Pengarah Siasatan SPRM, Datuk Shukri Abdull, ketika dihubungi, mengesahkan mengenai penahanan ADUN terbabit tetapi enggan mengulas lanjut.

Rosli dikatakan seorang ADUN dari kem mantan Menteri Besar Terengganu, Idris Jusoh.

Era Najib Altantuya : Polis Salahguna Kuasa, SUHAKAM Perlu Campurtangan (Updated)

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 10:07 AM PDT

"Mereka beritahu mak cik anak mak cik dah kena tangkap semasa turun keretapi semalam pukul 1 tengahari. -TVA

Chung Ling Sports Day 2009 (Part 1)

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 09:03 AM PDT

I went to the school sports day this year. I was not there during the Sports' Day when I was Form 1, 2 and 3. But during Form 3, I did go to the Tri-Chung Ling Sports Day and last year I was there too. It's not going there as the school told us too, it's me that I wanted to go there to take photograph. Last year, I bought telephoto lens for the sports and soon I found useful to me.

Last year, I got quite a lot of satisfied shots which makes me feels like I-don't-know-what-to-shoot for this year. The inspiration was not there but I did try my hard for some good shot at the 2009's Sports Day.

They have this same performance every year, Shao Lin and Taekwondo showing their martial art skills. It's boring you know, working out on the same thing over and over again. It's not creative enough and no varieties. They did the karate kick and shao lin hand on the bricks, everyone just cheered when it broke into half. Pity the Form 1s and 2s who were so far on the other side of the field, this performances were most probably for the VIPs.

I'm splitting it into the other post, so stay tuned. =) I took quite a lot of photos on that day but nice ones were just a little.

Two New Mozart Pieces Performed - bbc online

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 09:00 AM PDT

Two new Mozart pieces performed
Mozart
Mozart started composing at the age of five

Two newly discovered pieces of piano music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart have been performed in the Austrian city of his birth, Salzburg.

The pieces had long been in the archive of the International Mozarteum Foundation but only recently were they identified as compositions by Mozart.

The music was played at a house where the composer lived from 1773-1780, and which is now a museum.

Posthumous discoveries of Mozart works are rare but not unknown.

In January, a piece by Mozart that had lain undiscovered in a French library for years had its first performance.

The BBC's Bethany Bell says the two newly discovered pieces are the first movement of the concerto in G, molto-allegro, and a prelude for keyboard.

The two works, which are technically very demanding, were performed on Mozart's own piano at the house where he lived with his family.

Mozart wrote more than 600 known pieces of music before his death in 1791 at the age of 35.

He began composing at the age of five and his works include operas, chamber music, choral pieces and piano concertos.

An official at the International Mozarteum Foundation told the Associated Press news agency that the compositions to be played on Sunday were "substantial pieces" composed before Mozart's 10th birthday.

Rainy day at the horse farm

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 07:10 AM PDT

horses

2nd August 2009, National Stud Farm, Tg. Rambutan - The Buddies Annual Family Day.

We had some of the children of our PLHIV families asking their parents why we were having our family day at Tg. Rambutan. One boy even asked his mother, "Kita pergi sana buat apa mak? Gi tengok orang gila ke?"

I guess the town is more known for its mental hospital... some don't even know of the existence of the National Stud Farm there.

Oh well, it rained rather heavily in the morning...

rainy morning

... so we were stuck under the tents eating up our breakfast of nasi lemak, while one of the vets explained to us about the farm and the horses.

When the sky cleared, the scenery was beautiful...

horse farm

We were then allowed to touch and feed the horses at the nearby stables...

feeding horseHere... you can eat all you want. I don't eat this vege...

Then came the demo on how they replace the horse shoe. The horses get new pairs of shoes every 4 week.

horse shoe 1First, take off the old shoe...

horse shoe 2Then, adjust the new shoe so it will fit nicely...

horse shoe 3Then fix the new shoe...

horse shoe 4There... all done! Imported shoes some more... jealous or not??

Then group by group, we were allowed to take pictures with the horse(yep, the one with the new shoe). Here's a group of our volunteers with their pose...

volunteers & horse

We were then brought for a tour around the farm in an Executive Coach.

Errrmm... I mean this executive coach. Classy don't you think? The executive coach with some happy pelarians on board...

It rained on and off during the tour, so we brought along our umbrellas on the executive coach.

We were lucky as there were some newborns at the farm... during the tour, we saw at close range some colts and fillies less than a week old... a few just 1 or 2 days old.

newborn Sorry, can't remember if this one's a colt or a filly.

This proud stallion here is the father to many of the horses born in this farm.

And oh, we were even shown where these horses mate!

honeymoon suite The honeymoon suite...

After the tour, we were brought back to the tent for lunch. We were entertained by the balloon man during lunch.

balloon man This guy also did some magic tricks much to the amusement of the kids and adults alike.

After filling up our tummies with food glorious food, it was game time! (right timing, huh?) Sorry folks, no pics here ok? Suffice to say, all the children got some gifts and prizes to bring home.

After the games, came the moment most were looking forward to... the horse ride! Two horses were made available, one white horse meant only for the younger and smaller kids, while the other horse for the bigger children and the adults. I was busy going left and right making sure I got pictures of every single person who got onto the horses.

I can't show you pics of the PLHIVs and their families, so here's all I can show you...

horse dung The horse dung, freshly delivered while someone was taking his/her turn for the horse ride!

It then rained again right before tea time. Ngam ngam just in time for everybody to get the experience of getting onto a horse (which wasn't easy I tell you... tertonggeng-tonggeng!).

The rain subsided a bit after tea, so yep, we did manage to take a group photo before we headed home. And oh, we also got a souvenir each from the National Stud Farm.

Okay people, that's all I've got to share with you... Opah Pi the koboi tua wants to go home now... giddy-up horsey...

Penan Strikes Back!

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 07:10 AM PDT

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) – Dozens of indigenous Penan tribespeople armed with spears and blowpipes have set up roadblocks in Malaysian Borneo to stop logging firms from encroaching on their territory, activists said Friday.

The Penan people, some of whom are nomadic hunter-gatherers, have been resisting deforestation of their ancestral land since the 1980s when Swiss environmentalist Bruno Manser championed their cause.

Indigenous rights group Survival International said a group of Penan were making a new stand by mounting roadblocks across tracks cut by Malaysian timber firms that intrude deep into the forest. The group said once the valuable trees have been felled the companies clear the land completely for oil palm plantations, leading to water pollution and loss of wildlife.

"The logging and oil palm companies are robbing the Penan not just of their forests but of their food and water," Survival International's director Stephen Corry said in a statement.

"It is essential that the Malaysian government recognizes the Penan's rights to their land and stops allowing the companies to take everything in sight."

Jok Jau Evong, field officer for Friends of the Earth in Sarawak state, said two blockades had been erected in recent months, including one in the remote Long Daloh region that is still being manned by some 120 tribespeople.

"They are armed with blowpipes, their traditional hunting weapon. They do not want logging to be carried out in their forest reserve," he told AFP.

"The Penans put up the blockade as a last resort after talks with the logging company failed," he said, adding that the firms had suspended their activities but that there were doubts that agreement would hold.

"If the Penans lose their forest reserve, there is no way they can survive," said the campaigner, who recently returned from the region.

"When I visited the two Penan areas, I felt very sad. There is a lack of food, especially for the children. Their lives are getting worse due to the increased logging activities," Jok said.

The Penan people are among Malaysia's poorest and number just 12,000 out of the two million people in Sarawak, on Borneo island. Jok said only around 400 Penan were still living a fully nomadic lifestyle, while many others have settled in villages and towns.

The plight of the Penan was made famous in the 1990s by Manser, who waged a crusade to protect their way of life and fend off the loggers, before vanishing in mysterious circumstances in 2000.

ISA protest cost KL RM100-200mil: FT Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Ministry Sunday estimated that losses incurred by businesses as well as damage to property as a result of the illegal demonstration on Saturday were between RM100mil - RM200mil.

Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said, however, his staff will go to the locations Monday to get a more accurate assessment of losses and damage.

"We will try to get all estimates of losses and damages and it will be in the millions. At least, my estimate is between RM100-200mil," he told reporters after officiating the 1Malaysia carnival themed 'Realising the Country's Vision' organised by the the Desa Tasik Residents Association here Sunday.

He said the estimate would also take into consideration that Saturday as a weekend day and people were out shopping and it was close to Hari Raya celebrated by Muslims next month.

Raja Nong Chik said he would also go to the locations to see for himself the situation there. On Saturday, the Abolish the Internal Security Act (ISA) Movement's estimated 10,000 supporters had a street demonstration to protest against the ISA at several popular locations like Masjid Jamek, Dataran Merdeka, the National Mosque amd along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman including outside the Sogo shopping complex.

Commenting on the group's action that caused massive congestion in the city, Raja Nong Chik said they were "prodded" by certain quarters to do so.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had already said that the ISA would be reviewed. They should give the government the chance to review...give views.

"They can give views on the PM's blog, even email. If we say we won't review, then they can protest, but we want to review so they should not protest.

"I feel this matter has been politicised. That's all. This gives a bad image of the country to the outside world," he said. - Bernama

This FT minister understands neither Bahasa Melayu nor Inggeris. Obviously, this protest by Gerakan Mansuhkan Isa is calling for the abolishment of ISA. 'Mansuh' is 'abolish' or 'repeal'. 'Repeal' is not 'review'. Maybe should send the BN-government for Malay and English courses.

Protest Crackdown Draws Flak - malaysiakini

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 06:17 AM PDT

The government faced criticism for arresting hundreds of people and using tear gas and water cannon to break up a protest against laws that allow for detention without trial.

More than 60 of the 589 people detained in yesterday's protest, which saw at least 15,000 people massing in chaotic scenes in downtown Kuala Lumpur, were still in custody today according to media reports and lawyers.

"I experienced first-hand the indiscriminate police use of tear gas and its corrosive effects," said DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang who took part in the protest.

Lim accused Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan of 'wreaking personal vengeance' against him and other Pakatan Rakyat leaders for the Parliamentary Roundtable last week calling for a new IGP to create a safe Malaysia.

Najib slammed

He also condemned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak over the heavy-handed police response, which saw 5,000 officers including riot squad members play a cat-and-mouse game with protesters through city streets.

"Is this an indication that the Najib premiership is going to be the most draconian of all prime ministers since independence in 1957?" he asked.

Najib had criticised the protest plans, saying that he had already promised to review the controversial legislation after taking office in April.

Today, he defended the police action, saying they had a duty to preserve security.

"Street demonstrations should not continue and the authorities can take action," he was quoted as saying by the national news agency Bernama.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, who is charge of the police force, reportedly said the Internal Security Act (ISA) could be amended as soon as the next parliament session.

But the opposition and rights groups are calling for the colonial-era ISA - which has been used to detain government opponents as well as suspected terrorists - to be abolished.

Latifah Koya, a lawyer for the detained protestors, said that police were continuing to hold senior opposition lawmaker R Sivarasa, as well as the wife and son of an ISA detainee. Two other children were also in custody.

"We totally condemn the police action. People who merely wore T-shirts with an anti-ISA logo were also arrested. We demand their immediate release," she told AFP.

'People want change'

Rights campaigners also condemned the police response.

"Aliran is appalled at the determined effort by the police to crush the peaceful march," said P Ramakrishnan, president of Aliran.

"Thousands of concerned and caring Malaysians have undertaken this march out of a patriotic duty to highlight their revulsion for the ISA which has gained notoriety for the mindless use of this law by the Barisan Nasional."

Political analyst Khoo Kay Peng said that the results of 2008 elections, which saw a major swing away from the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, showed Malaysians were demanding greater freedoms.

"The people want change. If the Barisan Nasional wants to remain in power they have to listen to the people who desire liberty and respect for individual rights," he said.

"They took to the streets because the government has not provided an alternate platform to engage the people," he said.

Khoo said the coalition, which has struggled to claw back support since the landmark 2008 polls, faced defeat at the next general elections if it failed to introduce democratic reforms.

Era Najib Altantuya : Musa, Sabtu Perlu Dihadapkan Ke Tribunal SUHAKAM

Vohrah (mantan Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi). Antara lain:

- tidak menjadikan satu kesalahan jenayah (decriminalising) bagi perhimpunan tanpa permit polis di bawah seksyen 27 Akta Polis 1967;

- pihak polis tidak menghadkan hak mana-mana orang di negara ini untuk terlibat dengan mana-mana aktiviti yang berbentuk protes;

TURKISH DELIGHTS

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 06:13 AM PDT

HELLO one and all. Its a wonder how the IT era manages to connect people no matter where they are. On 31 July 2009, almost on the stroke of midnight, I was privileged to accompany my boss for a palm oil promotional trip to the Middle East especially in Turkey.
We stop by for about two hours in Dubai, Saudi Arabia after a seven hours flight from Kuala Lumpur before continuing to Istanbul for another five hours.
Am posting this from the Ceyland Intercontinental Hotel, Istanbul. In a gist, there are certainly a whole lot of Turkish delights - food, kebab, hundred years of buildings and what not. Was at the Grand Bazaar yesterday (Saturday) and today, we went to the Taksim Square, the Blue Mosque and the Domalbache palace. Enough said... going for a nap now - its 9.11pm in Malaysia, but in Instanbul only 4.11pm - five hours behind. More posting later...
LARGEST BAZAAR IN THE WORLD

Twenty five thousand people work in the Grand Bazaar today. Over three thousand shops are housed within the market, and two hundred and fifty thousand people visit it every day. This number increases to four hundred thousand during the months of heavy tourist traffic in the summer.

Today, it is almost as though there is no one who comes to Istanbul without visiting the Grand Bazaar. As a place, it is identified closely with the city. In the bazaar, you will find a vast number of stores selling leather clothes and accessories, rugs and carpets, and gifts of every variety. Nonetheless, the most impressive aspect of the Grand Bazaar is its status as the world's largest jewelry bazaar. Of course, it is also the centre of Turkey's gold market. MORE

Era Najib Altantuya : Hishamuddin Terus Cabar Rakyat

Posted: 02 Aug 2009 05:45 AM PDT
