mohd radzhis salleh, assemblyman fron lunas, kedah and a PKR member, jumped out of PKR to become an independent!
what? not another one? after that two from perak who jumped and ultimately caused the downfall of PR in perak. btw, what happened to their corruption charges? conveniently forget by MACC as a payment for them jumping?
coming back to the lunas exco, why jumped? people will surely talk of being lured by UMNO with RM, RM, RM!! and just like all the other froggies, you think so easy for you to become independent without people making noises eh? people elected you on a PKR ticket not on an independent ticket.
this radzhis seems to have a thick face lah. he said he will still continue as exco working independently as he was appointed by the sultan. hey, kawan, but how did you get to the road for the sultan to appoint you? the rakyat voted you! sorry correction. the rakyat voted you as a PKR member!
anyway, glad to know that kedah MB (picture above, taken from the malaysian insider), will seek an audience with the sultan to request for someone to replace radzhis. hopefully the sultan will be wise… to see it as the way we see it, that it is not fair for him to hang on to the exco's seat now that he is an independent.
why we often heard of PKR froggies? why not DAP? why not PAS? er… DAP there was one, the female froggy from jelapang. is it because most PKR members are ex UMNO members and those who jumped are ex UMNO members who wants to return to UMNO or was enticed by UMNO to leave PR!! well, the PKR election director, saifuddin nasution, had admitted PKR elected representatives are the weakest link within the PR coalition (read from malaysiakini, full article below after click on 'read the rest of this entry’.
you know, once there was this much hype about the anti-hopping law… to enact it or not but in the end all was quiet, so i guess this means being a froggy is legal and the person's rights to do so. fine. then what about introducing a law which states that once an elected representative resigned from his party, s/he should give up his state/parliament seats. can or not?
Lunas state rep quits PKR, turns Independent
Kedah Pakatan has today been rocked with a defection – Lunas state assemblyperson Mohd Radzhi Salleh, who is also an executive council member, quit PKR citing loss of confidence in the party's leadership.
He has announced himself as an independent state assemblyman.
Radzhi, 56, will nevertheless continue as Lunas seat representative as well as the state executive council post.
But his state cabinet post is in doubt as Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Razak is likely to ask him step down from his tourism and community development portfoio.
With Radzhi's resignation from PKR, the PAS-led government Kedah now has 21 seats against Barisan Nasional 14, with one Independent.
The Pakatan Rakyat state government is composed of PAS (16 seats), PKR (now 4) and DAP (1), while Umno makes up the bulk of BN with 12 seats while MCA and Gerakan has one each.
In an immediate reaction, PKR leaders said that Radzhi's resignation could be triggered by a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigation into his tourism portfolio.
They also said that the PKR leadership had expressed dissatisfaction over his performance.
Padang Serai PKR division 'dissolved'
Radzhi's decision to quit PKR has not come as a surprise to Padang Serai parliamentarian N Gobalakrishnan.
"I was expecting it for a long time … he was close to Mahdzir Khalid (former Kedah menteri besar)," said the MP from Kedah, whose Padang Serai constituency includes the Lunas state seat.
Radzhi won Lunas in the general election last year defeating MIC's S Ananthan Somasundram by 10,323 majority votes.
The other state seat under Gobalakrishnan's constituency is Merbau Pulas held by PAS' Siti Aishah Ghazali.
A key ally of Radzhi, acting Padang Serai PKR division chief Jamaludin Abu Hassan has also today announced that his division had been dissolved.
Gobalakrishnan said he had received numerous complaints on Radzhi's poor performance from party members and voters over the past six months.
He claimed that Radzhi's defection was timed to enable BN to reclaim the initiative in the Permatang Pasir by-election campaign in neigbouring Penang.
"Now Umno can portray PKR and Pakatan as crumbling in Kedah. By doing so, Umno thought it can fish some votes in Permatang Pasir.
"But the truth is PKR in Padang Serai and the Kedah Pakatan government are still strong, united and safe," he told Malaysiakini.
BN seeks to engineer coup in Kedah
Defection rumours involving Radzhi first surfaced when former PKR leader V Arumugam quit as Kedah exco and Bukit Selambau assemblyperson in February.
S Manikumar won the Bukit Selambau state seat in the subsequent by-election in April.
Gobalakrishnan said the party supreme council had suspended Padang Serai division in April "for carrying out activities against PKR interests" during the Bukit Selambau by-election campaign.
Some Kedah PKR leaders indicated that the lack of strong PKR state leadership and the domination of PAS in the state government could well be other major factors that had influenced Radzhi's decision to defect.
Last month, the sole DAP assemblyperson, Lee Guan Aik (Kota Darul Aman), had threatened to quit the state cabinet in protest over the relocation of a pig abbatoir.
"Radzhi was quiet unhappy with PAS leaders lately due to the lack of help from state government for him to carry out his exco duties and constituency works in Lunas.
"So when Umno came calling, he was tempted," said an elected representative, adding that he would not be surprised if Radzhi joins Umno soon.
Another leader said he believed BN had always harboured hopes of luring all five PKR assemblypersons to secure the necessary numbers to topple the Kedah government.
If all PKR men were to jump ship, BN would have 19 seats against Pakatan's 17, enough to form a razor-thin majority.
Besides Radzhi, the other PKR excutive councillors in Kedah are S Manikumar and Bakar Arang state representative Tan Wei Shu.
Manikumar is in charge of domestic trade and consumer affairs, Thai community affairs, plantation workers' unity and Indian community affairs, while Tan is in charge of environment, Chinese community affairs and transport.
Later in the afternoon, Gobalakrishnan and a group of PKR supporters held an impromtu protest outside the Padang Serai constitutency service centre calling on Radzhi to quit his Lunas seat to pave way for a by-election (photo, above).
PKR reps are Pakatan's weakness link
Meanwhile, PKR election director Saifuddin Nasution said Radzhi's defection would not cause much harm to PAS' bid in winning the Permatang Pasir by-election.
"I don't think Umno spin doctors can sway that many votes," said the former Lunas assemblyperson who is now Machang parliamentarian.
He described Radzhi as a rotten apple in PKR and said the party was happy to see the back of him.
"We have always suspected this scenario would happen since six to seven months ago. PKR will be better without him."
However, Saifuddin conceded that PKR elected representatives are the weakest link within the Pakatan coalition.
"It's something that the party leadership needs look into seriously. Otherwise it will shake public confidence in us," he said.
PKR supreme council member Saiful Izham Ramli has disputed the status of Padang Serai division.
He explained that the division had been suspended since last month after the party found both Radzhi and Jamaludin were engaging in secret talks with Umno leaders to plot against the Kedah state government.
Saiful said PKR Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul had been tasked by the party to take over the division.

Kita doakan Ustaz Mohd Salleh Man menang.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — PKR vice-president R Sivarasa today shrugged off claims of a break in party ranks following their Lunas assemblyman turning independent, saying the Kedah executive councillor (exco) might have been "financially induced" to quit to portray internal division.
Mohd Radzhi Salleh today discarded his party membership and declared himself independent, a move which could cost him his state exco position.
His political aide disclosed the dissolution of the party's Padang Serai division, which Lunas falls under, citing their disappointment with the central leadership as the main reason that prompted the move.
Sivarasa, however, said there is no basis for Radzhi to make such allegations, claiming he has not heard complaints from members against the party's central leadership.
"There is no basis to what he is claiming. There is no crisis whatsoever. I think it is reasonable to believe that the he might have been offered a substantial amount of money to do so to create the impression that the party is in crisis," Sivarasa told The Malaysian Insider.
Apart from Radzhi, PKR is represented by two other councillors: Bukit Selambau's Manikumar Subramaniam and Bakar Arang assemblyman Tan Wei Shu.
Sivarasa, who is Subang member of parliament, said the party would leave the question of Radzhi's exco position to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Razak.
"I think it's just a matter of time before Radzhi would be removed as an exco," commented Sivarasa.
Prior to Radzhi's resignation, PKR was in control of five seats in the 36-member Kedah legislative assembly while PAS has 16 and DAP one. Radzhi won the state seat by more than 10,000 votes in the last general election.
His resignation today marks the second time the Kedah Pakatan Rakyat has been hit by internal crisis.
In July, DAP's sole assemblyman, Lee Guan Aik threatened to withdraw from the state coalition after disagreements with the PAS-led government

Kes Rafizah mula menjadi percakapan umum, apabila Ketua Pemuda PAS Nasruddin Hassan at-Tantawi mendakwa mengenali dekat keluarga Mohamad Ali.
"Dia kena isytihar bahawa dia mempunyai dua isteri, pengundi pun tak ragu-ragu. Kalau tidak ia menjadi pembohongan kepada rakyat. Kalau isytihar sekarang risiko tidak besar," kata Mohamad Ali.
"Apa nak ditakutkan? Kita nak takut kepada siapa. Takut kepada manusia atau takut kepada Allah... Sekiranya beliau mengisytihar, maka saya ucapkan terima kasih," tambahnya.

-TVA

Tindakan terbaru Surahjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) melepaskan Barisan Nasional dari dikenakan sebarang tindakan kerana menyalahgunakan kakitangan kerajaan memperlihatkan suruhanjaya berkenaan terus menjadi 'kuda tunggangan' Umno.
Naib Presiden Pas Datuk Mahfuz Omar berkata, bukan di Permatang Pasir sahaja tetapi dalam setiap pilihanraya bukan sahaja JKM di'Umno'kan, malah banyak lagi agensi kerajaan seperti Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), KEMAS, RISDA, PERDA, KADA turut terlibat.
Tindakan Pegawai SPR Pulau Pinang Sulaiman Abdullah melepaskan mereka begitu sahaja dengan tidak menyiasat bersama penglibatan langsung agensi-agensi kerajaan terbabit membuktikan SPR tidak serius memastikan pilihanraya kecil N11 Permatang Pasir bebas, adil dan demokratik.
"Adakah SPR mahu terus dilihat 'kuda tunggangan Umno' sebagaimana agensi-agensi kerajaan terbabit?
-TVA

An overdraft? That'll be £200 at Lloyds TSB (but only £15 if you're a Muslim).
Many Lloyds TSB customers are being hit with charges of up to £200 a month if they go into the red - while Muslims who use the bank are only being charged £15. The part-nationalised bank has been accused of religious discrimination over the disparity between overdraft charges on its standard current account and its Islamic account. The Islamic account was set up by the high street bank to attract Muslim customers by allowing them to keep faithful to their religion.
Sharia law does not permit the payment of interest so the 'typical' Islamic account at Lloyds TSB has been set up without an overdraft facility. If a Muslim customer who has insufficient funds in the account tries to make a payment, it is blocked and a 'return item fee' is charged. However, on some Islamic accounts such a payment is authorised and an 'unplanned overdraft fee' of £15 is then levied. The bank says this is a management fee, not a payment of interest, so does not contradict Sharia law.
Meanwhile, customers with standard current accounts who go into the red by at least £100 without authorisation are hit with an 'unplanned overdraft fee' of £20 a day for a maximum of ten days. This could mean a customer has to pay £200 in one month. The Islamic account is available to all customers at Lloyds TSB. In theory, anyone who does not need a permanent overdraft facility could switch to this account to avoid being hit by interest charges for going into the red. The disparity between the two accounts emerged after the bank sent its customers a booklet this month explaining its charges. It is not enough that Non Muslims get screwed in Muslim majority countries with impunity. In full from the Daily Mail The home of the crusaders is going Dhimmi!

Christians and Muslims clashed in 2005 at St. George's Church in Alexandria, Egypt, where Muslims demanded an apology for a play they said was offensive to Islam.(Alexandria Tomas / EPA / October 22, 2005)
Maher El Gohary is something his Muslim compatriots can't fathom: a convert to Christianity. He and his daughter live like fugitives, moving frequently to avoid those who'd like to see him dead.He and his daughter, Dina, live like refugees, switching apartments every few months, not wanting to get close to neighbors. Gohary's life has been threatened, his dogs have been killed, and it's been suggested that he's insane or possessed by spirits. He is a man this Muslim nation cannot fathom: a convert to Christianity.
"Islam is the only thing Egyptians are 150% sure of. If you reject Islam, you shake their belief and you are an apostate, an infidel," he says. "I can see in the eyes of Muslims how much my conversion has really hurt them." Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the constitution, but fatwas, or religious edicts, from clerics subject converts from Islam to persecution and threats. The government treads uneasily, not wanting to anger religious conservatives who stubbornly guard Islam's grip on society. Converts such as Gohary "should be killed by authorities," says Abdul Aziz Zakareya, a cleric and former professor at Al Azhar University.
Gohary is reportedly the second Egyptian Muslim convert to Christianity who has tried unsuccessfully to have his religious identity officially changed. The first, Mohammed Ahmed Hegazy, went into hiding after his home was set ablaze. Religious statistics in Egypt are often manipulated and unreliable; estimates on converts to Christianity range from several thousand to hundreds of thousands. In full... Remember Christianity was there before Islam.

Report lodged against convicted wildlife smuggler, two govt agencies
By JOSHUA FOONG
KUALA LUMPUR: A group of non-governmental organisations has lodged a police report against convicted wildlife smuggler Anson Wong, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) and the Customs Department.
Speaking to reporters after lodging the report at the Brickfields Police Station, Malaysian Animal Rights Society president R. Surendran said:
"The reason we are lodging the police report is because, over the years Perhilitan has failed to take any action against Wong for smuggling and has even given him special permits to catch and keep animals.
"We know that one of the modus operandi of wildlife traffickers is to get permits to keep animals and later declare them dead, when in actual fact they have been smuggled out of the country," he said.
Last Friday, Surendran lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on possible corruption involving Perhilitan.
The report lodged was also based on the book The Lizard King that exposed the existence of such a trade in the country.
He cited page 192 of the book by American Bryan Christy that highlighted a relationship between Wong and a "second-ranked Customs official" in Penang.
He called on the police to investigate Wong's activities since the 1990s.
Also present with Surendran Friday were representatives from the Malaysian Animal Welfare Society, Pet Positive and the Independent Living and Training Centre.
Two Members of Parliament -‑ S. Manikavasagam (Kapar) and M. Manogaran (Teluk Intan) ‑- accompanied the group.Manikavasagam said that he would raise the issue in Parliament during the October meeting.

My first stop of the Phi Phi Islands tour was Maya Bay. After 45 minutes of bumpy, windy, dizzy speedboat ride, the sleepy mind get freshen up when I was told about reaching the first stop which is the Maya Bay on an island called Ko Phi Phi Leh. It's a very small island but it's pretty, it gave me a feeling of "Lost". There's already many people on the little beach of Maya Bay when we arrived at there.
Some were sightseeing, some were swimming, some were diving and for me was just sightseeing. I was not in my hot swimming beach pants and being topless because I didn't have a body to show, if I do, for sure I'll be running around neked, only on the top. Haha. Seriously, I need to work out and stop being so lazy and sit in front of the computer all the time, I hate having a fat ass. LOL
Believe it or not, this was my first time seeing a super crystal clear turquoise sea water, first time in my 17 years life. It's just so clean and clear and feel like jumping into the water but somehow we couldn't do so because it's just a sightseeing stop for us. We went down for like 20 minutes for photos and walkaround.
According to the tour guide and the Internet, this place is famous because there's a film called The Beach was filmed there. Anybody knows about the film? I don't know though.
It's just a short strip of beach, but there's already so many people at there. It's just so happenings, but most of them were either in the water or taking photos.
This place is really very pretty and I like it a lot because it's somewhere out of nowhere. It's quiet and very clean! The only sad thing was we were there for just a short while and didn't get to stay longer.
I tried locate myself on GPS after getting back onto the boat, I was located but it showed that I was in somewhere in the middle of the sea, there's no island, which I guess it means that the map on the phone is complete. Haha.

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 23 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hinted more PKR lawmakers could quit the opposition party as his faltering Barisan Nasional campaign in the Permatang Pasir by-election capitalised on the walkout by PKR's Lunas assemblyman.
The Umno deputy president said they would leave as they have lost confidence in the struggles of their leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whose Pakatan Rakyat has won six out of seven by-elections since Election 2008.
"Many PKR members and elected representatives no longer trust Anwar Ibrahim because they realise that the party's struggles are only for meant one individual, that is Anwar," Bernama quoted Muhydiddin as saying here.
He said the decision of Lunas state assemblyman Mohd Radzhi Salleh to quit the PKR showed that elected representatives from the party no longer cared about their position although they were members of the state executive council.
Muhyiddin said although he was shocked by Mohd Radzi's sudden decision to leave the PKR, nonetheless he had expected it to happen.
Kedah tourism councillor Mohd Radzhi today announced his decision to leave the party and become an independent assemblyman, saying that he had lost confidence in the party's struggles.
He also claimed that 200 Padang Serai PKR members left the party as they had lost confidence in the party's leadership which no longer followed the original objectives of the party's formation.
Muhyiddin said the voters in Permatang Pasir should learn their lesson and should no longer be duped by Anwar's struggles and stop supporting the opposition coalition which was facing more problems.
Umno's scandal-hit candidate Rohaizat Othman, who has been disbarred as a lawyer, is facing Penang PAS state commissioner Mohd Salleh Man in a straight fight in the by-election this Tuesday.
Two PKR lawmakers in Perak quit with a DAP lawmaker last February and brought down the Pakatan state government led by PAS's Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin.
None of the PKR or DAP lawmakers have joined Barisan Nasional although they have pledged support for the federal coalition.
Their resignations have been a blow for Anwar, who predicted he could form the federal government with 30 MPs from Barisan which has ruled the country since Merdeka when the coalition was known as the Alliance.
Anwar's Pakatan won 82 seats in the 222-seat Parliament and five states in Election 2008, breaking the Barisan's traditional two-thirds parliamentary majority.
PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah said today "cash inducements" could have prompted Radzhi to quit, denying the party was facing cracks.

PERMATANG PASIR, Aug 23 — Umno's dream of capitalising on its resurgence in Manek Urai's narrow loss could end up a nightmare in Permatang Pasir, where its campaign is sinking in the quicksand of its choice in scandal-hit candidate Rohaizat Othman.
It is understood that local Umno members "intend to voice their anger over the choice of candidate made by the Penang Umno leadership" by voting for PAS after a more favoured and popular choice, Permatang Pauh Umno youth chief Zaidi Mohd Said was bypassed by the party's top leadership.
Umno and the ruling federal Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition have already watched in horror their campaign efforts go down the drain following revelations that Rohaizat had been disbarred for professional misconduct, apart from a few more cases and allegations of a second wife.
Campaigning has also been lacklustre, with very few turning up for the political ceramahs featuring top Umno leaders. Only a few allies from BN component parties have pounded the streets to canvass votes in next week's by-election, where Rohaizat faces Penang PAS state commissioner Mohd Salleh Man.
"Many here were shocked when they found out that Rohaizat was picked instead of Zaidi and this has created discontent among the local Umno supporters," said an Umno man here who spoke to The Malaysian Insider on condition of anonymity.
Zaidi, or known affectionately to locals as "Cikgu", a name given after his profession, is a popular figure among the locals from both sides of the political divide. He is also said to be a well-liked figure among the Chinese community which make up 25 per cent of the predominantly Malay Permatang Pasir.
Malay and Chinese residents here have backed the claims describing Zaidi as well-liked for his "unpretentious" and "grassroot" character.
At a ceramah delivered by deputy prime minister and Umno No. 2 Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Wednesday night, Zaidi, who was present received a loud applause when he was introduced while Rohaizat was embarrassed by the lacklustre response he received from the audience.
Ironically, Muhyiddin, despite witnessing the obvious, have rubbished off claims that there are elements of sabotage within its party claiming that his observation indicated the local supporters have been earnest in their effort to ensure a BN victory.
"They are not talking about it. Instead, they are working hard at the grassroots to convince the voters to vote for the BN and I don't see any sign within the BN that there are groups working to the contrary," he was reported as saying.
Perhaps betting on the fact that their man is a local, Muhyiddin, apparently a traditionalist, seemed certain that Rohaizat's background would be of advantage to the ruling coalition.
Locals however, thought otherwise. Many here say they have never even heard of Rohaizat before and that the Permatang Pauh Umno division secretary "only started appearing during the by-election."
All this could well be a blunder to Muhyiddin and BN, local politicians say, given that the ruling coalition have been fortunate that residents here have shrugged off the scandal weighing on their candidate.
Umno sources say Zaidi's reputation among the Chinese community could have been the vote-puller pivotal for BN's aim to regain the much needed non-Malay votes that went to PAS in last year's March 8 polls.
Former Permatang Pasir assemblyman, the late Datuk Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman, won the state seat with a majority of 5,433 votes, a victory local Umno leaders claimed made possible due to the non-Malay votes.
The negative perception of the non-Malay electorate here towards Rohaizat, coupled with the alleged sabotage elements and lacklustre campaign enterprise may well see the ruling coalition suffer yet another disastrous defeat, ushering BN chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's hard-earned popularity rating to a premature end.

Yusri who has known Rohaizat since 1989 when both were uni mates said he did not want any baseless accusation to be made against Rohaizat by irresponsible parties to serve their own political interest.
He said his previous media statements on the issue were not made on the instigation of any individual or political party, and hoped that the public understood the real situation.
Yes, the public in general understand and believe in Yusri, I'm sure.
Two types of people will know between right and wrong lah - the educated and ethical. Educated people like Mahathir. Ethical people like Tengku Razaleigh.
Don't know about all those who are in defence of Rohaizat lah.

MAF of SCAC - a memorable group photo after our visit at the exhibition.
Rev David Chiew Ing Seng is as cheerful as ever.
We posed for a photo in front of the billboard of MAF of SCAC.
The exhibition is a meaning project undertaken by SCAC in collaboration with The Masland Methodist Church. It bridges the church and the public, taking them to see galore church works.
I bumped into Rev David Chiew Ing Seng again at the site. I asked for a photo taken together with him. Rev David Chiew Ing Seng was pastor-in-charge of The Masland Methodist Church when Yian and I tied the knot in the church. He is truly a respectable pastor. May God continue to bless him in his service in Canada.
