When minister is Chinese, no job for Bumi contractors!

When minister is Chinese, no job for Bumi contractors!

When minister is Chinese, no job for Bumi contractors!

This is about 1Malaysia and its administration. A short posting which demands long and solid answers. I want to believe it because it came from a few senior sivil servants. As to whether their allegations can be established, I hope the respective ministers and authorities can give a downright explanation.

1. No Malay contractors were awarded with any jobs by the Tourism Ministry over the last two years. Why? Its minister is a Chinese. This is the worst case, they claimed.

2. Only a few non-Bumiputras managed to get contracts with the Works Ministry. Why? Its minister is a Malay.

3. Only a few 'Melayu' got contracts (small ones) from the Ministry of Human Resource. Why? Its minister is an Indian.

Let's not touch Sabah and Sarawak as the general saying is that, Sabah is for Sabahans while Sarawak is only for Sarawakians. However, contractors from both States are living comfortably in 'Malaya', the Peninsular.

This is serious. But on second thought, I dont see anything wrong with it. Banks and finance companies are more keen in giving out loans to non-Malays. Aahhh... let them.

But I demand some answers for the three cases. The minister in-charge must come up with records and tangible evidence to rebut it. Thank you.

How blessed is this day, when earth and heaven are joined and humankind is reconciled to God!

May the light of Jesus shine continually to drive away all darkness. May Christ, the Morning Star who knows no setting, find his light ever burning in our hearts—he who gives his light to all creation, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

international AIDS candlelight memorial in penang

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 09:48 AM PDT

penangites, have your heard of the community aids penang – CASP in short? the few of you who followed my blog might have heard of it when i blog about attending forums organised by CASP on occasion of world AIDS day.  i like attending their forums because they usually invites people from different religion to talk. they are well supported by the state government during the forums they organised.

internationally, in a year, there is this international AIDS memorial day (IAMD) and the world AIDS day (WAD). of course CASP celebrates both. IAMD is on 15 may and WAD is on 1 dec.

this year, for IAMD, once again, like previous year, CASP will be organising two events – one is the walkathon cum candlelight memorial on 7 may at the penang municipal park (formerly youth park). the second event is a charity dinner at bayview pacific resort on 15 may.

i am appealing to you to support CASP by joining in the candlelight memorial and/or the dinner (RM70 per pax). AIDS should be the concern of everyone. show your solidarity with PLWA (people living with ADIS).

read more about CASP events at komunitikini.

note: picture here shows the candlelight memorial (with formation of the red ribbon) held last year at penang times square.

Problems were highlighted and SOLUTIONS were volunteered, some doable, some scholarly donnish. Solutions for a problem can be plucked from anywhere if the CAUSE of the problem is not identified, scrutinized and dissected

Jangan Perjudikan Keselamatan Rakyat Dengan Loji Lynas

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 09:33 AM PDT

SAM gesa Putrajaya batal terus loji Lynas

-TMI

English, not only as a lingua franca but world’s first truly universal language

Master English or be left behind in global market

I REFER to the report "English essential for core subjects" (Sunday Star, Nov 28).
It is completely incorrect to suggest that Japan, South Korea and Germany have advanced economically and scientifically without English. Scientists in these countries publish their papers in English.
There is a trend among Japanese companies to make English their official in-house language. Japan's biggest online retailer, Rakutan, plans to make English the firm's official language. "No English, no job," the CEO said.
In Beijing, learning English is part of an official drive to transform the Chinese capital into a "world city". A government programme calls for all pre-schools to introduce English courses within five years. Police officers and civil servants would be required to pass English tests.
One could go on but – like it or not – English is becoming the world's first truly universal language. It is the international language for business, the language of the information age, and of science, medicine, sports, diplomacy etc. For this reason, almost all the countries in Asia (and most of the world) are working hard at mastering the English language.
In Malaysia, English is not a compulsory pass subject in SPM. This has an important negative consequence. While the stated objective of the Education Ministry may be that all students acquire competence in English, in effect, the official policy is that English does not matter because students are not given an incentive to learn it.
Of course, many students become competent speakers of English in spite of this, partly because of responsible parents (especially in the urban areas) who realise the importance of English.
But all students should learn the international language and a pass in English should be compulsory. Let us try to make the problem of graduates who are unemployable because of poor English skills a thing of the past.

Saifuddin Abdullah, Baka Baik Terakhir Yang UMNO Ada

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 07:52 AM PDT

popeyes, where’s betty boops?

Yes,  I have fallen in love with a man.
A sailorman.

Despite the age difference, we managed to click. Pretty well I'd say.
We don't really have much similarities to start with.
I am into sports, reading mystery novels and shopping.
He is into toy cars – building to maintaining to car races overseas.
I should say, he really knows his stuffs well.

Then why did we clicked?
I can't find the answer.
Somehow I find him too good to be true.
My heart races everytime we have to part. Why?

He doesn't drink. He doesn't gamble. But he smokes.
But I am not going to stop him from smoking like others do.
Earlier I really had the urge to smoke.
But somehow after meeting him, the feeling is gone.

He doesn't have as much education as others.
He doesn't have a car, nor drives.
But he has a stable career that pays pretty well (IMO)
That's reassuring to hear for now.

I don't know about the future.
But he's willing to do anything for my happiness.
He can say it now. But will he maintain it?
1 year? 10 years? 50 years down the road?

There are many ways to express love or affection to your loved one.
Yours and mine just happen to be different.
Will we really work out?

"Our Land Within" exhibition after lunch at WIP Bangsar: Time - a testimony!

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 05:57 AM PDT

On Sunday, April 10 2011, I had the chance to visit the exhibition "Our Land Within" after lunch at WIP Bangsar.

The exhibition was in conjunction with the launch of the book "Our Land Within - Passages Through Southeast Asian Communities" – a captivating book that explores Southeast Asia's diverse communities, their intricate ties and rich heritage through first person narratives. The book, supported by CIMB Group, is narrated by Liew Suet Fun with photos captured by SC Shekar. For more info, click here to read Press Release / News @ CIMB Group.

Indeed, I was captivated by the photos and their accompanying captions, particularly one entitled 'Time'. It was the photo of 115-year-old Imu Kaya whose face of serenity attracted me. I went close to it and read the caption:

Taylor Swift – Enchanted

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 05:57 AM PDT

There I was again tonight, forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old, tired place lonely place
Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy
Vanished when I saw your face

All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you

Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?", across the room, your silhouette
Starts to make its way to me
The playful conversation starts, counter all your quick remarks
Like passing notes in secrecy

And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder-struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

The lingering question kept me up, 2 a.m., who do you love?
I wonder 'til I'm wide awake
Now I'm pacing back and forth, wishing you were at my door
I'd open up and you would say

It was enchanting to meet you
All I know is I was enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder-struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew

This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonder-struck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

This is me praying that

This was the very first page, not where the storyline ends
My thoughts will echo your name until I see you again
These are the words I held back as I was leaving too soon
I was enchanted to meet you

Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder-struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew

This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonder-struck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you

Najib Bakal Diturunkan Dengan Lebih Dasyat?

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 06:25 AM PDT

Fiasco 1Melayu buktikan Najib 'satu lagi Pak Lah'

SHAH ALAM, 23 April (Bernama) -- Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar, who was admitted to hospital yesterday, is in good condition but needs a good rest as he is suffering from fatigue, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar.

"He has gone through all the necessary checks yesterday, nothing is wrong with him except that he is exhausted...he's tired," he told reporters after launching "A Day With Police" programme which involved 1,000 Indian youths at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters, here Saturday.

"Actually there was no need for Ismail to be warded at all, I was the one who told the doctor to make the boss stay there so that he (Ismail) could rest," he said.

Khalid said that Ismail also had given him a lot of instructions as his mobile phone already received a lot of text messages from his superior.

Ismail was admitted to the Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur yesterday after he was reported to be feeling unwell while attending the monthly assembly of the police force at the Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman.

Asked when he was expected to be discharged, Khalid said: "I think today."

Chernobyl-Bhopal-Gebeng

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 10:08 PM PDT

Kerajaan Malaya kini adalah the who cried wolf, tidak lagi dipercayai.

No more “hiding behind bushes” for speed traps

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 04:08 AM PDT

Source: MInsider:Deputy IGP: No more "hiding behind bushes" for speed traps

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 — Traffic police will not be "hiding behind bushes" any more to trap speeding motorists, newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said today. He said that in a bid to be more transparent, motorists will be warned about speed traps.

"We should not be hiding behind bushes. We should come out in the open and enforce the law," he told reporters at a community function called "A Day with the Police".

Since September 2009, police have issued summons to over 2.5 million motorists, mainly through speed traps and speed cameras mounted along major highways and city streets.

The police and the Road Transport Department have the power to blacklist motorists three months after summonses are issued under the Road Transport Act, which will allow the authorities to either suspend their driving licence or refuse road tax renewal for their vehicles.

But blacklisting of car owners was deferred until the end of February and then extended until March 10 as the police offered discounts to those who settled their summonses.

About 10 million such summonses have reportedly been issued since 2000.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha had said the amendments to the Road Transport Act (RTA) effective February 1, enables the authorities to use snapshots from the speed camera system, which is known as the Automated Enforcement System (AES), as court evidence to punish motorists for traffic offences.

It is reported that outstanding summonses have reached a total of RM2 billion from the year 2000 to 2008.

ISA Terhadap OKU: Bukti Polis Tidak Ada Integriti & Tidak Profesyenal

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 04:24 AM PDT

"Mereka tuduh saya hendak bom Suruhanjaya Pilihan raya, Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah, polis, sistem maklumat mereka...

Kes Sarbani: Laporan Polis Tidak Lengkap, Keluarga Tunggu Respons Peguam Negara

Posted: 23 Apr 2011 03:14 AM PDT

" kata Ghazali kepada The Malaysian Insider.

Ahmad Sarbani dikatakan "mati kemalangan". Tergantung. Kemalangan disebabkan apa? Tanpa sebab?

Apakah kerana tergelincir? Terjun sendiri? Ditolak? Dicampak? Sekarang NIL.

From Steadyku47 blog

Former PKR deputy president Dr Chandra Muzaffar lashed out against critics who targeted the men behind a sex video allegedly featuring opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with a prostitute.
Joining the fray on the sex video scandal, Chandra said it was the wrongdoer and not those who exposed the wrongdoing that should be targeted.??The former PKR deputy president said he was disappointed with some quarters whose focus had gone astray.

"It is not the individuals who expose the wrongdoing who should be our target, but the wrongdoer himself and his wrongdoing," said Chandra, who was once a staunch Anwar ally, told the New Sunday Times yesterday.
Using an analogy of corruption as an example, Chandra said people should condemn the person who committed the act rather than those who exposed the act.??"Why should we be so obsessed with those who wash dirty linen in public when actually we should be chastising those who dirty the linen in the first instance?" ??Chandra, who is now a social activist and an academician, also gave his support for the establishment of a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to determine the identity of the man in the video despite objections from Anwar's family and supporters.

There is nothing like a women scorned but even a women scorned is no match for a Chandra Muzaffar scorned ………Chandra says ?"It is not the individuals who expose the wrongdoing who should be our target, but the wrongdoer himself and his wrongdoing," May I remind Chandra of the following:

We all know what happened to Lim Guan Eng when he courageously sent the message to Rahim Thambi Chik, Mahathir, UMNO and the Barisan Government that the then Chief Minister's of Melaka did not do the right thing when he raped an underage Malay Schoolgirl by going to her defense! Instead of punishing the wrongdoer did not Guan Eng then became the target?

When Tun Salleh Abbas defended the autonomy of the judiciary did not the Mahathir government dismissed him? Was not Tun Salleh Abbas exposing the wrongdoing of a Barisan government gone mad? Was it not the individual who exposed the wrong doing who then became the target? Or does Chandra think Tun Salleh's message of Judiciary independence is of no consequence to the future of our country?

Between Lim Guan Eng, Tun Salleh Abbas and the Malaysia that we now live in, our streets are littered with the corpses and wasted bodies of so many messengers who have tried to tell UMNO and the Barisan Government what wrong doing they have done! These individuals trying to expose wrong doings were humiliated, drag in and out of courts, consigned to a life of physical and mental sufferings and some even put to death.

Why do you not defend these individuals that tried to expose these wrong doings Chandra? Instead why do you choose to defend these three stooges ? Surely you have not sunk so low in your pursuit of trying to be relevant to UMNO's and your own agenda? What is your motive in coming to the defense of these three stooges. Pray tell me.
