These photos represents the spirit of Malaysian Malaysia.

On 18th September 2009, the heavy downpour has caused flash floods in the low-lying area in Penang. One of the affected area is Kampung Masjid, Zoo Road, Air Itam.

As the local assemblyman, I arranged the Volunteer Bommba Service of Bukit Bendera and Air Itam to help to clean up the muddy area.

I was told this is the first time in the history of Kampung Masjid, the bomba service came to the kampung to clean up the muddy area. A Malay young man told me:"Saya ingat saya mimpi kerana bomba datang untuk cuci kawasan".

It was one day before the hari raya Aidilfiltri. My service team provides the most critical service to the Kampung masjid that is to help them to clean up their neighbourhood after a flash flood to enable them to celebrate hari raya aidil-fitri the next day.

Also presents are Sarjan Wira (Balai Polis Air Itam), Sdr Ramalingam (Chairman of JKKK Thean Teik and Chairman of DAP Thean Teik branch), Sdr Ang Say Teik (Secretary of JKKK Thean Teik and Secretary of DAP Air Itam branch), Sdr Tan June Ju (Treasurer of DAP Air itam branch) and the Volunteer bomba service team of Bukit Bendera and Air Itam.

Kampung Masjid comprises of about 40 unit of houses and majority are Malays.

Mooncakes started to creep in to take up shelves in all supermarkets weeks before the Mid-Autumn Festival, giving an early heat-up of this major Chinese festival.

This traditional Wu Ren Bing ( 五 仁 饼 )is both luscious and nutritious. It has been Yian's favourite. I started to like it also.

I recommend it to you for trying out!

HOLIDAY SPECIAL: Being Positive About Parkinson's

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 07:02 AM PDT

ONE of the most difficult parts about becoming or being disabled is when the person starts to lose control of his or her life.

This is especially hard and painful for those who have lived independently for most of their lives.

An insidious disease like Parkinson's, for example, can leave its victim with shattered hopes.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) which is a neurological condition that currently has no cure only gets worse over time.

It often robs People with Parkinson's (PwP) of the many basic abilities that is needed for independent living.

Its sufferers commonly experience difficulty in moving their arms and legs. In times like these, they have to depend on others for assistance.

They also develop tremors and facial tics which is characteristic of the disease.

PD causes PwP's to gradually become more and more immobile.

In a debilitating situation like this, it is not surprising that society tends to look down on PwP's as weak and pitiful human beings.

That scenario however is not true in the case of a particular gentleman I was privileged to be introduced to last week.

Mohd Yazid Ismail from Bukit Damansara in Kuala Lumpur has had PD for almost 20 years. And like most PwP's, he didn't realise he had the condition until much later.

"I was working in Brunei Darul Salam when I think the first signs of PD started creeping into my life," said Yazid who is a retired higher executive officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking to Wheel Power in an interview last week, the 74-year old gentleman explained:

"It started off at first as a slight tremor in my right hand that appeared once in a while.

"But I didn't think about it much as I realised that my hand only started shaking when I got excited or anxious about something," added Yazid, saying that he simply put it down as a temporary nerve problem.

The irregular tremors however stayed on for two years.

By that time Yazid noticed that his writing of numbers and alphabets had also started to shrink in size for some reason.

Despite these alarm bell signals, Yazid pushed away everything from his mind until his retirement in 1990.

That was when he returned to Malaysia.

"Because I was very active in sports, especially in badminton and had no known history of disability in my generation of family, I didn't think that I had any real cause to worry," he said.

By this time Yazid's tremors had increased. However, he didn't face any major problems in walking.

He finally met a general practitioner in KL, more out of curiosity than anything else, he said.

It didn't take long for the doctor to suspect PD and refer him to a neurologist. However, Yazid had to wait three months before he could see the specialist who confirmed the GP's suspicion.

"I must say that I was rather disappointed that both the medical doctors did not tell me much about PD other than I now had the condition," Yazid recalls.

"All I knew then was that boxer Muhammad Ali and the late Pope John Paul II had it, and had difficulties in walking – other than that I knew nothing".

However it was after Yazid doing some personal research on the subject through books and international sources that he discovered how serious his condition was.

Despite the grim prognosis, Yazid is heartened to learn that PD is treatable – especially in slowing down the full effects of the condition.

Today although Yazid is in a more advanced stage of his condition, he remains optimistic. Although he now requires the use of a wheelchair, he only asks for it when he absolutely needs it.

This is one of his parts of still "being in control" of his life.

Yazid pops as many as a dozen pills in a day.

"Although I do have the occasional 'down moments', I never blame God for what has happened to me.

"I think having PD is part of any other disease or problems we as human beings have to go through.

"But rather than staying depressed, I am fortunate that I am able to see the many blessings of life; such as still being alive at 74, and being surrounded by my family and relatives who I love and love me back in return," Yazid concluded.

And that is exactly what Yazid and his wife Rahila plan to do over this weekend for Raya.

Era Najib Altantuya : 29.09.09 PAS dan BN Umumkan Calon Bagan Pinang

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 04:06 AM PDT

Fox vs Angie vs Arthur

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 03:58 AM PDT

A quick poll to begin with.

Who's your sexy?

The robot loving Fox? - who has often been compared to actress Angelina Jolie, with the media dubbing her as "next Angelina Jolie".

Fox has been compared to Jolie because they each have a "tattoo collection", and status as a "built in sex-symbol".

a

a

a
Or the now thick lipped & charitable Angelina Jolie - who has adopted kids from 3rd world countries?

a
a
a

I've done a similiar poll on Facebook, yielding outrageous comments! LOL. Somebody even described Megan to be a "Plastic Blonde What the Fuck".
a
Nasty enough "Plastic Blonde" ... she calls Fox, Plastic Blonde What the Fuck. LOL... not that im denying it though. HAHAHAH
a
a
a
a
Anyway, fuck the mainstream celebs.

There's something more sexy in town today. Someone iconic, someone in town to celebrate his 250th Birthday - Arthur Guinness.

Arthur Guinness was the founder of the Guinness brewery business, an entrepreneur, visionary and philanthropist. Guinness laid the foundations for Guinness Brewery. At 27, in 1752, Guinness's godfather Arthur Price, Archbishop of Cashel, bequeathed him £100 in his will. Guinness put the money to good use and in 1755 had a brewery at Leixlip, just 17 km from Dublin. In 1759, Guinness went to the city and set up his own business. He got a 9,000 year lease on the four-acre brewery at St. James's Gate from Mark Rainsford for an annual rent of £45 - wikipedia.org

I say this fucker got Chinese blood. How did he manage to negotiate for a 9,000 year lease at an annual fee of 45 pounds.... lol.

After being quiet for 250 years, Arthur Guinness has decided to come to the town again and party! warming up for his 250th birthday celebration at Sunway Lagoon, where the Black Eyed Peas will be performing.

After 250 years, Arthur has lost some height.. gained weight from drinking Guinness and to look young again, coloured his hair black.

He has also caught on with technology... and he Twitters through his iPhone.

d
Looks like he gets attracted to the Apple.

Catch Arthur Guinness at Sid's Pub and Social in Bangsar, and Souled Out & Backyard Pub @ Sri Hartamas... tonight!

najib altantuya H1N1: Preventive steps for Raya holiday - nizar nizar nizar

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 04:19 AM PDT

Especially those who have ILI symptoms while in hometowns are urged by the Health Ministry to practice preventive steps during the Hari Raya.

These steps are:

1. Isolate from other family members

2. If they need to be with family members, wear face masks.

3. Avoid close contact including hugging persons of high risk like children under the age of five, pregnant women, asthma patients, diabetic patients and patients with low immunity.

4. If possible stay away from crowded places like open houses, 'kenduri', and Hari Raya prayers for fear of infecting others. If they want to attend Hari Raya prayers they should wear face masks and have their own prayer mats and not share them with others.

5. While in village, individuals who have flu symptoms should stay away from others, always wear face masks, wash hands often and not visit crowded places like open houses and 'kenduri'.

6. If symptoms do not lessen, individuals should see a doctor and get immediate treatment.

The Official Secrets Act

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 03:55 AM PDT

Today, we are going to reveal the 18-page Cabinet paper on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) fiasco that has thus far cost the Malaysian taxpayers RM12.5 billion of our hard-earned money. Not only three Prime Ministers, but the entire Cabinet was briefed about the status of the project. In the end, the Cabinet endorsed what was going on rather than bring to book those responsible for the disaster that need not have happened. Be reminded that this Cabinet paper is covered by the Official Secrets Act, which means it is a crime to be in possession of it.

Era Najib Altantuya : Kerjasama SPR Dan UMNO Semakin Nyata Di dalam Undi Pos

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 03:51 AM PDT

"Kita bukan hendak mengajak tentera berparti politik.

Era Najib Altantuya : Perbalahan Samy Vellu Dgn Mahathir Berterusan

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 03:42 AM PDT

WASTEFUL SPENDING ON POSTERS

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 03:25 AM PDT

I have just returned from Seremban, after an unusually long two hour drive early this morning from Kajang. I thought driving out early to Seremban from Kajang would allow me to escape the anticipated heavy traffic along the South bound highway. That thought however proved to be wrong because the moment I exit Kajang at the Country Heights toll house to get into the Seremban-KL highway, I noticed that the highway is clogged with traffic. By this time, it was already to late for me to turn around and I had to bare the agony of trailing the heavy traffic that took me almost two hours to reach Seremban, where usually it takes only 30 minutes.

Upon getting into Seremban town, you would not believe in what I saw i.e. a line of large posters of the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar with the caption 'Selamat Hari Raya Idilfitri' hung at every alternate street light pole along the roads in Seremban town. It is pointless to count the number of posters because one is sure to lose count of it. Even having a calculator will not help.

I cannot understand the usefulness and purpose of the posters with the picture of a smiling Menteri Besar on it. I would like to ask why have his picture on the poster? Why are the countless of posters needed? Don't the Seremban folks recognise the face of the Menteri Besar?

I think this is cheap publicity and a total waste of money; more so if it is public money. I would'nt mind if the posters bill is paid from the personal account of the Menteri Besar himself, which I think is certainly not the case. Or is the bill taken up by some Chinese businessman? This Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar seems oblivious to the fact that the country's economy is still bad, and that the money spent on his posters could have fed hundreds of poor families. I think the people of Seremban do not mind to be without the Hari Raya greeting posters.

I have noticed that this Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar fancies posters with his photo on it. During the last 2008 General Elections, the number of election posters with the Menteri Besar photo must have been in the thousands. Not only was Seremban town turned blue by the BN colour; even highways and village roads were turned blue. And I am now reminded of a case that appeared in court recently were the supplier of posters, flags and other election paraphernalia had lost his case of claim against BN for the payment of all the election paraphernalia that costs several millions. I just wonder if these were the election paraphernalia that the supplier was to attempting to lay claims.

The Bagan Pinang by-election is just around the corner and the Menteri Besar should be concern about winning the by-election more than scattering posters of him in Seremban town. Or are the posters meant to be part of his by-election campaign to spike up his popularity more than whoever the BN candidate would be for the by-election?

Mild political awareness in church

Posted: 19 Sep 2009 01:05 AM PDT

Our Catholic church fraternity has been steadfast over the years to safeguard our faith, and our integrity as Catholics, from forces who are out to belittle or trample on us.

We ought to salute our Bishops and his team for spearheading this just cause. Having said that, as laymen and committed followers of Christ, what is our contribution to this predicament

Very sadly, we live a very complacent life oblivious to the threats and struggles which are faced by the Catholic church.

How many of us buy HERALD, which is the only Catholic newspaper and read what is translated for our knowledge and understanding? The Editor, Fr. Lawrence Andrew SJ and his team put in enormous effort in trying to keep us posted on the current issues. But who cares??

If in church someone talks of justice, we character assassinate this person for being political in church. Who then is responsible for creating awareness? Our own status-quo as a liberal worshipper may be in jeopardy, without our knowledge.

Some say that when a priest talks of rights and justice, he is bringing politics in the church. But to me, I think their concern is to create grass root awareness of the current issues. As we are the embattled minority, being rhetoric is not a crime. When negative vibes are sensed, we have to be vocal.

Our difficulty sometimes in understanding this phenomena lies in our inadequate knowledge of the blooming crisis.
