[Bergambar & Video] Kuala Terengganu Selepas Dilanda Ribut Taufan

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 09:55 AM PDT

Kuala Terengganu – Hampir 150 buah rumah di 13 buah kampung dalam kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Teluk Pasu, Manir, mengalami kerosakan akibat dilanda ribut malam tadi.

Gambar: SEBUAH kereta Perodua Kelisa di timpa sebatang pokok di Pantai Batu Buruk akibat dilanda ribut kuat. Foto: Aswadi Alias (19/06/2011)

– Bernama

A Very Busy Day Indeed

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 08:46 AM PDT

It has been a very busy day for me and I have not had much time to read the news or to update my blog or to respond to comments. My deepest apologies to readers and subscribers.

Firstly, my younger boy had his ABRSM Grade 8 piano practical exam this afternoon. I stayed away from him and tried my best not to pressure or to nag at him and tried to hide my nervousness.

We prayed along the way to the exam centre at Hotel Royale and found a parking lot easily at Penang Plaza. As always, we were early and by the time we arrived, my boy was like a cat on a hot tin roof.

Believe me - it has always been extremely stressful for me to wait outside the exam hall. For those of you are more recent readers,, I used to teach music part-time and have to confess that it was not easy for me to teach music as patience is definitely NOT one of my virtues where teaching music is concerned. It is much easier to lecturer than to be a music teacher!

I listened to him play the scales and his pieces and then the sight reading and aural tests. I did not hear anything wrong apart from a few slips here and then. When my boy came out of the exam room with his hands raised in the air and a broad smile on his face, I thought all was alright.

"Rejoicing?" I asked.

"Freedom, mom!" was his quiet response.

"I thought you played quite well," I said encouragingly.

"Were you listening carefully, mom?" he asked. "I played one bar in a higher octave for the second piece because I was just too nervous. But I played very well in the third piece and reasonably well in the first piece so let's hope for the best."

My heart sank but I told him that he tried his best, that was enough for me. With that, we left for home while he said he will work hard for his Grade 8 violin exam in August. By next month, my 12.5 year old son will start preparing for the Diploma in Music. Last  Saturday, his band won the Inter-School Penang State Battle of the Band Competition. He is certainly walking in his brother's footsteps.

My older boy is the violinist in Juanophobia and the band is in round three of the Passport to Fame Battle of the Bands Contest and you can hear their first recorded single TAKE THE WORLD (a group effort in this original composition) AT THIS LINK.

Juanophobia performing in Round 2 of Battle of the Bands in Johore Baru last Friday.

Angela is also out in Penang so I was with her from 5pm till past 10pm reconnecting and spending time with her daughter and sister as well.

Will post this first and then do another post later. Take care and have a lovely evening.

WIKILEAKS : Malaysia Sedang Menghampiri Bankrupsi.

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 01:19 AM PDT

(5. (C) Azhar told us that Malaysian O&G reserves are not large and are running out soon. (Note: Conoco Philips Malaysia confirmed that without new discoveries, Malaysian oil production will decline at approximately 10% per year, from 550,000 bpd in 2008 to roughly 490,000 bpd in 2009 and 450,000 bpd in 2010.) )

( Azhar noted that revenues from Petronas accounted for 45% of the GOM budget last year and stated that the GOM is over-reliant on Petronas to fund its operations.)

Wajiblah kerajaan Barisan Nasional ditukar.

Nasihat Tulang Besi kepada rakyat Malaysia. Jangan berhutang. Selesaikan semua hutang tidak kira hutang apa. Kalau ditakdirkan Malaysia bangkrap, maka BLR semua akan naik. Percayalah.

SUBJECT: MALAYSIA: ISA UPDATE - PETRONAS MOVING AWAY FROM IRAN INVESTMENT

REF: 09 STATE 121808

Classified By: Econ Counselor Matt Matthews for reasons 1.4(b) and (d)

1. (C) Summary: Post approached the three Malaysian companies listed in Ref A that are reportedly doing business or contemplating doing business in Iran. Petronas told us January 11 that it has no active investments in Iran, no commitment has been made to invest in South Pars Phase 11 and its contractual obligations in the Munir block are complete, with no further investment under consideration.
Petronas officials noted that Petronas is concerned about investing in Iran due to current political uncertainties there. Amona told us via telephone they sold their oil and gas (O&G) business, including any interest in the redevelopment of the Resalat Oilfield.
Post has made contact with representatives from SKS Ventures, which will be reported septel. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Principal Assistant Secretary and America Desk Officer Muhammad Radzi Jamaludin (Radzi) told post that the Ministry of International Trade and Investment (MITI) held a meeting with Petronas, Amona, and SKS Ventures and told them to cooperate with embassy inquiries on Iran investments. End Summary.
2. (C) Comment: Our meeting with Petronas was at a surprisingly high level and the information offered was unusually frank and forthcoming for such a sensitive topic. As a Petronas Board member, Azhar is well positioned to provide accurate information on Petronas' Iran investment plans. Post will continue to press for additional details on Petronas South Pars Phase 11 activity. End Comment.
Petronas
3. (C) Deputy Econcouns Salin and econoff Williams met January 11 with Petronas Board of Directors Member and Corporate Secretary Mohd Azhar Osman Khairuddin (Azhar) and his assistant, Head of Legal Research, Planning and Issues Management, Abdul Rahim Mydin (Rahim) to query Petronas about existing and planned investments in Iran,s oil and gas sector (O&G) and awareness of the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA). Deputy Econcouns delivered ref A points and provided additional background on our information request.
4. (C) Azhar said that Petronas does not have any investments in Iran at this time. Azhar explained that Petronas aspires to be a global company and desires a positive relationship with the USG. However, he related that Petronas was a relatively late entrant to the O&G business and was not competitive with international oil companies (IOCs) in most development areas.
Petronas made the conscious decision in the mid 1990,s, with the blessing of the GOM, to compete in countries where Western sanctions precluded the largest IOCs from competing such as Iran, Sudan, Myanmar, and Mauritania, according to Azhar. He claimed that in 1996 the Petronas president met with Clinton Administration officials informing the USG of Petronas, plans to invest in Iran and that Secretary Albright gave Total, Gazprom, and Petronas ISA exemptions on South Pars Phases 2 and 3.
Azhar said that Petronas developed the Siri field without an exemption and that both of Petronas, prior Iran projects are now finished. He mentioned that Petronas does have an ongoing trading relationship with Iran, exporting lubricants to Iran.
5. (C) Azhar told us that Malaysian O&G reserves are not large and are running out soon. (Note: Conoco Philips Malaysia confirmed that without new discoveries, Malaysian oil production will decline at approximately 10% per year, from 550,000 bpd in 2008 to roughly 490,000 bpd in 2009 and 450,000 bpd in 2010.)
Azhar noted that revenues from Petronas accounted for 45% of the GOM budget last year and stated that the GOM is over-reliant on Petronas to fund its operations. He said Petronas feels tremendous pressure to grow its business in order to maintain Malaysia's political status quo and added that Petronas wants to stay insulated from politics, but must comply with GOM policy.
He acknowledged the large amount of liquid assets on Petronas, balance sheet and Petronas, concerns that those funds be invested in productive O&G assets to promote future profitability rather than be spent now on domestic programs for political gain. He described Petronas as a stabilizing force in Malaysia and in ASEAN regionally and his desire that the USG recognize the important role Petronas plays in maintaining political stability in the region.
6. (C) Azhar was not aware of press accounts of Petronas investment plans in the South Pars Phase 11 gas field and was noticeably irritated that Petronas gas subsidiary Carigali had not mentioned Phase 11 when it briefed Azhar on its Iran activities. He was quite clear, from his position as a member of the Petronas Board of Directors, that no final investment decision had been made on any new project in Iran.
Azhar added that Petronas is closely following the political situation in Iran between President Ahmadinejad and the opposition and stated that Petronas is very concerned about investing in Iran at this point due to political uncertainties and the possibility of "disruptive changes."
7. (C) (Note: In a follow-up telephone call January 14, Rahim told econoff that investment in South Pars Phase 11 is still under consideration, but that Petronas has not committed to the investment. Econoff asked follow-up questions on the status, timing, and cost of due diligence, contract status with Iran/CNPC, and when a final decision could be reached. Rahim asked econoff to forward the follow-up questions via email and that he would try to respond. End Note.)
8. (C) Azhar was excited about Petronas successful bid with Shell to develop the Majnoon oilfield in Iraq. He praised the open and transparent competitive bidding process and said that Iraq's opening is putting a lot of pressure on Iran. Petronas is bullish on the political situation in Iraq and plans to compete for additional business in Iraq, according to Azhar.
Amona Claims O&G Business Sold
9. (C) Econoff and LES Tang Loon Lian contacted Amona December 9 via telephone regarding its announced investment in the Resalat Oilfield. An Amona representative told us Amona had sold its entire oil and gas business to Oil Corp., a publicly traded Malaysian company.
Local news databases did not report announcement of a sale. A search of Bursa Malaysia publicly listed companies showed that Oil Corp. is losing significant amounts of money and appears near bankruptcy.
Post will continue to check for additional details on the status of Malaysian participation in the Resalat transaction.
MFA and Trade Ministry Authorize Cooperation
10. (C) During a January 12 meeting, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Principal Assistant Secretary and America Desk Officer Muhammad Radzi Jamaludin (Radzi) told econoff that he had recently attended a MITI-led meeting, in which MITI called in Petronas, SKS Ventures and Amona and told them to cooperate with the embassy in our ISA inquiry.
Radzi said that Petronas told MITI it does not have any investment in Iran now and that the private companies (SKS and Amona) claimed they had no financing sources for their projects in Iran.
Radzi also described how Malaysian firms go to Iran with suitcases of money to purchase oil and gas concessions from the Iranians. He said that they bring too much cash to count the money, so they weigh it to determine if the amount is correct.
Radzi did not offer why Malaysian firms would purchase an O&G concession from the Iranians for a project they are unable to finance.

The Geography of Bliss + Why Read?

THE GEOGRAPHY OF BLISS (ERIC WEINER)

Ketika memilih buku ini, saya bukanlah kekurangan bliss atau happiness dalam hidup, seperti subtajuk buku tersebut yang berbunyi: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World.

Terima kasih Wan. Sangat menghargainya.

Bersih must march on undaunted....

Posted: 19 Jun 2011 10:11 PM PDT

A peaceful rally calling for electoral reform would have gone down as almost a non-event in any democracy, but not in Malaysia. Here, the news of such an impending rally has virtually caused the incumbent ruling power to go into a state of panic.

Ever since the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections - a civil society movement known as Bersih - called for a peaceful rally on July 9 to press for electoral reform, hardly a day goes by without some bigwigs pressing the panic button, as if calamities will befall the nation if such a rally were to take place.

The home minister has warned of dire consequences to political and economic stability, Umno's ultra-racist wing Perkasa has called for a rally of its own to crush the Bersih rally, the police chief has warned Bersih of preventive arrest, and hundreds of reports have been lodged with the police by Umno and its associated bodies to oppose such a rally.

And now, the latest, Deputy Prime Minister Muyhiddin Yassin called the Bersih rally an opposition plot to topple the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government when he officially opened a local Umno annual meeting in Beaufort, Sabah on June 18.

(Bersih had earlier extended invitation to all political parties including ruling BN and opposition alliance Pakatan Rakyat, as well as NGOs and activists to participate in this mass movement to restore integrity to the Malaysian electoral system, which has been hopelessly corrupted to favour the incumbent ruling coalition. While Pakatan component parties have accepted the invitation, BN has not.)

BN'S rationale absurd

Muhyiddin debunked Bersih's agitation for reform by citing the opposition's impressive electoral gain in the 2008 general election as proof of the electoral system's fairness.

He asked: "If it is not free and fair, how could they make such electoral gains? If they win they keep quiet, and if they lose, they claim unfairness. I think their motive is to have a shortcut to Putrajaya."

Equating the opposition's electoral win as proof of the system's fairness has become BN's standard answer to fence off rising condemnation of BN's massive abuses that have gone from bad to worse.

But such an argument is as illogical as it is laughable. Whether an election is fair should be determined by the conditions under which the election is conducted, factors such as the presence or absence of an impartial election commission and the existence or non-existence of a level playing field. It should never be determined by whether a contestant has won or lost.

Malaysian elections are so notoriously unlevel that one should have no hesitation to conclude that Pakatan would have been swept to power in the 2008 election if there had been a free and fair election, considering the fact that the popular vote was virtually split at 50-50.

Electoral system hopelessly flawed

How can anyone consider Malaysian elections fair, when the election commission is unabashedly acting as ruling coalition BN's virtual agent, and the entire mass media of the country (with the exception of the Internet) serve as BN's propaganda machines to the complete exclusion of Pakatan?

Since the 2008 election, BN's election bribery has gone from covert to overt, famously dramatised by none other than Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak himself when he publicly attempted to buy votes by offering instant cash aid to the tune of millions of ringgit subject to a BN win in two successive by-elections (Hulu Selangor and Sibu).

Strangely, or rather shockingly, while the video clip of this drama had been watched by a worldwide audience via YouTube, the presiding judge (Azahar Mohamed) threw out a subsequent election petition to nullify the Hulu Selangor by-election result on the ground of "lack of evidence".

When even the court sanctioned such open bribery committed by the top leader of the ruling coalition, the floodgate for all kinds of corruption, intimation and abuse of authority was virtually thrown wide open to work in BN's overwhelming advantage. And this is exactly what happened in the recently concluded Sarawak state election, where BN swept to a landslide victory on the twin strategy of bribery and intimidation.

Bersih's move commendable

Under these circumstances, Bersih ought to be commended for its gallant and timely move to call for a mass rally whereby a petition will be delivered to the Agong to put a stop to the election system that has been turned into a complete mockery of democracy.

Among Bersih's reform proposals are: prohibition of vote-buying of any form, restoration of independence and impartiality to enforcing bodies on election offences, fair media access to all contesting parties, reform of the current dubious postal voting system and cleanse the electoral roll that is fraught with irregularities and phantom voters.

It will be seen from these proposals that the current Bersih move is not only not a threat to national interests, but a most reasonable and logical proposition to save democracy and restore justice and decency to a country where the state institutions have been pervasively perverted by BN's prolonged autocratic misrule.

With regard to the police's avowed refusal to grant a permit to the rally, we have to respectfully advice the police that they have no authority to obstruct such a peaceful rally. Freedom of assembly is a constitutional right guaranteed to all citizens, and the role of the police in such an event is to ensure that peace prevails throughout the rally.

Any attempt by the police or any quarter to disrupt a peaceful rally of such noble intentions will be construed as a serious breach of the constitution and will not be taken kindly by peace-loving Malaysians.

Be assured that Malaysians will not back down or compromise on such important principles as the right to have free and fair elections and the right to have freedom of assembly.- Kim Quek

Felda Hutang RM6 Billion: Jawab Segera

Posted: 19 Jun 2011 11:15 PM PDT

Hutang RM6 bilion: Anak masih tunggu penjelasan Felda

-FMT

Ulasan GB

GB sudah ulas sebelum ini di SINI. Petikan:

Bermain FB berdekah dekah keseorangan
Berhibur sakan bersama rakan
Sejenak sahaja lama bukan
Tetapi kenyangnya nyamuk aku di makan.

Aku di beli semangkuk wantan mee
Steamed chicken rice ada pesanan Banun
Berkemban makan siapa perduli
Tekak haus rootbeer float aku balun.

Teringat siang tadi aku dicaci

Biar aku dimaki hamun
Asalkan yang baru tidak tersinggung.

Apalah nak di kecewa lagi
Aku menangis ditemani Illahi
Kini Tuhan sudah buat aku berani
Mulut yang tajam tidak aku takuti lagi.

Tidak lagi aku pemalu maupun penakut
VIP ke berpangkat pun aku tidak menciput
Terus terang akan aku berpedang
Tidak menyorok melangkah ke medan perang.

Berbekal yang ada kurang rupa
Aku senyum tabah harungi luka
Jangan mencabar jangan menghina
InsyaAllah segala doa2ku di Kaabah makbul juga.

Semua Bersemangat Tunggu Tarikh 9 Julai

Semua dijemput sertai himpunan aman Bersih 2.0

Hadirin turut teruja dengan kehadiran sasterawan negara, Datuk A. Samad Said yang sempat mendeklamasikan "ekor" salah satu sajaknya.

Why let Singapore spit on us?

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 06:48 AM PDT

This is a picture of Singapore's latest unmanned aerial aircraft, which enjoys a free-and-easy intrusion of Malaysia's airspace, especially in Johor. And this is confirmed by a Mindef senior official.

In other countries, notably the US and Europe, such intrusion would be dealt with accordingly; either the plane will be shot down or a protest note will be sent to its country of origin.

However, we let Singapore spit on our head by allowing their military aircraft to penetrate deep inside our airspace. What kind of actions have we taken? Try let one of our aircraft to stray a few kilometers inside their territory, and I bet it will be shot down of driven out.

I used to write about this in a local English daily some years ago, and Mindef and our Foreign Ministers did send a note of protest to the Republic but it didnt really stop them from carrying out espionage mission on us.

At the Dewan Rakyat today, Defense Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there have been 2,508 violations of Malaysian air space by Singapore military jets since 2008. What Malaysia did was lodging diplomatic protests against the violations.

But they keep on coming.

Ahmad Zahid said that every suspicious movement of a Singapore military aircraft was monitored with the equipment of the Malaysian armed forces and Civil Aviation Department. "This year alone, up to May, 19 aircraft movements (violations) were detected on an average of four a month," he said in a written answer to a question from Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau).

He said there were 985 violations of Malaysian air space by Singapore jets in 2008, 1,286 in 2009, and 218 in 2010.

Please remember that their soldiers are being trained by the Israelis. Our previous regime, apart from selling sands to the Republic (if I am not mistaken), had also allowed them to use our airspace for their military trainings.

So, are we going through diplomatic channel again? One or two could be a coincidence but a few thousands are deliberate attempt to undermine our security!

"Kenyataan Ibrahim Ali Sangat Bahaya" - KJ Mahu Ibrahim Ali Disiasat

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 06:48 AM PDT

katanya semasa melancarkan Gerak Aman semalam.

-TMI

Tiada Alasan Untuk Tidak Siasat Ibrahim Ali

-tvsnews

IKEA Attacks in Europe 06/16/2011

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 04:38 AM PDT

A string of attacks on European IKEA stores have left company officials and police baffled. The latest scare occurred in the German city Kiel on Wednesday, just five days after the minor explosion of an incendiary device at one of the Swedish retailer's stores in Dresden. For most IKEA shoppers, the largest concern is whether they will be able to assemble their new sleeper-couch once they get it home. Recently, though, shoppers at some outlets of the Swedish furniture giant have begun to worry about their safety.

Customers in Germany have been left shaken by a recent bomb attack at an IKEA warehouse store in Dresden and an additional scare on Wednesday in Kiel. The incidents came on the heels of a string of attacks in late May on outlets in neighboring Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Ongoing investigations have made little headway. On Wednesday evening, officials at an IKEA in the northern port city Kiel discovered a suspicious "mobile device" and quickly cleared out the store. Ultimately, a bomb squad brought didn't find any explosive devices, but the incident does underscore how nerves have been rattled by the Dresden attack.

IKEA says it has no information on the background of the Dresden attack, which occurred last Friday. The earlier attacks likewise remain a mystery. A company spokeswoman said earlier this week she would not speculate on any possible motives behind the attack. The company did say, however, that it has not received any threats.

Looking for a Connection

The explosion in the Dresden store happened in the kitchen department at around 7:45 p.m. on Friday evening. The damage to IKEA property was limited, but two customers were slightly injured -- with a 32-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man both suffering acoustic trauma. The store was cleared out and a special police unit, complete with five bomb-sniffing dogs, inspected the premises. By Saturday, the store had reopened to the public.

The Dresden explosion is similar to those which took place on May 31 at IKEA branches in Ghent, Belgium, the French city of Lomme and the Dutch city of Eindhoven. Investigators with the the Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) said this week they haven't ruled out a connection between the Dresden incident and the others. Authorities do believe, however, that the late May explosions are linked, but have yet to pinpoint a connection.

On Tuesday, police in the Netherlands released security camera footage of a man suspected of involvement in the Eindhoven attack. The footage shows a man walking towards the IKEA furniture store but not entering. Shortly after, a small explosion went off in a trash can outside the store. Police officials in Germany said they are in contact with their Dutch counterparts about the case and expect to receive copies of the footage in the near future.

New Leads in Dresden

On Wednesday, German authorities revealed that several e-mail messages claiming responsibility for the attack in Dresden had been received. LKA officials are in the process of analyzing the messages, the content of which is largely similar.

"We are investigating intensively to figure out who was behind this," an LKA spokeswoman told reporters on Wednesday. Police said they are trying to determine whether the person or people behind the letters were actually responsible for the explosion. They did not say, however, if any demands had been made or whether threats of further attacks had been made.

German news agency DAPD reported Wednesday that messages claiming responsibility for the attack were sent to both the LKA in Dresden and IKEA, but neither organization would reveal details about their contents.

Hoever, Dresden's Dresdner Neuesten Nachrichten newspaper reported what it claimed to be the contents of the letter in its Thursday issue. "With this letter, I claim responsibility for the attack on IKEA Dresden," the letter-writer reportedly stated. The newspaper claimed that the sender had written the letter in broken German and had demanded an eight-digit sum of money and claimed the person would commit further attacks of the money hadn't been received within seven days. The e-mail, sent from a Yahoo address, the paper reported, also included a photo of a young man. But sources told the newspaper it could also have been sent by a copycat.

Increased Vigilance at IKEA Stores

So far, neither witnesses nor surveillance video from the IKEA store has turned up any promising leads for investigators in the case, and police have been unable to identify any suspect. Police have created a composite sketch of what they believe the Dresden suspect may look like, which was broadcast on a popular German crime-solving show on Wednesday night. But a spokeswoman for KLA said one day later that only about 10 leads had been generated by the show and that none had brought the investigation forward.

In response to the attack, IKEA officials said Wednesday they had increased security measures. "Security standards at IKEA are very high at all of our furniture stores," the company. "One measure will be that we will place uniformed security guards in front of our stores. That is a purely preventative measure to protect our employees and customers."

Earlier this week, IKEA Germany spokeswoman Sabine Nold said employees at the company had been asked to increase their alertness and vigilence and had been trained to detect possible threat situations. Spiegel International

KDN Tidak Konsisten: Ibrahim Ali Perlu Ditahan Di bawah Akta Hasutan - Majlis Peguam

-mk

Perhimpunan Bersih Adalah Platform Suara Rakyat

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 04:06 AM PDT

-tvsnews

New Zeal And Enthusiasm For Painting

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 02:04 AM PDT

The Perahu Nelayan Traditional for Pak Pin.

2010 was a very lean year as far as my painting goes. For the whole of the year only one painting was done and it was upon the request of my wife Fatthiyah who wanted to give it to her school as a farewell gift upon retirement at the end of the year. Since it was done on a small canvass, the painting of a field of tulips did not have an impact and she had to buy another memento to replace it. Since it was her choice to do it on that size, I can't be blamed.
The above picture is my painting done for Tuan Haji Ariffin Mamat aka Pak Pin an avid collector of my paintings. So far ten of my paintings are among his collection in his home in Taman Melati, Kuala Lumpur. Pak Pin is a Malaysian Kelantanese residing in Jeddah. Pak Pin had asked me to paint another painting of the same boat that I did for Dato' Jaffar Lamri but from another angle. For this painting I had made another visit to the fish landing jetty in Pulau Gajah, Pantai Sabak, Kota Bharu. Lucky thing for me, the boat was still moored to the jetty. I had signed the painting in 2009 but did not deliver it till recently in June 2011.
Though he had asked me to deliver the painting to his sister's house in Kelantan, I did not do so as I was not satisfied with the painting. It was only in 2011 after further touch up that I felt it is good enough to be delivered. Together with other paintings for my children, I brought the painting to Kuala Lumpur and his son Aidil was kind enough to come and collect from me at Taman Amanputra while I was visiting my daughter. Sorry Aidil, uncle forgot to take a picture of you to be included in this blog. I promise that it will be included when I visit your home in KL.
Among my children, my youngest daughter was one of the earliest to have a painting done for her. The triptych was a slight deviation from the black and white that she had earlier requested which I failed to come up with something worthwhile. It was actually my first attempt at an abstract painting. It was named as Cantuman Kasih 1 as suggested by Pak Pin.
Cantuman Kasih 1 as see on the wall of my daughter's home in Kerteh, Terengganu.

Since the painting for my eldest daughter Azura was based on the same concept I as the one for Azini, I am naming it Cantuman Kasih 2. I even helped her to hang it on her wall. From the look on her face, she doesn't seem too happy with it especially after she had seen the one for my son Azrin and also the one for Pak Pin. I guess an abstract is not for her and I promise her to do another one or two.

Cantuman Kasih 2 on the wall of Azura's home in Taman Amanputra, Puchong.

For my son Azrin I did a painting of The Bird of Paradise flower and it was on a bigger canvass as he had a large wall to cover. In fact he had asked of a 3' x 5' which I was not willing to attempt. Anyway the 30" x 34" unframed canvass took up another bigger dimension after framing and had to be carried in the passenger section of my cousin's car when taking it to KL.

Azrin is seen here drilling the holes to hold the painting.

Space enough for some smaller frames to keep Bird of Paradise some company.

Azrin with his wife Yani and baby Ilham posing with the painting.

The whole clan including yours truly wanted to be in too.

Right now I am working with another three paintings. One is for Aleef Muhamad who had given me a picture of the paddy field near her home in Kelantan. Another is for a certain collector from Jeddah who maybe visiting my home in Pasir Mas. It will be a gift to him.
The third painting is a new request from a friend of my son Azuan by the name of Dominic Singh of Bank Negara KL. It is a painting of some Japanese kois and in its final stages of completion.

Hopefully 2011 will be a bumper year for me and my zeal and enthusiasm to paint will continue so that I will be able to cope with the few more paintings that was long overdue to some people.

If BN is Bersih, it will not face opposition, let alone being toppled by them! ;)

On Nov 30, 2009, Dr M blogged about 'Umno' and said:
1. Pilihanraya Umum ke-13 hanya dua tahun lagi. Saya sedang meneliti reaksi rakyat terhadap UMNO dibawah pimpinan baru. Saya terkejut. Saya terkejut kerana seorang bekas pemimpin UMNO yang kanan telah meluahkan perasaannya dengan berkata "UMNO is rotten to the core" (UMNO busuk hingga ke ususnya).

The truth is the BN government is a corrupted government with 'rotten-to-the-core' Umno leading the way.

Kes Khalwat Salim Parlan: Mahkamah Tetapkan Perbicaraan 26 Julai

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 02:25 AM PDT

Dia dituduh mengikut Seksyen 27 (a) Enakmen Kesalahan Jenayah Syariah Pulau Pinang 1996 manakala Nur Diayana mengikut Seksyen 27 (b) enakmen yang sama. - Bernama

Top 20 Signs That Tell You ...

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 01:27 AM PDT

Thanks to Nick who wrote the following post on Top 20 Signs that tell you  that you're in Malaysia when:

Your keep hearing suggestions to change your lifestyles (spending wise) coming from a minister whenever the government wants to raise the price of petrol.

You learnt that the word "Rationalization" better explain the act of increasing the price of basic necessities rather than the word "PRICE INCREASE or Barang Naik" (Huh? Explain it to me again! ).

You keep hearing that the price of fuel after rationalization, is actually lower than those enjoyed by the neighbouring countries. (Three increases annually and we are still cheaper? Is it dirt cheap to begin with?)

You used to go to mamak stall or a kopitiam and especially the local pub to hear tall tales and incredulous stories. Nowadays you just have to read the local dailies and the evening news.

Electricity rate increase by The National Power are implemented to ensure it enjoys maximum profit and NOT to stave it from falling into the red. (The same goes for the Highway operators as well. (But then, if they are facing bankruptcy – are we supposed to rescue them with our money too? I must be too stupid to understand this logic!).

Fuel prices always raises in tandem with world market price but whenever there is a decrease in the global oil prices, there's no reduction and the government is quiet like a mouse. (Aiyah, do have to change my lifestyle again kah??)

You can create your own FB page without paying someone else a single cent and yet the government paid RM 1.8 million to "someone" to do it. (I wonder who was that "someone" laughing all the way to the bank?)

A nationwide campaign was launched to provide EVERY student with their own Netbook but neglected to remember that all classroom in the country only have 2 power outlets each. (Welcome to the world of bizarre and unexplained phenomenon where students are supplied with a hand cranking devices with utilizes a bicycle tyres and a dynamo to provide power for their netbooks…Just kidding!).

The only honest and actual news reporting in the evening news on TV is the weather forecast. (Sadly we didn't have paparazzi type of girls presenting the weather otherwise we would have a nation well verse in metrological foreplay ..err.. I mean forecasting).

The thing that is true and factual in the local dailies are 4d numbers and the horse race results. (There are at least some truth in those paper after all. Otherwise they would only be fit for toilet paper).

Old and over the hill politicians are made minister and for one ministry, it could also include the ICT portfolio. (Ok, let's change mode! BTW anything that has numbers and decimal points are connected to those despicable Anonymous Hacker group, I think?? Damn, the gerbil on the wheel is slow today…maybe I need a Viagra!).

Submarines bought by the government that is worth billions and billions of RM are not capable of submerging. No one was at fault or have taken responsibility or taken to task and by the way, the sub still can't swim..err.. submerge! (Has anyone seen the manual??? No? What is a manual???)

Everyone goes to the police station to place a police report on political issues and on political parties but NOT as often to report crime or to seek protection. (One could be thrown in jail for reporting a crime. Remember the reporter who was placed under ISA for her own protection?).

The communist insurgents were defeated decades ago but curiously enough the ancient law passed by the Parliament to fight them is still being used. (China and Vietnam is our enemy now? Where's that IA when you need him?)

Gambling is forbidden to Muslims but how come some are allowed to be directors and shareholders in those gambling companies? (Huh? Run that by me again!).

Organizing and holding a rally to press for clean and fair election are deemed anarchist and traitorous not to mention subversive elements BUT a Malay supremacist NGO threatening violence and rioting is just an expression of freedom of speech. (No need to add anything here!)

You see the people appeal for the reduction of cost of living and the government reply with a stupid remarks such as "Don't use a car, use the public transport instead" or "The people need to change their lifestyles". (Instead of eating 3 times a day I should only have a meal every other day, is that it?).

Military spending of billions wins over the cost of subsidies that cost the government extra hundreds of millions only. (Does the government know that billions is more than millions or are they like Dr Evil who thinks billions is much much more than a trillion?).

The lay people would rather believe the opposition politician than take the word of a fool..err..full minister of Communication. P.S.- They say evolution has made humans masters of the planet but I think it is likely he was born before the process started).

The people are embarrassed of their government but the government doesn't realized that they are embarrassing themselves. Really, a million youths assembled to defend Putrajaya??? More like thousands of them coming to watch Korean popstar group and ignoring the PM altogether.

Written by Nick and sent to me via email.

So, tell me again - what sort of country are we living in today?

Mohd Sabu: Himpunan Bersih Adalah Aman Jika Polis Bertindak Adil

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 12:27 AM PDT

Himpunan Bersih 2.0 aman, polis patut kerjasama

katanya.

Jangan peduli "gendang" Perkasa

Kalau pergi demonstrasi macammana tak nak berlaku huru hara.

"jadi jangan takut. Bila gendang bunyi kuat, biasanya isinya kosong. kalau Perkasa bunyi kuat, mesti tak ramai datang,"
katanya disambut ketawa hadirin.

"Kami berharap kerajaan bertolerasi terhadap aktiviti perhimpunan aman, bukannya menyekat saluran rakyat meluahkan perasaan," kata presidennya, Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woon.

-HD

Ulasan GB
