Perkasa has two Malay ultras, Hindraf has one-and-only Waytha, MCA has no messiah!

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 09:47 AM PDT

Ok, so now Selangor Sultan has distanced himself from Ibrahim Ali. Replacing Sultan Selangor in opening the inaugural assembly of Perkasa is Dr M, the Malay ultra.

Like Anwar, Dr M is also a political chameleon.

In the meantime, Ka Ting said he was no messiah for MCA though he did say that with his experience, he could unite and stabilise MCA. So, what if MCA is 'united and stabilise'? Do the leaders of MCA have the politicial will to fight for the marginalised Chinese? The answer is no because Chinese being Chinese, they only care for their own survival - the Ong Dynasty, Chua Dynasty, Ling Dynasty, Liow Dynasty, Lim Dynasty etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Food and Beverage Fair 2010

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 08:43 AM PDT

[Update]

Daddy is totally in love with the kimchi I bought and telling me to get more stock of it. The fair is only till this Sunday. And the restaurant is all the way at SCIENCE PARK. I'd get lost there la!

Mummy says she accompany me to the fair tomorrow afternoon to get more stock. Or else at the rate Daddy is eating, the kimchi will be gone "in a blink of an eye" – he takes some whenever he goes to the kitchen to take water.

[/Update]

I went to the Food and Beverage Fair at the Suntec Convention Centre with Nick.
Nothing new there. Very much like the previous years. Just feel like going to eat something new.

And since knowing we are going there to eat, we meant going there with an empty stomach at 2.40pm.
Which means from the moment I woke up at 10am till I reached there, I merely survived on 1 banana. HEH.

And so I couldn't wait any longer. First thing I saw was this Chicken Mushroom Mee Sua.
Many people were queuing… In Singapore, as long got queue means the food is nice. =D
$2.50 for a bowl. Reasonably priced, in my opinion.

According to Nick, it wasn't very starchy. Which is good. And for me? Don't ask me to critique food when I am hungry. Cos EVERYTHING taste nice when you are hungry. =)

福州鱼丸 – 4 pieces for $2. Kinda expensive. Could have given 1 more.  The fishballs for sure it taste nice But the wanton which they suggest was nice too, taste a little salty for me. =(

And next up was this Teochew City Seafood Restaurant. Nick was aiming at the Yam Paste.  HAHA.

In case you need the information, here it is..
Teochew City Seafood Restaurant
www.pfs.com.sg
176 Orchard Road #05-16 Singapore 238843
Tel: 6733 3338

It look really spicy uh?

扣肉包 1 for $1.80

Not recommended. =)

This taste normal to me. Like any any other satay stalls. But nick raved that it's nice. So.. you go buy and tell me okay? But price wise, I think its okay. I mean outside 1 stick of satay probably cost you $3.50 to $4 depending whether you ordering pork or chicken. And they give you 1 ketupat, which probably is another 50c more.

(plus another 50c because you are eating at Suntec City and not your downstairs kopitiam – now that makes the difference)

Nick says must credit him. Because he took the above photo and tells me IT'S VERY NICE OKAY! =)

Kimchi at home was OOS (out of stock) so I bought some 400g of kimchi from them. This is a strongly recommended.
1. Kimchi taste fresh.
2. Kimchi taste a little salty and spicy. Spiciness only comes when you are about to finish it. And the spiciness does not stay in your mouth.
3. They placed the kimchi in a porcelain bowl. (Not those prepacked in ziplock bag like those in supermarket
4. When you are sure to purchase, then they scoop and seal on spot.
5. They really keep their kimchi at low temperature. (cos after loitering outside for abt 2 hours, kimchi is still cold when i reach home.)

Oh by the way, they have other preserved side dishes too!

And here is the website of the company: http://www.sarang.com.sg/
87 Science Park Drive, Science Hub, Singapore Science Park 1, Singapore 118260
They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Do check their website for more details.

We went downstairs and saw warehouse sale! The Fine Extra Dark Chocolate  is Nicky bought for me. The rest? Of course is his la.

While shopping around for a handphone cover.. we saw a kid playing with this!

THE FOLDABLE KEYBOARD! And I mean the real keyboard, not the one with caps locks and stuffs.  SO COOL LAAAA!

And tadaaaa~! My new handphone casing. It's light pink. But after I put it on, it looks like purple to me. =\

Kerajaan Umno BN Patut Semak Latar Belakang APCO Worldwide

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 08:29 AM PDT

-TVS

14 Mei Untuk Keputusan Permohonan Khairy Ketepi Penghakiman Ingkar DSAI

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 08:10 AM PDT

Second Round of Kek Lok Si During Tiger Chinese New Year

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 07:00 AM PDT

During the 15 days period of Chinese New Year, Penang most famous pagoda temple lighted up with lots of bulb and LED. It's a good place to visit during Chinese New Year and a good spot of photography for amateur and pro. Well, I went there twice during CNY because the first time was not really in the mood, it's just walkaround and simply shoot.

IMG_6578 by nicholaschan.

Then I decided to go again with Alvin for a serious shoot. I don't want so many people to shoot together because shooting need to be relax, I feel stress when people is around, unless, they don't mind waiting for me to wait for the shutter. Hehe.

IMG_6587 by nicholaschan. IMG_6593 by nicholaschan.

It's a nice place and super nice when the lights are on at night, but sadly, it's only on during some Chinese occasion. Not on normal days though, this suck a bit. It was like day 13 of CNY, people has already got back to work but there's still many people coming up there.

Luckily I was early, no traffic jam and found a nice parking spot. If we were to go up like at 8pm, then it's bad already, it will be a long line on the winding road.

IMG_6595 by nicholaschan.

IMG_6603 by nicholaschan.

My purpose of going there was to shoot, sorry for didn't really pray. =)

IMG_6617 by nicholaschan.

Since it's early, we wait and wait and wait till 7.30pm like that, it's lights on. Everything became different. Pagoda and surrounding changed from beautiful to more beautiful.

So there's me and Alvin, two amateur, shooting here and there. He shoot his and I shoot mine. Met some nice pro photographer too who gave us some nice advice. Looking around, there's like so many people have a DSLR nowadays. Last time, I was like the first who own a DSLR among my friends and now it's not something special anymore, everyone can afford one, and everyone loves photography.

So many lights, so pretty!

IMG_6664 by nicholaschan.

IMG_6668 by nicholaschan.

We paid for the return trip of the lift this time. It's RM4 for return and last time was RM2 for one way. Last time it was late, we only get to go up and not down. This time we were early, so it's up and down. It's even much nicer up there with the very huge giant Kuan Yin statue.

IMG_6669 by nicholaschan.

There's like a little garden there too, this place is more crowded than below. It's people everywhere! And with the nice windy surrounding, it doesn't feel so warm up there. Temperature nowadays are so high in Penang! Mother Earth is dying?

Happy that I get to go as close as the Kuan Yin statue this time. Last tie was because that we were late and lights off, so nothing to see up there.

IMG_6682 by nicholaschan.

There's like bowl surrounding the Kuan Yin statue and devotees and exchange RM11 into coins and put the coins into each bowl to wish for a good luck in everything. Interesting, all the money donated goes to the building fund of the Kuan Yin statue. This Kuan Yin statue has been in renovation and building for don't know how many years already and till now, it's still not done yet. No idea why. But something I know is that it's almost done.

Found a nice big wall at the back of the statue. Very cool, no idea what's that wall means. It sure symbolize or have some kind of art message, but I don't know. I just think it's cool

Gold boom in Gaza

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 07:13 AM PDT

From Al Arabiya Net Gaza's borders are closed and its economy in shambles, but the glittering alleys of the territory's centuries-old gold bazaar are packed with young brides to be. "Not only have we not been hurt by the Israeli blockade, but our business has actually gotten better," gold merchant Iyad Basal says as people cram into his crowded family-run shop."We have not stopped working since the blockade because the gold comes to us through smuggling and Hamas encourages marriage," he adds.

Starving populations do not import and purchase large quantities of gold. All around the world and throughout history, starving populations have sold what jewelry they owned to food traders in exchange for food to feed their kids. People who are seriously worried about starving in the future import and hoard large quantities of canned goods and staple foods. They don't import gold, which cannot be eaten.

For an example of a normal response, consider the Warsaw Ghetto. The Nazis issued the Jews ration books that allowed them only 200 Cal/day, which is a starvation diet. Jews who had a silver bracelet or a gold ring used it as currency to obtain extra food from outside the ghetto, or (if they could scrape together enough) to pay smugglers to hide their kids on the Christian side of the wall, where they were safer. Jewelry was rapidly flowing OUT, from the moment when the ghetto was reestablished until the Nazis liquidated the population.

Gaza is importing gold through its smuggling tunnels. Gold is an expensive luxury, purchased with disposable income. The spokespeople of the Destroy Israel Movement frequently claim that Gaza is "worse than the Warsaw Ghetto." They claim that Israel is starving Gaza. They claim that this is why Gazan terrorists murder civilians across the border in Israel. Three things are clearly true:

1. The spokespeople of the Destroy Israel Movement don't understand the situation in Gaza at all.
2. They don't understand the Warsaw Ghetto at all, and don't want to.
3. They are happy to spout absolute ignorant nonsense as long as it's anti-Semitic ignorant nonsense. Hat tip: Elder of Ziyon

Turkish Nazis

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 06:57 AM PDT

The US has inched toward recognizing the genocide against the Armenians. Peter Lavelle, host of CrossTalk, asks his guests why Turkey has problems confronting its history.

Ronald Suny, an expert on Armenia with the University of Chicago, defines genocide. "The definition of genocide that is most often used is the official U.N. definition in the Genocide Convention of the late 1940s. And that definition argues that a genocide is the intentional killing of all or part of a designated people defined by their faith, their race, their ethnicity or their nationality," he said. Suny explains that during the First World War, the Ottoman Empire sided with Germany and was thus at war with Russia and most of Europe. "When the Ottomans were defeated at a major battle in the winter of 1914-15, the government saw the Armenians, who were on both sides of the Russian-Turkish frontier, as a potential 'fifth column' - a danger, an internal danger to their empire," he said.

"And they then carried out systematically, deportations of Armenians from eastern Anatolia, first demobilizing the Armenian soldiers who were serving with the Ottoman army, forcing them to dig their graves and shooting them. And then women and children, deporting them into the deserts of Syria, massacring them along the way and ultimately killing thousands and thousands when they reached Dayr az Zawr, the end point in the Syrian desert," he added. Suny says the case is clear - the action by the Ottoman Turks was genocide. "There is no doubt that there was, in fact, a state organized, systematic deportation and massacre of a designated population, defined by their religion and ethnicity, namely the Armenians," he said.

"And that it was carried out, initiated and organized by this government. So if you have a mass killing of an ethno-religious group, carried out by a government in order to eliminate those people from their homeland, or to destroy their political and cultural potential - that is, by the conventional definition and most scholarly definitions, a genocide," he continued. Obama's one-sided Middle East policy

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 06:47 AM PDT

Why did Pres. Barack Obama choose to turn a gaffe into a crisis in U.S.-Israeli relations?

And a gaffe it was: the announcement by a bureaucrat in the Interior Ministry of a housing expansion in a Jewish neighborhood in north Jerusalem. The timing could not have been worse: Vice President Joe Biden was visiting, Jerusalem is a touchy subject, and you don't bring up touchy subjects that might embarrass an honored guest.

But it was no more than a gaffe. It was certainly not a policy change, let alone a betrayal. The neighborhood is in Jerusalem, and the 2009 Netanyahu-Obama agreement was for a ten-month freeze on West Bank settlements excluding Jerusalem. Nor was the offense intentional. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu did not know about this move — step four in a seven-step approval process for construction that, at best, will not even start for another two to three years.

Nonetheless the prime minister is responsible. He apologized to Biden for the embarrassment. When Biden left Israel on March 11, the apology appeared accepted and the issue resolved.

The next day, however, the administration went nuclear. After discussing with the president specific language she would use, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Netanyahu to deliver a hostile and highly aggressive 45-minute message that the Biden incident had created an unprecedented crisis in U.S.-Israeli relations.

Clinton's spokesman then publicly announced that Israel was now required to show in word and in deed its seriousness about peace.

Israel? Israelis have been looking for peace — literally dying for peace — since 1947, when they accepted the U.N. partition of Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state. (The Arabs refused and declared war. They lost.)

Israel made peace offers in 1967, in 1978, and in the 1993 Oslo peace accords that Yasser Arafat tore up seven years later to launch a terror war that killed a thousand Israelis. Why, Clinton's own husband testifies to the remarkable courage and vision of the peace offer made in his presence by Ehud Barak (now Netanyahu's defense minister) at the 2000 Camp David talks. Arafat rejected it. In 2008, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert offered equally generous terms to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. Refused again.

In these long and bloody 63 years, the Palestinians have not once accepted an Israeli offer of permanent peace, or ever countered with anything short of terms that would destroy Israel. They insist instead on a "peace process" — now in its 17th post-Oslo year and still offering no credible Palestinian pledge of ultimate coexistence with a Jewish state — the point of which is to extract preemptive Israeli concessions — such as a ban on Jewish construction in parts of Jerusalem conquered by Jordan in 1948 — before negotiations for a real peace have even begun. “where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 06:44 AM PDT

Funny, President Obama was supposed to be against an arrogant foreign policy. Remember his speech in Strasbourg last spring? There had been instances, he told the European students, "where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive." Those days are over, he assured them.

Leave aside the question of whether this characterization of past American arrogance was justified. President Obama now has a year of foreign policy under his belt, and in that time he has managed to snub the British prime minister, alienate the president of France, insult the nation of Honduras when it successfully defended its young democracy from a Chávez wannabe, and undercut the people of the Czech Republic and Poland by tossing aside a hard-won agreement to build a missile-defense shield.

But in no case has his own arrogance been more transparent than in his treatment of Israel. It didn't begin with the recent spat over housing units in Jerusalem. In formulating his policy on the region, the president could have focused his energy on the problem of a terror regime racing toward acquisition of nuclear bombs. He could have noted the civil war raging between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA). He might have addressed the venomous anti-Semitism and race hatred offered as daily fare in Palestinian media and textbooks.

But from its inception, this administration has indicated that it regards Israeli behavior as the chief obstacle to peace in the region. Israel must halt settlements, the president told Prime Minister Netanyahu, or the relationship between the U.S. and Israel would suffer. After seeing the United States acting as its lawyer, the Palestinian Authority, which in the past had negotiated with Israel without preconditions, could not then set the bar lower than the U.S. president.

Though it received little attention at the time, President Obama's rebuke of Israel at the United Nations last October was, particularly in that venue, a deeply unfriendly act. "We continue to emphasize that America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements," the president intoned. As former UN ambassador John Bolton noted at the time, the use of the phrase "continued" rather than "new" potentially delegitimized every inch of land on which Jews reside. That nuance would not have been lost on the Palestinians, who regard all of Israel as "occupied territory."

Even stipulating that the announcement of new construction in Ramat Shlomo was ill-timed, the president's response was extraordinary. Despite the fact that Prime Minister Netanyahu apologized for the bureaucratic gaffe, the president very publicly instructed his secretary of state to call Netanyahu two days later to scold him further — a task the secretary of state apparently fulfilled with gusto.

So while the Obama administration extends its "open hand" to the butchers of Tehran (even after the hand is repeatedly slapped) and truckles to the regime in Syria, it upbraids Israel.

#page
Choosing to excoriate Israel on the matter of these apartments speaks volumes about the president's view of the conflict in general. His outrage is highly selective. Two months before Vice President Biden's visit, Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the PA, attended a "birthday celebration" for the "martyr" Dalal Mughrabi. Mughrabi led eleven terrorists in carrying out the 1978 "coastal road" attack, the worst terror attack in Israel's history. Coming ashore near the northern Israeli city of Haifa, Mughrabi and her heavily armed team hijacked two buses filled with tourists, forced all 71 onto one bus, and attempted to take it to Tel Aviv. Along the way, they machine-gunned motorists and some of the passengers. Bodies were dumped on the highway. When police finally stopped the bus by shooting out the tires, the terrorists killed as many people as they could (37, including 13 children) and set the bus aflame before being killed themselves.

The day after the vice president departed the region, a square near Ramallah was named for Dalal Mughrabi. Tawfiq Tirawi, a member of the Fatah Central Committee (the PA's predecessor organization), told the crowd, "We are all Dalal Mughrabi." Mughrabi is celebrated in other ways as well. Palestinian Media Watch reports that in the past two years, the PA has named two girls' high schools, a soccer match, two summer camps, and a computer center after the "martyr."

To get a sense of the true nature of the conflict, the president need do no more than watch kids' television in the Palestinian areas. On the PA program Chicks, children are encouraged to "explore your country" with a map that shows the entire nation of Israel labeled "Palestine."

I await the secretary of state's outraged call to Abbas. Mona Charen in the National Review

On Gmail and Yahoo mail, a scam for money from a ‘friend’

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 06:42 AM PDT

My brother, a Cardiac Surgeon working in IJN got an e-mail from our friend, UIA lecturer, Ph D holder. As we all are closed friends and even her father is a doctor, my classmate and close friend if we don't know, we could lost some money. I hereby posted the mail he got.

He was lucky, before sending the money, he called me to confirm this e-mail. Actually our friend had just visited me at my clinic to send her mother-in-law who arrived from Burma for medical treatment. I immediately told my brother not to even answer the e-mail because I knew both the husband and wife are in KL. I was sure it was a scam. I alerted my friends and they called their friends working in UIA and Islamic College. Many friends got the similar e-mails.

Source: Malaysian Insider, On Gmail, a scam for money from a 'friend' By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 — When journalist Paul Si logged onto his Gmail and Facebook accounts yesterday, he thought he could go about his personal affairs as usual. But as he was checking for updates, Si was suddenly "kicked" out from both his email and Facebook.

By then, Si felt that something was wrong and shortly after, he discovered that both his social networking accounts had been hacked.

"I realised that my passwords for both my email and Facebook were changed…I realised someone else was using my accounts," Si told The Malaysian Insider.

The 48-year old journalist said the culprit's modus operandi was to pose as the account user and ask for "financial help" from his closest friends.

The hacker, said Si, had utilised the Google Chat, an interactive feature available on Gmail as well as his Facebook personal direct messaging system to communicate or send out "SOS" messages to the 48-year old's friends.

In one of the Google Chat records that took place between the hacker and Si's friends, the former had asked for more than RM1000 to be deposited to an account in Thailand.

Below is the excerpt of the conversation that took place between the hacker and one of Si's friends:

Paul Si: hello

Friend: Tuan

Friend: How goes the paper biz

Paul Si: well enough

Paul Si: hows life with you

Friend: Hectic

Friend: Very the

Friend: Editorial n sales n it

Paul Si: hahaha

Paul Si: i needed to send monney to someone in thailand

Paul Si: i am so so busy

Paul Si: you think you can help me do it and then i can pay you back later?

Friend: K

Friend: Can do

Friend: Send details

Paul Si: oh thanks

Paul Si: MOSES NKONYANE

Paul Si: 3, SUKHUMVIT SOI 30, BANGKOK, THAILAND

Friend: Sounds nigerian

Friend: Emaillah

Paul Si: he is african but not nigerian

Paul Si: i think from kenya

Friend: K

Paul Si: can you go do it now?

Friend: Today Friend: Possible

Paul Si: ok

Friend: How much

Paul Si: just about 1350 rm

Paul Si: the charges should be about 150rm or 200 rm

Friend: Ok no worries

Paul Si: how soon though?

Paul Si: cos i will be online here waiting

Paul Si: are you there? Paul Si signed out.

(The name of the friend is not revealed for privacy purposes)

"I believe he had studied my personal information, who my friends are and such through my Facebook," said Si.

And Si was lucky enough that his friends had called him to verify the requests made by the hacker.

"One of my close friends, a family friend had called and asked if I had asked for money. She was ready to send the money already…they didn't know," he said, adding that the hacker was "convincing" in impersonating him.

It was the swift and cautious response from his friends, said Si, which had prevented the intended scamming from taking place.

Yesterday, it was reported that hackers had been sending out spam emails to some 400 million Facebook users in a bid to steal financial and sensitive personal information.

Si believes he had been the victim of the purported attack. He also believes that there are several perpetrators involved.

"I think they have been using my accounts for about a week now. I only found out a day ago," said the 48 year old.

He said this goes to show the danger of online social networking as more and more users divulge personal information for public viewing.

"People have to be very careful now," he said.

Online scams are not a new phenomena. Authorities have been fighting a tough battle to arrest Internet cash cheats.

Internet studies have showed that millions of personal dollars are lost to online scams.

However, educational portals on online scams have been quite effective in reducing the cheat rates as evident in Si's case.

Zahrain Dihentam Lagi, Ku Li Sifatkan Dakwaan Zahrain Cerita Dongeng

Posted: 19 Mar 2010 06:24 AM PDT

- Bernama
