pulau betong fishermen livelihood threatened

pulau betong fishermen livelihood threatened

my fellow citizen journalist (CJ) team-mate, jimmy leow had made two videos before about the plight of the fishermen in pulau betong.  it seemed that their livelihood had been threatened when  commercial trawlers encroached into their fishing grounds within the 5 nautical miles radius.

on sunday, when janet steele, who monitor our ICCJ works was here, jimmy had invited her to go to the fishing village to talk to the fishermen personally. since i was free, i decided to tag along. another CJ, b.s. lim drove janet and me there where we met up with jimmy.
you know, i had been staying in penang all my life and yet i have never been to pulau betong before, so this was my first time setting foot on pulau betong.   when we first arrived, we went to the coffee shop and had a chit chat first… with tan ah kee, the chairman of the pulau betong inshore fishermen association and two other fishermen, lim ah kee and chew moy kong. (see their pictures below)

(see their pictures below)

they told us about their problems (see the star report  and jimmy's video). i'm not going to write more about their problems here in this blog as i might write in details their problems later on. right now, i'm just going to write on my personal experience and view.

anyway the gist of it was that when the commercial trawlers encroached into their space, the trawlers naturally catch all the fishes and left only a few or none at all for the inshore fishermen and this affect their livelihood. we were told this happened as long as 40 years ago and yes they did made police report (over 10 reports!) but yet the authorities did nothing. well they did at some stage… but then the trawlers after staying away a while, came back again.

tan and chew then took the 4 of us to the jetty area. while janet, jimmy, lim followed close behing chew, i was waking and talking with tan. tan then explained to me about the different fishing nets. wow. i didn't realise there are so many different kind of nets – that are used for different catch. even fishes alone, different nets for different kind of fish. there are '1 layer' nets (used for prawns), '2 layers' net and '3 layers' net. tan was kind enough to let me go down to the boats to personally touch and feel the nets. he showed me how the net is said to be '3 layered'.

this is where all the boats are lined up, reading to go out to the sea. the fishing nets are also inside some of the boats and this was where i got down to the boats to have a close view of the nets.

later on, i got into talking with lim, where i asked him further about the trawlers that encroached into their space.  also asked him something about the village. he said there are about 70 chinese fishermen and about 50 malay fishermen. they  sell their catch directly to some villagers and to 6 households, who will in turn sell them to retailers.

here is a picture where you can see, from a far, some kind of security 'lighthouse'  (for want of not knowing what to call it. haha). where lim told me that will light up during the night.

here is a close up pic of the 'lighthouse'. wow! my new camera do have a good zoom feature. it was quite far away and i managed to get a close up picture, though i did not use the full zoom yet.

i have more pictures on my facebook. here is the 2nd video taken by jimmy leow.  jimmy became an investigative video journalist! he set out with tan, into the sea to spy for trawlers.  unfortunately they didn't manage to catch any that day.

Ulasan GB

Pakatan berpecah, gagal ketepikan politik sempit ?

Posted: 04 Jun 2010 06:56 PM PDT

Kutuk Israel, Sindir Kerajaan!

Ahli Parlimen, Tumpat, Kamaruddin Jaafar ikut sama mengambil peluang membahas usul berkenaan.

[wm.kl. 7:20 pm 07/060/10]

Chua Soi Lek 'caught' again

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 05:14 AM PDT

Karn neen nare lay.

Read this from The Malaysian Insider's
MCA MP questions appointment of Chua junior as deputy minister.

If what Gelang Patah MP Tan Ah Eng said is true, then Chua Soi Lek has not been kosher for saying 'twas the PM who picked his son from a couple of names to be deputy minister, and the corollary? … nepotism!

The cat was let out of the bag when the aggrieved Ah Eng, also Wanita MCA deputy chairman, asked PM Najib why she wasn't appointed. Good olde Najib told her that he appointed MCA people according to a list of names given to him by Chua. Najib was effectively telling her that her name was not there, contrary to what Chua had claimed.

Not a good start for the new president of MCA. He's 'naughty' wakakaka in more than one way ;-)

IS PM NAJIB LICENCED TO LIE AS HE LIKES?

The following report by Bernama, our 'trusted' national news agency:
KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) is set to acquire the 70 per cent majority stake in Malaysia's first legalised sports betting operation, Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd, for RM525.0 million in cash.

The company has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, a major shareholder of BCorp for the 56.0 million shares in Ascot Sports.

Tan owned 70 per cent of Ascot with the balance held by his son, Datuk Robin Tan Yeong Ching, BCorp said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia Wednesday.

To underscore the value of Ascot Sports, Tan has agreed to guarantee that the company will make cumulative profit after tax of at least RM375.0 million for the first three years of operations.

To back this profit guarantee, Tan has offered to deposit RM81.25 million worth of listed securities and Berjaya Corp will withhold RM125.0 million cash from the total consideratiom of RM525.0 million, which will be released annually upon achievement of profits proportionate to the guarantee.

Hence, the initial consideration will be RM400.0 million.

BCorp is also proposing to undertake a renounceable rights issue up to RM614,455,933 nominal value of Irredeemable Convertible Unsecured Loan Stocks (ICULS) on the basis of one RM1.00 nominal value of ICULS for every eight BCorp shares held on an entitlement date to be determined later.

The proposed rights issue is to part finance the proposed acquisition and/or for working capital requirements and bank borrowings.

A portion of the funds raised will be used to pay the initial consideration of RM400.0 million with the remaining to be deployed for working capital of the group.

Tan has undertaken to subscribe to his and his private companies' entitlements in full which would amount to at least RM400.0 million and Tan will not net in any cash as he will reinvest the entire initial consideration to be received to honour his rights issue obligations.

Ascot Sports has a paid-up share capital of RM80.0 million comprising shares of RM1.00 each and based on the sale price, the price per share is RM9.375.

Ascot has been re-issued the sports betting license by the Finance Ministry which was first issued in 1987.

Ascot Sports has the first-right-of-refusal in the event the government decides to allow sports betting which it has now in view of the rampant illegal book making activities being conducted.

A MOST UNUSUAL EXPERIENCE

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 06:00 AM PDT

Dear readers, I am sorry I did not put up any socio-political posts for the past few days. I had to go to KL with my family to give my older moral support as he and his band mates were competing in a talent contest. I had pre-scheduled my posts for the last few days which is why there are no posts on current issues. I reached Penang at 5.45pm this evening and have just finished the laundry, unpacking and other chores. Ambitious me thought I could blog by the time I reached home but alas, it is a case where the heart is willing but the brain is not functioning due to fatigue! I will resume normal blogging by tomorrow. Thank you for your patience with me.

We drove to KL on Saturday morning in my son's tiny car. For the whole week, I had been worrying if it would take us 8 hours to reach KL and worried if we would reach at all :-). Thank God the journey took us five and a half hours driving at a speed of 80-95kph with one thirty minute rest stop at Tapah. Only about 30rm worth of petrol was used so I would definitely advocate slow and safe driving and the use of small cars although we had lots of problems with luggage space as I had to bring stuff for my boy.

This was a most unusual holiday for us. In terms of shopping, we only went to IKEA where I bought party plates and cutlery for kids, bag clips, kitchen containers and three books from MPH at the Curve.

Upon arrival at my friend's home, my son and their kids played for hours in the garden doing the most bizarre activities. They were collecting frogs' eggs and also observing the many fishes in their wonderful pond which was a fantastic classroom to study the balance in the ecosystem. I was quite surprised to see that my younger boy knew about the territorial habits of lobsters and other forms of marine life as he gave his first 'inaugural' lecture to the other young man who gave his own lecture thereafter. So sweet! Later, they were busy studying the various plants and vegetables being grown in the garden and soon after that, were busy with the dogs!!! Following that, I had a wonderful time playing five stones with the older sister. Of course, yours truly won :-). I had years of practice during my primary school days!

In the evening, Ahoo, a regular commenter and his family came to pick us up and we had a lovely dinner at Madam Kwan's at Bangsar Village. Thank you so much Ahoo for your hospitality, friendship, generosity and also wonderful fellowship. It turned out that we had a considerable number of mutual friends - indeed it is a small world. Thank you also for the lovely dessert that you gave us.

By the time we reached home, my son and the other kids spent another two hours - this time catching TOADS!!! I believe they caught about 15-20 toads - all of whom were put in a medium-sized aquarium for a major 'relocation' program at a nearby river the next morning. I gulped many times when I saw my friend's son picking up a toad most nonchalantly and telling me, "Here auntie, I caught another one."

The sweetheart is really so adorable that I wanted to bring him back to Penang with me haha...When he pointed out the toads swimming in the pond, I said I could not see any and he promptly replied quite innocently. "I can see clearly. My eyes are good so I don't need glasses!!" We all burst out laughing. Oh - the sweet innocence of kids!

My younger boy was initially quite wary about catching the toads with the fish net. With the first successful 'haul', both of us screamed so loudly that I am sure the toad must have had a terrible shock. I ran off and eventually my boy got the hang of it. It was kind of difficult trying to catch each toad without netting the guppies as well.

Needless to say, all the kids went to bed pretty late - for the first time in their lives. Friendship knows no age barriers! That night, we had problems going to sleep because of the cacophony of choral croaking of the toads. Much later, they noise turned into a strange lullaby that lulled us to sleep :-).

The next morning, we woke up later than usual as we were quite tired. We gave church a miss and headed to a nearby river after breakfast. My host family brought along the container of toads the kids had collected the night before and he released them at the river bank. The toads all fell out with a thud. No sound or movement. Suddenly, one leapt away as if to say. "Hey guys - follow me. I recognize this place..." and the rest of them leapt after him happily and the kids waved farewell to the toads and clapped at the successful relocation program.

When we arrived at IKEA, there were many pieces of furniture which I wanted to buy - especially book cabinets and CD racks :-) but of course, I only daydreamed and enjoyed walking in and out of my castles in the air. We had lunch at Winter Warmers and then headed home where I attended to blog comments.

Soon, we rushed back to the Curve again, this time to meet Edward, another regular blog reader and commenter from late 2008 (if I remember correctly). He treated my family to high tea at Bintang Royale Hotel and we had a lovely fellowship exchanging notes about parenting and our kids. Thank you very much Edward for the book that you gave Nick and the TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD dvd which I had been wanting to get for years! At last I can watch it and discuss it with Julian Real.

My family then rushed to the venue for the competition and saw my boy and his team rehearsing and doing their sound check. We were one hour early and were quite horrified that most of the tables had been reserved. Fortunately, I managed to get three seats for my family thanks to J.C., the mom of my son's bandmate.

I was particularly touched by my host and her family who came all the way to the Curve again to give my boy the moral support and votes. It was pretty tough for the two kids to be up till so late but apart from the loud music of one rock band, I believe the kids had a great time.

I was also very touched that Ahoo and his family whom I had just got to know the night before also turned up to give their moral support despite having to wake up at 6 in the morning to get ready for the first church service. I appreciate your supportive gesture, Ahoo, and the way you and your family stayed till my boy and his group finished their last set! Thanks also to a couple of other friends and my former student N who turned up to give their support.

I must make special mention of J.C. who did an amazing job with the fan paraphernalia. The work and effort she and her family put in to produce the posters, banners, horns, whistles, glow-in-the-dark gloves, castanet fans with the photos of the band members on it were simply amazing and the crowd that turned up to cheer for my boy and his bandmates were absolutely awesome and most supportive.

Sadly, they missed the first prize and won second prize. The sound balance of their first set was out and my son could not be heard and the brass instruments were too loud. They were brilliant in the second set with their medley of 60's and 70's top hits including Hawaii-Five-O, Let's Twist Again, Smoke on the Water etc. Unfortunately, they succumbed to nerves in the third set when they belted out Gloria Estefan's "Conga" and the rest is history.

On our way home after the competition, we lost our way as my hubby had keyed in the wrong data in the GPS and we ended up in Sungei Buluh. I was frantic as the petrol tank was virtually empty. After we went round in circles following two GPS - the other one was my handphone's inefficient system which could only say "Please slow down" in voice navigation, I finally spotted three policemen on motor cycles. Yours truly honked at them excitedly and they came to our assistance and gave us instructions after which we reached my friend's home by 2.45am!!!

Despite being in KL for two and a half days, we only spent about 1.5 hrs with my older boy *sob sob* as he had been busy rehearsing. I always hate saying goodbye to my older boy. This time I was particularly sad. It was the first time we had seen his new place and I did not have time to clean up his room for him ...sighs. My heart broke when I saw his spartan lifestyle. He has one wardrobe, one bed, a foldable table and one chair - not even a table-lamp. Sighs. How I wish we could have had more time time there. We only had brunch together and then 15 minutes in his room after which the cab arrived to fetch us to the Plus Liner office. We left his car and our hearts with him and made our way home with a weary heart.

Eventually, if my boy decides to settle down in KL, I will be there more often to be with him. Life is so short and kids really grow up so quickly. The most precious thing in life apart from our health is our family. I just called my boy and cried on the phone and of course, by now, he is used to mom's drama. I wish I could turn the clock back and have him home with me but I cannot. He has grown his wings and has left the nest but he is always in my heart. As for my younger boy, he is also growing up too quickly. I wish I could just capture all the moments I spend with him on video and playback and view during my leisure but it would not be possible. As such, I have to depend on my memory bank...

This has been a most unusual holiday. Thanks to my girlfriend and her warm and gentle husband and fantastic kids for having us at their place. We felt so at home and Nick misses the kids so much. Indeed, it was a wonderful learning experience for Nicholas to be in close touch with the environment. I had a brief reminder at what it was like when my boys were young and how I have learnt from my mistakes to become a better mom and person.

I am glad to be alive and to have my family...I am sure you feel the same way about yours...Take care and may you and yours be blessed each day of your lives! I will resume normal blogging after the 6am post tomorrow. Thanks for visiting even though I did not put up sopo posts. Your readership and presence mean a lot to me...Do keep in touch! Have a wonderful evening.

konon boikot coca cola tetapi regim benar buka kilang coca-cola

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 06:22 AM PDT

Left: Paint ball bruises

Lifeline4Gaza mission head Noorazman Mohd Samsuddin said three fellow-Malaysian activists, Abdul Halim Mohd Redzuan, Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus and Jamuliddin Elias, were shot at with rubber bullets which hit their heads and bodies.

A student displays wounds caused by a rubber bullet used by Police in Caracas

So they were shot in their heads and bodies by rubber bullets and yet they are walking? Rubber bullets are dangerous. Our "three heros" should not be walking or holding a press conference. They should probably fighting for their lives to stay alive in some intensive care unit.

I think these "heroes" were shot by paint ball guns. Look at the image of paint ball bruises. The Israelis were carrying paint ball guns as can be seen in this video clip. That was the primary "scare weapon", which did not work. Their backup were Glock Pistols , with real live ammunition strapped to their thighs, worked quite well though, when the Israelis were thoroughly worked over by the "Peace Activists"

Insignia of the Shayetet 13

Israeli Commandos are highly trained in close quarter battle. Commando Krav Maga (CKM) is considered by many experts to be the most evolved and effective Israeli hand-to-hand combat system in the world. Our heros, those 'magnificient 3' met head on with the "Shayetet 13" On May 31, 2010, this same unit took part in operation Sea Breeze against a flotilla trying to break the blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza; resulting in the death of 9 pro-Palestinian activists, which our "heroes" confronted.

The heroes said "We managed to capture three of the soldiers and upon searching them, found the list with pictures of those who they had wanted to kill". Yep they "captured" the elite Israeli Commandos. They found a hit list. There are 700 so called "Peace Activists" on the ship and the Israelis wanted to carry out a hit on selected targets in the dark! These guys can surely be attached to our "Special Warfare Training Centre" in Sungei Udang, to train our commandos. Our commandos can learn a thing or two from them. Better still send them on attachment to Hamas or Fatah as instructors, maybe they can turn the tide for the Palis.

They became heroes because they were not allowed to take a crap for 12 hours, they were not fed and isolated for 24 hours, weapons were pointed at their heads and of course their hands were tied. Can you imagine they survived all these horrifying ordeals with battle fright and returned to tell their tale. These are true 'Heros' by any standards.

I saw this particular comment by a Inspektor Klueso in Malaysiakini, I was captivated by it. It was a well said comment might not be pleasing for some. Here you are : Said hero activist forgot to mention he and his feller activists used the ancient arts of silat, combined with orang minyak tactics to disarm the 3 hapless Israelis, who just happened to carry state of art weapons and among the best trained elite special forces in the world. Must be cum laude graduates of the Master Race University programme of Patholigical Lying. Come to think of it, I aso laughed till I farted, and it ain't the fried onions I had for dinner.

UMNO - Israel : Depan Lain Belakang Lain

Bayaran RM77 Juta Kepada Apco Lebih Baik Diberi Kepada Rakyat Gaza

Pakatan berpecah, gagal ketepikan politik sempit ?

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 05:16 AM PDT

Millionaire Ban

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 03:30 AM PDT

I've always dreamed of being a millionaire and have been wishing for a sack full or two of money dropping from the sky right in front of me. But the thing is my wife doesn't want me to be a millionaire! Really, she doesn't! She's afraid that if I become a millionaire, I would drag her shopping non-stop to the point of exhausting her silly! LOL! And that is exactly what I've been doing the past couple of weeks to her.

No, no, I haven't had a sackful of money drop from the sky or anything but I've been dragging her shopping from one mall to another non-stop and she's been complaining that she's tired of going shopping non-stop! LOL!

For the past couple of weeks, I've had this sudden craze come over me where I'll come home, pick her up, go to one mall and do some shopping, then head home, rest for a few minutes and drag her again to another mall and then another mall and it has been going on like that for quite a while.

Sometimes, I'll just be sitting and reading or watching TV when suddenly I'll think of something I need to buy and I'll grab her and say,

'Let's go out, I need to get something ...'

which will lead to me dragging that poor girl along from one mall to another and another and another! By the time we get home, she'll be complaining that she's exhausted from following me shopping all day. It's come to a point where just two days ago she turned to me and said,

'Honey, I don't ever want you to become a millionaire cos I don't think I'd survive following you shopping all day!'

Good gosh, what am I going to do with all my money when I do become a millionaire if I can't go shopping! LOL! Yes, yes, I know I'm probably the only guy in this side of town who actually enjoys going shopping. It's something which perplexes even wifey cos she keeps telling me that she's never known a guy who loves shopping as much as I do!

But what can I do? I simply love going shopping and I love it even more when I can drag wifey along shopping with me ... hahaha! In fact, she's upstairs now resting her tired little feet from another one of my crazy shopping sessions.

I think if I ever became a millionaire she'd probably ask me to donate all my money away so I wouldn't be able to shop all day ... hahaha ... that is if I ever become a millionaire la!

35 years after the fall of Saigon, poignant pictures

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 03:42 AM PDT

All these pictures were from Lt Col Idris Hasan

The child with blond hair is the daughter of the women on extreme right ( Family of American servicemen)

The Fall of Saigon remembered in the words of the Colonel

I remember it was April 30 th 1975 when Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese and the dramatic photos of the last American troops been flown out of their Embassy dangling under the last choppers to the awaiting 11th Fleet. It was about a week later that the very first exodus of Vietnamese refugees began arriving at our shores.

These photos were taken by me as the first refugees landed with their boats behind the officers quarters at Seberang Takir Camp where my Battalion the 12 Inf Bn (AW) was stationed. Later they also landed in Pulau Perhentian Besar and Pulau Bidong

As I look at the photos of the little children and think they must all be in the early forties by now and wonder where and what they are to day !!! Again looking at the photos we must think how fortunate we are to be away from the ravages of war, death and destruction .

I know thousands of refugees were lost at sea, and thousands others were robbed, raped and killed by the Thai pirates and fishermen. Women and children as young as 9years old were savagely and brutally raped. This was for me the most the most heart rendering sight to witness the blank and dazed looks of innocence destroyed as they landed ashore. What you see here were the early lucky ones. Those after them were not so lucky.

Thank God we live in a blessed land and have been spared from such ordeal. Continued here for more pics....

ETHICS IN EVERYDAY LIVING

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 03:00 AM PDT

Here's something that my friend Freddie sent to me a few days ago. Have a good laugh and think of how it may actually happen in Bolehland. No offence to any Catholic. This was posted for the same of humor. Take care and enjoy the weekend!

Painting the Church
There was a Scottish painter named Smokey Macgregor who was very interested in making a penny where he could, so he often thinned down his paint to make it go a wee bit further.

As it happened, he got away with this for some time, but eventually a Catholic Church decided to do a big restoration job on the outside of one of their biggest buildings.

Smokey put in a bid, and, because his price was so low, he got the job.

So he set about erecting the scaffolding and setting up the planks, and buying the paint and, yes, I am sorry to say, thinning it down with turpentine..

Well, Smokey was up on the scaffolding, painting away, the job nearly completed, when suddenly there was a horrendous clap of thunder, the sky opened, and the rain poured down washing the thinned paint from all over the church and knocking Smokey clear off the scaffold to land on the lawn among the gravestones, surrounded by telltale puddles of the thinned and useless paint.

Smokey was no fool. He knew this was a judgment from the Almighty,
so he got down on his knees and cried:

"Oh, God, Oh God, forgive me; what should I do?"

And from the thunder, a mighty voice spoke.."Repaint! Repaint! And thin no more!"

REMEMBERING THE LATE BRIG GEN ‘JIMMY’ YUSOF ABU BAKAR

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 02:26 AM PDT

Someone has asked me why I have not changed the header of my blogweb. My straight answer to him is because I am an avid admirer of the person in the picture, and the picture reminds me of some fond memories of the man in the picture.

For those who do not know the man in the picture, he is Brig Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof Abu Bakar, the first Commander of HQ 6th Brigade based in Sg. Patani, Kedah. This picture was taken by Maj Gen Dato Paduka 'Speedy' Ghazali Ibrahim who was then G3 Operations of HQ 6th Brigade. I believe the picture was taken in 1970 during a Hari Raya gift distribution to troops operating in the Malaysia-Thai border areas. I cannot recall the unit the soldiers belong to, but I think it was a Police Field Force unit operating in the Kroh-Kelian Intan areas.

If one takes a closer look at the picture, one could see a feature of a lady in the background and that lady is the wife of the Commander, whom we refer to as Kak Comel, a pet name given by the husband himself. I never dared ask Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof how that name evolved, but I suppose it was because Kak Comel must have been a pretty lady during her youth, and she was still pretty and a graceful lady in the 70's. The sad thing about Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof and Kak Comel are that they both are no longer with us, for Allah swt loves them more.

I certainly can write a lot about Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof and for one, he is an example of a Commander who loves all his officers and men. One striking trait of his leadership is that he does not show his temper when something goes wrong however bad, and the only thing that comes from him is the word 'bisa'. And to all of us, we know that something is not right.

There was a time when I had to accompany Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof to his temporary rented bungalow at Harvard Estate, early during his time as the Commander. The HQ has yet to obtain an official approval for a government house for the Commander from the Kedah state government, through the District Office. During one of my duties as an accompanying officer, and having to stay with him is his rented bungalow, and in some private moments, Gen Jimmy Yusof would confide to me about his childhood life in Segamat, Johor, and the hardship he had to endure having to come from a relatively poor family. His father, I was told was just a ticket collector at one of the Cinema's in Segamat.

He even told me that he feared losing Kak Comel during his courtship days because of his poor family background against the much wealthier family of Kak Comel, who hails from Muar, Johor. But fate has it that, that they were to be married happily and bore 5 beautiful daughters…………..just wonder where are they now. To remember Kak Comel by, I still have in my possession of a black kain songket that I bought from her at just the cost of RM50. That was the kain songket I used to wear with my black baju Melayu at official functions during my service days.

Certainly the days with Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof has a profound influence in my life, in the remaining years of my service with the army, and Kak Comel has been a wonderful Kakak to our families. Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof loves 'briyani gam', a Johor delicacy and my wife being from Johor had the pleasant opportunity to cook for Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof, his favourite food during a function at his official quarters.

Recently, I was told that the new army leadership has directed that all officers to go back to basic in their daily professional life as officers, and be more responsible to their men. I fully understand the reason why the COA has come out with such a directive, and I think such a directive could steer army back to its original form, purpose and priorities. Maybe in some postings later, I wish to share my thoughts on my understanding of the term 'back to basics' with samplings of my experiences with Gen 'Jimmy' Yusof
