'NajibRazak: Now having a meal with Altantuya'

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 08:54 AM PST

Rewind to a court proceeding that took place on June 29, 2007:
Karpal Singh: You said after Altantuya came back from France, she showed you a picture. Can you tell us what the picture was?

Burmaa: There was a picture ... having a meal. A picture of Altantuya having a meal with Razak Baginda and a Malaysian government official and other people.

Karpal Singh: Who was the government official in the photo?

Justice Mohd Zaki: You should ask her whether she knows him or not.

Burmaa: Najib Razak. I remember the name Najib Razak because the name Razak is the same. I thought maybe they were brothers.

(Source: The Star Online - Picture causes ruckus in court)

The Malaysia Insider reported yesterday that 'NajibRazak: Now having chicken rice for lunch'. The first thought that came to me, 'Did he have a lovely lunch in memory of Altantuya?' Mmmm...must be simply yummy.

Racism: Towards Year Zero! nizar nizar nziar nizar

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 08:53 AM PST

Comment by Kua Kia Soong, the director of Suaram, in Malaysiakini.

After Nazri had called Mahathir a racist for supporting the discredited BTN, the latter retorted, saying, "Umno, MCA and MIC are all racist parties...Get out of these racist parties if you are anti-racist!"

Finally (and for the first time!), we have heard it from the horse's mouth ('Ma' in Mahathir Mohamad means 'horse' in Mandarin) that the component parties in the ruling coalition are all racist. It slipped out from the mouth of the same man who had written The Malay Dilemma after he had been baited by an Umno detractor for being a racist.

Meetings & shopping

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 05:39 AM PST

I hate meetings. But we need to have meetings especially to get things organised and to ensure that plans are carried out.

Well, Buddies was invited to send a representative to a meeting called by Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Perak to discuss the state level of the National Strategic Plans for HIV/AIDS – for Perak Departments & Agencies. It was important to know the latest updates on the issue, and since I was free this afternoon, I went.

It was quite a pleasant surprise to notice that quite a big number of government agencies were represented this time around. The last time I attended a similar meeting sometime mid-year, many agencies did not send any reps.

Good for me, the more agencies represented, the more networking I get. As a matter of fact, since the Welfare Department was also represented this time, and questions were raised as to whether they'd be setting up any shelter homes for HIV infected women and children in Perak, I took the opportunity to meet up with the lady personally after the meeting. I asked if there was a policy for existing shelter homes under the welfare department (like the ones for problematic teenagers) to reject HIV cases.

She told me there was no such policy and that the homes should still accept such cases as long as the criteria is met ie pregnant or problematic teenagers. So I told her about Sharifah's case earlier this year. I told her that while initially the lady whom my colleague spoke to had no objections to accepting Sharifah, the moment my colleague told her Sharifah has HIV, the lady immediately said no. The officer I met told me by right Sharifah should have been accepted. Well then, she'd better disseminate the info to all their staff. Otherwise, we'd be getting different answers from different officers all the time.

And oh, an officer who sat beside me, a lady doctor representing one of the PKDs, when given my card, first kept quiet. But after a while, she asked about the pronunciation of my NGO. She was quiet at first thinking the society was a Buddhist association. I highlighted to her about the difference in the spelling between Buddies and Buddhist. Sigh… don't people know of the word buddy, which would be buddies when it becomes plural? Thank goodness, the officer who presented the papers for today pronounced our name correctly. In fact he expressed his appreciation for our assistance in providing support to PLHIVs especially at the ID clinic.

Ah well, no meetings tomorrow, but I will instead be going shopping.

Oh, I used to hate shopping too – and I still hate shopping on weekends. But for the children of the poor families under my care, I will still go shopping but I will make myself hate it less by going on a weekday instead of a weekend.

Tomorrow it will be Sofie's children. Then on Monday I will take Yati's children.

Join me shopping, anyone?

Mahathir "Rosakkan" Partinya Sendiri

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 06:07 AM PST

Mahathir pula mencabar Nazri supaya meletak jawatan jika beliau (Nazri) anti-rasis.

-FMT

artikel Utusan Malaysia Bangkitkan Kemarahan Kaum India

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 06:00 AM PST

Honey, I'm Embarrassed By What You Do!

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 05:51 AM PST

I didn't really want to post anything today but this one was just too good not to post :D

I was on the way to work this morning and as always, I'll have the radio turned on to my favourite station which is Light FM. They play quite a bit of cool eighties songs (yes, I think songs from the 80's are cool) seeing as how I'm a child of eighties music.

Every morning before the 9am news, they always have some topic they'd be discussing and open the lines for phone in opinions, criticism or suggestions by their listeners. The topic are varied ranging from some pretty cool ones, some weird ones concerning exam tables to some really stupid ones (in my opinion anyway) that are not worth mentioning.

This mornings topic caught my attention. Let me ask you this question. Would you be embarrassed by what your other half does for a living? And I mean an honest living. Well, there was this lady who called in and was asking for opinions on what to do about her predicament.

You see, her fiancé is working as a delivery man and she's pretty embarrassed by it. She wants to know if he should upgrade his job status and whether she should eventually marry him or not (or something along those lines cos I missed the start of it). She says that her fiancé is a very loving and caring man, is everything she wants in a man, blah, blah, blah and yet she's embarrassed by his status as a delivery man?

Come on woman? He has an honest job and I don't think he lied to you about what he was working as when you guys met cos you wouldn't have got engaged to him if that was the case. You say he loves you very much, is very caring and that he's everything you want him to be and yet, you're embarrassed by what he does, an honest job at that!

Why the heck did you even get engaged to him in the first place then? What? Was he a CEO then? How can you be embarrassed of someone you claim to love just because he's working as a delivery man? Is that really so bad? Does the job really make a difference?

Yes, I understand your concerns that when you get married, have kids, maybe become a stay at home mom and you're worried that maybe his pay cheque based on a delivery man's standards may not be able to give you all you want. I know we can't live on just love alone, money plays an important part in life. That's a reality no one can escape from.

But it's not like he has no job or is some sleazy drug pusher, a pimp, a loan shark or even a politician (LOL!). Now, those you have every right to be embarrassed about, not because he's just a delivery man. And you say you love him. You even got engaged to him.

Yet now you're having second thoughts because you're embarrassed by his job. After all, what would your friends say during your gossip sessions when they all talk about their CEO husbands or fiancé's and you have to talk about your DELIVERY man husband! We don't want that now do we? Oh, the shame! Worse still, imagine how that would go down with the parents. What? I've got a delivery man for a son-in-law? We really can't have that now, can we?

What's even worse, you go on air and ask people's opinions about it even. You know, if I was that fiancé of yours, I'd be even more embarrassed by you and your attitude. If you ask my honest opinion, you don't really love him as much as you say you do. To even be embarrassed of what he does for a living is really shallow.

Give the guy a break, maybe he enjoys doing what he does, maybe it's hard to get a better high paying job (trust me, I'm speaking from experience here), maybe the moon revolves around the earth, whatever but at least he loves you and is honest with you and not embarrassed by what he does.

I know I'm a little bit too emotional about this but it was something I found ridiculous. Come on woman, here's a man who loves you and as you say, even adores you so why are you even embarrassed about what he does? You should be thinking about planning your lives together and not about how embarrassing his lowly job is (as you perceive it).

I really don't know what to say anymore but personally, I think you should break off your engagement with him cos he doesn't deserve the embarrassment you're going to cause for him. After all, you're only 28, so there's still loads of time for you to scout around out there for some manager, director, doctor, rocket scientist or something. And I wish you luck in all your future endeavors.

Sibu In The Blue Ocean - Part 30

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 04:59 AM PST

Having a full-fledged university in Sibu remains a dream. We have been voicing out, but the path towards realising it is still bumpy.

Tan Kee Hian said, instead of establishing a "Vanilla" University, Sibuians should aim for a "Polytechnic" University. This is his fifth Blue Ocean Strategy working towards turning Sibu around.

In the previous post, I talked about Kee Hian's Strategy (1) for "Polytechnic" University. His Strategy (2) is as follows:

Components of the "Polytechnic" University:

-University College (undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and professional qualifications)

-"Polytechnic" (diplomas and semi-professional qualifications)

-Multi-disciplinary Centres for Development and Applications

-Centre for Lifelong Learning

The photo shows Lanang Bridge, Sibu. Education is really like a bridge.

Happiness is.....(Part 4)

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 05:45 AM PST

Happiness is....well, simply being bald! After all, as the Chinese are very fond of saying, 9 men out of 10 would be rich. The only problem is, I am still at No. 10 - being a wage earner!

For a long time now, I have been the subject of jokes (even abuse at times) by friends (some so-called) due to my bald head. Depending on how much I need that friend, sometimes I of course tell him/her off if the joke is overboard.

As people say, if you don't love yourself, who would? If you don't respect yourself, who would? I suppose one can do without a friend or two who abuse you or who think they are more superior than you anyway. Friends joke but even jokes have limit, mind you. To quote the late Datuk Felix Golingi, "I would not use my position/power to put people down, but neither would I allow people to use their position/power to put me down".

Then, on Sunday 25 October 2009, I read what perhaps was the best 'defence' of a bald head! Management guru and author Ken Blanchard who is bald hit it right on top of the nail when he said: "God only made a few perfect heads, the rest He covers with hair." (See picture above)

I read the quote in Borneo Post in a feature article written by Phyllis Wong aka Yan. Phyllis is a senior journalist and as Yan is also a blogger (

Among Ken's books are One Minute Manager. He is also a religious man, having written Lead Like Jesus, among others. In fact, Phyllis met the management guru at a Lead Like Jesus seminar in Singapore in October. To read Phyllis' full article on her encounter with him, either go to the archive/library and get a copy of Oct 25 issue of the Borneo Post or simply go to her blog and search her archive.

One up for the bald!

Taktik padam Skandal PKFZ – Anwar

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 04:50 AM PST

Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (gambar) menyifatkan penahanan bekas Pengurus Besar Lembaga Pelabuhan Klang (LPK), Datin Paduka OC Phang dan dua lagi, hanya satu permulaan kecil.

Penasihat DAP, Lim Kit Siang pula menganggap perkembangan itu cuma berkaitan usaha kecil dalam permasalahan besar (small piece of a larger picture) skandal berkenaan.

-FMT

PKFZ : Bekas Pengurus Besar LPK Didakwa

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 04:25 AM PST

-TVS

Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz has called Tun Dr. Mahathir the 'father of all racism'. Now, if Tun Dr. Mahathir is the father of all racism, then Nazri must be the 'spoil son of all racism'.

This spoil son of all racism can also be described as a 'loose cannon' who speaks without much substance, and assumes that all others are as dumb and stupid like he is. Remember the challenge he offered to Karpal Singh to act to prosecute Datuk V. K. Lingam of the 'korek korek korek' fame, since the government has found no substantial reason to prosecute Lingam. I am still waiting for a follow-up of the offer made by Nazri, for I know there will be none. It was just hollow talk for which this spoil son of all racism is famous for.

I also remembered during one of the parliamentary sittings prior to the 2008 General Elections where he proudly said that the opposition would be trounced during the elections, but the elections results proved otherwise. The BN lost four states to the opposition, and they now have a much stronger representation in parliament. He is fortunate to remain minister.

I do not know what was in the mind of Nazri when he decided to lash out at Tun Dr. Mahathir over the BTN issue. Both had opposing views which I suppose is rather personal. Nazri, despite him being a government minister had made a statement concerning the BTN issue that is quite contrary to that of DPM Muhyiddin. But why had Nazri decided not to label Muhyiddin, the way that he had labeled Tun Dr. Mahathir? If Nazri is lost for a label, I do not mind suggesting one for him.

The spat between Nazri and Tun Dr. Mahathir is not new, but Nazri being a Malay and to have once served under Tun Dr. Mahathir, I can only describe Nazri's act as being uncouth and 'kurang ajar'. I personally do not know how Nazri was raised by his parents, but certainly photos of what is reportedly to be his son in the most compromising pose with women that is widely posted in the Internet, poorly reflects the sort of father Nazri is to his son.

The only advice that I can offer to Nazri is for him to take a good look at himself, and to quickly realise that what he did is awfully wrong and is a poor example of a Malay.

To ALL the Elin and Tiger Woods, listen!

Tigers! You have betrayed your wives!
Why couldn't you guys be loyal and stay away from infidelities?

God have blessed you people with so much wealth and fame. You mean to say you got bored with your wife and kids? That making love to other cheap 'whores' was the ultimate answer?

So it was in your blood all this cheat easily on your wives? the Elins everywhere, just leave the marriage and make sure you lug the whole bank account that was allocated to you. You Elins are a lucky lot. You have so much wealth in your goodbye luggage.

Then again there are many Non-Elins who have to start from scratch after all the years of backbreaking devotion.
All because of their Non-Tigers who can't stop sleeping around and cheating on their wives even though they have little fame and hardly a fortune!

Yes..not every couple are blessed with matrimonial happiness.

Its so very painful for them.
So bloody hurtful!
No one wants a broken marriage. But if its fated, well accept all the smelly garbage with dignity!
God has HIS reasons!

To All The Newlyweds..

Be honest!
Do not waste another person's love and life!

Russians claim that Hitler's remains be real

Posted: 10 Dec 2009 01:39 AM PST

The chief archivist of the Russian secret service FSB said internal indeed in the possession of the remains of Adolf Hitler. The U.S. investigators Nick Bellantoni and Linda Strausbaugh claimed in September that the DNA of the remains "unequivocally feminine '. "The researchers are not in contact with us, 'says Vasily Christoforov. "With what they could have compared the DNA?"

The service is owned by Hitler's jawbone and a fragment of his skull with a bullet hole, which are brought to Moscow in 1948. In addition the archive also contains the bloody arm of the sofa from the bunker where Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, said the archivist.

Christoforov confirms that the bodies of Hitler, Eva Braun, Goebbels and the couple with their six children were burned in 1970, and their ashes in a river were thrown. "This was probably a good solution. Otherwise the place of burning a place of pilgrimage for fascists. Such people are everywhere and unfortunately, in Russia"

BEHIND a man's success is a woman. Or women. My two cents: We are all human. And that is a blessing. But it can very easily becomes a curse. No, it is not something that is "fated". We are free to do as we like. And therein lies the problem. But why live in the past which we cannot undo anyway? I remember reading somewhere: Saints are sinners who keep on trying to be good. Prayer may help...

"Tiger's presence at a golf tournament and being on the leader board generates significantly increased ratings," said Neal Pilson of consulting firm Pilson Communications and former president of CBS Sports. "When deals are negotiated, the fact Tiger is a member of the tour influences what networks pay."

After the accident, Woods missed a tournament in California he had hosted for the past nine years and he has not discussed when he will return to play.

The business environment was already tough for the PGA Tour as it suffered losses of corporate sponsors over the past year. While this year's numbers are not final, PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has said charitable donations raised at tournaments — a reflection of the sport's revenue — are expected to be down from 2008's record US$124 million (RM421 million), due to the recession.

For many fans, Woods is golf. Almost single-handedly, he has ushered in an era of multimillion-dollar endorsements and lucrative appearance money since turning professional in 1996.

His background and spotless reputation spread golf to millions of new fans, and he became among the world's most marketable athletes. Product endorsements made him, perhaps, the world's richest athlete, with assets estimated at US$1 billion. MORE

Panglima Tentera Thailand, Jeneral Chaiyasit Shinawatra mengesahkan letupan-letupan berkenaan.

- Agensi

Bombing greets Abhisit and Najib in the South/Sembilan Letupan Bom Di Selatan Thailand

Both leaders promise to address grievances
Narathiwat - Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his Malaysian counterpart, Najib Razak, made a historic visit to the southernmost province of Narathiwat to rename a bridge between the two countries.

The visit came amid a flurry of bomb attacks in the restive region where nearly 4,000 people have died since January 2004.

The two leaders arrived in a helicopter in Waeng district to commemorate the Thai-Malay Friendship Bridge over the Sungai Kolok River, a natural boundary that cuts through a Malay-speaking region where most people on either side are related.

"With so many people and goods crossing this bridge every day we are strengthening our bonds," Abhisit said at the ceremony.

"I have no doubt that this Friendship Bridge will serve its noble purpose," Najib added.

The Malaysian premier's three-day visit to Thailand was billed as a model of how the two countries, despite the security challenges along their common border, could cooperate.

One of the subjects both sides agreed upon was eliminating the dual citizenship held by people along the border by first exchanging personal bio-data of residents, such as fingerprints.

The leaders also visited a public school, an Islamic school as well as a handicraft village and a "widows' village" occupied by some 140 families affected by the unrest.

Security forces were mobilised in the thousands in areas visited by the leaders, but the violence-wracked region lived up to its reputation and greeted them with a higher-than-usual spate of violence.

Four bombs went off in Yala's provincial capital yesterday morning, with one killing a forensics police officer and three security officials, while another wounded two soldiers and a policeman assigned to a security detail for teachers.

Earlier in the day, Thai marines were wounded in a bomb and gun attack in Narathiwat as they tried to collect banners criticising Abhisit's policies on the South.

Banners posted throughout the three provinces in both Jawi (Arabic script) and Rumi (Roman script) read "Patani sebahagian daripada Malaysia" or "Patani is part of Malaysia".

"They could have been posted with the intention of annoying the delegations," Pattani Senator Worawit Baru said, pointing out that militants often spray-painted "Patani Merdeka" (Free Patani) on building facades.

On Tuesday a bomb killed two soldiers along a road in Narathiwat that Abhisit and Najib were scheduled to travel through.

In a related development, the Patani United Liberation Organisation (Pulo), a long-established group of separatists, said they welcomed the statement from Najib and Abhisit saying the grievances of Malays in the South would be addressed and that a political solution to the conflict would be sought.

"It is important for the government to speak to the people of Patani, including the Patani Malay movement that has been forced to resort to armed struggle, to ensure that the voice of the people can be heard and their grievances taken into account," Pulo said in a statement yesterday. -nationmultimedia
