The Seasons Of Life

The Seasons Of Life

The Seasons Of Life

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 10:30 AM PDT

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time
to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Just as there are four seasons in some countries, there are also seasons of our lives which we experience at different times, for different reasons.

This is the time when we are young and needful of teaching. Our parents teach us in ways that build our character and we slowly begin to understand ourselves. Slowly but surely, we develop our moral ethics and codes. And as we go to school, educators teach us until the more we study, the more we learn in which ability we are stronger.

SummerAfter we graduate and get a job, we get married and raise a family.

"A time to pluck up" - Harvest times comes in the Autumn of life. We draw on the resources we have 'planted', just as we harvest the vegetables from our garden to be put up for "another day". In the 'autumn' of our journey down the path of life, and the way we have lived, learned, shared, and have been taught will have a bearing on where we spend eternity after the 'winter' of our lives - and on the rewards which each of us hope we have laid up for eternity.

Hold on to that which we have learned, give of it freely to others. We have become more aware of our destiny - a time that each of us has to face.

I am in the winter season of my life now and am still learning many lessons about life, myself, people and am thankful for all I have gone through. I am sure you feel the same way...

If you have the time, please watch this beautiful slide presentation THE SEASONS OF LIFE that Freddie sent to me today. Exquisitely beautiful and touched me deeply. May it touch you too.

Take care and may the Almighty bless you and yours always.

Alam Flora

WASPADA: Jangan Guna Handfon Ketika Petir

Tegur mangsa usah guna telefon

Economist: Do not repeat Middle East error. "High income at high cost?"! ;)

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 08:34 AM PDT

Malaysia, a country with one of the highest income inequality in the region, second only to Papua New Guinea in Asia, should not repeat the mistake made by the Middle East nations in blindly pursuing economic growth, but should also take into consideration income inequality and other social developments, chief economist in Malaysia Rating Corporation Berhad Nor Zahidi Alias advised. Nur Zahidi cited Penang as an example, saying that its inequalities had worsened in past 14 years despite the state having a higher income level.

He also pointed that 70 percent of Malaysian workers earned less than RM1,500 per month, with the percentage being higher in Sabah and Sarawak. He said the cost of living in Malaysia has gone up when the CPI index and food price rose 11 and 22 percent respectively since the civil servants received their last pay hike of 7.5 percent to 35 percent in July 2007 - hence, the pay hike that civil servants received had been only enough to cover the price hike of the last two to three years.

Quotable Quotes by Pilots and Flight Attendants

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 08:20 AM PDT

During the "anyone caught smoking or tampering with a smoke detector in the lavatory will be prosecuted...." spiel, a creative Southwest Airlines attendant added., "Said individual will also be treated to a private screening of "Gone With the Wind.......from the wing"

On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants."

"Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride."

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted."

From a Southwest Airlines employee: "Welcome aboard Southwest Flight XXX to YYY. To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised."

In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child pick your favorite.

Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Southwest Airlines."

"Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and, in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments."

"Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop down from the overhead area. Please place the bag over your own mouth and nose before assisting children ... or other adults acting like children."

"As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses."

And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Delta Airlines is please to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!"

Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing in Salt Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, "That was quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault... it was the asphalt!"

Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!"

Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal."

After a real crusher of a landing in Phoenix, the Flight Attendant came on with "Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Capt. Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we'll open the door and you can pick your way thought thewreckage to the terminal."

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of US Airways."

A plane was taking off from Kennedy Airport. After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude, the captain made an announcement over the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to Flight Number 293, nonstop from New York to Los Angeles. The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax ... OH, MY GOD!"

Silence followed and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I scared you earlier. While I was speaking, the flight attendant brought me a cup of coffee and spilled the hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!" A passenger in coach said, "That's nothing. He should see the back of mine!"

[Video] BONGKAR: Pendedahan Dalang Video Fitnah

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 08:25 AM PDT

Shamsul: Tuduh Datuk T, ulas Anwar

PKR Terbit 'Dokumentari' Jelas Keraguan Video Seks 'Datuk T'

-tvsnews

Pelatih Bomba Wanita Pun Perlu Botakkan Kepala?

Pelatih bomba wanita kecewa kepala dibotakkan

Biometrik, Muslihat SPR Untuk Halalkan PATI Mengundi

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 03:29 AM PDT

Pengerusi Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR), Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Mohd.

-tvsnews

Mahfuz Desak Supaya KSN Dipecat Kerana Berbohong

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 02:17 AM PDT

Pecat KSN', desak MP Pokok Sena

Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan juga berbohong kepada Yang DiPertuan Agong dalam isu Ketua Pegarah Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR).

KUALA LUMPUR: Ketua Setiausaha Negara (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan (gambar) perlu dipecat kerana menyebabkan huru hara dalam perkhidmatan awam.

JKR kini mempunyai dua ketua pengarah berikutan pelantikan Datuk Mohamad Nor Yaakub.

-FMT

Self-centred old farts

Posted: 23 Jun 2011 09:19 PM PDT

Recently, I was moved enough to comment on my facebook that I don't like self-centred old farts. An old friend, Jimmy, then asked what was bugging me! Well, a lot bugs me nowadays. But the instance that I was referring to on facebook referred to the old farters on the OFA Penang mailing list.

Yes, the Old Frees' Association in Penang has a mailing list which was set up not so long ago. I've got well meaning friends who prefer to call us the Old Fuckers Association and now they would also probably call us the Old Farters Association. Doesn't matter to me that they are so jealous of our wonderful acronyms.

However, all these are only mentioned in passing as a "by the way." My original grouse was with the old farters who populate themselves in ANY mailing list (for short, I'm going to refer to this as a mailist from now on).

During my time with, I was one of the administrators of the HR Forum mailists that the company had set up for the human resource communities in Malaysia and the Philippines. These two forums were separately administered and had proven quite popular with the members and participants. And before that, I had already been running mailists mainly for the public chess-malaysia and the private oldfrees7072 groups.

But there were always inherent problems with mailists - all practical problems faced by mailist administrators anywhere - and I'd like to share some of them.

1) People joining mailists for no other reason than to spam the members. My only solution is to ban such people from the mailist. Or, right from the very start, keep the new member's mailist account moderated until he can prove to be a responsible member. The drawback is that when membership increases a lot, it becomes almost impossible to keep track of who's new and who's not. Moreover, I would prefer to take a hands-off approach and not moderate anyone's message. Being responsible for my own actions is bad enough, I shouldn't be responsible for other people's actions too.

2) People talking off the subject, often touching on sensitive issues and provoking flame wars. This needs a deft hand from the administrator to douse the flames as soon as they appear. The problem is that no administrator can afford to spend all his time observing his mailists for wrongdoings. There's life outside the mailists, okay?

3) Members attaching confidential or copyrighted material with their email message. This is also a sticky problem for the administrator. First of all, how would the administrator know that the attachment is confidential or copyright? Second, once the message is sent, it remains sent. There's no feasible way to recall any message. Third, I've long suspected that a mailist host can be held responsible for the wrongdoing as the material has passed through the host server.

4) A well-meaning member who offers to send material directly to other people who could contact him privately but sooner or later, it just takes a kiasu member (he must want everything, see?) who, instead of writing directly to the original member, posts his "please send me a copy" follow-up to the entire mailist. His stupid action is then repeated by other kiasu members and eventually, everyone on the mailist gets inundated with thier "me, too" requests. Seems that there are many people who simply cannot follow simple instructions.

5) And the last big danger is a nightmare to any administrator. When you go on leave, do you set an "out of office" message to reply to in-coming emails? Many people do. However, such messages can be set erroneously to reply automatically to every in-coming email instead of stopping once it's detected that the next in-coming email is from the same source. Because of this mistake, the "out of office" message gets into a never-ending loop and every member's mailbox soon gets flooded with hundreds of messages from this one person before the administrator can ever be alerted to this happening. When I was with, I had to have my friend and co-administrator, Ted, go into the system and kill off the member's idiocy.

The main consequence of all these mailist problems is that there are self-centred old farters who are so full of their own self importance that they'll take any opportunity to scream "take me off the mailing list" directly through the mailist itself and, yes, the message gets distributed again to everyone. So, the rest gets the same idea to scream "unsubscribe me, unsubscribe me" and pretty soon, the administrator is up to his neck trying to overcome the looming threat of a soon-to-be empty mailist. It's not pretty, I tell you!

And recently, this started to happen to the OFA Penang mailist. Someone had erroneously looped his "out of office" reply and two or three old farters demanded to be removed from the mailist. Now, as an old retired mailist administrator myself, even though I was not involved with the OFA Penang mailist administration and will never want to be, thank goodness, I couldn't afford to see this happen and I immediately sent a message imploring some tolerance for the first-time offender and besides, nobody would lose more than the old farts themselves who would be left out of further useful exchanges through the mailist. I believe common sense eventually prevailed.

So you see, Jimmy, that was what's bugging me the other day. I do admit that I'm an Old Fucker and now an Old Fart but never will I be a self-centred one.

Datuk T Didenda RM5,500 Tetapi Anwar Bakal Terperangkap?

Datuk T' mengaku bersalah, didenda RM5,500

Video seks: Bukan lagi mirip Anwar tapi Anwar, kata Datuk T
Oleh Syed Mu'az Syed Putra
June 24, 2011

Kesemua mereka dikawal ketat ketika meninggalkan mahkamah. -TMI

Ulasan GB

Seperti satu wayang sandiwara.

Kita tunggu episod selanjutnya.

BN Must Listen

In Kuantan, we do not want Lynas. That's it!
Say what you like but we the bolder ones are crying out loud.

Many of the rest are too scared to speak out.
They are so afraid that something might happen to their 'periuk nasi'!

For those who can't wait to kick and manhandle those who oppose the set-up of Lynas in Kuantan, we know you're towing the line because of your self-interests at heart.
You guys know the huge risk of Lynas being in Kuantan...but you just don't want to admit it.

Think of our rakyat Kuantan, the rich, the poor folks and our future generations.
Why us?

Ok.. if it's that safe, lets shift the plant to another venue near PutraJaya..KLIA area maybe?
Then we'll believe it's not hazardous at all.

If the BN government think we're speaking from the opposition platform, then they must be really nuts!

I am not joining any solidarity walk or peaceful street demo for I dread being splashed with pepper water or whatever.
I fear the possible repercussion that might erupt from an originally non-violent protest.

Then again, why must our government wait for such an open display of disagreement and chaos?

Maybe I should round up all the housewives in the country and knock some sense into those heads running the country..with our rolling-pins!!

And for now, I still say it again...UNDILAH BN.
Hear hear!!

However, we are totally against any unacceptable, rotten decision likely to be approved!

Inefficient leaders better shape up or be ready to be booted out...
we just want more dynamic and admirable leaders for that too much to ask?

We Umno members are caught in the same net with those who are using the Lynas issue in a political way.
I hope our BN leaders will be intelligent enough to differentiate between the noble and the ruthless intentions.
Please don't lump us together with the opposition team just because we dare to voice out our displeasure.

Najib Razak had a meal with Altantuya but he's still 'innocent' & a free man!

Sex video: Datuk Trio plead guilty and fined
The three individuals behind the sex tape which featured a man resembling Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim were charged in Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court today - three months after they screened the video at a hotel to a group of journalists.

In mitigation before sentencing, defence lawyer Shafee argued that the motive of the accused was "honourable" - to expose the hypocrisy of a leader who at one time was one step away from becoming the prime minister and said the sex video would open him up to be blackmailed by local and international forces.

"This is more important than the issue of the case. The accused have merely committed a minor offence in the bid to expose bigger offence, and perhaps the biggest fraud ever," added Shafee.

ramli yusuff asset declare case 120310 muhammad shafee abdullahShafee, who has prepared 40-page affidavit which detailed Rahim's background and achievements, said that even though there were rumours surrounding the former politician, he was never convicted in a court of law.

Similarly, the court heard that Najib Razak had a meal with Altantuya but he was never convicted in the court of law.

Picture causes ruckus in court

THERE was a heated exchange among lawyers and prosecutors during the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial following a witness' testimony that she had seen a picture of the deceased and Abdul Razak Baginda with a government official.
In the aftermath, a police report was lodged against one of the defence lawyers while the grudge between a veteran counsel and the lead DPP intensified.
It began when Burmaa Oyunchimeg, a cousin of Altantuya, was being re-examined by DPP Manoj Kurup on a contention made by lawyer Wong Kian Kheong on Thursday.

Daily ritual: Abdul Razak waving to his family members as he is escorted to the courthouse yesterday along with C/Insp Azilah and Kpl Sirul Azhar who have always arrived with jackets covering their faces.
The 26-year-old witness was asked why she disagreed with Wong, the counsel for Abdul Razak Baginda, that she did not have personal knowledge of how Altantuya disappeared. Her answer was that she knew Altantuya came here to see "Razak Baginda."
"She only knew Razak Baginda in Malaysia. I knew why she wanted to see Razak Baginda because I've seen a picture of Altantuya, Razak Baginda and a government official."
DPP Manoj immediately stopped her from continuing, and repeated his question.
Burmaa said Altantuya's second cousin Namiraa Gerelmaa and friend Uuriintuya Gal-Ochir had told her about it.
Just before the witness was discharged, lawyer Karpal Singh, who represents the family of the victim and the Mongolian government, asked to pose two questions and clarify the testimony on the "government official."
The moment "government official" was mentioned, lawyer Hazman Ahmad representing C/Insp Azilah Hadri and lead prosecutor DPP Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah stood up almost simultaneously to deny that there was such evidence.
A commotion followed as Hazman and DPP Tun Abd Majid continued to dispute Karpal Singh's observations while Justice Mohd Zaki checked his notes.
In the midst of it, Burmaa put up her right hand and said loudly: "Yes, I said that."
"In Hong Kong ... after Altantuya came back from France, she went to Hong Kong to meet me to show me the picture," she said as the judge replied that he had not noted that part down earlier.
At this point, Hazman and DPP Tun Abd Majid began quarrelling with Karpal Singh over the matter.
After the commotion, Justice Mohd Zaki finally made a ruling that since he had missed the part, Karpal Singh could proceed to ask about the "government official."
Karpal Singh: You said after Altantuya came back from France, she showed you a picture. Can you tell us what the picture was?
Burmaa: There was a picture ... having a meal. A picture of Altantuya having a meal with Razak Baginda and a Malaysian government official and other people.
Karpal Singh: Who was the government official in the photo?
Justice Mohd Zaki: You should ask her whether she knows him or not.
Burmaa: Najib Razak. I remember the name Najib Razak because the name Razak is the same. I thought maybe they were brothers.
Justice Mohd Zaki: What is the relevance of this to the charge?
Hazman: Political basis.
DPP Tun Abd Majid: Irrelevant.
Karpal Singh: The relevance is in the affidavit of the third accused (Abdul Razak), he had mentioned that the ADC of Najib Razak, the police officer ...
Burmaa: (Putting up her right hand to interrupt) The picture was even shown to her (Altantuya's) father.
Karpal Singh: It was the ADC that directed and who helped in the three police personnel going to the house of Razak to take Altantuya away.
DPP Tun Abd Majid: DSP Musa Safri is listed as a witness in our list. You can examine him when he is called to testify later.
Hazman: It's subjudice. The witness (DSP Musa) has not been called yet. This witness (Burmaa) is being coached. If he wants to make allegations, I also can make.
Karpal Singh: There is an allegation of coaching. My Lord, would he withdraw that? This witness has not been coached.
DPP Tun Abd Majid: What is the purpose of watching brief? To safeguard the interest of the victim's family. You are not here to turn this court into a political forum. This is a court of law... The AG (Attorney-General) has given his assurance that we will produce everything in court leaving no stone unturned.
Wong, suddenly stood up to implore all parties including the press to allow his client Abdul Razak to defend against a capital punishment charge through the process of law.
Justice Mohd Zaki: I've been thinking, what is your purpose of watching brief, Mr Karpal?
Karpal Singh: My Lord, it's to make sure everything comes out in the open.
The judge then told the court what he had recorded so far and that he was not allowing Karpal Singh to ask Burmaa any further questions. He then adjourned the court.
After the break, DPP Tun Abd Majid asked if Burmaa's testimony about the picture would form part of the evidence.
The judge replied: "It is part of the record. Unless both sides want to pursue further on the replies?"
When Justice Mohd Zaki saw that no one had stood up, he discharged Burmaa from the stand.
Up to this point, the alleged photograph had not been produced in court.
After the proceedings ended at noon, Burmaa lodged a police report against Hazman over his allegation that she had been coached on how to give evidence in the trial.

Don't worry what people think, they don't do it very often

Lynas not keen to meet international safety standard, Malaysian std suffice

Posted: 23 Jun 2011 09:24 PM PDT

Lynas boss Nicholas Curtis has conceded that his company made the mistake of failing to adequately engage the community in Kuantan over fears of radioactive waste from its controversial rare earth plant, saying, "We made a mistake, and it was a big mistake, of thinking that because we have met the (Malaysian) standards (of safety), that it was enough. It was not enough. Our obligation is to continue to engage the community in Kuantan."

NONEThe Lynas chief's mea culpa came after the emergence of stringent opposition to the RM700 million plant, which is being built in Gebeng Industrial Estate, about 50km from Kuantan and will be completed by the end of September.
