Countdown to Bersih 2.0

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 09:58 AM PDT

I haven't written for a while, and many things have transpired in the meantime, ranging from a RM1.8 million facebook tourism campaign by Ng Yen Yen; rising cost of living, porn show in KL Magistrates Court, and to top the icing on the cake - BN, UMNO, Perkasa, Utusan, and "independent" MP's daily tirades against Bersih 2.0.

I'm not going to say a lot here, just that when the cause is a just and clear one, then there is only one thing left to do.

Join in. It's now or never. Make it count. Do your part for the society.

Your parents, friends or relatives may be concerned if you show up at the gathering points, and you may not want to be in the line of fire of the tear gas, chemical jet water or police baton, but you can still contribute. Be out there. Wear yellow, or if you seek to confuse the police, wear a tone off yellow, light orange perhaps. With logos such as Digi. Raise a yellow flag at home if you want to. Or tie a yellow ribbon on the aerial of your car if that's the only thing you can do. Not only in KL, but throughout the country. And folks overseas - you'll have it better without police intimidation. As long as we all do something. Be seen. Show solidarity for a just cause.

Just do it.

Aircraft Fuel

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 08:46 AM PDT

Dave and Jim were a couple of drinking buddies who worked as aircraft mechanics in Melbourne, Australia .

One day the airport was fogged in and they were stuck in the hangar with nothing to do.

Dave said, 'Man, I wish we had something to drink!'

Jim says, 'Me too. Y'know, I've heard you can drink jet fuel and get a buzz.

You wanna try it?'

So they pour themselves a couple of glasses of high octane booze and get completely smashed.

The next morning Dave wakes up and is surprised at how good he feels.

In fact he feels GREAT! NO hangover! NO bad side effects.

Nothing!

Then the phone rings. It's Jim. Jim says, 'Hey, how do you feel this morning?'

Dave says, 'I feel great, how about you?'

Jim says, 'I feel great, too. You don't have a hangover?'

Dave says, 'No that jet fuel is great stuff -- no hangover, nothing. We ought to do this more often..'

'Yeah, well there's just one thing.'

'What's that?'

'Have you farted yet?'

'No.'

'Well, DON'T - cause I'm in New Zealand.'

300 Peguam Telah Bersedia Bantu Peserta BERSIH

300 peguam sertai himpunan Bersih 2.0

Beliau ditemui ketika memberikan khidmat nasihatnya kepada seorang Pemuda PAS Shah Alam ditahan polis hanya kerana memegang baju Bersih 2.0 berwarna kuning malam tadi.

IBH

WASPADA: Biskut Perisa Cicak

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 07:49 AM PDT

Johor Bharu - Seorang pendandan rambut terkejut apabila menyedari biskut gandum jenama terkemuka kegemarannya mengandungi bangkai cicak.

-SH

Tangkap Bukan Penyelesaian Terbaik: KSU KDN

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 05:30 AM PDT

Public porn screening in court 'a first'. Umno court has scored many firsts! ;)

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 04:42 AM PDT

Karpal Singh slammed the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate Court's handling of the Datuk T proceedings yesterday for showing the sex video to the public and for allowing Anwar to be implicated in his absence. In a statement today, the Bukit Gelugor MP and veteran lawyer said, "This is the first time in legal history of the country that a pornographic video clip produced as an exhibit in court has been played on two big screens, one facing them magistrate and the other the public gallery."

While he agreed that as a fundamental element of the charge against the Datuk T trio, the screening had to be done in the presence of the magistrate and relevant parties, and in such situations the public gallery would always be cleared. He said, "It should have been the business of the magistrate to have immediately removed the screen facing the public gallery and cleared the public gallery."

2 more women to check on…

I was getting ready to go out on Thursday morning when a call came in from SN at the HIV clinic. In front of her at the clinic was a young single mother with a 2 year old child who needed help. We only send volunteers to the HIV clinic on Wednesdays, so on that particular day, none of our volunteers were at the hospital.

Knowing SN, she'd usually only call me direct to refer me a case if it was a real desperate case. From the basic info I got from SN, yes, I agree this lady may be quite desperate.

The lady, Zalia, just recently got divorced, and the ex-husband just left like that without leaving her anything or giving any financial support for the child. Zalia is not working, and therefore cannot afford to buy all the diapers and milk for her child. SN asked if Buddies could help her out.

I told SN we can try to help, but I'd need to visit her first to assess her situation. We can't simply give her assistance just by listening to her story. Some people want help but become reluctant when we ask if we could visit them at home.

I heard SN asking the young mother if she'd allow me to visit her at home. Well, not her home exactly. It seems she's staying with her "mak angkat" instead of her own mother. Hmmm… does she have a problem with her own family?

I am not going to assume anything as yet. Zalia has allowed me to visit her, so probably one of the days this coming week, I may give her a call and visit her to get more info about her.

Yesterday, as I was driving at the PLUS expressway on my way to KL, a call came in on my handphone. When I answered the call, I heard a lady's voice, "Ni Puan Afizah ke dari…. errrrr…. badis ke budis?" Hehehe… another one of those who's not sure how to pronounce Buddies, but at least she bothered to ask how it's pronounced rather than some people who'd straight away pronounce it as Buddhist…

I couldn't hear her too well at the expressway and using my bluetooth to answer, so I told her I'd call her back when it's more convenient. So yes, since I needed to do a pit-stop… errr…. pee-stop at Ulu Bernam, I decided to return her call then.

The lady who called me wasn't the one who is HIV infected. It's her sister, Mimi. Mimi's husband passed away some time back, and her 2 children are grown up (in their early 20's). At one time, Mimi was bedridden and all the while she had been taken care of by her sister, the one who called me. So no, Mimi definitely doesn't need our help under children education.

According to the sister, Mimi can at times be very difficult. When she feels down, she thinks everyone hates her and she starts asking why she's not dead yet. Although the sister tries her very best to understand and empathise, sometimes it is stressful for her as well. She has her own family to take care of, (and luckily her husband understands and doesn't mind that she's taking care of her sister) and when Mimi becomes difficult to please, then she too would feel so stressed out. She can't let things out by simply talking things out with anybody, since Mimi has HIV, which is a very sensitive issue. So when she found out about Buddies, she thought she might as well give it a try.

I asked if it was alright if I visit them at home. I mean, Mimi may not be too pleased that her sister had told someone else about her HIV. According to the sister, just say that SN was the one who asked me to check on her case. Mimi usually listens to SN more than anyone else.

I promised Mimi's sister I'd try to visit them after next weekend. Will be pretty busy this coming week, with an AGM to attend in Putrajaya on Saturday and our Family Day on Sunday, plus I'd need to slot in one of the days within the week to visit the young single mother with the 2 year old child since their case sounds more urgent.

Ooops… just as I was typing this post, Zalia called and asked when we could meet. She sounded rather desperate. Since she needs to go to the hospital on Monday for her blood test, I told her to wait for me at the hospital after her blood test is done.

So yes, on Monday I've got a date with Zalia…

News from: http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/2oot/Article/ (By Dawn Chan, 24/6/2011)
Park visitors are concerned about a cracked viewing platform in Taman Tasik Manjalara in Kepong. One of the several viewing platforms surrounding the Taman Tasik Manjalara in Kepong is on the verge of collapsing and endangering the safety of park users. One of the viewing platforms built on the edge of the lake adjoining the recreational park's jogging track had cracked from its pathway foundation, leaving a 50cm gap.
Several joggers Streets spoke to said they began to notice the deteriorating condition of the platform about a year ago when the gap was still small. They said the gap grew bigger and they have alerted City Hall about the safety hazard. However, the joggers claimed that their complaints had fallen on deaf ears.
Chong, who goes to the park daily, said he and fellow joggers had even tied red ribbons at the cracked platform to warn park users from stepping onto it. "We highlighted this matter to City Hall several times but nothing was done to address the problem. "I urge City Hall to act quickly before it becomes costlier to repair the damage," Chong added. "I think the platform cracked because of poor design and a foundation that is not deep enough," he said. Chong, who is from Segambut, said if the viewing platform was not repaired, it could weaken further. He said City Hall should check on the other viewing platforms to see if they are in similar condition.
Lim Tiam Soon, 68, who goes to the park with his grandchildren, described the situation as hazardous. "Instead of spending time leisurely here, I have to keep an eye on the children as I am afraid they will go near the platform or fall into the lake. "City Hall should repair the platform quickly or cordon off the area," said the Taman Maluri resident.
Another Taman Maluri resident Yap Fong Yoong, 63, expressed regret that the park had not been properly maintained for sometime. "The fountains are out of order and the place is no longer safe. "Previously, there were guards on duty, even at night," said Yap, who is a regular visitor at the park for about 10 years now.
The trio had sought the assistance of Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng to have the matter resolved. Lim said he had written to City Hall's Landscaping and Urban Control Cleaning Department but had received no response from it.

Beacon Hospital: Mother's & Father's Day health screening only at RM399!

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 05:33 AM PDT

This is one promotion by Beacon Hospital that is not to be missed.

The sign up and scanning period are until 30th June 2011 and 31 December 2011 respectively.

If you compare the actual price of each itemized screening with other health centers or hospitals, it is at least 20% cheaper. For example, for item no. 6, the 'Mammogram / Ultrasound Breasts' scan, the actual price is RM160 compared to another diagnostic medical centre that is currently running a promotion for its 'Breast Examination: Mammogram or Ultrasound including Consultation. RM89 instead of RM200' via an Internet company built on the social e-commerce and collective-buying platform. ;)

I already did my screening last Monday. Am I satisfied with the services or facilities provided? Certainly, yes!

Fagili berhasrat menyaman hospital berkenaan.

"Saya sungguh marah dan mahukan jawapan. Isteri saya ketika kali pertama dibawa ke hospital tidak mati tetapi mereka berkata dia mati.

Mereka sepatutnya boleh menyelamatkannya," kata Fagili.

Jurucakap hospital berkata: "Kami sudah memulakan siasatan." - AP

Majlis Peguam Pertikai Mahkamah Benarkan Tayangan Semula Video Seks

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 01:00 AM PDT

kata beliau lagi.
