The Lost Continent

Posted: 04 Jun 2010 09:37 AM PDT

Jadi saya mencuba Bryson. Selepas The Lost Continent: Travels in Small Town America dan buku ini, saya rasa, terima kasih sahajalah.

Berbalik kepada The Lost Continent, catatan kembara Bryson merentasi Amerika Syarikat.

Posted: 05 Jun 2010 10:01 AM PDT

Turut berucap ialah Pengerusi GMJ, Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, Setiausaha JIM, Nahar Mohd Noor, wakil Jemaah Muafakat Muslim Perak, Zulkifli Ibrahim, Pengerusi Shura, Ustaz Abdul Ghani Samsudin, Setiausaha Agung Abim, Rahimi Abdul Rahim dan wakil Dewan Pemuda Masjid, Mohd Takiyuddin Abdullah.

Mohd Azmi sewaktu menjawab pertanyaan media berhubung sikap membisu pemimpin Umno berhubung kelulusan lesen judi bola sepak itu berkata: "Itu kena tanya Umno".

Menderma RM525 juta 'is nothing' to Vincent Tan, seolah macam dia bagi RM 5.25sen kepada pemandunya.

Betoi kata Najib 1Malaysia,"I garu belakang you, you garu belakang I"..........

Baca di sini.

cheers.

KOMPLEKS PAS IMPIAN KITA

Posted: 06 Jun 2010 06:09 AM PDT

23 Jamadil Akhir 1431 H | 6 Jun 2010

Mohd Rashidi Hasan

30 Jun lepas tercipta suatu lembaran sejarah baru buat Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) apabila majlis pecah tanah Kompleks PAS di Paya Indah Wetlands, Dengkil dirasmikan Mursyidul Am, Tuan Guru Dato' Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Sejurus sebelum Pilihan Raya Umum 2008, PAS membuat satu anjakan baru.

Nyaris maut motosikal terbakar

Harian Metro 5 Jun 2010

DUNGUN: Seorang remaja lelaki nyaris maut apabila motosikal jenis Yamaha RXZ miliknya hangus terbakar ketika sedang mengisi petrol di sebuah stesen minyak di Jalan Paka, di sini, kelmarin.

Bagaimanapun, mangsa, Wan Hazwan Wan Fauzi, 18, hanya mengalami lecur di kaki selepas sempat melarikan diri daripada motosikalnya sebaik terlihat percikan api ketika mengisi petrol dalam keadaan enjin tidak dimatikan, kira-kira am 6 petang.

"Ketika pembantu pam mengisi minyak, tiba-tiba keluar percikan api.

Siapakah Agen Yahudi Yang Sebenar?

Rakyat Tolak Sikap Hipokrit Umno-BN Bersekongkol Dengan Pro Zionis Apco

No discount in police fines for traffic offences

Posted: 06 Jun 2010 09:00 AM PDT

Apparently, the 'no-discount' order came from the government!

Anyone out there who kena fine and your appeal was not entertained?

KUALA LUMPUR (May 13, 2010): Traffic offenders will no longer be given discounts on police summons fines beginning from Monday.
According to an internal directive issued to all traffic police divisions today, traffic offenders will have to pay the compound fines according to the computer generated summonses and appeals for discounts or waivers will no longer be entertained.
Although federal traffic police when contacted declined to comment on the internal circular, sources said the order came from the government after a series of discussions with police.
Traffic summons compound vary according to the seriousness of offences and range between RM30 and RM300 -- the maximum amount according to traffic laws.
"As from Monday, if you get summoned for speeding then you will have to pay the maximum of RM300 and not RM200 as in the past after appealing for a discount," said a senior traffic police officer who declined to be named.
"If you obstruct traffic, then the fine would be RM100 and that will no longer be lowered to RM70 as in the past" he said.
Federal traffic police chief SAC II Datuk Abdul Aziz Yusof was not reachable for comment.
Last month, a bill to increase the RM300 fine to RM1,000 was withdrawn in Parliament after various quarters opined that the proposal would burden the people especially those from the lower income bracket. -- theSun

Technology a passion killer, says Fifa president

Posted: 06 Jun 2010 07:58 AM PDT

June 06, 2010
PRETORIA, June 6 — Using technology in soccer will only serve to damage the passion and emotion felt for the sport, Fifa president Sepp Blatter said today.
Soccer's world governing body continues to resist using technology to aid decisions on controversial incidents during matches, including helping referee's to judge whether a ball has crossed the goal line.
Blatter (picture) said the sport should keep its human element, allowing everyone to have their say.
"When you are in a football match there is no social level, everybody is the same and everybody in the stadium and at their television is an expert," he said at a media briefing with South African President Jacob Zuma ahead of the start of the World Cup on Friday.
"Everybody is an expert and that is why we are not going into technology on the field of play, because if you have technology on the field of play, then there are no more experts."
Soccer's rule-making body, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), in March voted against using technology to decide if the ball crosses the goal line in cases where it does not touch the net.
Blatter believed science would destroy the passion that made the sport special.
"Then the science is coming in the game, no discussions ... we don't want that. We want to have these emotions, and then a little bit more than emotions, passion."
South Africa hosts the world's most watched sporting event from June 11-July 11. — Reuters

A RESOUNDING WELCOME AWAITS MALAYSIAN VOLUNTEERS

Posted: 06 Jun 2010 07:46 AM PDT

Since Monday 31st May incident of the Israeli commando raid on MV Mavi Mamara that was part of a 6 vessels Gaza bound flotilla carrying humanitarian aid for the Palestinians entrapped in Gaza, the local mainstream media, both electronic and print, has been abuzz reporting almost minute by minute, the development surrounding the incident that have left 9 dead and 60 injured.

On board the MV Mavi Mamara were 12 Malaysian volunteers who represented various NGOs, besides a number of other international volunteers. There were also 6 other Malaysian volunteers on board MV Racheal Corrie that was seized by Israel, and all have since been released. The government had also dispatched the Foreign Minister to Jordan to ensure the safety of all Malaysian volunteers, this despite having an Ambassador in that Kingdom.

What caught my attention is the reaction of some Malaysians (politicians included) that I term as overzealous, relegating local thriving issues to the back burner. The nation is now hotly debating serious economic and social drawbacks that are likely to impact the well being of the Malaysian population in the new future, but this issue somehow does not appeal to the mainstream media. Even the unsettling 'prediction' by Senator Idris Jala recently that this country will go bankrupt in less than a decade from today, is not well received by some from within the government itself. His prediction they say is off tangent to reality.

And setting aside the massive financial debacle by some large corporation like the PKFZ and more recently Sime Darby, the government finds it expedient to shove up the issue of the Israeli raiding incident as a prominent national issue that overrides the economic and social woes that Malaysian will be expecting. Even UMNO Youth leader Khairy who had completed a month stint with the army territorial is ready to fight to save Palestine from the marauding Israeli commandos. I just wonder if the one month army stint was enough for Khairy to shoot straight with his rifle.

I had just read that the returning Malaysian volunteers will be received by DPM Muhyidin Yassin at KLIA, and I am sure he will be accompanied by a motorcade of ministers, deputy ministers and senior government officials, besides the car load of UMNO supporters (Puteri UMNO likely to be included) with welcoming banners to add colour to the fiesta. And the welcoming party does not end there. The volunteers will then be driven to meet the PM presumably for a cup of tea, but hopefully not to the garlanded and be officially accorded national heroes.

In my 34 years in the army, I am yet to see any returning component of the military that had successfully served with distinction on UN Peacekeeping missions all over the world, returning home to be received with such exuberance, pomp and splendor on a scale accorded to the returning Malaysian volunteers. When I returned from UN Peacekeeping mission in Cambodia on July 4th 1993, after 15 months duty, my returning troops was received by the 7th Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Abdullah Ghani only.

We were not at all disappointed. At least we had a Brigade Commander who cared.

George Town Festival

Posted: 06 Jun 2010 07:37 AM PDT

Even though there's still no official word from the Penang government on the holiday status of Penang Heritage Day on 7 July 2010, I see that plans are at least in place to celebrate George Town's status as a UNESCO world cultural heritage city.

It's been disclosed today that the second anniversary of our city attaining this status will see various activities during the whole month of July.

Dubbed as the George Town Festival 2010, there will be more than 30 programmes to promote arts and heritage in the state by the Penang government, Penang Island Municipal Council, George Town World Heritage Incorporated and Penang Global Tourism.

The George Town Festival will include theatre, music, dance, film, arts, food, fashion, photography, talks and visual spectacle, all taking place within the heritage core zone.

In particular, the streets of the city will come alive on 7 July 2010 with a heritage trishaw treasure hunt in the morning, day-long free entrance to normally restricted heritage buildings like the City Hall and the Town Hall, a guided heritage shophouse trail in the morning, and a street cultural celebration in the late afternoon.

Lulus Lesen Judi Bola Sepak, Umno buat 2 kali kerja haram - Nyahkan judi!

Posted: 05 Jun 2010 09:41 PM PDT

Ia kian mencemaskan Perdana Menteri.

kiannya,
kerana para petani sedang bersidang
cangkul siapa, sabit siapa perlu berpeluh
akhirnya yang terjelir haus
adalah jari jari mereka
menuding sesama

lapangan ini terus kontang
makinnya,
kerana para pesawah sedang bertingkah
lembu siapa, kerbau mana perlu bersiang
hujungnya yang tersenyum kelat
adalah kami yang mengemis
pada jiran tetangga

tuhan,
tanah ini mendepang dada meminta
turunkanlah hujan rasional
segera banjiri akal tingkah tikai mereka
semoga haus pena si penulis sejarah
yang mencantas dahan hakikat
hamba dan paria itu
adalah anak anak kita

BERSIH II : Bebaskan Pilihanraya Dari Cengkaman Kerajaan UMNO BN

Posted: 05 Jun 2010 10:47 PM PDT
