Ibrahim Ali Hamba Tauke Cina?

Ibrahim Ali Hamba Tauke Cina?

Ibrahim Ali Hamba Tauke Cina?

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 08:38 AM PDT

Depan orang, Ibrahim Ali berkokok-kokok memaki orang Cina, memberi amaran kepada orang Cina, mengugut untuk menumpah darah orang Cina.

TETAPI, lupakah kita Ibrahim Ali pernah dilantik menjadi ahli lembaga Pengarah salah sebuah syarikat milik Vinsetan walaupun beliau tidak membeli walau satu saham pun? Bagaimana Ibrahim Ali boleh dilantik sebegitu mudah kalau beliau bukan balachi kepada Vinsetan, seorang tauke Cina.

Mengikut pendedahan Dato' Mohd.Ariff Sabri bin Hj.Abdul Aziz, bekas ADUN Pulau Manis:

Have we lost our marbles? Ibrahim Ali is a bloody hypocrite. His entire business ventures are done with the Chinese whose blood he is after and the commission of bodily harm he is advocating. His bridge projects were completed and done with Chinese and Chinese money. He was off to Macau last week to meet up with Chinese cukongs.

Saya berhenti mempercayai cakap Ibrahim Ali semenjak beliau melompat masuk UMNO sejurus selepas pilihanraya 1990.

Project House – First Year Anniversary

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 09:29 AM PDT

15 June 2011 marked one full year of Diyanazman family living in our very own house. Time sure flies very fast. While we were in the process of purchasing and renovating the property last year, I had a list of improvements that I would like to implement around the house. But before I knew it, it has already been a year! And what have I done to beautify the house? Nothing much. Darn it!

Seriously I believe I could have done better. In regards to time management that is! If only I hadn't procrastinate so much in hanging the pictures and changing the drapes etc. But in terms of funding, oh well… tak dapat lah makcik sendiri nak menolong coz no money means no money, takkan nak rompak bank pulak! LOL

Anyway, for the sake of reminiscence, let's see what kind of changes we have made to the house.  Initially, the house that we bought from a Bai family was extremely basic, dull and cold. But nevertheless I fell in love with it and seduced forced Azman to clean up all his savings for the down-payment. Hehe!

The positive side of buying a basic house is I get to do what ever I want with it without having to face too much hassle of  dismantling yucky built-in furniture, removing ugly tiles etc and rebuilding them all over again… Oh I cannot imagine if this house came with those Mak-Mak Datin kinda flowery plaster ceiling.. I think I won't wait for the workers kot…. Confirm aku panjat sendiri dinding and robohkan semua. Tak kira masa tu aku pakai kain atau seluar! LOL

Below is the south east corner of our living room. Before and after.

Notice the differences? The single fluorescent light has been replaced by chandelier in my favourite rustic style. The simplest box-like plaster ceiling framed the upper side of the walls but in the pic above the lights in that plaster ceiling was turned off. Instead of building a TV console, I took the simpler approach by using wallpaper. While most people would cover an entire wall with the wallpaper, I carefully matched the width with the plaster ceiling box above it and turned it as a highlight to the TV. That's why I chose  a black design. I wanted damask motive but my curtain (yang dah roboh 5 kali Miki buat tu) was already in damask so tukar amik design cam lain lah.By the way, I also raised the curtain a couple of feet higher than how the previous owner did it. Made the ceiling seems higher.

The best thing about this part of the house is the fact that I managed to hide all the cables connected to the TV. A couple of months ago I went to the Royal Chulan yang konon-konon royal ittew… sekali kat bawah TV dia… haaa..amik ko wayar berselirat! Eww tak taste! If you can't hide the cables, then forget wall-mounting, just put it on the TV cabinet.

In the future I want to change the 5 year old coffee table to something more tasteful. Now it fits a kopitiam la kan? This room also desperately need some flowers or potted plant. Now it's kinda dull…

Below is the dining room and part of the dry kitchen.

The improvements that I did here is of course the flooring. The earlier floor tiles was pink and I changed it into the Illuminati style because yeahhhh dude…. I am soooooo into the Illuminati…*cuts a black goat and drink its blood*

I also removed the 5 feet tiles on the walls (I freaking hate that!) and simply painted the walls in the colors that I love the most- red and pink. I installed plaster ceiling and air-con.  I forbid any kitchen hutch in the area and I bought a dining set for 8 from Lorenzo. The chairs are white, I love it! The pendant light was RM169! I lagiiiiii love it!! The dry kitchen cabinet was initially wooden color and I hate it. I wish I could tear it down and change to new cabinets but it would cost a bomb. So takde duit buat cara takde duit, I simply painted it white. I changed the old school sink into a black and white bowl basin that match my Illuminati floor and changed the cabinet door handles to those that match the white scheme. I remember we had to buy 42 handles and it was quite expensive for handles. Darn it!

In the future I will dress the red wall with retro design ornaments/ posters/ paintings… Maybe add some standing lights..

Below is the other part of the wet kitchen.

The after photo above was taken after the renovation was done but we were yet to move in. I changed the kitchen backsplash to yellow glass mosaic (it's the cheapest from Home Depot). Changed the pink tiled counter surface to glossy black, removed the window to the wet kitchen, extend the cabinet below it and installed kitchen hob and hood.

Gambar ni so tak siap, behind the stove I installed a mirror (like how vain can I be?) but it is extremely not practical. I never give a damn anyway cause most of my cooking is done in the wet kitchen. My favourite part of this room is the mixer tap (also can hardly be seen in the pic) yang sangat cool and make me feel like Nigella Lawson. Hehehe..

I didn't change the window panes because we ran out of money! Hehehe… Now this part look a lot better then this after I placed my appliances, drapes, potted plant, cutlery etc on the counter.Maybe later I will take a better picture of this room.

In the future I will change the window to something cooler hehe

Last but not least is driest part of the kitchen.

This AFTER photo is also an old one. Now I have placed my pinggan mangkuk on the shelves so it doesn't look this bare anymore.  There are some flowers here too now and magazines at the breakfast nook. Notice I have hidden the pipe and make my glass bowl basin look almost like it's just an ornament? I like that very much. I changed the microwave with a built-in oven and most importantly, no more reddish wooden color and fugly tiles.

In the future? Well, maybe I will re-design my entire kitchen so that I can have a kitchen island smacked in the middle.

That's enough for now, I will write about the bathrooms later and you'll the drastic changes definitely.

I believe the house is not warm because of the red wall or yellow tiles but the people in it.  I love my retro old house to bits and the two other guys that I am sharing it with… This is my heaven!

Have a nice day everyone…

Sama Seperti Dilakukan Terhadap Kelantan, Kini Putrajaya Rancangkan Kerugian Untuk Pulau Pinang

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 10:20 AM PDT

Q: In the recent state assembly sitting in Kelantan Datuk Mustafa Mohamad admitted he asked you to stop developing Kelantan when PAS took over Government...

Dr M : Well not only Mustafa but all the rest of Umno felt you should not develop Kelantan because if you do they will tell people..."Look even if you don't vote for BN you will still get development, so why bother to vote for BN?" - that's what PAS will say and that has always been a problem with PAS even in my constituency. If a village is supportive of PAS and i were to give a bridge or whatever PAS will tell people "Look you don't have to support the Government so support us." Because of that we had to hold back.

Teaching Maths - Past, Present and Future

1. Teaching Maths In 1970
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100..His cost of production is 4/5 of the price.
Your assignment: What is his profit?

2. Teaching Maths In 1980
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is 80% of the price.
Your assignment: What is his profit?

3. Teaching Maths In 1990
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is £80.
Your assignment: How much was his profit?

4. Teaching Maths In 2000
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is £80 and his profit is £20.
Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Maths In 2005
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habit of animals or the preservation of our woodlands.
Your assignment: Discuss how the birds and squirrels might feel as the
logger cut down their homes just for a measly profit of £20.

6. Teaching Maths In 2009
A logger is arrested for trying to cut down a tree in case it may be offensive to Muslims or other religious groups not consulted in the
felling licence.
He is also fined a £100 as his chainsaw is in breach of Health and Safety legislation as it deemed too dangerous and could cut something. He has used the chainsaw for over 20 years without incident however he does not have the correct certificate of competence and is therefore considered to be a recidivist and habitual criminal. His DNA is sampled and his details circulated throughout all
government agencies. He protests and is taken to court and fined another £100 because he is such an easy target.

When he is released he returns to find Gypsies have cut down half his wood to build a camp on his land. He tries to throw them off but is arrested, prosecuted for harassing an ethnic minority, imprisoned and fined a further £100. While he is in jail again the Gypsies cut down the rest of his wood and sell it on the black market for £100 cash.

They also have a BBQ of squirrel and pheasant and leave behind several
tonnes of rubbish and asbestos sheeting.

The forester on release is warned that failure to clear the fly tipped rubbish immediately at his own cost is an offence. He complains and is arrested for environmental pollution, breach of the peace and invoiced £12,000 plus VAT for safe disposal costs by a regulated government contractor.

Your assignment: How many times is the logger going to have to be arrested and fined before he realises that he is never going to make £20 profit by hard work, give up, sign onto the dole and live off the state for the rest of his life?

7. Teaching Maths In 2010
A logger doesn't sell a lorry load of timber because he can't get a loan to buy a new lorry because his bank has spent all his and their money on a derivative of securitised debt related to sub- prime mortgages in Alabama and lost the lot with only some government money left to pay a few million pound bonuses to their senior directors and the traders who made the biggest losses.

The logger struggles to pay the £1,200 road tax on his old lorry - however, as it was built in the 1970s it no longer meets the emissions regulations and he is forced to scrap it.

Some Bulgarian loggers buy the lorry from the scrap merchant and put it back on the road. They undercut everyone on price for haulage and send their cash back home, while claiming unemployment for themselves and their relatives. If questioned they speak no English and it is easier to deport them at the governments expense.

Following their holiday back home they return to the UK with different names and fresh girls and start again. The logger protests, is accused of being a bigoted racist and as his name is on the side of his old lorry he is forced to pay £1,500 registration fees as a gang master.

The Government borrows more money to pay more to the bankers as bonuses are not cheap. The parliamentarians feel they are missing out and claim the difference on expenses and allowances.
You do the maths.

Chun Wai should not be blamed

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 08:56 AM PDT

The readers' poll on 'Bersih 2.0' which was carried by The Star newspaper drew mixed reactions from politicians, the media and blog writers. Some said it was tantamount to The Star throwing its full support for the planned rally next month while others described it as an immodesty.

To accuse The Star editorial team as being ignoramous and not sensitive to the sentiments caused by Bersih 2.0 is also not proper as the newspaper is professionally-led. However, professionals do err once in a while.

But to accuse The Star of committing an enormity is a bit overboard. If we expect the government, especially the Home Ministry to take a relentless action against the publication, we should may as well recap what other papers have done in the past few months. I personally believe what Utusan Malaysia did about two months ago was of 'equal' to that of The Star.

The Bersih 2.0 poll puts The Star group editor-in-chief Wong Chun Wai (picture) in a limbo. Making him the villain is not just. Calling him a sympathiser of Bersih 2.0 and an Opposition's supporter will be ultimately wrong and prejudice as he himself is a strong supporter of Barisan Nasional.

This is evident in his many writings about his dissent towards the Opposition. I believe The Star, too is still very much upholding the ruling party's interest although it may sometimes give 'a little space to news from the other side'. And there is nothing wrong with that as it also enhances its circulation among the anti-BN readers.

Now, I personally believe Chun Wai and The Star will take action against its online editor Joseph Raj who unilaterally pasted up the poll without his bosses' consent.

I was just informed that Joseph has accepted full responsibility for carrying out the decision without consulting his immediate supervisor. Whatever his motive was, The Star must conduct an internal inquiry and take necessary action on him.

I was also told that Joseph was at the Home Ministry this morning for a brief 'interview' with secretary-general Mahmood Adam. The Star has also lodged reports with the police and the MCMC against manipulators of the polls, and a few SB personnel have met Joseph too.

The Star is not a one-man-show operation. Chun Wai has his assistants and other subordinates whose job is to oversee the newspaper contents from A to Z. I know how the editorial team works as I was there once. Not all matters would be referred to the group editor-in-chief as most of it will only reach the levels of his assistants or other editors.

Even the government makes mistake sometimes. There were occasions when different Cabinet Ministers made contradicting statements about its certain policies. The Prime Minister will only attend to major issues while his subordinates (the ministers) will attend to matters affecting their portfolios. However, the PM will from time to time announce substantive and important matters of the ministries, should the needs arise.

Chun Wai is not a perfect scapegoat either. Of all the accusations that he is pro-Opposition and - to some extents a subversive agent - his stewardship has seen The Star being at the forefront in the nation's print media industry. Apart from disseminating well-and-balanced news, it also plays a constructive role in bringing the Malaysians together.

The Bersih poll was a mistake by one or two personnel but it should not be turned into a passport to batter the whole organisation. Some doctors do make silly errors on the operation table, engineers' miscalculation caused some bridges and buildings to collapse while some government projects had failed due to over-zealous implementation.

It is wrong to question The Star fidelity and it is also not right to create a detest against the newspaper. All newspapers have committed similar errors in the past - mostly caused by unilateral decisions by one or two oblivious personnel.

Most of us would prefer to see some heads roll but in this case, its better to leave the matter to the company's jurisdiction. Of course, the government has a say but any course of action to be taken must not stir the good spirit of Barisan Nasional.

We - the pro-BN bloggers, writers, journalists and others - have a bigger agenda in securing the ruling party's victory in the next national poll. Let us not lose our sanity by firing at each other. By the way, did we blame Aziz Ishak of Utusan?

This is not a piece to cover Wong Chun Wai but something for us to understand. Malaysia is complex society!

If certain quarters claim not to know why the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9 needs to be held, the reasons have been provided by the BN leaders themselves within and outside Parlaiament, said DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang today.

The reasons are:
1. Prime Minister's Department's written reply yesterday to DAP's Seputeh M Teresa Kok, in which it was revealed RM1.18 billion worth of programmes and projects had been announced for Sarawak during the state's recently concluded polls.
2.  During the election, it was not just Sarawak BN but the entire federal government that had campaign, during which a cabinet meeting had been cancelled. The move to 'dragoon all federal ministers' to the eastern state for the polls made "a complete mockery of the principle of free and fair elections!
3. BN's spending of over RM500 million in the Sarawak election, which Lim said breaks election laws limiting election expenditures for state assembly candidates to RM100,000 per candidate.

Semua Jangan Cakap Banyak Lagi, 99% Sokong Himpunan Bersih Diteruskan

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 08:29 AM PDT

Bagaimanapun mereka kecewa kerana tinjauan itu ditarik balik portal The Star.

-tvsnews

More Holy Humour

There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country.

'Is there anything breakable in here?' asked the postal clerk.

'Only the Ten Commandments,' answered the lady.

'Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world.

There are those who wake up in the morning and say,
'Good morning, Lord,'

and there are those who wake up in the morning and say,
'Good Lord, it's morning.'

A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: 'I have circled the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.'

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note: 'I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket I'll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.'

There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: 'I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it's still out there in your pockets.'

A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, 'Boys and girls, what do we know about God?'

A hand shot up in the air. 'He is an artist!' said the kindergarten boy.

'Really? How do you know?' the teacher asked.

'You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... '

A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.

Reverend,' said the young man, 'I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip.'

The minister chuckled, 'I know what you mean. It's the same in my business.'

People want the front of the bus, the back of the church, and the center of attention.

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, 'I know what the Bible means!'

His father smiled and replied, 'What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?'

The son replied, 'I do know!'

'Okay,' said his father. 'What does the Bible mean?'

'That's easy, Daddy.'The young boy replied excitedly, 'It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.''

Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about.

The daughter answered, 'Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt.'

Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about. He said 'Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming.'

After getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the limo, (and he doesn't travel light), the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.

'Excuse me, Your Holiness,' says the driver, 'Would you please take your seat so we can leave?'

'Well, to tell you the truth,' says the Pope, 'They never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I'd really like to drive today.'

'I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?' protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning.

'Who's going to tell?' says the Pope with a smile?

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kph. (Remember, the Pope is German.)

'Please slow down, Your Holiness!' pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

'Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!' moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

'I need to talk to the Chief,' he says to the dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.

'So bust him,' says the Chief.

'I don't think we want to do that, he's really important,' said the cop.

The Chief exclaimed,' All the more reason!'

'No, I mean really important,' said the cop with a bit of persistence.

The Chief then asked, 'Who do you have there, the mayor?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: 'A senator?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: 'The Prime Minister?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

Well,' said the Chief, 'Who is it?'

Cop: 'I think it's God!'

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, 'What makes you think it's God?'

Cop: 'His chauffeur is the Pope!'

Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk!

Another day at the clinic

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 06:10 AM PDT

As I got to the main entrance of Ipoh GH this morning, I knew finding a parking space would be tough. I didn't even bother trying to find a nearby parking space… I just went one round and straight away I went to park my car where nobody would go to unless they had to. It was quite a walking distance, but since I was no longer limping, I figured the much needed exercise would do me good.

I didn't have a chance to sit yet when the nurse told me that a client wanted to see me. Not a new case, but an old case. The lady Shanti, had been receiving our assistance earlier under the Children Education Fund for their back-to-school expenses.

Shanti's husband passed away a few years ago and since then she and her 3 children had been staying at her father's house, living on her father's pension. She worked before but now her father no longer allows her to work as she often gets into fits when she's tired.

We managed to get her welfare aid of RM300 per month, but that's hardly enough for her family. So she wanted to see me today to ask if we Buddies could help with her out. After listening to her, I told her we can't help her for every single thing but we may be able to help out with the children's school bus fares using our Children Education Fund. She seemed happy enough with that assurance.

I then checked with the nurse if there were any new cases to be referred to me. According to the nurse, there were none. But I still waited at the counselling room, hoping I may bump into any of my old clients whom I had not met for quite a while.

True enough, before long, Asiah walked in to get her supply of ARV. She handed over the slip to the pharmacist and then walked out (the pharmacist would call her in once the medication was ready). Asiah didn't notice me. So I walked out to meet her. As we were chatting, her husband came by with their 1+ year old son. I was quite surprised that the husband actually acknowledged my presence, asked how I was doing and even said a few more words than that. Wow! That's a whole lot of improvement. Usually, whenever I meet up with Asiah, he'd usually shy away and wait elsewhere. Even during last year's Family Day, although he came with his family, he'd just sit by himself away from the rest.

Around 11.30 am or so, knowing that there were no new cases, I thought I might as well make a move. No point wasting my time there doing nothing. But before leaving, I went to take a peek at the area outside the doctor's room, to see if there were any of my clients there. Sure glad I decided to take a peek… I saw Zainab there. I had been trying to get hold of her but my calls never got through. My guess was that she may no longer have a phone.

Zainab was chatting with another lady, and didn't see me coming. So I went to stand right in front of her face. The moment she saw me, immediately she got up, gave me a hug, kissed my cheeks and said, "Ya Allah akak, lamanya tak jumpa, rindu kat akak!"

True enough, her old phone went kaput and she no longer has a phone. And since she works on shifts, it's difficult for me to simply visit her at home. I don't want to end up visiting her when she's at work with only Zaki, her husband at home. Her daughter, Kakak, was warded for 10 days recently and although Zainab wanted to call me to inform me about it, she had lost my phone number.

I immediately invited her to our Family Day and after finding out the date, she immediately said yes. "Sekarang ni hari Ahad dah takde overtime dah kak," she said. Actually she had been depending on overtime to earn extra income but of late the company where she works had not been doing too well and so there is very limited overtime given.

I asked if Zaki was still working at the same place. Somehow I wasn't surprised when she said, "Ish, dia tu kak… mana kerja dah!" Typical of Zaki, always using his HIV as an excuse not work. Even when he finds himself a job, after a while, he'd find an excuse to quit. This wasn't the first time – he had done so a few times already to the extent that every time he lands himself a job, the first question that comes to my mind is how long he'd last with the job.

It's always Zainab who's thinking of their 2 children. She too has HIV but even when she doesn't feel too well (she also has high blood pressure), she'd be happy when she gets to do overtime for that would mean earning a bit extra for the month.

So now, Zainab pays for the rent, she pays for the food, she pays for the children's needs. And the part I hate most, Zaki buys cigarettes using her income too. Sigh…

Puan Nurul Izzah Binti Anwar [ Lembah Pantai-PKR ] Minta MENTERI DALAM NEGERI menyatakan bilakah pihak Kementerian akan memansuhkan Ordinan Darurat yang masih berkuatkuasa memandangkan jawapan Menteri bersetuju dengan pemansuhan ini.

Tuan Yang Dipertua,

i.          memperbanyakkan dan mempelbagaikan saluran bayaran balik seperti mewujudkan kaedah bayaran balik melalui potongan gaji secara tetap melalui Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDNM) dan kemudahan pembayaran melalui kaunter atau secara atas talian (online) oleh PTPTN dan ejen-ejen yang dilantik seperti Pos Malaysia dan bank (Maybank, Bank Islam, CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, Public Bank dan Bank Simpanan Nasional);

ii.      menjalin kerjasama dengan IPT untuk mengadakan taklimat kepada pelajar tahun akhir/ bakal graduan tentang kemudahan dan kepentingan membuat bayaran balik pinjaman;

iii.        mengeluarkan surat arahan bayaran balik (bagi peminjam yang telah tamat tempoh pengeluaran dan patut mula membuat bayaran balik) dan surat-surat peringatan (bagi peminjam yang masih tidak membuat bayaran balik/tidak member maklumbalas);

SOALAN                    :

Puan Nurul Izzah Binti Anwar [ Lembah Pantai-PKR ] Minta PERDANA MENTERI menyatakan dakwaan Laporan Bank Dunia berjudul Malaysia Economic Monitor: Brain Drain bahawa Kerajaan aktif untuk menggerakkan ETP yang berasaskan pelaburan; namun itu begitu giat melaksanakan Model Ekonomi Baru (NEM) yang bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan kebuntuan struktur ekonomi.

Tuan Yang di-Pertua,

i.          Daya saing, standard dan perundangan;

ii.          Peranan kerajaan dalam perniagaan;

iii.         Pembangunan sumber manusia;

iv.         Kewangan sector awam;

v.         Penyampaian sector awam; dan

vi.         Langkah afirmatif/mengurangkan jurang ketaksamaan.

BERSIH 2.0 : Will The Chinese Stay Home?

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 05:59 AM PDT

My preliminary reading is they will. The Chinese will stay at home (or they will go shopping). Like any other big demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur since the 1998 "Reformasi Movement" the Chinese will stay at home despite Kuala Lumpur City being predominantly populated by the Chinese. I can say this rather authoritatively because I have participated in almost all of these demonstrations. I am the actual witness and I saw clearly with my own eyes the ethnic composition of the participants of these demonstrations.

From the first day Anwar Ibrahim was brought to court in September 1998 I was there on the streets waging a running battle (mostly running and not much battle actually) with the FRUs, the CIDs, the SBs and the Light Strike Force. I even went to Kamunting thrice to demonstrate infront of the famous Kem Tahanan Tanpa Bicara. You named it and most probably I was there in the midst of the spirited demonstration crowd.

Anwar judgement day demonstration, Black 14 series of demonstrations, Kesas Highway Perhimpunan 100,000 Rakyat demonstration, Free Judiciary demonstration, Press Freedom demonstration, Free ISA Detainees demonstration, PPSMI Demonstration, BERSIH 2008 Demonstration, HINDRAF Demonstration,  Anti-War series of demonstration, May Day series of demonstration, Anti-ISA series of demonstration, Anti-Privatisation of water demonstration, Anti-Oil Price Hike demonstration, Anti-Price Hike demonstration and some other small scale street demonstration organized by student and youth groups and international issues street demonstrations. There were too many to remember.

From all these demostrations including the most recent two big demonstrations post-March 2008 election i.e. the Anti-ISA Demonstration in August 2009 and the Anti-Privatization of Water Demonstration in December 2010, I almost don't see any Chinese in the crowd. This is not to say that there is no single Chinese soul in the demonstration. There were few of them of course but the number of Chinese participated in all these demonstrations were too low and too small that they almost cannot be seen. And I do not think this coming BERSIH 2.0 demonstration will be any different.

When I say they will stay home what I mean is that the big majority of them as a group will not go down to the street to demonstrate. This is not to say that the Chinese is not supportive of the BERSIH demonstration. Most of them I believed definitely support BERSIH 2.0 and rooting for fair and free elections. No qualms about this. Same with the previous anti-ISA demonstration or anti-privatization of water demonstration. Many of them I believed were supportive of all these demonstrations.

Most of the Chinese will give their support but their support will only be limited in the form of online support or press statement support or coffee shop talk kind of support or attending ceramah and political dinner rally to show their support or support through sending a lot of comments on Malaysiakini website or TheMalaysianInsider website or FreeMalaysia website or Malaysia-Today website. They will also show their support through online polls like the one that StarOnline did on BERSIH 2.0 demonstration, through facebook, twitter as well as statement from Chinese opposition parties leaders.

However when it comes to actually participating in the demonstration, protesting in real space not virtual space, from what I have witnessed in all of the demonstrations that I have actively participated in the past, it seems the Chinese community prefer to stay at home or probably go shopping.

When I said that the Chinese will probably choose to stay home rather then going down to the street demonstrating come this 9th of July, what I mean is that the Chinese as a group not as individuals. You won't see them in big numbers visible as a group for this coming BERSIH 2.0 demonstration. That's my reading which is based on my past experiences participating in all these demonstration.

Of course the individual usual suspect like Tian Chua, Elizabeth Wong, Anthony Loke, PKR's activists from the Chinese section, DAP's activists, NGOs activist and a few of their youth group either from DEMA or KLSCAH Youth Wing, I am pretty sure will participate in the coming BERSIH 2.0.

But the most these few Chinese political and social activists can contribute to the total numbers are rather tiny compared to the tens of thousand of participants promised by the Malay based opposition parties of PAS and PKR.

Infact the Indian participants I believed will be more especially with PSM (Parti Sosialis Malaysia) already promised that they will mobilised their members and grassroots supporters which will be mostly from Indian communities as many as possible. (So far, I still haven't heard any Chinese based political parties or Chinese organizations doing any mobilization efforts).

As for Chinese as a group my reading is that they will be hardly visible in this coming BERSIH 2.0 demonstration on 9th of July 2011. Just like other demonstrations in the past since 1998 reformasi movement (with the exception of Hindraf demonstration), the bulk majority of the demonstrator that will fill the street of Kuala Lumpur City, I would say will still be coming from the Malays despite Kuala Lumpur City being predominantly populated by the Chinese.

The answer to the question on why the Chinese will stay at home (or go shopping) and not participating in this coming 9th of July BERSIH's demonstration cannot be answered now as the date have not yet passed. It can only be answered if on 9th of July 2011 my reading is right.

But I bloody hope that my reading is wrong so that we as Malaysian of different ethnic background can come together at this historic moment of 9th of July 2011 to create a collective memories of solidarity, brotherhood and togetherness in the time of struggle against a repressive, corrupt and unjust regime of Barisan Nasional.

Dalam Durian Ada Durian, Maha Besar Allah!

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 06:38 AM PDT

-SH

Penguin Tersesat Sehingga 3,000 Kilometer

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 05:09 AM PDT

Wellington - Seekor penguin jenis Emperor tersesat tiba-tiba saja muncul di pantai New Zealand.

Menurut Jabatan Konservasi New Zealand (DOC) Peter Simpson, penguin Emperor kelihatan di New Zealand pertama kali tercatat pada tahun 1967 dulu.

One glass, 7 Layers of Tea in Bangladesh beats Sarawak iced 3-layer tea

One Glass, Seven Layers of Tea

By Christopher Shay from WSJ's Scene Asia blog:

Christopher Shay for The Wall Street Journal
Mr. Gour and his layered tea.
Bangladeshis will travel hours to the sleepy town of Srimongol, in Bangladesh's northeast, just for a cup of Romesh Ram Gour's famous tea. In a country of avid tea drinkers, Mr. Gour is the inventor behind a seven-layer tea which, he claims, no one else has been able to replicate. Copycats in the region have succeeded in creating five-layer teas, but none have been able to unlock the secret to Mr. Gour's rainbow brew.
Mr. Gour invented his colorful layered teas 10 years ago, when he was selling tea from a bamboo shack. He says he realized that teas from different leaves have slightly different densities. It took a year of experimenting before he could sell teas with more than two layers. Over the years, he learned to expand to seven.
The kind of layer tea Mr. Gour makes is unique to the Srimongol area. An iced three-layer tea has become popular in the Malaysian state of Sarawak, but those drinks include one type of tea and are typically layered with palm sugar on the bottom, evaporated milk in the middle and tea on the top. What makes Srimongol's special are the discrete layers of tea blends.

Animal NGOs Going In Circles

Pasangan Tanpa Pakaian Dicekup Di Dungun

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 03:59 AM PDT

Dia juga turut disiasat mengikut Seksyen 15(1) Akta Dadah Berbahaya 1952, manakala teman lelakinya dibebaskan polis selepas ujian air kencing mendapati negatif dadah.

Ketua Polis Daerah, Superintendan Dahlan Mohd Noor mengesahkan tangkapan terbabit. -SH

Al-Quran Dibuang Di Pusat Kitar Semula

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 02:08 AM PDT

Dia tinggal seorang diri.

Berlian dahulunya seorang guru.

Kakak Buntat sibuk 'touch-up' banyak lukisan murid2nya.

Murninya hati dia..kelekek ketawa Buntat dibuatnya.

"I did" katanya.."tapi berdegung sangat..macam bunyi gajah berjalan!"..

"Awak ni takder cuti ker..mengalahkan Perdana Menteri", mengeluh mak Buntat.

Setelah beberapa tahun, mak Buntat mengalami masalah kewangan.

Berlian semasa muda memanglah sangat cantik.
Senyuman menawannya menambahkan lagi kejelitaan wajahnya.

Perangainya umpama gadis Melayu zaman dahulu..takut maruah tercemar.

Perhubungan mereka ibarat mancis , mudah menyala.

Marilah kita cuba berbaik2 semula..

p.s. lagi..
Berlian has recently received her form to do a diploma in agama studies..the jarak jauh studies. She smsed Buntat saying that since now she has 24 hours to herself, she might as well take it up..Alhamdulillah.
