It's Aw Raykee's birthday! Two months ago, which happened on 18th March 2010. Raykee is Chen Yuen, Chen Yuen is Raykee. Cool Christian name he had there. Mom and dad was away on this day so I was alone and free to go anywhere. Haha.

On that morning, we went to our favourite dim sum place which is the Dim Sum House at Anson Road to had our breakfast.

There's the MAGNIFICENT SIX, me, Chien Chern, Chen Yuen, Arron and Yiphing. We ate and talk. Didn't feel like eating a lot that morning, no idea why. Then we went to play Left 4 Dead 2 at FTZ Cyber Cafe. FYI, that was the first time of me playing Left 4 Dead and learnt how to create a room.

There's one time wanted to play the game but no idea how to create a room. Really noob. Haha.

After that we went to Gurney Plaza. We actually wanted to catch a movie but the queue was so damn long, hate it and so we decided not to watch already. We just walked around and went to eat our afternoon tea at there. Then we also met some friends too.

It's school holiday, so could see many people at the mall.

Then I brought Chen Yuen to Top Shop to pick up a shirt for night's birthday dinner at Autocity. Pretty cool, only then we went home to rest and prepare for night. Yeah.

Idris Jala, you GAIN but why is your village in Sarawak still in PAIN?

Posted: 27 May 2010 10:31 AM PDT

Idris Jala goes back to his corporate roots as he 'sells' subsidy cuts as an necessary evil. Can BN ministers show the way by taking a pay cut? Not much lah...Maybe just 10%? Can or not, Idris Jala? You're telling us, no pain no gain? Please stop preaching your so-called austerity message. Let me tell you, Idris Jala. The truth is all the time, the rakyat is in pain while BN ministers gain!

Why is your village still in pain, still suffering without any electricity??!!

I think you can find the answer in your heart. If not, ask God to show you!

That's not to say that nothing much has been happening. On the contrary; it's been a terribly busy seven days!

Yesterday I went to University Hospital (PPUM) and was relieved to discover that the pressure sores in my legs were not as bad as I thought.

Saman Jika Kerajaan Dan PDRM Minta Maaf Dan Gagal Bayar Pampasan Kepada Mangsa Peluru Sesat

Posted: 27 May 2010 08:44 AM PDT

House visit/grocery delivery

Posted: 27 May 2010 07:33 AM PDT

Busy with the preparations for the seminar on domestic violence, I didn't realise it was already the final week for the month.

Time for this month's grocery delivery! Wah, so soon? I thought I just delivered the groceries… errmm… when ya? Oh yeah… that was last month!

So this morning at about 10 am, I sent the list of items needed to the minimarket. They needed some time to get the things ready for me, so I told them I'd get the things at 1 pm. And yes, by the time I went to the minimarket at 1 pm, the things were all ready at their door. This time I ordered more of the items needed to make kuih, as Sofie has started selling kuih, albeit on a very small scale.

After having lunch and zuhr prayer at home, off I headed to Sofie's house. And when I reached their house, Azlan, Sofie's eldest boy, was sitting at the door. Wow! Usually by that time he'd be off lepak-ing somewhere with this friends. This time it was Ika, the youngest girl who was not around. She had some activities in school and so she was only coming home after 5 pm. According to Sofie, Ika was complaining to her mom yesterday, "Alaa… esok Makcik Afizah datang, tak dapat nak jumpa."

Hmmm… I think it wasn't me that she was eager to see, she was more after the assorted biscuits I usually bring along with me. Usually, she'd open the tin of biscuits right in front of my nose. Today she wasn't around when I came, and so the tin of biscuits remained unopened until I left.

Anyway, other than Sofie and Azlan, also home today when I visited was Saiful. The small 12 year old boy who last month started wearing glasses (with power of 950/750). It is understandable that when he initially started wearing glasses, he felt soooo dizzy.

According to Saiful, he only felt dizzy for the first 2 days. After that things got better and when I visited him today, he looked quite comfortable in those glasses. Hopefully he can concentrate better in school. Gone are the days when Saiful would say, "Cikgu tak nampak!" and the teacher would reply, "Kamu yang tak nampak, bukan cikgu!" :)

Frankly, I think Saiful looks cute in those glasses!

I will be in KL for this week's long weekend, and so I will be doing the second round of delivery (to Lin's house) on Monday.

Should China Ensure Order In Its Neighborhood?

Posted: 27 May 2010 07:08 AM PDT

War talks are in the air on the Korean peninsula. North Korea sank South Korea's warship Cheonan. South Korea retaliated by imposing various sanctions on the North. The North responded by imposing its own sanctions on the South.

War can easily happen, by accident or design. South Koreans are nervous. Americans are nervous. Japanese are nervous. And others are nervous, too. Everyone is looking to China to bring the North Koreans to their sense.

China has many reasons to be hesitant. The American-South Korean military alliance is as much against China as against North Korea. Then, if North Korea collapses under pressure, refugees will flood northeast China. Finally, American troops would come to Chinese border.

If China doesn't get involved, the tension between the North and South will escalate. Willing or not, China must get involved.

But in order to win domestic support, China must clearly articulate its policies opposing any military conflicts between its neighbors, any third country using force against its neighbors, any foreign military bases stationing in the territories of its neighbors and any military alliances in its neighborhood without being included as a member.

I think only when such clear policies are in place, would the Chinese domestic oppinion support a more involvement or cooperative policy on the Korean peninsula and elsewhere.

Being an environmentalist at heart, it is only natural that one of my favorite sites is Monga Bay - Developed by Rhett A. Butler, seeks to raise interest in and appreciation of wild lands and wildlife, while examining the impact of emerging trends in climate, technology, economics, and finance on conservation and development. aims to raise interest in wildlife and wildlands while promoting awareness of environmental issues. Originally the site was based around a text on tropical rainforests that he developed four year period (1996-2000), but today the site has expanded to other topics.

This evening, I came across this article in Monga Bay which almost broke my heart. The excerpt is taken from HERE and after reading it, please visit the site to see the many spectacular photos and do the needful to voice your concerns.

Excerpt from Monga Bay:

With the world's eyes on the environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, many are beginning to ponder the rightness of not just America's, but the world's dependence on fossil fuels. Yet large-scale fossil-fuel energy projects continue to march ahead, including one in the Malaysian state of Sabah on Borneo to build a 300 MW coal plant, which has come under fierce opposition from locals (already the project has been forced to move locations twice). The newest proposal will build the coal plant, as photos below reveal, on an undeveloped beach overlooking the Coral Triangle, one of the world's most biodiverse marine environments, with transmission lines likely running through nearby pristine rainforest that are home to several endangered species, including orangutans and Bornean rhinos.

A group of NGOs that oppose the coal plant, known as Green SURF (Sabah Unite to Re-power the Future), warn that the plant will come with a host of environmental problems, including discharges of chlorine and sulfates into the ocean, sulfur dioxide emissions that could cause acid rain, thermal pollution, and the need for new transmission lines, infrastructure, and cargo to carry coal from mines south in Kalimantan. Green SURF has recently conducted an energy audit that showed Sabah has the capacity to develop cost-competitive power needs from a variety of other non-fossil fuel options, including palm oil biomass, solar, and hydrological.

Here's the real Doomsday story...?

Posted: 27 May 2010 06:45 AM PDT

I got this via e-mail-edit. If this engineer is right, this is truly a scary scenario! Here's his story !! "Heard you mention of the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico this morning, and you (and most everyone else except maybe George Noory) are totally missing the boat on how big and bad of a disaster this is.

First fact, the original estimate was about 5,000 gallons of oil a day spilling into the ocean. Now they're saying 200,000 gallons a day. That's over a million gallons of crude oil a week! I'm engineer with 25 y ears of experience. I've worked on some big projects with big machines. Maybe that's why this mess is so clear to me.

First, the BP platform was drilling for what they call deep oil. They go out where the ocean is about 5,000 feet deep and drill another 30,000 feet into the crust of the earth. This it right on the edge of what human technology can do. Well, this time they hit a pocket of oil at such high pressure that it burst all of their safety valves all the way up to the drilling rig and then caused the rig to explode and sink. Take a moment to grasp the import of that. The pressure behind this oil is so high that it destroyed the maximum effort of human science to contain it.

When the rig sank it flipped over and landed on top of the drill hole some 5,000 feet under the ocean. Now they've got a hole in the ocean floor, 5,000 feet down with a wrecked oil drilling rig sitting on top of is spewing 20 0,000 barrels of oil a day into the ocean. Take a moment and consider that, will you!

First they have to get the oil rig off the hole to get at it in order to try to cap it. Do you know the level of effort it will take to move that wrecked oil rig, sitting under 5,000 feet of water? That operation alone would take years and hundreds of millions to accomplish. Then, how do you cap that hole in the muddy ocean floor? There just is no way. No way.

The only piece of human technology that might address this is a nuclear bomb. I'm not kidding. If they put a nuke down there in the right spot it might seal up the hole. Nothing short of that will work. If we can't cap that hole that oil is going to destroy the oceans of the world. It only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?

We're so used to our politicians creating false crises to fo rward their criminal agendas that we aren't recognizing that we're staring straight into possibly the greatest disaster mankind will ever see. Imagine what happens if that oil keeps flowing until it destroys all life in the oceans of this planet. Who knows how big of a reservoir of oil is down there. Not to mention that the oceans are critical to maintaining the proper oxygen level in the atmosphere for human life.

We're humped. Unless God steps in and fixes this. No human can. You can be sure of that!

Idris Jala is the new Goebbels for a Facistic Regime

Posted: 27 May 2010 07:49 AM PDT

He says, "Country will be bankrupt in 9 years" , "We don't want to end up as another Greece," he told a roadshow, referring to the European Union member whose debt woes have unsettled global markets. Idris Jala is the new toad, toadying up to Najis, oops Najib. Cut down on the wastege in mismanagement, 500 million commissions, as in the case of the submarine, which are the infamous "unsinkable submarines", buying sub standard APCs' from Turkey for billions, make some one accountable for the BMF scandal, the billions lost in currency trading by the 'mamak gang', bailouts of sons and cronies. The "mamaks" have made theselves into 'robber barons'.

Idris is a scumbag he did not mention that Greece had an over bloated civil service, corruption, just like in Malaysia, they being not competitive, sounds familar, unfair taxation, always screwing the middle class, practicing apartheid in education, employment, promotions, the list is long. The subsidies must stay, if they don't, UMNO will be gone, come the next election. I want to see the UMNO dicks counting bars for corruption, starting from the 'Great Mamak', until then, dream on if we will allow subsidies to be ripped away from us. Throw those dicks into jail, tell us why Altantuya was killed along with Teoh Beng Hock and Kugan, maybe then and only then, will we accept the cutting down on subsidies. Idris Jala is the new Goebbels for this facist regime. I guess a certain part of Sarawak might become a city in the clouds?

Dey Jala, do you really know what happened to Greece? I tell you what, read this contents from an e-mail from one of my classmates:

I have just watched a documentary regarding Greece's financial and am appalled ! These are the why's and how's that this historic and beautiful came to grieve. Bureaucracy : Greece's bureaucracy is famous in the whole of Europe ! To open a cafe or pub there are 25 processes to go through !! This is a country of rules and regulations.

Bloated civil service : There are 1.05 milliion civil servants (excluding police and armed forces) . The population of Greece is only 10 million !! More than 10% are govt servants !! Salary increases every year and benefit for civil servants in Greece is one of the best in Europe !! More and more money is needed to upkeep this bloated civil servants . The retirement age is 62 yrs old.

Corruption: Greece is the most corrupted nation in the Eurozone. Citizens pay "under table " money to:
#admit into a public hospital
# pass a driving licence
# to enter public service
# renovate your business premises or your home
# avoid income tax

Every govt project is awarded to political cronies and at hugely inflated prices ! Transparency International compared the prices of the construction costs of stadiums built for the Athens Olympics recently with similar structures in China --500% more expensive than the Chinese , compared to Los Angeles and Sydney -- 50 % more expensive !!! All these with tax payers money ! and borrowings !!!

Tax evasion : Officially 80% of its citizens are supposed to pay tax but only 37% are doing so. Big businessmen and corporations have refined tax evasion to a fine art ( or have the tax men taken some coffee money ? ) No transparency in governance: The politicians and bureaucrats falsified economic data and painted a rosy and manageable picture while the economy was rotting away .

Unabated borrowings: Meanwhile, the politicians and bureaucrats continue to issue govt bonds to keep afloat, series after series. They were trying to cover up the financial mess they have created creating one big hole to cover up the previous !!

Lacking political will power to reform: To keep hold on to political power, politicians are prepared to lie, commit economic and political fraud. If reforms were taken some five years ago , the country need not go bankrupt and its citizens need not suffer so much. Political expediency and greed to political power over-rides everything and hence Greece is now a bankrupt country. Luckily, it is part of the European Union and its currency is EUROs, otherwise Greeks will have to eat grass to survive !!

Laid back attitude: Tourism is THE ONLY industry in Greece and over the years the Greeks have had an easy time. Many flocked to see the historical sites. enjoy summer vacation on the islands. But they forgot that not many tourists will returned after visiting the sites --there are so many other tourists attractions in the world, maybe more exotic and perhaps cheaper !! So once tourism vanes and couple with higher costs of living --the Greeks could not and refused to adapt and transform --still partying and having a nice time -- maybe the Greek Gods will bless them !!! Greece have no natural resources, no electronics industry , no R & D --no anything !! They were so laid back --cannot see what is coming and crashing down on them. Even now, the civil servants refused to take a pay cut -- the world owes them a living !!

Poignant Conclusion: The producer of the documentary had hired a taxi driver to go around while doing this documentary. The taxi driver had studied economics for 4 years in US and this was his parting words: " My biggest mistake was returning 15 years ago, I should have stayed back in US. My nationalist instinct made me returned. The politicians screwed me. I loved my country but my country did not love me !!!!

Friends, I can see a lot of similarity in Malaysia . I need not go into boring details, it is there for all to realise. Unless we transform politically and economically, sadly this day will surely come . It is not IF, but WHEN !! 1MALAYSIA. MALAYSIA BOLEH !!! Cheers

I hope it is not too much for you to read. The fourth article goes like this:

P.212 Sibu By-Election - Part 16

Posted: 27 May 2010 04:51 AM PDT

This is the third article for you to read with an open mind!

Polis Dingatkan Jangan Main Politik Dalam Kes Aminulrasyid

Posted: 27 May 2010 04:44 AM PDT

-SK

The Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM) under the recommendation of Dr. Kenji Kuno of the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia and Japan International Cooperation Agency invited me to speak on Independent Living for Disabled Persons (Kursus Kehidupan Berdikari bagi OKU – Sesi 1/2010) on Tuesday. The ISM conducts training for civil servants and social workers on matters related to social development.

The main office block and seminar rooms were located atop a hillock just at KM6 of the Lebuhraya Kuala Lumpur – Seremban. It commands a panaromic view of Bandar Tasik Selatan and the surrounding areas. About 20 social welfare officers and social workers participated in the four hour course spread over two sessions. The first session was Pengenalan Kepada Kehidupan Berdikari (Introduction to Independent Living) and the second on History of Independent Living.

The practice of Independent Living was new to most of the participants as they were unaware that severely disabled persons too can live independently if given the right support and opportunities. After the sessions ended, I could feel that they got a pretty good grasp of what Independent Living is all about, especially how it is practiced in other countries such as the USA, Sweden and Japan, among others. And I need to brush up on my Bahasa Malaysia. There were more than a couple of times when I could not find the correct words to use and had to be "rescued" by the participants.

Causes of Hatred in the Russian Blogosphere

By Alexey Sidorenko

Lj-user blondycandy received [RUS] more than 400 comments on the question "Why there's so much hatred in the Russian blogosphere"? Evgeny Gorny summarized [RUS] the most often suggestions: general 'offline' unhappiness, inferiority complex, impunity, lack of education, envy, specific 'Russian mentality' and so on.

How to regain the people's support?

P.212 Sibu By-Election - Part 14

Posted: 27 May 2010 04:07 AM PDT

It was a hot, hot, hot by-election!

On the run-up to the balloting when the campaigning was tense, our Federal government gave out a sum of RM1.75 million as grants to four Methodist churches. This swirled up heated comments over the propriety in accepting.

Malaysiakini in the past two days carried some Mandarin articles on the subject. I reproduce herebelow the first one for your reading pleasure. If you are Mandarin-literate, keep your mind open and have a good time to read over.

Kumar. We Don't Take Such Money Writer: Goh Keat Peng译者:何雪卿注:受惠的四所卫理公会是:En Tao Methodist Church, RM500,000Tien Tao Methodist Church, RM500,000Sing Ang Tong Methodist Church RM400,000Hwai Ang Tong Methodist Church RM350
