Pakatan Rakyat Perlu Ada Akhbar Sendiri

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 02:15 AM PDT

ON THE WAY

Posted: 14 Jul 2010 10:58 PM PDT

Orang kita memang gagal bab tepati masa. Semua rasa macam rock star. Semua rasa macam menteri. Semua mahu orang tunggu dia. Macam sial. Kita juga la yang terhegeh-hegeh cari dia.

Gua angkat henpon dan terus dial nombor dia dan tanya, "Hoi! Dah 30 minit lewat ni. Lu kat mana?"
Mangkuk tu jawab, "Gua on the way ni. Dah dekat nak sampai ni."

Nak tipu tu patut-patut la.

"Bangkai, lu jangan nak kelentong! Gua call nombor rumah lu ni."
"Alamak! Kantoi!"

“give ‘em citizenship… then let ‘em vote for us”

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 10:29 AM PDT

so it looks like this was what was happening when the government gave citizenship to cambodians and indonesians who are PR holders. so claim mahfuz omar from PAS.  however, home minister hishamuddin had denied this  (read below the full article from malaysiakini when he denied it).

from malaysiakini:

Pokok Sena PAS parliamentarian Mahfuz Omar (picture) has accused the BN government of engaging in its own version of 'human trafficking' for political benefit.

He pointed to an operation at Kompleks Integrasi Warisan in Salak Tinggi, Sepang, where he alleged the government launched a campaign to get permanent resident (PR) holders from Cambodia and Indonesia to apply for citizenship.

"My suspicion is that they will fill the electoral roll in the coming general election. As part of their psychological warfare, the government had earlier announced that there are large numbers of Malaysians who have not registered as voters, including about two million Malays.

"It is these Malay-sounding names that will be used to fill the electoral roll. This may be a repeat of what happened in Sabah previously, the infamous Project M, where illegal immigrants were issued identity cards to vote. This involved Yong Teck Lee, I believe, and judge Kamil Awang proved that such things have taken place," pointed out Mahfuz (picture).

mahfuz further said that  on july 3 in zentrum hall in setiawangsa, near datuk keramat in kuala  lumpur, a function was held to present the cambodians and indonesians,  who had their citizenship applications successfully processed with their blue identity cards.

"They never applied until they were asked to pohon for citizenship. One of the things told to them during the briefing at the event was not to forget to support the government."

wow! amazing! 'asked to apply'.  so good eh.  a bribe before a bribe? eh… a threat before a bribe? you know… "you had better apply for a citizenship!" then after applying, quick as a lightning speed, get it  approved, and gave them the citizenship and at the same time saying "i give your citizenship, you must vote for us."

the marvelous way our government works.

you know, it is said that there are over 500,000 registered indonesian workers and another over 500,00 illegal indonesian workers. imagine, if all these were given citizenship so that they could vote. given citizenship by umno, so vote umno. that would be quite disastrous for pakatan (PR) . there will be a huge swing of votes to umno and umno will continue to stay in power. frightening though eh.

Citizenship-for-votes deal in the works, claims Mahfuz

Pokok Sena PAS parliamentarian Mahfuz Omar has accused the BN government of engaging in its own version of 'human trafficking' for political benefit.

This involved Yong Teck Lee, I believe, and judge Kamil Awang proved that such things have taken place," pointed out Mahfuz (left).

He added that he had asked a question in the House today to clarify how many PR holders there were, state by state, indicating his fear that PR holders may be used to load the dice against the opposition in the next general election.

He explained that during the operation that took place between June 15 to 17 at the Komplek Integrasi Warisan, government officials gave briefings to the PR holders and distributed citizenship application forms to them.

Function to present blue identity cards

The Pokok Sena parliamentarian added that on July 3 in Zentrum Hall in Setiawangsa, near Datuk Keramat in Kuala Lumpur, a function was held to present those who had their citizenship applications successfully processed with their blue identity cards.

"These people are from Cambodia and Indonesia. They never applied until they were asked to pohon for citizenship. One of the things told to them during the briefing at the event was not to forget to support the government."

He added that activists from PAS, PKR and DAP went to the venue to take pictures and had lodged a police report on July 10, as they feared that this might be a syndicate selling citizenships to PR holders.

The activists held a press conference about the incident yesterday.

Mahfuz said yesterday, there was a similar programme to campaign for PR holders to apply for citizenship at the compound of the surau in the Taman Melati Indonesian village.

"Is this an illegal syndicate? Does it involve the collusion of officers from government agencies and departments? Or is this an official government programme, since the government officials present all seemed to be legitimate?" asked the PAS leader.

Mahfuz added that he was informed about the alleged government programme by PR holders who were suspicious of the apparent ease with which they were offered citizenship.

"I met them together with YB Kamaruddin Jaafar, but I cannot disclose their identities for their own safety," he said.

Hisham: It's not true

Meanwhile, in an immediate reaction to the media, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein refuted Mahfuz's allegations.

"It's not true. Of course not. If he has factual cases, bring them to me, because the issue of citizenship is not a light matter. Those citizenships that I have processed are outstanding cases, some of them (pending) for 20 or 30 years."

He said that the applications he processed were applications that fulfilled strict conditions, specifically in the context of citizenships which were delayed. He added that it was impossible to hold an event to distribute the ICs because it's not a right but a privilege for those who are eligible.

"So, the accusation that this is happening not only saddens me but perhaps questions the thousands of applications we solved last year. There is no political consideration, not to get new voters because those who got it (citizenship) have been waiting for years, so if there are specific cases, Mahfuz can extend them to me and we can investigate," said the minister.

Rakyat Disuruh Berjimat Tetapi JPM Boroskan RM4 Billion Untuk Tahun 2010

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 09:06 AM PDT

JPM terima RM4 bilion biaya operasi 2010

Sejak bila bekas perdana menteri-perdana menteri memerlukan pejabat?

– Bernama

PM's Dept spent RM4 bil last year. Now sucking our money via price hike!!

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 08:50 AM PDT

Taxpayers forked out RM3.8 billion last year to pay for the salaries of almost 40,000 staff of the Prime Minister's Department and to cover the operating costs of the department and its subordinate agencies.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration has taken a politically risky manoeuvre by raising prices of three types of fossil fuels, sugar and cooking gas.

Inilah erti sebenar 1Malaysia!
Rakyat ditindas dahulu!
Kroni-kroni Umno-BN diutamakan!

Sugar price hike - Najib, you were hoping we're stupid, weren't you?

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 07:41 AM PDT

Prime Minister's excuses for hike in sugar price:

1) the government could not effectively channel the subsidy to the intended needy parties. and you, despite the extra bucks you are expected to fork out, does not fall under needy category.

2) our law enforcers failed to curb smuggling activities, therefore you - the commoner gets punished.

3) sugar is bad for your health. the government is increasing the price of sugar primarily taking into consideration your health and well-being. (the lamest excuse i've ever heard)

Right, he is hoping that everyone is as stupid as his cabinet. Go figure.

SUBSIDY CUTS BEGIN - PRICE HIKE IN 5 ITEMS

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 06:20 AM PDT

In a politically risky move, he Najib administration will begin cutting subsidies tomorrow by raising the prices of petrol, diesel, natural gas and sugar. According to The Malaysian Insider HERE, this is the first stage of subsidy cuts and it is expected to be reviewed every six months. Sources said that subsidies on electricity are also expected to be cut but no decision has been made yet on when that will happen. Horror of all horrors!!! The nightmare has begun!! Can you imagine the implications???

From tomorrow, RON95 will be sold at RM1.85 per litre and diesel will be sold at RM1.75 per litre. Note that subsidies for RON97 have been removed completely and its price will be subject to market forces. Natural gas (LPG) will rise by 10 sen per kilogramme to RM1.85. The price of sugar will also be increased, by 25 sen per kilogramme to RM1.75.

The breakdown of the new prices are:
  1. RON 95 grade petrol - from RM1.80 to RM1.85 per litre
  2. RON 97 grade petrol - no more subsidies (managed float)
  3. Diesel - from RM1.70 to RM1.75 per litre
  4. White refined coarse granulated sugar - from RM1.65 to RM1.90 per kg
  5. Liquified petroluem gas - from RM1.75 to RM1.85 per kg

For cooking gas: (each cylinder)
  1. 10kg - from RM17.50 to RM18.50, RM1 hike
  2. 12kg - from RM21.00 to RM22.20, RM1.20 hike
  3. 14kg - from RM24.50 to RM25.90, RM1.40 hike

Malaysian Insider reported that according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the move to cut subsidies on fuel and sugar would save the government RM750 million a year. The rationale given was that the government wants to balance between maintaining the people's interests and the need to manage the country's deficit.

This move has serious implications on our lives, dear reader. It could be the start of the implementation of economic reforms which could include the eventual introduction of an unpopular Goods and Services Tax (GST) and further market liberalisation. Now can you imagine what might happen after that???

*SHUDDERS*

I am quite disappointed that the official announcement was given this evening, just hours after the adjournment of Parliament, effectively avoiding a major backlash in the Dewan Rakyat.

According to Malaysiakini:

The Najib administration had been working hard on its charm offensive to sell the necessity for subsidy reductions.

However, critics said forcing consumers to tighten their belts without the government undergoing an austerity drive was meaningless.

It must also be noted that this is the second time the federal government had increased sugar prices. On Jan 1, prices were increased by RM0.20 per kg.

At the height of massive public outcry over sharp increase in fuel, water and electricity prices in March 2006, Najib, then deputy premier, infamously urged the public to "change your lifestyle".

In an apparent reference to this, Rembau MP and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said today that he hoped this remark would not be uttered again.

"I pray that no Pak Menteri (senior minister) urge the public to change their lifestyle. Such statements are akin to scoring an own goal with a bicycle kick," said Khairy on his Twitter page late this evening.
In 2008, after the government announced price increases in fuel and electricity tariffs, The Star reported HERE that:

  • Bus and lorry companies announced that they are increasing charges or will be forced to stop services;
  • The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers said its members will pass on any increase in costs to consumers;
  • Hawkers and other food operators will wait and see before raising prices;
  • The KLCI closed 29.56 points down, to 1223.56 points. Plantation and banking counters as well as PLUS were the most affected.
Our pockets are getting lighter, portions of food decreasing, costs of living escalating and we can still see reports such as how the PM's department has an allocation of RM4 billion as reported HERE by Free Malaysia Today. The report also said that the number of its civil servants has doubled from 21,000 in 2003 to 43,000 this year. The minister also stated that the number of its civil servants has doubled from 21,000 in 2003 to 43,000 this year. The report said that the number of civil servants needed for the entire Perak government, when it was run by Pakatan Rakyat, was only slightly more than 7,000.

So one spends a lot and another has to pay for it indirectly...Sighs...Other negative effects of this development will be discussed in other posts.

What are your views, dear reader? Please leave a comment to share your thoughts, concerns and suggestions. Thanks! Have a restful evening.

Rakyat Terus Maki BN. "Celaka BN... Bangkit Isu Pasir Untuk Tutup Kenaikan Harga Barang"

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 05:55 AM PDT

Kerajaan Umno-BN Naikkan Harga Petrol Kaburi Mata Rakyat Dengan Isu Seleweng Pasir Di Selangor

ANYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG, WILL GO WRONG!

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 04:16 AM PDT

Many of us would have heard of Murphy's Law which is an adage or epigram that states that "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." In everyday life, it is used as either a purely sarcastic musing that things always go wrong, or, less frequently, a reflection of the mathematical law that dictates that, given infinite time, all possible occurrences will eventually take place(though, in this case, emphasis is put on all possible bad occurrences).

Murphy's Law ("If anything can go wrong, it will") was born at Edwards Air Force Base in 1949 at North Base. It was named after Capt. Edward A. Murphy, an engineer working on Air Force Project MX981, (a project) designed to see how much sudden deceleration a person can stand in a crash. One day, after finding that a transducer was wired wrong, he cursed the technician responsible and said, "If there is any way to do it wrong, he'll find it." The contractor's project manager kept a list of "laws" and added this one, which he called Murphy's Law.

Actually, what he did was take an old law that had been around for years in a more basic form and give it a name. To read more, please go to THIS LINK.

Did you know that one of Murphy's many laws is "Nothing is as easy as it looks"? How true!!!

So what happened? In retrospect, many rejoiced when the Opposition swept through the 2008 elections, idealistically thinking that things would get better by the day but alas, the opposite is happening as we see nightmare after nightmare playing before our eyes, death after death, debacle after debacle , one frog hops after another ...one by-election is held after another till we all, with arms raised, scream to the heavens and cry, "Dear God, when WILL this nightmare ever end?"

If it makes us feel any better, Murphy's Law is certainly relevant in Malaysia.

We have all caught ourselves mindlessly muttering the term, "He/she deserves it/does not deserve it. It's Murphy Law." In our quest and dream for a better country, anything that can go wrong HAS gone wrong indeed! I am not going to depress us further by listing all the horrible sequence of events that has plagued the nation of late. All it takes is the click of the mouse to different news portals and the headlines scream at us to tell us that the battle is intensifying! We have to move beyond all these broken pieces, shattered dreams.

Indeed, Murphy was right.

Nothing is ever as easy as it looks. It is NOT easy to effect change in a society such as ours.

Increasingly across cyberspace, we can see many cynical statements about the nature of politics and the futility of having such a 2008 victory. Then, we are reminded of Murphy's tenth law, "Mother Nature is a bitch."

Perhaps Murphy intended to stop at his tenth law but it is his eleventh which made me think he finally figured it out:

"It is impossible to make anything foolproof, because fools are so ingenious."

Having such an electoral victory is nothing to scream about. We all should know by now. There's lots to be done in our society in terms of social service, voluntary work, political activism etc.

Today's real problem is society. Our society, to be exact, which is fraught with so many embedded problems, complex issues and negativism.

It seems to me that everyone is frantically looking for someone else, a superman, a superhero perhaps to help them out of their problems. So we gravitate towards people looking for 'salvation' and when we don't find such a person, we rage at the cosmos. That is exactly what is happening as we see the slow but sure disintegration of PKR - one leader after another highlights inherent problems which have been gnawing at the prestige, status and credibility of the party. The rot has to stop and they have to fortify themselves from within and without. Instead of warding off attacks from the other side, it is time they go on a different upbeat mode to rattle the other side with more exposes.

Blog reader Stanley Goh left very good suggestions in his comment to my post on "Where do we go from here?" and he said that "rather than giving it ample space to do its dirty work, keep them occupied by continuously throwing their shit back at them in parliament or via the alternative media. Keep them so busy scrambling to cover their own backsides that they have no time to try to remove their enemies pants. Attack them and continue to sow suspicion about the loyalty of their own animals so that they will always have to try to figure out if there is any enemy in their midst. As long as we keep hitting them with their misdeed, they will have less time to try their monkey tricks. Let us all do it together. We include our brothers/sisters from Sabah and Sarawak in this war.

We all have to acknowledge that no one is perfect, not even political leaders. All of us are weak in some areas in our lives and therefore attract people who have strengths in those same areas. Conversely, we have no patience for people who are weak in areas where we are strong. And some of us have a strong passion and love for our country and it hurts and pains us to see how many leaders are in self-destructive mode or a mode to destroy others!

Yes, there's lots to be done...Fools such as I dream of a great nation, my nation, your nation called Malaysia. Let's all do something small but great today. Rescue or help someone in need. Who knows, we might need someone tomorrow to rescue us from a shortcoming of our own.

Some of us may have seen signs that read "A lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part"? This is another example of the world looking for someone to come to the rescue and how few of us want to be that person. But wait a minute...

Will you be a "rescuer," or will you insist other people follow proper procedures?

The world is SUPPOSED to be a perfect creation. Everything works as it should; stars, galaxies, rivers and mountains. It's you and I who need some work because we live in an imperfect world, one created by imperfect creatures!

Let's do our part to make our country a better place in very tangible and salient ways....and it has to begin with me, with you....

Together, we can!

Hitler: The Untold Story...

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 04:08 AM PDT
