Been busy for the past week making arrangement for my next travel plan… to Seoul, South Korea. It's going to be my longest trip ever, close to three months in the country, just within the stay limit without needing a visa.

Already booked my flight ticket, departing in January 2010; will share more stories as time approaches. At the moment, check out this latest Seoul tourism promotion video for the Visit Korea Year (2010-2012) campaign…

Day 3 has gone and I still have to say, so far so good. Today's Mathematics paper was relatively easy. What's challenging will still be the Additional Mathematics paper.

IMG_4908-1 by nicholaschan

But then I got to say I love today's paper so much because it's easy and enjoy doing it fast. Don't know why I felt so sleepy, after finishing the question, I took a short rest on top of the table. I thought of rechecking my answer after a few minutes of rest, but I fell asleep, seeing that the time left was only 5 minutes, so didn't get to check everything but still, feeling good with my answer, confidence and my sleep.

The school holiday has began today, everyone is sleeping at home and I am having exam, that's the standard thing. This also means that the canteen auntie and uncle take their days off, going for a hiatus for two month, meaning too, I don't get to eat canteen food anymore.

Luckily there's still one stall opens, trying to earn extra cash during the holiday and they sell fried rice and char siew rice, not very tasty but out of choice and hungry, still have to eat.

Tomorrow will me Moral Ed paper, you heard it right, we have Moral Education as one of our paper in such a big exam, a lot of memorizing to do and good luck for it, hope my mind don't forget everything. I will be back after before noon because this paper ends at 10.30am.

Kementerian Kerja Raya Lembab Atau Sabotaj?

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 07:54 AM PST

Perodua launches Alza; eyes 33.3% market share next year
Meena L. Ramadas.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23, 2009) : National carmaker Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua (Perodua) expects to increase its market share to 33.3% by the end of next year with the introduction of its new Alza Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) and the increase in consumer demand.

Perodua managing director Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar said today the company currently accounts for 31.1% of the total industry volume (TIV).

He said Perodua expects to surpass its initial sales revenue target of RM7 billion this year as the sales of the Alza MPV is expected to boost revenue.

"So, we are actually seeing an increase to RM7.3 billion this year as we had a 20% production increase in the middle of the year," Hafiz told newsmen at the launch of Alza MPV by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the KL Convention Centre today.

He said the company expects the Malaysian Automotive Association's (MAA) estimation of TIV to increase from 520,000 this year to 530,000 next year.

Despite Perodua registering a 2% decrease in unit sales this year, at 164,000 units as opposed to 167,000 units last year, the company will be increasing its target unit sales next year.

"Our sales target for next year is 176,000 units with the introduction of the Alza, and we expect to increase this target to 180,000 units in the second quarter next year," said Hafiz.

He also said the company had to stop its scrap scheme as the company's target of 10,000 units had doubled to 20,000 in six months from April to October this year.

"The scrap scheme translates to dollars and cents out of our pocket because we were spending RM100 million on those 20,000 vehicles," said Hafiz.

Meanwhile, Perodua will be increasing the production of Alza MPV, which is priced between RM56,000 and RM64,000 each, to 4,000 units monthly next year in line with the expected increase in unit sales to between 3,500 and 4,000 units a month.

The advanced version Alza MPV, which will only be delivered from March, will fetch between RM67,000 and RM70,000 each.

The company has spent RM300 million on platform investment that includes research and development on the Alza.

Hafiz said the Alza is targeted at 30- to 40-year-olds with young families as well as single urbanites.

"Preliminary numbers indicate that 80% of the MPV buyers are aged between 30 and 40 while the remaining 20% are single, urban people," he said.

He also said the bookings of the MPV had been encouraging, with 3,500 registrations in only 10 days from Nov 13.

Hafiz also said the current MPV market share is 10% of the TIV and "can easily increase to 30% by the end of next year".

Alza, with nearly 90% local content, is available in six colours – ebony black, ivory white, pearl white, medallion grey, glittering silver and classy purple.

Hafiz said the company's next launch will be the MyVi replacement in 2011.

Pillow Fight at Penang Times Square

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 06:38 AM PST

Last weekend was pretty fun-filled to me. I took my Saturday off, less study but was out for a whole day to see the event organized by the Leo Club. It had been a few months that I have been confining myself from attending Leo Club activities because of exams and studies, another thing is that I have already retired myself as the Vice President of the club.

Basically, I am out of Leo Club of Chung Ling High School, but as in between of transition to a new Leo Club (for high school graduates and young adults), I still consider myself as a Chung Ling's Leo.

IMG_4622 by nicholaschan.

So what happened last Saturday was there's a first and ever pillow fight party happened at Penang Times Square, jointly organized by Catcheye and Leo Clubs. Long before, I didn't think I will be there, but the hard part of the exam had past, so I took a break from study.

It's so good to see the Leo Club friends there and I was there as an observer, not helping on anything, but just see, and take photos, and say hi to everyone.

IMG_4635 by nicholaschan.

This was not just a party, pillow fighting, you beat me and I beat you. It's a fund raising event, and there's a need of ticket and pillow, which all selling goes to charity. People was allow to bring their pillow but I think getting their pillow is better because they provided cheap pillow with lots of feather. =D

Penang CM says land conversion brought RM8.2m revenue - nizar nizar nizar nizar nizar nizar

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 06:58 AM PST

Lim defended the land conversion. — File pic

PENANG, Nov 22 — Penang profited RM8.2 million when it converted 1.4 hectares of land for the PDC Heritage Hotel (PHH) joint-venture project from leasehold to freehold, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said amid swirling controversy over the Pakatan Rakyat government's land policy.

Lim said the revenue came from RM6.32 million for conversion to freehold and another RM1.89 million as additional premium to change conditions for the prime land at the heritage buffer zone. The chief minister yesterday declassified minutes of meetings by the state exco, state land committee and the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) over the piece of land.

"RM8.2 million is a big revenue source for the state government," the chief minister said in a statement issued today.

He also noted the cost of raising PHH's equity by 1 per cent to 50 per cent was borne by YTL Hotel and Properties Sdn Bhd, the joint-venture partner in the project.

"What is important is that PHH is no longer controlled 51 per cent by a private company but is equally shared with PDC having 50 per cent share over the land and can determine the project's direction," said Lim, adding private companies that hold 51 per cent equity can carry out anything and ignore PDC's views.

Lim had said yesterday that based on a letter from YTL Corporation on May 9, 2007, the former Penang chief minister had agreed in principle on Jan 18, 2007 to convert the land to freehold for PHH and on condition that the land was "for residence and business only".

He said the letter from PDC on July 17, 2007 asked PHH to make an application to convert the land to freehold, adding the project was neglected and in an "abandoned" state since YTL forwarded a development plan on Aug 1, 2008 and this had attracted the attention of Unesco which inquired about the project given that the site was inside the Unesco heritage buffer zone.

"To revive the project to bring back progress as well as increase returns for the government and the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP), I had negotiations with all parties, including the developer YTL H&P, on the condition to not bring about loss to the people and the state government," he said.

He said the conversion to freehold status was approved and later ratified by the executive council on June 3, 2008 with three additional conditions for the benefit of the public and the state government.

In today's statement, Lim also countered claims that his statement has not rebuffed Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad's allegations that he had lied to the state assembly sitting in August about his government's land policy.

"A preliminary review by the Land and Mines Office about Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad's allegations is that his question is towards state land that is under lease. According to the Land and Mines Office, this is state land held under State Secretary Incorporated (SSI).

"At this point there is no such application received by the SSI," Lim said.

He said Umno's allegations are baseless and politically-motivated to bring down the Pakatan Rakyat state government.

"It looks like the CAT administation by the state government is so effective that Umno and Barisan Nasional have to create stories to instil hate towards the Pakatan Rakyat," said the chief minister, referring to his state's "Competency, Accountability and Transparency" concept.

As Tan Kee Hian pointed out, agri-business is a viable venture that Sibu may go into to take Little Foochow to the next cycle of development.

The building blocks (components) for the agri-business are as follows:

1. Intense application of science and technology in the business.
2. Large scale, industrialised operations.
3. On-going applied R&D and buildup of knowledge on agri-business.
4. Qualified and experienced professional and semi-professional resources in technical, scientific and management domains.

Gani Patail Berniat Jahat Terhadap Anwar - Peguam

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 04:29 AM PST

-Bernama

Permohonan Penolakan Pertuduhan Kes Liwat II Ketua Umum PKR 1 Disember Ini

Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur menetapkan 1 Disember ini sebagai tarikh sebutan semula kes permohonan penolakan pertuduhan liwat Ketua Umum Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Keputusan itu dibuat Hakim Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah selepas pihak pembelaan diwakili Sivarasa Rasiah mengemukakan hujah mengenai tiga pekara asas utama mengapa mahkamah perlu membatalkan kes berkenaan.

-TVS

Polis Masih Diperguna UMNO-BN, Tarik Balik Permit Ceramah

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 04:10 AM PST

Ketua Umum Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim menyifatkan Polis DiRaja Malaysia masih terus diperguna UMNO-Barisan Nasional.

-TVS

SPR Tak Perlu Makan Buah Kedondong!

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 03:31 AM PST

Bagaimanapun, saya bersyukur apabila doktor mengesahkan anak saya sihat," katanya.

Selain bayi itu, Ali yang bekerja sebagai ejen pengimport mempunyai empat anak iaitu Mohd Amirudin Mohamed, 13, Nor Hafisah Mohamed, 12, Mohd Nazirul Mubin Mohamed, 10 dan Nor Hasyimah Mohamed, 6. -SH

The Quest For Delicious Roti Babi

Roti babi literally means pig bread. It is actually bread with pork filling. I am not sure if it is Nyonya or Hainanese in origin because Nyonya recipe books have it too but the ingredients have a strong Hainanese influence. Whatever its origins, I love it nonetheless. Mum used to make roti babi once in a blue moon. It is difficult to find roti babi that tastes like the ones she used to make.

I do not have the exact recipe but I did watch when she made it. It was a lot of work. That was why she did not make it often. The main ingredient for the stuffing is minced pork and crab meat. The crabs are steamed and the meat removed from the shell. Cabbage, carrots, onions and coriander are coarsely chopped. All these are then mixed together with thick soy sauce, light soy sauce and pepper.

Finely chopped garlic is stir fried in the kuali with cooking oil until fragrant. The mixture is then added in and stir fried until the meat is cooked. She would usually have bought several loaves of unsliced bread from the bakery. One loaf makes four thick slices. A slit is made on one side of the crust and the mixture carefully stuffed inside. The bread is then coated with beaten eggs and deep fried until golden brown. The dipping sauce is usually Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce with cut red chillies.

As a kid, I used to dislike roti babi because it was greasy, cabbage was not one of my favourite vegetables, and the taste of Worcestershire sauce made me nauseous. Over the years, I acquired a liking for French toasts which is what roti babi partially is. Now, I am hankering for roti babi although I cannot have too much of it. My low-protein diet only allows at most half a portion.

Here in Kuala Lumpur, I only know of two places that serves roti babi. Kedai Makanan Yut Kee at Jalan Dang Wangi is as authentic as Hainanese kopitiams can be. They serve roti babi and pork chop, among others. Yut Kee's roti babi filling is small bits of sliced pork and looked rather pale for the lack of thick soy sauce. It exuded a familiar aroma but the taste was somewhat different from what I have come to like.

The other is at the newly opened food court called Hu Tong at lower ground level of Lot 10. Wuan took me there specifically because the food court serves non-halal food. There is even a Klang bak kut teh stall. Wuan wanted to order that but they were already sold out by 6.00 pm. The stall that serves roti babi, aptly named Georgetown Penang, also sells a variety of popular Penang hawker food such as laksa, Hokkien mee and char koay teow. The roti babi filling had hints of thick soy sauce but there was no aroma of deep fried eggs.

Perhaps, I will have better luck hunting for the style of roti babi that Mum used to make in Penang. I know Hai Onn Hainanese Restaurant in Burmah Road has roti babi in their menu. I remember Dad used to take me there for their choon peah (spring rolls). I believe the same cook is no longer there. Reallybites posted about the roti babi she had at Hai Onn last year. The cook needs to improve on her cooking skills to make the food more presentatable. The photo that Reallybites took looked unpalatable.

If you, my dear readers, know of any place that serves a decent piece of roti babi, please do share with me here. My good neighbour Mr. Tan in Penang offered to make roti babi when I next go back to Penang but I reckoned that it will be too much work for just a few slices. Mind you, he makes a mean serving of roti babi, perut ikan and other popular Peranakan dishes. In the mean time, my quest for roti babi just like how Mum used to make continues.

Wala' Tetap Wala', Tapi Asri Dan Nakhaei Pun Kena Sepak

-smartlife

Kota Siputeh : Mahkamah Tinggi Tolak Rayuan SPR

Posted: 22 Nov 2009 11:49 PM PST

-malaysiakini

Nik Aziz Arah Arriffahmi Letak Jawatan

Posted: 22 Nov 2009 11:56 PM PST

Menantu Nik Aziz letak jawatan
