Heineken Green Room 3

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 10:19 AM PDT

Thank God they went back to Zouk. Orange isn't a suitable club to host such exclusive events. Anyway, im proud i attended all the 3 Green Rooms, which is pretty much all of it. I've dropped out from Artistry parties because they create mega traffic jams & you kinda need to park 1km away and walk there. And I ain't a big fan.. ain't a fan at all of free alcohol parties. So it makes the walk & wait totally unworthy. At least Zouk, you get ample parking, you pay a couple of tens for a bucket of beer but hey come on, don't be a cheap-skate and expect free drinks all the time.

Anyway, Bling & Goldfish was spinnin when i got there.. not bad, nothin impressive. The ice cold Heineken was very nice though.

Now gettin these 2 buckets of beer on the table for my colleagues & partners wasnt easy. I went to the bar, asked for 10 bottles and the 2 bar clowns tried to ask me to donate 2 bottles to both of em. I could tell, that they were newbies - fuckin tryin to get drunk while on the job.
a
Zouk - if you see this, i ain't blammin you, just your staff.
a
And because i was in a really good mood, i just wanted to get the bottles on the table and start drinking, i tried to say no but the 2 baboons begged me. I then negotiated and offered to donate 1 so they could share. They took it... fucking prostitutes.
a
The newbies didnt open the bottle caps too but i just cudnt be bothered. Got Edmund to take the caps off wit his teeth. Ugly sight but pretty impressive.
a
Then Filthy Dukes came on and kept me entertained from there. They're pretty alright i must say.

Era Najib Altantuya : Jangan Tipu Tok Guru, Bayar Segera RM1 Billion Kepada Kelantan

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 10:49 AM PDT

Era Najib Altantuya : Choi Soi Lek Dihadapkan Ke Lembaga Disiplin Parti MCA

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 10:30 AM PDT

Era Najib Altantuya : Utusan Tiup Api Perkauman (Updated)

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 10:11 AM PDT

Pakatan condemns racist Utusan article, calls it seditious
By Debra Chong

PETALING JAYA, Aug 4 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders scoffed at an opinion piece published in Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia today accusing the multi-racial three-party opposition bloc of deliberately working to undermine the special rights and privileges of the Malays.

"I think it's an article which shows the severe desperation of Umno apologists," PAS central committee member Dr Hatta Ramli told The Malaysian Insider in an immediate reaction to the scare-mongering piece written by Noor Azam.

"I don't think Malays will be influenced by such racist articles which are intended to split the unity of the Malaysian people," he added.

The Kuala Krai MP noted that the public was well-aware of the duplicity of the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership which had failed to create unity among the different ethnic and religious groups.

"The three main parties in BN are trying to create opportunities for their own leadership, not create a prosperous Malaysia for all Malaysians. That's why the people are angry at them," he said.

He sighed when asked to comment on Noor Azam's declaration turning public institutions such as the courts, the police and the military into Malay institutions.

It seemed a familiar and frequently-asked question he had faced before.

"That's the whole problem. It's as if they are all Malay racial institutions when they are actually Malaysian institutions upheld by everyone," Dr Hatta said.

He added that even if the institutions were presently staffed more by the Malays than Chinese or Indian, it is "all preferential; these people want to be there."

"It is unwise and it is dangerous to classify the institutions as Malay. Any criticism to these institutions will then be taken as a challenge to the Malay position, which is a lop-sided view and may have been the wrong strategy used in the past to get bigger support," he said.

Dr Hatta assured the Malay community that all their rights and privileges would be protected under PR leadership, a point which his fellow PR national lawmaker from the Chinese-dominated DAP highlighted, referring to the Utusan journalist's claims that the Malays had lost their special position in three states governed by PR after their landslide win in the March 8 general election last year.

DAP's Tony Pua claimed that Penang Malays had benefitted the most out of all the three main races after Lim Guan Eng's administration ran a programme to give families hit by hardcore poverty a monthly allowance.

"We're the first state to increase kafa allowances for religious teachers," he said. Pua is also the Penang chief minister's investment officer based in the Klang Valley.

"This shows that it does not take a Malay government to benefit Malays," he added.

The DAP publicity secretary objected to the Utusan commentary painting his party as an evil Chinese organisation puppeteering its Malay partners in order to reach its own political gains, including top government posts.

"If Pakatan comes to power, the chief posts may be given to non-Malays. But such posts are not the monopoly of any one race, not in our Constitution," he said.

Pua added that the DAP was not "challenging" the special rights of the Malays, and especially not the royal institution.

In his view, the Attorney General should review the "racist and more important than that, seditious"article, which Pua feels really threatens the security of the country.

"In this case, there should be no selective prosecution," he concluded.

Today, I too am a minority by Nadeem F. Paracha

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 07:51 AM PDT

A riot is when an agitated group or mass of people clash with the police, or with another mass of agitated men and women. It is not a riot when an agitated group of people attack the homes and lives of men, women and children who are not as well armed as the attacking group, or whose best defense in this respect is to flee the scene. So why is the Pakistani media referring to the recent attack by Muslims on the Christian community in the Gojra area as 'communal riots?'

They were not riots, but an attack. An assault by an arrogant majority on a low-lying minority.

Even though the media did well to cover the episode in which Gojra's Christian community – their homes, churches and lives – were brutally attacked by mad mobs of self-righteous Muslims, it was frustrating to note that the Punjab government had more than enough information about the attacks before the actual incident took place to nip the frontline miscreants of the attack in the bud. But its officials in the area did absolutely nothing.

Sounding apologetic, the Punjab government retaliated by blaming the attacks on sectarian organizations, which, might very well be the case, especially in the event of the rising number of sectarian organisations that have proliferated in the Punjab province ever since the mid 1980s – especially with the formation of the militant Aunjuman Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (ASSP) in Jhang in 1986.

Mind you, rural and semi-rural Punjab has been the scene of similar attacks on Christians in the past as well. And the reasons given by the attackers have remained the same: blasphemy against the Muslim Prophet committed by Christians and the supposed desecration of the Qu'ran.

On a number of occasions it has been proven that the attacks in the past were nothing more than a case of a certain areas' influential landowners using the areas' mullahs to whip up hatred against Christian individuals who had homes or shops or ownership of a piece of land that the landowners were interested in getting. In spite of this, a number of Christians have languished in jails under the controversial blasphemy laws that were first enforced by the Zia-ul-Haq dictatorship. Laws that have become a scrooge for the minority communities of Pakistan and a boon for mischievous and psychopathic Muslim landlords and their mullah allies.

The Punjab government has blamed the Gojra incident on a few local Islamist leaders and clerics who had arrived in Gojra not long ago. It is believed by the province's government that whipping up communal violence is yet another tactic being used by shady sectarian organisations to continue destabilising the province.

Like I said, all this is more than likely to be true, but the more important question is, even if the instigators of the violence were clerics and sectarian organisations and their band of thugs, how would one explain the participation of the common Muslims of Gojra in the attack who were neither paid thugs nor members of the accused sectarian organisation?

When one Imran Aslam, a cleric and alleged leader of a Sunni sectarian organisation started to use the area's mosques to give vent to the rumours that certain members of the Christian community had insulted the Qu'ran, his thugs were at once joined by young Muslim men whose families had otherwise lived in harmony besides their Christian counterparts for decades in the city.

The same is the case during communal violence in India. Paid thugs and storm-troopers of fundamentalist Hindu groups are usually joined by hoards of common Hindus whose hatred towards the Muslims has more to do with poisoned religious delusions rather than the political and economic reasons and agendas that their more wily Hindu fundamentalist leaders and thugs harbor.

In Pakistan as well, the sectarian organisations, clerics and their thugs who've been directly involved in attacks on the Shia and Christian minorities in the Punjab, have interests and stakes that are usually tied to political reasons or are related to land disputes or personal enmities. On the other hand, it is a highly distorted and hate-mongering version of what constitutes as being Islam in semi-rural or rural Punjab that drives and dictates the madness of the rampaging Muslim mob that ends up becoming the spontaneous army of blood-thirsty foot soldiers of these organisations.

Observers believe that attacks such as the one that took place in Gojra were entirely uncommon in the Punjab till about the early 1980s.

It is when the state of Pakistan under a Machiavellian-Islamist dictatorship started to infiltrate and 'convert' Pakistan's non-puritanical and largely pluralistic 'mazaar culture' – of which a majority of Pakistanis were associated with – that many Pakistanis started to shift their religious orientation towards the more puritanical and myopic strains of the religion.

This the state did to radicalise young Pakistani men in its blind and self-centered pursuit to continue offering fighting men to the many mujahideen groups stationed in Peshawar and fighting a CIA-ISI-Saudi-funded 'jihad' against the Soviet forces occupying Afghanistan.

Much has been written and said about the political, economic and social price Pakistan has had to pay for its involvement in the Afghan civil war - from the proliferation of what became to be known as the 'Kalashnikov culture,' to a two-fold rise in vicious sectarian violence, to 'Talibanisation' and all the way to demonically developing a hate-prone and anarchic psyche that has engulfed the hearts and minds of many young Pakistanis; even those who have little or nothing to do with militant organisations, but can become a direct part of mobs such as the one that attacked the Christian men, women and children in Gojra.

Disturbed and angered by the episode, I made the effort to join a group of Christians who were holding a protest rally against the attack outside the Karachi Press Club. It was sad to note that there were only a dozen or so Muslims who were part of that rally. A journalist colleague of mine was surprised to see me there. He asked me what I was doing at a 'Christian rally?'

'I hate majorities,' I said, spontaneously. 'Especially if these majorities claim theri majority-ism on the basis of the supposed superiority of their collective religion and, more so, at the expense of the land's minority.'

'In that case,' said my colleague, 'today I too am a minority.' Blog, Dawn Nadeem F. Paracha is a cultural critic and senior columnist for Dawn Newspaper and Dawn.com.

A mob of Muslim men take part in a violent protest against Christians on the street in Gojra. — Reuters . This is an editorial, all wishful thinking to do right for the minorities-edit

The frenzied mob that hit a Christian settlement near Gojra on two consecutive days last week proves how easy it is to lose all sense of reason. Masked young men, egged on by religious leaders and actively supported by locals angry over the alleged desecration of the Holy Quran by some members of the Christian community, performed a veritable dance of death in the neighbourhood. They torched houses, smashed businesses and brought routine life to a screeching halt through their seemingly unstoppable violence — until seven Christians were burnt alive and the Rangers called in. On both days the entire area around the targeted settlement was the site of arson, interspersed with stone-throwing, baton-wielding and gunfire.

It is not for the first time that an alleged act of blasphemy has triggered such brutal aggression. Nor, sadly, will it be the last if bigoted mindsets persist. Only weeks ago, Christian houses in Kasur were burnt down because the majority community there was able to allege blasphemy to exact retribution in an otherwise purely secular feud. Yet it seems little is changing to avoid the repetition of such incidents. In fact, while Gojra burnt the local administration made only half-hearted efforts to douse the fires. That is why the Christians there insisted on senior officials being booked for murder as a precondition to ending their protests. They, after all, had a duty to protect citizens no matter what their religion. Are we not supposed to be a democratic society that treats all its members, regardless of faith, equitably?

Unfortunately, the fact that we have blasphemy laws suggests that we are not. These laws have become a ticket in the hands of the majority to persecute and victimise the minority communities if they don't easily submit to their inferior status in society. In not being blind to the faith of each individual, the state is supporting bias and bigotry against non-Muslims. The narrow-minded who spew venom through their sermons against religious minorities are only the loudest and most abominable symbols of such discrimination and their growing following is an unmistakable sign of the frightening future that we are heading towards. A state held hostage by its own bigots cannot guarantee protection for religious minorities in its jurisdiction. For that to happen, the state will have to ensure that all forms of religious discrimination, including faith-based laws that victimise even innocent civilians, are done away with. Dawn

This year will be organized by Melaka-Johor Coordinating Council (MJCC) in Johor. I'm not ICG publicity. But, what I'm trying to say here, I WON THE ICG TSHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION! My design is chosen for the official ICG t-shirt. Ha ha ha ha ha. I'm too happy because I thought I had no change to win this since my design is very simple and plain.

I think maybe there's no other participants send their entries, so they have to choose mine. Huhu.

Sorry, I can't reveal my design here since ICG09 organizer want to keep it as a secret for the time being and only will present it during the day of ICG. Plus, my blog is read by quite a number of other Catholic students that will be joining this camp. It will not be a surprise anymore if I expose the design here, right? He he he. Sorry, people!

Visiting YE Sales Fair 09 at Queensbay Mall

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 09:20 AM PDT

I am out of Young Enterprise this year, I was in my school's Young Enterprise company for the past 2 years, it's Blitzkrieg Enterprise in 2007 and Ozio Enterprise in 2008 and had held the post of Assistant Production Manager in Blitzkrieg and Finance Director in Ozio.

Well, the reason of me not in the YE this year because I am now not eligible to join it as I am old already. It's only for 15-16 years old. =) I didn't really bother about the new Young Enterprise this year as I am getting busy with study for the final year in school.

They had the annual Young Enterprise Sales Fair two weeks ago at Queensbay Mall, the same place we were in last time. My school's YE is Mercuralia Enterprise. I went to Queensbay Mall with some classmate and also ex-YE members to check out the sales fair. First thing first was to visit my school's Mercuralia Enterprise booth to check out on their products.

They had some of their products same as ours last year but with different name and packaging. I did not buy anything there, but Yong Seng, the Managing Director gave me a "I *Heart*" Notebook for my birthday present. Thank you. =)

We then move on from booth to booth to check out the handmade products from other schools.

It's the same thing every year, with the CM visiting all the booth. It reminded me of last year when I served our beloved Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. My friend told me that I've asked CM, "Have you eaten?" before, it seems funny but then I seems like don't remember the scene. Anyway, it's last year and it's over for me right now. Good luck to my school's YE team.

There will be a new movie screening tomorrow and that's Wong Jing's new production, On His Majesty's Secret Service I was excited when I heard about it in the radio and unfortunately, it's starring Louis Koo but not Stephen Chow who was in Forbidden City Cop (another similar movie by Wong Jing 12 years ago).

For sure I am going to the cinema for it, it's Wong Jing's movie, I like his work.

Trailer for Forbidden City Cop, a movie in 1996, classic.

Era Najib Altantuya : SPRM Nafi Teoh Dipukul

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 09:31 AM PDT

Scientists Halt Epilepsy In Mice - bbc online

Scientists halt epilepsy in mice

Myshkin mice
Myshkin mice can develop severe seizures

Scientists have prevented epilepsy caused by a faulty gene from being passed down the generations in mice.

The key gene, Atp1a3, regulates levels of chemicals such as sodium and potassium in brain cells.

It has long been suspected that an imbalance of these chemicals may cause some cases of epilepsy.

The University of Leeds study, which appears in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, raises hopes of new treatments for the condition.

Lead researcher Dr Steve Clapcote said: "An imbalance of sodium and potassium levels has long been suspected to lead to epileptic seizures, but our study is the first to show beyond any doubt that a defect in this gene is responsible."

Our study has identified a new way in which epilepsy can be caused and prevented in mice, and therefore it may provide clues to potential causes, therapies and preventive measures in human epilepsy
Dr Steve Clapcote
University of Leeds

Much work is needed to determine whether the same mechanism is in play in humans.

But the human ATP1a3 gene is more than 99% the same as the mouse version.

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition that affects almost one in every 200 people.

However, the causes are unknown in the majority of cases.

Current drug treatments are ineffective in around one third of epilepsy patients.

The Leeds team worked on Myshkin mice, which have a tendency to develop seizures.

MRI scan on mouse
Scan showing epilepsy activity in a mouse brain

They showed that those animals who did develop seizures carried a specific defective version of Atp1a3.

These mice responded when treated with the common anti-epileptic medication valproic acid - proving that they did indeed have a form of epilepsy.

To try to counter this, the researchers bred the epileptic mice with animals that carried an extra copy of the normal Atp1a3 gene.

The addition of the normal gene counteracted the faulty gene in the resulting offspring - which were completely free from epilepsy.

Very promising

Dr Clapcote said: "Our study has identified a new way in which epilepsy can be caused and prevented in mice, and therefore it may provide clues to potential causes, therapies and preventive measures in human epilepsy."

"Our results are very promising, but there's a long way to go before this research could yield new antiepileptic therapies."

Dr Clapcote said his team had started to screen DNA samples from epilepsy patients to investigate whether Atp13a gene defects were involved in the human condition.

Delphine van der Pauw, of the charity Epilepsy Research UK, said: "These results are promising.

"If the findings can be repeated in human studies, new avenues for the prevention and treatment of inherited epilepsy will be opened."

Simon Wigglesworth, of Epilepsy Action, stressed the research was at an early stage - but agreed that it was encouraging.

He said: "At the moment there is no treatment to cure epilepsy, other than surgery, which is only effective for small numbers."

My Form 3 BM Essay

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 08:47 AM PDT

I am definitely enjoying my work in my hometown, Ipoh. It's all because of the good food that you just can't find in KL and a little laid back environment compared to the hustle and bustle of the city.

As I was going through my stuffs in Ipoh, I found an exercise book at one of my book shelves that says "Penulisan – BM" which means Essay in Malay Language. 3 Orkid was the name of my class when I was in Secondary 3.

BM Penulisan

Out of curiosity, I flipped through the pages to find out what have I written a decade ago.

BM Penulisan

To my own astonishment, I couldn't recall myself scoring as high as 24 or 25 out of 30 marks for each essay I have written in the official language of this country. Wow!

BM Penulisan

I am glad I actually score an "A" for this particular essay. Let me share it with you now.

Hmmm… what do you think? Alright, please do not throw rotten eggs on me if my essay is not properly written. It's just a piece of essay penned 10 years ago. :)

altantuya najib DPM: Some itching to be held under ISA - nizar nizar

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 08:44 AM PDT

  • The opposition rally against the Internal Security Act was aimed at provoking the police into invoking the law, says Muhyiddin Yassin.MORE
  • Then they can say 'I told you so'
    Demos won't solve anything
This Muhyiddin will never get it. He seems to have a low level of mental maturity.

GMI aimed to hand over the memorandum to the king. They marched peacefully until the police provoked them.

Demos won't solve anything. In the first place, the rally was all about abolishing ISA, not about solving anything. Again, tak faham Bahasa Melayu. The rally was all about Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA.

Era Najib Altantuya : SUARAM Buat Laporan Polis Terhadap Ketua Polis Negara

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 06:53 AM PDT

Is this Najib's 1Malaysia?

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 05:54 AM PDT

Utusan Malaysia, being one of the UMNO-owned dailies, is now asking the Malays to fight back. The contents of one of the report in Utusan Malaysia today has directly, and publicly insulted non-Malay communities and, worst of all, it's calling on Malays to resist equality and dominance of non-Malays in every aspect of this country.

This is not the first time Utusan has been hostile towards opposition party and linking them with non-Malay dominance, but so far this is what some people call Najib's biggest challenge to prove his 1Malaysia ideology. To provoke anger in one specific race to suppress another race is just so wrong.

Is Najib reacting to this issue? Most probably he's just going to shut his ass up and as usual, rationalize the actions of Utusan by blaming everything on the opposition party.

Should the people believe Najib's promises to bring peace, unity and prosperity to all Malaysians? Unless he does something against Utusan or personally apologize for this incident, I dont think he is capable of walking the talk he has been boasting about recently.

I believe most of the Malays are able to digest this action as a mere political gimmick, but surely, the racist column of Utusan is amplifying the damage to our national unity.
Well, of course, none of the UMNO leaders have balls to defy Utusan's uncivilised action, simply because they're the ones who are orchestrating all these racial provocations to enhance their political positions - without racism, UMNO is virtually non-existent.

And Najib, you SUCKS.

Cooking Eggs

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 05:29 AM PDT

Cooking hard boiled eggs can be a hassle because you have to kor hui (jaga api) or kor chui (jaga air). this method of cooking the eggs whereby you don't have to worry whether they are over-cooked or under-cooked.

1) Place two pieces of tissue paper inside the rice cooker and sprinkle them with water.
2) Put in the eggs.
3) Close the lid and press "Cook" button.

4) Wait till the button jumps up. When it does, TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY POWER. Do not leave them too long inside the rice cooker after cooked ...only do so if you prefer a harder egg yolk.
5) The eggs are ready.

The speed is faster than using ordinary boiling method. This is because the water sprinkled on the tissue will turn into steam and compressed inside the rice cooker to cook the eggs. You can peel the egg shells off very easily. The egg yolks will turn out just nice, not too dry. And the best part is -you don't have to do any washing nor cleaning at all.

The 9Th Methodist Convention - "Spreading Scriptural Holiness, Transforming The Nation" (Talk 2) - Part 6

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 06:08 AM PDT

Bishop Rev Dr. Hwa Yong pointed out that, in Malaysia, we can't reform just by politics.

"Political parties are not strong enough. However, Christians, if committed, can reform our society," Bishop added.

Generally, Christians in Malaysia have been reluctant to get involved in politics. Bishop cited two important reasons for this social phenomenon.

Firstly, Chinese culture plays a dominating role. As a migratory people,, we are concerned mainly with family and clan. We take care of those on the 'inside'. We focus on our own well-being and generally play safe. and if things go bad, we just pack up and leave.

Secondly, a wrong theology has led to popular misconceptions. Many 20th century evangelicals have accepted a dualistic and spiritualised understanding of salvation, the tendency is for them to advocate a withdrawal from the 'public square' and its concomitant of a 'life-boat ethics'. The world of public affairs is the place where the devil and sin hold sway. It is like a sinking ship in the midst of the storms of life. There is no point in trying to save it, whether through doing good works or socio-political change. Instead we have better jump into the 'life-boat, i.e. the church, and leave the world to sink! So don't waste time of changing the world.

The wrong theology further dictates that our priority is evangelism; socio-political concerns are secondary at best.

Many Chinese church leaders had a similar theology, including John Sung and Watchman Nee.

"Take note of the correction made by the Lausanne Covenant (1974) : 'that evangelism and socio-political involvement are both part of our Christian duty'," Bishop said.

Era Najib Altantuya : Utusan Berada Di ambang Kehancuran

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 05:36 AM PDT

Era Najib Altantuya : Kesan Keganasan FRU Kepada Kanak-Kanak

Posted: 04 Aug 2009 04:49 AM PDT

- TVAntara

Aksi Para Demonstran Muda
