Era Najib Altantuya : PAS Parti Yang Paling Bertoleransi

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 10:01 AM PDT

-misbahulmunir

Era Najib Altantuya : Wibawa Nik Aziz Santuni DAP Perak

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 10:15 AM PDT

"Kalau Allah jadikan manusia sama semua muka macam (seperti) selipar Jepun, susah nak kenal mana satu Nik Aziz dan Ngeh Kor Ham," jenaka Nik Aziz lagi.

Nizar lah," jelasnya.

Beliau yang juga Pengerusi DAP Negeri menyuarakan rasa kagum dengan kepimpinan amanah Menteri Besar Pakatan Rakyat, Dato' Seri Ir. Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin kerana bersabar dan terus mempertahankan mandat rakyat, walaupun selepas Umno merampas kerajaan negeri.

Katanya lagi, kewibawaan Nizar menyebabkan majoriti rakyat terus bersama Pakatan Rakyat, walaupun beberapa Adun Pakaran Rakyat mengisytiharkan diri sebagai Adun Bebas.

-zainulfaqar

Visit to Rifle Range Flats and Kampung Melayu Flats

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 08:51 AM PDT

As reported in The Star.

CHIEF Minister Lim Guan Eng spent about 90 minutes inspecting the living conditions of the flat dwellers in Rifle Range, Air Itam, Penang, and he had a lot of dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance of the blocks.

"I was in one of the lifts and noticed that one button panel was spoilt.

Living in squalor: A five-year programme to improve and enhance the 42 state-owned low-cost housing quarters in Penang is in the works.

"Once these things are fixed, there must be a system to ensure that they are well-maintained," he said after making his rounds at the blocks of flats on Saturday.

He said more should be done to clean up the area so that the residents could enjoy a better quality of life.

Vandalised: A lift panel that has been damaged.

Television serviceman S. Bala, 48, who has been staying there for seven years, said hygiene and frequent lift breakdowns were the main problems faced by the residents.

"People will simply throw their rubbish everywhere and the bins are overflowing with garbage.

"We used to have lift attendants patrolling the blocks to attend to our complaints but now, we have to wait for the lifts to break down before they are repaired," he said.

He hoped the police would patrol the blocks more frequently to deter crimes such as motorcycle theft.

Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong, who was also present, said the state housing department had applied for RM4mil to upgrade the water piping system for all nine blocks.

Dismayed: A resident looking at his vandalised mail box at the Rifle Range flats.

He added that he would also submit a proposal to build a multi-storey car park for about 200 cars.

The Rifle Range scheme, which has nine blocks comprising 3,660 units and housing about 15,000 people, was built in 1969.

Lim also said a five-year programme to improve and enhance the 42 state-owned low-cost housing projects in Penang would soon be unveiled.

"The programme, which will have two stages — development and maintenance —, is scheduled to start next year.

"Among the problems faced by residents at low-cost housing schemes is the lack of maintenance on basic facilities such as the lifts," he said.

On Sunday, Lim inspected the Kampung Melayu flats in Air Itam.

The two 16-storey blocks of low-costs flats consist of 966 one-room units.

Lim inspected the buildings and took note of the various issues raised including leaks, poor rubbish disposal system, water and sewerage piping problems, and even indiscriminate throwing of rubbish from the higher floors.

He said the main problem was still cleanliness and the state needed to work out how to carry out cleanliness projects and educate the people at the same time.

Also present were state executive councillors Abdul Malik Abul Kassim and Wong Hon Wai.

As reported in The Star.

GEORGE TOWN: Chang Lip Wei toiled for two weeks to conceptualise a mascot he dubbed Menang. And true to its name, his design won him the top prize in the Penang CAT (Competency, Accountability, Trans-parency) mascot competition.

Chang, a junior lecturer with The One Academy in Bandar Sunway, Selangor, added that he took another two days to come up with the sketch.

The Bukit Mertajam boy said the word "Menang" was a combination of 'M' for Malaysia and 'enang' from Penang.

He added that "Menang", for him symbolised power, respect and inspired fear

"I find the characteristics of a tiger suits Penang perfectly and 'Menang' means that although we are Penangites, we are also Malaysians," he said after receiving his RM3,000 cash prize from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in Komtar yesterday.

He said the black stripe on Menang's ears represented the Penang Bridge while the black stripes on the back of its head symbolised Penang island.

"The coat of arms on Menang's chest which is accompanied by cultural patterns represents the racial unity in Penang," he said.

Big winners: (From left) Chang, Lim, Yap and Ang Kok Kong (representing his brother Kok Hooi) holding up their designs, and (inset) the winning design.

Three more cash prizes of RM1,000 were each given to Lim Siang Ling, 20, Yap Zhi Qi and Ang Kok Hooi, 42.

Lim said "Menang" would be used to promote state programmes and serve as an "ambassador" for sports, cultural and tourism activities.

Oh, The Shame!

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 05:16 AM PDT

I'm sure you've all seen people in some embarrassing moments before. I'm sure you've even laughed at some of those poor people caught in those embarrassing moments. In fact, I'm even more sure some of us have even taken pictures of people in those embarrassing moments and featured them as clown of the day in your blogs even. Well, I'm hoping not to see myself in someone's blog as clown of the day soon. Let me tell you what happened.

This evening our cooking gas ran out halfway while wifey was in the midst of preparing dinner. So I took out the empty cylinder and headed to the nearby sundry shop to get a replacement. The sky was getting dark from a brewing storm. I thought I could get to the shop, buy the gas and head back home before the sky opened up.

Unfortunately, the rain was much faster than I was. It started to rain, though not very heavy yet, the moment I reached the shop. I ran in, paid for the gas and got the shop assistant to lug the new cylinder to my car. Now, the rain was starting to get heavier and I was hurrying to open the boot of my car for him to place the cylinder inside.

I stepped on some wet sand and a slight puddle of water from this afternoon's rain session and the next thing I knew, I was doing the split, albeit rather painfully and while trying to stop my fall, I fell flat on my right ass cheek with a huge plonk, twisting my back and sending a shooting pain up my left body right there in the middle of the road with everyone looking at me in amusement and some even snickering away, darn them!

The shop assistant looked at me in disbelief at the pose I was striking in the middle of the road. I think he wanted to burst out laughing but refrained from the evil stare I gave him ... LOL! Well, I don't blame him cos I would have laughed too if it happened to someone else. I could feel my face flushing from embarrassment with everyone looking.

I got up with whatever dignity was left in me, closed my boot and drove the hell out there like Michael Schumacher on steroids. I don't think I'll be going to that sundry shop for a while, at least until I'm sure the people there have forgotten the entire incident. I'm just hoping no one decided to take a picture or anything cos I was down on the road with my split leg pose for quite a while before I managed to get up and high tail it out of there.

And now my back hurts like crazy, especially the left side which I think is a little swollen. I probably pulled a muscle or something. Sitting here and typing this post is not really helping the pain much but I need to search for some material on weight loss pills that work so I'll just have to put up with the pain until I'm done. I had an earful from wifey about trying to be a little more careful when I'm doing things. She knows how I like to rush and get things done and always end up hurting myself in the process.

Ok, maybe I really should log off now and go get some rest cos it hurts even pressing the keyboard. Have a nice weekend folks.

Ezekiel 47:1-5 (King James Version)

1Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.

2Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

3And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.

4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

A day in a life of a taxi driver

Today, chatted up with a taxi driver.

He shared with me stories of 'a day in a life of a taxi driver'.

He related to me one incident that happened to his fellow taxi driver who picked up two passengers with a box of goods. It was put in the boot. Upon arrival at the destination, the two passengers told the taxi driver that they needed to go the ATM to withdraw money. Thinking that the box was a form a 'security', the taxi driver let them alight. After a few minutes of waiting, the taxi driver felt something was amiss. So, he went to check the box in the boot. He found two big stones in the box!!

Era Najib Altantuya: Gerakan Cadang BN Digantikan Dengan Sebuah Parti Tunggal

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 02:04 AM PDT

-Bernama

Era Najib Altantuya : Badrul Boleh Saman Jika Mahu - Khalid

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 01:58 AM PDT

Walaupun dikecam hebat penduduk Pelabuhan Klang, badrul masih enggan melepaskan jawatannya.-NADIA MOHSIN(TV SELANGOR)

Nizar vs Zambry: Nov 5 is D-Day. Nizar Nizar Nizar

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 02:23 AM PDT

The Federal Court on Nov 5 will not just decide who rules Perak, but also its future.

At a press conference in Ipoh after
the first Pakatan Rakyat convention, Nizar said that if the court ruled in his favour then the he would seek the consent of the Sultan of Perak to dissolve the state assembly and call for fresh elections.

Earlier in his opening speech at the Pakatan convention, Nizar outlined the teething problems faced by the three coalition parties in forming the Pakatan Perak state government after winning the general elections on March 8 last year. He recalled the many tempting offers of state posts and monetary gains if PAS was to join BN to form the next state government."They played the psychological game of race, religion and monetary benefits running into the millions for each of the six PAS assemblypersons if we were to join them in the new state government.

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 12:19 AM PDT

What would one think of 72 year old do in their sunset years? Taking a good well laid rest, staring into the sunset? But not Roberta Flack who is still doing music at the age of 72! Talk about declining abilities in old age, Miss Roberta on stage was an inspiration to all. She could even sway her body and in between crack a joke or two and got the audience to sing along. Oh yes there were many in the audience, the young ones who were spellbound by her soulful tunes. Miss Roberta Flack's music hold sway! And her memory is still as good as ever. She could even relate her earlier musical career experiences.

Yes I was there attended a one night Miss Roberta Flack LIVE in Concert at Grand Ballroom Hilton KL. Opening act for the night was our very own entertainer of legendary status herself Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim.

Gosh at that age most would experience difficulty in walking and although Miss Roberta sat most of the time she managed to stage her concert for slightly more than an hour which is a feat considering her age. She entertained us with her evergreen classics such as "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"; "Killing Me Softly with His Song", and "Feel Like Makin' Love", as well as "Where Is the Love" and "The Closer I Get to You" and "Tonight I Celebrate My Love". She performed her signature tunes, as well as her interpretations of jazz, blues, and pop standards

Robert Flack was born February 10, 1937, in Black Mountain, North Carolina. She is best known for her love ballad 'Killing Me Softly With His Song', released in 1969. She earned a music scholarship to Howard University and graduated with a BA in Music. She briefly taught music after graduation from college. She is known as a singer of soulful jazz and pop ballads.

Many in the audience must have gasped in amazement at how a person like Roberta Flack has ignored the march of time and still live it up.

Cheers to Miss Roberta Flack!

BREAKING NEWS Supporters of Chua Soi Lek have challenge the party's CC members to resign en mass to pave way for fresh polls rather than calling...

The resignation of two-thirds of the 42-member central committee will immediately trigger new leadership elections while the application for an EGM can be made via three ways - on the order of the party president, request by one-third of the CC or one-third of central delegates.

Aiyo...Which is better (or worse!) - another EGM after an EGM that did not solve the problem or fresh polls that may solve all the problems of camp A, camp B or 'third force'?

MCA is a living proof that Chinese can never unite.

They will only unite to fight against each other like the kongsi gelap.

Posted: 30 Oct 2009 10:15 PM PDT

I started off wanting to fill my Saturday with a hatful of projects - some undone, some halfway through, some just biting at my ankles for want of getting started.

Then I decided, to heck with it. I will reclaim my Saturday.

I will give myself a break today. I've been working really hard. I've had my fingers in too many pots I believe. So much so I am promising myself to take it easy for 2010.

I'm not grumbling.

This year has been exceptional for me. I've done many things, accomplished much and put my whole heart and soul out there.

But sometimes, people take advantage of the kind and nurturing Piscean that I am. And then, this amiable woman gets really mad. When I am cross, I am not a Piscean. I turn into my Chinese zodiac, a Tiger. I can growl, I can hiss and I can definitely play hardball if I need to. Just don't let the Tiger flash her stripes. It's not a beautiful thing.

I've also become a lot more attuned to what I truly want. I suppose that comes with growing older. One starts to reflect on oneself a lot more. Next year, I will be 36. It's not even frightening anymore. I thought I would rebel at Age, spit at it even with each impending birthday. But I don't.

Oh sure, I get my share of white hair (whoever gets grey hair???), I think I see some wrinkles here and there on my face (horrors) and I keep slathering body lotion all over just to keep my skin smooth like taufufah.

BUT.

But I would never turn back the clock. Knowing what I know now, I know that the process or the journey is just as crucial as the destination. Sure, I've had strange battles with my family at some point in my life. Sure, I've done madly. I've had to go through some odd phases in my life.

But would I have done it any differently if I had a magic wand and could go back and change my history?

No.

Not one bit.

Not ever.

Because all those experiences, bitter, happy, joyful, exhilarating, traumatic, made me. It made me into who I am today. Someone who is deeply contented and often grateful for the beauty that Life serves her.

Someone who is able to look at life a lot more squarely in the eye now.

Someone who is able to enjoy the journey as well as the destination.

Someone who is able to appreciate that her own unique journey is hers and hers to hold close to her heart.

Someone who can watch and learn at any point in time and put away the stubborn ego (yes, I can be quite stubborn if I chose to be).

I believe I write best when I am most relaxed, most at peace. When I struggle to write, it means I have conflicts unresolved.

In many ways, I started this blog to chronicle my personal journeys. I started this to remind myself to write. I didn't start this to blog for money. None of that rubbish. It's a sacred space for me to pour my thoughts into, allow them to crystallize and allow me to smile at them with genuine love once in a while as I re-read them.

If you've come by and read what I wrote and it made you THINK, then that would have been the accolade I've deserved. We all try to change the world in our own ways and my way is through the pen and now through the keyboard - to a blog.

If you could help change someone's life for the better, do it. Do it in a way that makes you happy too. I know I am happiest when I am writing and my writing has lifted, helped, assuaged or even provoked someone to change for the better.

That is why for 2010 I am focusing on using my writing for better ends. What about you? What are you planning for 2010? Incidentally it is the Year of the Tiger.

My year.
