New Year Eve Countdown

New Year Eve Countdown

New Year Eve Countdown

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 09:00 AM PST

Another New Year Eve (NYE) Countdown is on its way... I was glad that i got invited to NYE Twenty Ten countdown @ KLCC this year... My friend has organized this event and he has booked the venue for all of us to countdown together....

My last NYE countdown @ the street was in year of 2005. Yup~ It was 4 years back... My ex-colleague from US was here on business trip. So we were having our countdown @ The Curve. I still remembered clearly, we were stuck in the carpark of The Curve for at least half and hour and ended up decided to wait @ Starbucks until 2:30am... After 4 years, this will be the year that i countdown on the street again... :p Hopefully there will not be a massive jam and stuck in KLCC carpark until 5am :p

Anyway, let's do a flashback to the NYE countdown 2009... because of avoiding those massive jam @ KL downtown or PJ... I decided not to join any group of my friends for countdown last year... so I ended up setting my camera on my balcony. I managed to shoot the fireworks @ KL city... I know one blogger wanna to stand @ my balcony and enjoy the scenery of KL this year... lalalalala :p

Birdie Eye View of KL city before the fireworks
KL city clean and clear

Fireworks started @ 12am (birdie eye view)
Three main places: Merdeka Square, Bintang Walk and KLCC.

Let's zoom into further via my Nikon D70 18-200mm VR lens... Nice?

Fireworks @ KLCC

Fireworks @ Merdeka Square

Welcome to the polluted metropolitan Kuala Lumpur after the fireworks... See how smokey and hazy after those nice fireworks... Pollution pollution.

Folks, my balcony will NOT be opened for Twenty Ten countdown... I will be @ KLCC as i mention earlier... To those of my friends who are going to attend the countdown gathering @ KLCC together with me. See you there eh~

For those who go for the countdown @ KLCC park... if you bump into me and decided to take my picture... please do let me know before you posted my picture eh~ Otherwise, people don't visit your blog ... Don't blame me eh~

Pakatan Rakyat to introduce free wireless Internet?

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 09:03 AM PST

I am reposting this blog in FULL SUPPORT of Raja Petra's demand from Pakatan Rakyat. Not entirely for political reasons, but for more affordable (and hopefully reliable) broadband.

Sweden & Norway have made a 1MB broadband connection a legal right of every citizen in the country. Legal right my friends, meaning you get to sue the govt & win the case if you do not have access to a 1MB broadband connection.

Malaysia? For some reason, i just cant connect to my home router and im now surfing on a 582bps connection on celcom broadband and that's just pathetic. We shout about the IT era and MSC and whatever bullshit & we cant even provide proper broadband to our citizens.

Raja Petra Kamarudin

I have been urging Pakatan Rakyat to introduce free wireless Internet in the states they are governing since March 2008 but to no avail. Soon we shall be celebrating the second anniversary of the 12th General Election and still no free wireless Internet in sight.

Pakatan Rakyat is sleeping and thinks it can win the next general election by doing nothing. I am fed up of trying to convince them about the importance of the Internet to the opposition cause. If Pakatan Rakyat has a death wish then so be it. But just so that I can say "I told you so" when the results of the next general election is announced and Pakatan Rakyat gets sent back to wherever it crawled out from, I want you to see the video presentation below to understand why I am so upset.

Pakatan Rakyat does not seem to understand that it is at a disadvantage when it comes to the mainstream and electronic media and they therefore need the Internet to get their message across to the voters. Ten years ago there were only 280,000 Internet users against eight million voters. Today, the ratio is one-to-one and in time the number of Internet users are going to outnumber the number of voters.

It is plain and simple. He who controls information on the Internet can influence the thinking of the voters. At the height of the Vietnam War, four out of five Americans bought newspapers.

Today, it is only two in five because Americans now obtain their information from the Internet.

The number of newspapers sold in Indonesia today is half what it was during the Reformasi days -- at the height of the anti-Suharto era -- in spite of the increase in population. And this is because Indonesians now also depend on the Internet for their news and information.

Rupert Murdock has predicted that by 2030 the print newspaper would be totally replaced by the Internet. So Pakatan Rakyat ignores the Internet at its own peril. Let us just hope that on 19 December 2009 the delegates to the First Pakatan Rakyat Convention will discuss this issue and do something about the matter.

Jusco Mall Melaka Meletup, I Maut 19 Cedera

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 09:12 AM PST

10 Menteri Gagal Serah KPI, Langkah Najib Hanya Retorik

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 05:55 AM PST

-TVS

Institusi Pentadbiran Negara Tidak Wajar Disalahguna

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 05:37 AM PST

"Insititusi kehakiman rosak kerana Umno, institusi keagamaan, Jais rosak kerana Umno.

FANSURINA ABDULLAH (TVS)

Human rights group: Hamas disinters Christians in Gaza

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 04:47 AM PST

According to Hamas, Christian bodies "pollute the earth". What was it that Obama told us about Islam? Ah yes, "throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality."

(JPost) Every three minutes a Christian is being tortured in the Muslim world, and in 2009 more than 165,000 Christians will have been killed because of their faith, most of them in Muslim countries, according to a human rights organization that is visiting Israel starting Sunday.

Majed El Shafie, who will head a delegation of human rights activists, members of parliament from Canada and religious personalities at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem.

"Hamas digs up the bodies of Christians from Christian burial sites in the Gaza Strip claiming that they pollute the earth," said Reverend Majed El Shafie, President of One Free World International (OFWI), who will head a delegation of human rights activists, members of parliament from Canada and religious personalities.

During their visit to Israel the delegation will hold a conference on human rights and persecuted minorities at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem. The conference will provide new statistics on the persecution of minorities in Muslim countries. More... Hat tip: Eye On The World

The path of those whom you have blessed, not of those who have deserved anger, nor of those who stray

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 06:26 AM PST

There is this article in Malaysiakini, written by a Muslim Is the Quran hostile to Jews and Christians?, by LEENA EL-ALI

I would answer it with a yes, due to it's adherents committing round about 14,000 acts of violence since Sept 11, 2001 . Why ? I will not dwell on the violent verses and abrogations , for there are many which are hostile to the Jews and Christians, as I do not want to muddle the picture. The author tries her utmost to obfuscate. The very use of the 'out of context' term by itself is is obfuscating which means the author is trying to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information. 'She', I assume that author is a 'she'. She goes to great lenghths talking about the Jews and Christians being the 'people of the book', right? She talks about the the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, very slick on her part.

She then insults the Christians by saying, yes she is insulting, as her article is addressed to Christians and other believers, "There is a theological difference with Christian belief: Jesus is a highly regarded prophet, rather than God's son. Still, the overall message is of coexistence, not division". Yeah right, whatever it is , he is the Son of God, not a Prophet as stated by her, that is insulting and blasphemous to Christians.

She then says, "If we listen to its words with an open mind, we might be reassured - if not left in awe - by its resonant and familiar message".

Okay I am going talk about "Enmity towards the Jews and Christians, 17 times a day". These are daily prayers, reciting "The Key" in Arabic unifies all Submitters of the world, regardless of their languages. A total of seven verses, look at the seventh…. . SIRAATAL LAZINA AN`AMTA `ALAYHIM; GHAYRIL MAGHDOOBI `ALAYHIM WALADDAALEEN (the path of those whom You blessed; not of those who have deserved wrath, nor of the strayers).

The path of those whom you have blessed, not of those who have deserved anger, nor of those who stray. Submission Org

Okay, Who is this addressed to ? This: The way of those upon whom You have bestowed Your grace, not (that) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray).

These two paths are the paths of the Christians and Jews, a fact that the believer should beware of so that he avoids them. The path of the believers is knowledge of the truth and abiding by it. In comparison, the Jews abandoned practicing the religion, while the Christians lost the true knowledge. This is why `anger' descended upon the Jews, while being described as `led astray' is more appropriate of the Christians. Those who know, but avoid implementing the truth, deserve the anger, unlike those who are ignorant. The Christians want to seek the true knowledge, but are unable to find it because they did not seek it from its proper resources.

This is why they were led astray. We should also mention that both the Christians and the Jews have earned the anger and are led astray, but the anger is one of the attributes more particular of the Jews. Allah said about the Jews, (Those (Jews) who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath) (5:60). The attribute that the Christians deserve most is that of being led astray, just as Allah said about them, Source:Tafsir

They do this 17 times a day during their prayers. Okay now, is not the asking of wrath upon Jews and Christians by itself not the instillation of enmity in the hearts of the "believers", 17 times a day, not hostility, I ask? The Christians pray the 'Lord's Prayer' an extract, " …forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who trespass aginst us". I forgive you, Leena El-Ali for your trangressions against the Jews and Christians, which was lying. When we pray, we do not seek the wrath of God on others. Anti semitism and hate is part of your prayer. You should not ask," Is the Quran hostile to Jews and Christians?".... When it is you who are the problem! Marina's excuse for anti semitism, her practise of her life is one, not forgetting her dear dad.

Menteri Besar Ada Hak Tentu Pilihan Raya Negeri

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 03:46 AM PST

PKFZ Bekas Pengurus Projek KDSB Didakwa

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 03:19 AM PST

Khamis lalu, bekas Pengurus Besar Lembaga Pelabuhan Klang, Datin Paduka OC Phang turut didakwa pecah amanah membabitkan wang 254.85 juta ringgit.

Turut didakwa, Pegawai Ketua Operasi KDSB Stephen Abok yang menghadapi 2 pertuduhan membuat tuntutan palsu bernilai 5.41 juta ringgit dan arkitek Bernard Tan Seng Swee yang menghadapi 26 pertuduhan bernilai 122.3 juta ringgit. - NIZAM (TVS)

It's not this simple - the PKFZ Scandal

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 12:25 AM PST

Finally someone got charged and brought to the court of justice. The PKFZ had indeed cost taxpayers billions of ringgits, and just like many other corruption cases in Malaysia, those who have been charged are only the ikan bilis. So far, the ministerial level individuals who condoned and involved in this shameful scandal are still at large. The abuse of power had definitely happened, but the government took its first step to legally clear themselves of any wrong doings with the help of MACC.

The whole Port Klang Free Zone scandal is not this simple; without the guarantee of protection and participation of the government, such multi-million-dollars crime could never happen just like that. It's just not convincing enough that a few engineers or architects are the masterminds behind everything happened.

Reports from The Malaysian Insider.

Former Kuala Dimensi engineer charged

UPDATED

By Neville Spykerman

KLANG, Dec 14 — A former engineer with Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB), the turnkey contractor of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), was brought to the Sessions Court here this morning and charged with 24 counts of cheating in connection with the PKFZ scandal.

Law Jenn Dong, 51, is jointly accused with Bernard Tan, an architect with BT Architect, who was charged last week for cheating involving RM122.3 million.

Law is accused of making 24 false claims involving a total sum of RM122.267 million. He claimed trial.

Bail was set at RM250,000 by Sessions Court judge Yong Sazali and the case will be mentioned on Feb 4.

Tan also faces two other charges of making false claims with KDSB chief operating officer Steven Abok.

Apart from the Tan and Abok, the most senior person charged thus far has been former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager OC Phang, who was charged with CBT amounting to RM254 million, to which she claimed trial, last Thursday.

She was granted bail of RM350,000 in one surety. The case will start on Jan 12, on which date she has been asked to surrender her passport.

Abok and Tan's case meanwhile will be mentioned on Feb 4. They have also been released on bail.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had also given his assurance that more people will be charged in relation to PKFZ.

"The charging of other individuals will come in stages," promised the A-G in a statement on Thursday.

The PKFZ controversy arose after the cost to develop the massive 400-hectare integrated cargo distribution hub spiralled from RM2 billion to RM4.6 billion.

Law is accused of cheating PKA into endorsing payment to KDSB for electrical infrastructure work which allegedly was not carried out.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years' jail, whipping and a possible fine for each of the 24 charges.

So far it's unclear if prominent Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians such as former Transport Minister Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy or Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who controls KDSB, will face any action.

Parliament's Public Accounts Committee recently recommended that Chan and Phang be investigated for criminal breach of trust in the PKFZ scandal.

It also recommended investigations into the role of other government officials serving in PKA when the project was being developed. The PAC found both Chan and Phang to have breached the Financial Procedure Act 1957 by issuing three letters of support and three letters of undertaking without the approval of the Finance Ministry.

The PKA sued Phang on Oct 8 for breach of duties in connection with the scandal-plagued PKFZ project.

Dude, Where Is My Bak Kut Teh?

Posted: 13 Dec 2009 11:21 PM PST

Bak kut teh

We were at this almost newly opened bak kut teh shop. The menu has quite an extensive offering of pork cuts. There were ribs, meat, trotters and intestines, as well as braised sea cucumber and stir fried vegetable dishes. The waiter told us that each bak kut teh portion costs RM10. As Wuan and I do not fancy eating too much meat, we ordered one portion of sam chang (belly pork) and two servings of rice and a pot of kuk po (Pu-erh and chrysanthemum tea) to wash down the greasiness from the meat.

It took a while before our order came. It was dinner time. The shop was quite full. We thought it was unusual, despite the customers on the tables around us tucking heartily into their food, that our olfactory senses did not detect any hint of the herbal aroma unique to bak kut teh. The arrival of our order confirmed that. There was none of the aroma that would usually permeate from the soup and meat. Perhaps, that was another style of bak kut teh that we have not savoured before.

The serving came with a very economical portion of soup as is synonymous with Klang bak kut teh which I assumed it was. Bak kut teh from elsewhere came with a generous serving of soup. On the first bite, I detected a whiff of peanut. Maybe that was just my imagination. The meat was tender, very tender. I liked it. That was the only thing I liked about the entire meal.

We both agreed that the soup was unappealing, bordering on being watered down. The taste of the meat was mild, to say the least. We had to dip it into the soy sauce to make it more palatable. What a waste to fritter away my protein quota for dinner on a meal as lacklustre as that. The bill came to a shocking RM22. The kuk po alone cost RM8! One thing for sure, I will not be caught eating there again.

Kuala Dipang: Kerajaan Abai Keselamatan Rakyat

Posted: 13 Dec 2009 11:02 PM PST

-FMT

Pahang Bakal Dapat MB Baru?

Posted: 13 Dec 2009 10:30 PM PST

— Sidang Online

Music Monday - In The Year 2525

Posted: 13 Dec 2009 09:51 PM PST

I know this is going to sound a little weird seeing as how I'm not one who likes to participate in memes, tags and whatnots, not voluntarily anyway. So this is going to sound a little out of character for me. And don't you dare laugh at me! LOL!

I've seen this Music Monday meme (at least I think it's a meme) for quite some time now on loads of blogs while blog hopping. And some of the songs featured were kinda cool and reminded me of my long gone youth ... boohoohoo!

Anyways, I decided to participate in Music Monday for the very first time. (I can see you laughing over there!). But just a word of warning though. Don't be too surprised by some of the songs that I listen too.

I don't really have a preference of songs or singers (though I do have some all time favourites) but my Music Monday selections are going to feature some of the more urmmm, unique songs out there that caught my fancy. For me, as long as I like the song, I'll listen to it. They don't even have to be in English, mind you ... LOL!

So today, I'll start off my first Music Monday selection with this song by Zager and Evans titled In The Year 2525. Denny Zager and Rick Evans were a folk rock duo best remembered for their chart topping 1969 hit, In The Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus).

I don't know how many of you have even heard of this song but I like this line in particular:

... In the year 9595
I'm kinda wondering if man's gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing ...

It kinda describes perfectly what man is doing to this beautiful Earth of ours. And with the way we're screwing the Earth, 2020 may not even be possible let alone 2525! Until next week then :D
