Good Morning Kuantan!

Good Morning Kuantan!

Good Morning Kuantan!

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 06:10 AM PST

Waking up just in time for Subuh, I had to dash to finish my prayers before the heavenly sky greeted Kuantan folks.

I did wake up as early as 3 am this morning but went back to bed about an hour later.
Dozing off at 9 pm last night was so easy with the accompaniment of a mild headache.

So with yesterday's posting, for those who left a comment or two, I have read them and I thank you.
Please excuse me for not publishing them.
Sometimes, I prefer to soak them in private.

Yeah..I am still waiting eagerly for the badly-needed household funds.
I am just the 'housekeeper' and 'accounts clerk'.
Whatever that should be given are for the children's upkeep.

But somehow I sense there's a conspiracy hatched by those 'two' to teach me a lesson not to send over the funds in retaliation to all my very fierce and blunt blog reminders!

Hello..if the bills are not paid, the children will be those suffering the inconvenience.
My my..'they' are walloping me back at my children's expense!

I am sure that he has entrusted her to now make most of his decisions.
She is his closest confidante and what can I expect?
Naturally, decisions that are definitely not to our advantage!

But you know..I will never allow that evil future stepmom to supervise my children.
Let him be the only one under her spell!
As long as I am still around, she better be ready to face my witchy old broomstick!

How one can change so drastically over a new love is shocking!
The priorities can change overnight.
Imagine making the children walk on the crummy, thorny path!

Their future are suddenly catapulted into uncertainty.
Whatever hopes they thought they could depend on from their Baba have come crashing down!

While others whom we know are still generating lots of love and attention from their fathers, my children can rely only a few trickles from him.

It is more convenient for him to just shut his mind off from his children and shove their needs later or totally aside!

If they lack his emotional attention these recent years, he's now slapping them with an extra dosage of monetary hardship.

Coupled with the fact that his new love is so mesmerising and authoritative in his life, he seemed to be showing that he dreads to be burdened with his present set of children.

I am not using the legal approach because we had earlier on, mutually agree that he knows his responsibilities and he too loves his children.

Unfortunately, he is not keeping part of his bargain.
Apart from his once-in-a-while popping in to see them, he has not settled the household bills and has yet to sort out the household rentals.

Whatever small amount that was sent had been budgeted mainly for food and petrol.
He seems to be reserving his funds mostly for his courting expenditures.

Finding solace and happiness in his latest interest, I believe he's taking his sweet revenge by making his children suffer for their mum's outspokenness.

Nevermind then.
I will still keep on hammering some sense into his thick skull!

Meanwhile, I am still thick-skinned enough to get help from wherever possible.
One thing for sure, the Kuantan house is noticeably more peaceful now.

InsyaAllah, I will brave my coward self to steer this precious ship out of the stormy seas, and make it sail happily back on course quickly.
IF they wish to further torture my children and I ,
may Allah swt return back all those bad intentions to them very soon...Ameen.

this time, it was not only the SAMPah but also the malaysian people's welfare organisations (pertubuhan kebajikan al-ehsan malaysia). please click on 'read more' to read about it (from malaysiakini).

NGO takes on Guan Eng over use of 'Islam'

1:39pm

A welfare organisation has lashed out at the Penang government's portfolio for non-Muslim affairs headed by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for using the word 'Islam', claiming its usage is exclusive to Muslims.

The months old Malaysian People's Welfare Organisation's (Pertubuhan Kebajikan Al-Ehsan Malaysia) deputy secretary general Arshad Kassim said yesterday:

"By using the word, Lim can create confusion on the position of Islam as the official religion of the country.

About 15 protestors representing the group handed over a memorandum on the issue to the state government at Komtar today.
Assistants to Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman and state exco in charge of religious affairs Abdul Malik Abul Kassim – Mohd Fitri Ibrahim and Rodziah Khassim – received the document.

Another voice joins din

Members of the Suara Anak-Anak Mamak Pulau Pinang, an Indian Muslim NGO led by its president Abdul Ghani Mohamed Jiman (below), who has been persistently attacking the state government on various issues related to the Malay-Muslim community also joined the group.

In its memorandum, the NGO said it strongly protested and regretted the setting up of the portfolio under Lim and urged the latter to "respect and uphold the federal constitution".

They want Lim to be sensitive to the position of the Muslims and to forget the new portfolio.

"Lim and the DAP cannot use the state government's name to practise abuse of power or go against the federal constitution which only states Islam as the official religion of the federation," they said.

Arshad, who is also the NGO's Northwest chairperson, said that the new portfolio seems to be more powerful thanthe proposed interfaith council which Muslims had been rejected strongly.

Upsetting 'harmony'

"All this while, other faiths have been existing independently and strongly in their various religious organisations without political or government interference," said Arshad.

"The Muslims have not upset the non-Muslims while harmony and goodwill among the races have been always maintained," he added.

Arshad said Lim cannot use the power he has under the state government to 'legalise (halalkan)' buildings which are considered haram; or take over land and its allocation.

He urged Lim not to misuse state agencies, like the Penang Development Corporation, land offices, Penang and Seberang Perai municipal councils and Public Works Department to advance DAP's political agenda.

"Please focus on more important aspects like resolving the problems of the rakyat's 'rice bowl', he said.

Arshad warned Lim that if he refused to concede to their demand, they will present their case to the Agong.

"Is this your country or is this Singapore? He is from Malacca, we do not disturb him at all, but it looks like he should return to Melaka," he told Lim.

Why sound and fury?

Meanwhile, PAS' Parit Buntar assemblyperson Mujahid Yusof Rawa (right) questioned why the NGOs were 'making loud noises' when a similar portfolio had been set up in the Barisan Nasional ruled Perak.

Mujahid said that the Muslims already have a portfolio in Penang under the state Islamic religious council overseen by Abdul Malik, who is PKR's Batu Maung assemblyperson.

Therefore, they (Muslims) do not need to worry about not being represented in the non-Muslim council, he added.

"The new council will improve the relationship among the races, it would act as a bridge, where the races can have dialogues with one another on various issues," he said.

"Any problem pertaining to religious issues can now be resolved within an official framework," he added.

If I Have Learned Anything

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 07:43 AM PST

I turned 50 recently and have been doing a lot of soul searching. It is funny how we never stop learning and are constantly evolving to be better, stronger, wiser, forgetting what lies behind and moving on to grasp what lies ahead.

This evening, I slipped into a reflective mood whilst reading the news and thought about the many precious lessons I learnt in the last five years and how some experiences have completely transformed me to be a different person from what I used to be.

As such, I went through my archives to look for this inspiring post which I am reposting again...You have probably seen it in the email circuit but truly, it is most thought-provoking and I hope that it has some value for you and yours. Take care and treasure the moments we have on this earth. Let's do our best and what we can to make the world a better place. Take care and have a restful evening.

IF I HAVE LEARNED ANYTHING

- Author Unknown-
* I've learned that you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.

* I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.

* I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's important.
It's what they do about it.

* I've learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you a heartache for life.

* I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides.

* I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you miss them terribly after they die.

* I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

* I've learned that it's a lot easier to react than it is to think.

* I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

* I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

* I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

* I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

* I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

* I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done, when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

* I've learned that when the light turns green, you had better look both ways before proceeding.

* I've learned that you can love someone and still not like them very much.

* I've learned that there are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.

* I've learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and still have the best time.

* I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

* I've learned that I'm getting more and more like my mom, and I'm kind of happy about it.

* I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry, I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

* I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.

* I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

* I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

* I've learned that you should never tell a child his dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if he believed it.

* I've learned that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological.

* I've learned that no matter how good a friend someone is, they're going to hurt you every once in awhile and you must forgive them for that.

* I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

* I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.

* I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

* I've learned that sometimes when my friends fight, I'm forced to choose sides even when I don't want to.

* I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.

* I've learned that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions.

* I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

* I've learned that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

* I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

* I've learned that it's not what you have in your life but whom you have in your life that counts.

* I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

* I've learned that a good friend is better than a therapist.

* I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

* I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.

[Bergambar & Video] Larry Dilantik Sebagai Ketua Pembasmi Tikus Di Rumah PM

Inilah Larry, Ketua Bahagian Pembasmi Tikus di Rumah PM Britain

Larry, Kucing baru di kediaman PM Britain di Downing Street 10, London.

London - Downing Street 10, kediaman Perdana Menteri Britain akhirnya mengambil pekerja khusus bernama Larry.

-Telegraph

SPR Silap Sebut? Tiada Cadangan Atau Tiada Arahan?

SPR: Tiada cadangan perkenal syarat baru calon pilihan raya

Ulasan GB

Najib Ketar Jika Ledakan Mesir Tercetus Di Malaysia

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 06:17 AM PST

Mahathir Sekadar Menambah Koleksi Bahan Lawak Tentang Dirinya

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 05:54 AM PST

Mahathir terlupa dirinya Menteri KDN ketika Ops Lalang Oleh Chang Teck Peng

-MR

A date with MACC tomorrow

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 10:57 AM PST

The MACC has summoned me to its Putrajaya HQ tomorrow. Public holiday but I also gave my statement for three long hours at the MCMC in Cyberjaya on Tuesday Feb 15, also a public holiday. It doesnt matter.

I was having dinner in Kuching when an MACC officer rang me up. No excuse, whether its a public holiday or not. I was expecting the call sometimes next week but was told it was an urgent case. I will be there.

Looks like my exposure on YB Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim's special officer last week - that he and his friends get a big chunk of the 1Malaysia netbook distribution contract, Phase 2 - is getting immediate attention from 'detectives' of both sides.

And thanks to my blogger friend Jebat Berkokok for a nice commentary in his latest posting, refuting my allegation and 'accusing' me of trying to tarnish Rais' and the ministry's good name. It is his job. It was just his personal opinion.

I also heard the Info Ministry's arm for new media which is based in PJ was trying to engage a few bloggers to produce rebuttals to my stories.

However as at today, only Jebat Berkokok did it. Why must they resorted to such an approach? A cover up? I think I understand.

As a journalist for almost 30 years, rookies like Jebat Berkokok and others would do anything to keep their job, especially when they are government servants. I believe some of them will lick their boss' shoes if asked to. I dont know what Jebat Berkokok does but i sometimes read his writings.

And being a veteran journo, I wont simply post any 'bull' on my blog without substantial or tangible evidence. I hope Jebat Berkokok understands me.

And to Datuk Rais, I didnt accuse him of anything. It was 'a very unfortunate coincidence' that this NA works for him. In fact, I was quite defensive of him when lead bloggers like Rockybru, Big Dog and others hammered him last year. I was even asked to play an 'arbitrator' role between him and Rais.

Had PM Najib's or other ministers' special officers are involved, I will also do the same thing.

To YB Rais: "Maaplah tok. Tu yo. Kalau ado peluang, kito jumpo."

[Bergambar] PAS Telah Bersiap Sedia Ganti UMNO

-harakahdaily

-mk

KENYATAAN MEDIA BERSAMA PAKATAN RAKYAT – GAJI MINIMA

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 04:27 AM PST

19 Februari 2011

Surgeon U K. Mg Gyi:Mandalayans are not smart like Yangonthars

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 04:15 AM PST

The former Surgical Head of Department of IMM (or MMU) Professor Dr U Khin Maung Gyi remarked once: (Mandalayans, please don't get offended) …

  • You, Mandalay Thars (Mandalayans) do not use to wear trousers or Long Pants.
  • If you wear Long Pants, you do not want to wear shoes.
  • If you wear shoes, you never tie a tie.
  • You, Mandalayans are not smart.
  • But Yangon Thars used to wear smartly.

The former Surgical Head of Department Professor Dr U Khin Maung Gyi was my favourite boss. He likes teaching and his ward rounds will take hours. Other lectures transferred from Rangoon told me his nick name, Maung Thin. ( Actual Maung Thin was a very famous Medical Doctor, actor and novalist. But Thin in Burmese means teach. Because he was famous for his hobby to teach, his friends give him that nick name.)

Incontrast to his good cetanā, I had a bad abomination, given to brain wash during my very fresh first experience as a Demonstrator (now called Assistant Lecturer) in Public Service by the Lecturer B.S. Ko Lay (PhD Anatomy).

Dr Than Win (now Rector of MMU, pic. below) and I arrived early morning at the Anatomy Department Office on that day. Although we never discussed what to wear, both of us were smartly dressed informally in office attire, not in complete suite, long pants, shoes and tie. We were both holding a breif case full with Anatomy books, blank A 4 papers, note book and other paraphernalia for writting.

We greeted B.S. Ko Lay with,"Mingalarbar Saya" but his reply, may be in jest, shockek us and feel guilty. "I thought you two came here to sell grilled peanut mixed with salt, (Myae Pae Sar Hlore). At that time "Aung Kyaw Win Myae Pae Sar Hlore" was famous because the salesmen wore long pants, shoes and hold the fasionable but cheap bags, in Mandalay. And he called the neck ties in crude Burmese, Lae Patt, which could be interpreted as the neck belts for animals.

In the Anatomy Separtment, almost all the staff was wearing longyis and Tike Pone or Duty coat (white over coat). Since that day we abandoned that unofficial attire and if we wear the long pants, never wear shoes. If we wear the shoes we never tie the tie.

Budak 7 Tahun Didera Teman Lelaki Ibunya

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 03:54 AM PST

-SH

Jika Umno Bela Melayu Kenapa Perangi Kelantan

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 02:49 AM PST

Bahrain's revolution more problematic

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 01:43 AM PST

The protests in Bahrain are not the same as in Egypt or Tunisia. Rather than protesting rising prices or freedom, it appears that the Bahrain protests are mostly by the Shiite majority against the ruling Sunnis.

But it is not as if Bahrain is a wasteland of human rights. It actually has one of the best human rights records of any Arab country and it has a diverse population. Bahrain even publicly called for the Jews who fled the country to come back.(It is not thrilled with gays, though.)

In fact, the major Shiite party wants to have more discrimination! From Wikipedia:
Al Wefaq, Bahrain's main Shia Islamist opposition party, has for several years tried to introduce racial segregation, calling for the removal of third world immigrants from predominately Bahraini areas. In 2004, the head of Manama City Council, Al Wefaq's Murthader Bader, called for the introduction of racial segregation in the city with the removal of South Asian nationals to other parts of the country.
So far, this has not morphed into an anti-US protest, but Bahrain is the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, and concern is rising there. The Fifth Fleet helps keep the Gulf safe from disruptions of oil shipments that have been threatened by Al Qaeda - and Iran. Iran is of course supporting the Shiites and denouncing the ruling government. Iran considers Bahrain to be a part of Iran proper and an Iranian takeover of the country to "redeem" it is not out of the question.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is very nervous and there are reports that it has sent its own tanks in to help Bahrain fight the protesters. Saudi Arabia has many Shiites that live in areas of the country where oil is pumped, and a revolution that spreads to the kingdom could be disastrous to the world energy supply. The knee-jerk reaction to support every seemingly popular revolution can have far-reaching consequences. Hat tip:Elder of Ziyon

Zambry Di Perak Lebih Dahulu Wujudkan Portfolio Hal Ehwal Bukan Islam

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 01:30 AM PST

Tindakan Guan Eng wujud portfolio baru dikecam

GEORGETOWN: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Al-Ehsan Islamiah Malaysia membantah tindakan kerajaan Pulau Pinang menubuhkan portfolio baru membabitkan pengurusan hal ehwal agama Buddha, Kristian, Sikh, Taoisme dan Hindu.

-BH

How do you say hypocrisy in "Obbummer" By Paul Marshall

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 01:09 AM PST

A terrible drama is unfolding in Afghanistan: There are reports that Said Musa, whose situation I described at Christmas, will soon be executed for the 'crime' of choosing to become a Christian. (For background, see here.)

Musa was one of about 25 Christians arrested on May 31, 2010, after a May 27 Noorin TV program showed video of a worship service held by indigenous Afghan Christians; he was arrested as he attempted to seek asylum at the German embassy. He converted to Christianity eight years ago, is the father of six young children, had a leg amputated after he stepped on a landmine while serving in the Afghan Army, and now has a prosthetic leg. His oldest child is eight and one is disabled (she cannot speak). He worked for the Red Cross/Red Crescent as an adviser to other amputees.

He was forced to appear before a judge without any legal counsel and without knowledge of the charges against him. "Nobody [wanted to be my] defender before the court. When I said 'I am a Christian man,' he [a potential lawyer] immediately spat on me and abused me and mocked me. . . . I am alone between 400 [people with] terrible values in the jail, like a sheep." He has been beaten, mocked, and subjected to sleep deprivation and sexual abuse while in prison. No Afghan lawyer will defend him and authorities denied him access to a foreign lawyer.

Any and every human being who is imprisoned, abused, or tortured for the free and peaceful expression of their faith deserves our support, but Musa is also a remarkable person and Christian. In a letter smuggled to the West, he says, "The authority and prisoners in jail did many bad behaviour with me about my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. For example, they did sexual things with me, beat me by wood, by hands, by legs, put some things on my head."

He added a thing much more important to him, that they "mocked me 'he's Jesus Christ,' spat on me, nobody let me for sleep night and day. . . . Please, please, for the sake of Lord Jesus Christ help me." (View the full letter here)

He has not, in fact, even appealed to be released, only to be transferred to another prison. He has also stated that he is willing to give his life for his faith. "Please, please you should transfer me from this jail to a jail that supervises the believers. . . . I also agree . . . to sacrifice my life in public [where] I will tell [about my] faith in Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, [so] other believers will take courage and be strong in their faith."

Newspapers in the U.K. and elsewhere in Europe have reported the story, but with, the exception of the Wall Street Journal and, of course, NRO, American outlets have not found it worthy of attention. The Journal reports that "Afghan officials have been unapologetic: 'The sentence for a convert is death and there is no exception,' said Jamal Khan, chief of staff at the Ministry of Justice. 'They must be sentenced to death to serve as a lesson for others.'"

The U.S. government — reportedly including Secretary of State Clinton — and other governments have pushed for his release, but to no avail.

But the president has been silent, even as we fight a war that has among its goals the creation of a government that conforms to international human-rights standards.

An American president certainly needs to guard and shepherd his political capital, and should not speak out about every prisoner. But Musa himself has appealed to "President Brother Obama" to rescue him from his current jail. And when an obscure and aberrant Florida pastor, Terry Jones, threatened to burn a Koran, not only President Obama but much of his cabinet, as well as General Petraeus, weighed in on the matter.

If the actions of a Florida pastor who threatened to destroy a book holy to Muslims deserved public and presidential attention, then the actions of the Afghan government, ostensibly a 'democratic' ally, to destroy something holy to Christians, a human being made in the image of God, also deserve public and presidential attention. Power Puke And Turbo Vomit

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 01:00 AM PST

I stopped cooking when my older boy left home for his tertiary studies for convenience. After reading THIS REPORT, I think I may start cooking again.

Image from Photobucket for illustration only

The report said:

EIGHT food premises in Klang were ordered to close after they failed to meet hygiene standards.

One even had a dead rat in its frying pan.

Sinar Harian reported that the carcass was seen floating in a pan of used cooking oil, discovered in the kitchen of an outlet near Jalan Tengku Kelana.

Health officers also found cockroaches and animal droppings in the eight food premises that were investigated under Operasi Bersepadu Bersih 3 on Thursday.

"A check on the first outlet found that food containers were placed on the floor.

"Many cockroaches were also seen," said Klang Municipal Council Health Department acting deputy director Amran Jali. CLICK HERE for more.
*Gulps*

How can it be that some who are humans are so irresponsible to serve/sell food that even animals will probably NOT eat? Is this how low some have become in their pursuit of profit and materialism? Where are their ethics, values and morals or don't these exist in their vocabulary?

Cleanliness should be part and parcel of any human's life. To live otherwise is a sheer reflection of the pathetic moral condition or the lack of it.

In 2008, the world was in a state of shock when the Chinese milk scandal broke out in the People's Republic of China where milk and infant formula, and other food materials and components, adulterated with melamine.

Wikipedia reports that "by November 2008, China reported an estimated 300,000 victims, with six infants dying from kidney stones and other kidney damage, and a further 860 babies hospitalised. The chemical appeared to have been added to milk to cause it to appear to have a higher protein content. In a separate incident four years before, watered-down milk had resulted in 13 infant deaths from malnutrition."

In another development, THIS SITE reported that:

The Chinese food contamination freak show is back in full swing with new reports out of Singapore indicating that certain Chinese companies are now mass producing and selling fake rice to unwitting villagers. According to a report in the Korean-language Weekly Hong Kong, the manufacturers are blending potatoes, sweet potatoes, and plastic industrial resin to produce the imitation rice.

A report in Very Vietnam states that an official from the Chinese Restaurant Association has announced that eating three bowls of this fake rice is the equivalent of eating an entire plastic bag. Consuming such plastic material is obviously a serious health hazard, and officials are allegedly gearing up to conduct an investigation into the factories accused of producing the phony rice.

All this for the sake of profit? Are the producers and those involved in such disgusting acts human?

I have had a few horrible and unforgettable experiences. Once, I bought 100g of Shantung peanuts and was happily munching them whilst driving when suddenly, there was a weird crunchy sound. The stuff was long, and unlike a peanut. Gingerly, I pulled it out and nearly crashed my car when I saw that it was the well-roasted leg of a cockroach.

I drove back to the shop and showed it to the proprietress who she apologized and gave me another packet of peanuts. I never ate it and stopped patronizing that shop.

Last year, a coffee shop in Penang was closed for two months for allegedly recycling straws! I heard from a girl friend that in Sarawak, a shop had to close down after a customer saw a worker blowing bubbles into a glass of hot tea in an attempt to make it look like teh tarik.

Let's hope that those in the food industry will observe high standards of hygiene in food preparation and remember that their customers are ALSO HUMAN!

In the mean time, please excuse me. I feel a power puke and turbo vomit surging within me.
