Bersih 2.0: Exposing the "Home Alone" kid

Bersih 2.0: Exposing the "Home Alone" kid

Bersih 2.0: Exposing the "Home Alone" kid

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 11:22 AM PDT

This is the Home Alone tin kosong (empty vessel).

In case you still don't know who he is, Ibrahim Ali is one of Malaysia's independent members of parliament. He heads a racist non-government organisation that calls itself Perkasa. He spews a lot of racist rants under the pretext of championing his race. Under any normal circumstances, he would have already been hauled up for sedition. But our government allows this guy to get away literally with verbal murder. It's all verbal garbage and verbal diarrhea, if you ask me. Unfortunately for him, he has been exposed as a yellow-livered coward.

How pathetic. For all his racist bravados and provocations, this tub of fat (as one of my Muslim friends once described him) was forced to stay at home on 9 July 2011 because his wife did not allow him to go outside and play. But while this Home Alone Kid hid inside his house, he ordered his 15,000 members to go take a walk at the Titiwangsa lake. Instead, I heard that all of 20 of them went for a teh tarik drinking session at a mamak stall. Maybe the rest participated by SMS. How very pathetic. He's finished!

UMNO Masih Kuno Tabur Fitnah Kepada Rakyat

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 10:01 AM PDT

Petikan:

Pemerintahan kuno rejim Najib bersama polis yang lebih kuno menganggap rakyat bodoh wajar ditentang habis-habisan.

Mengapa GB katakan mereka kuno?

Liar Liow Tiong Lai, why do you stoop so low to your Umno master? Wind?!

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 08:54 AM PDT

Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai has claimed that the police did not shoot tear gas and water cannon into the Tung Shin Hospital compound, in the crackdown on last Saturday's Bersih 2.0 rally.

I had dinner in a typical 'Chinaman' coffee shop today. Suddenly, the 'Chinaman' boss was fuming away and I heard him say, 'The wind blew the smoke in the direction towards the hospital?! Ridiculous!'

NOW WATCH THE TRUTH AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF!

Salehuddin & Mahfuz Tidak Akan Lepaskan Polis Yang Menahannya Secara Salah

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 08:42 AM PDT

Kedua-duanya diiringi peguam masing-masing.

"Saya tanya apa alasan saya ditahan.

Tubuh suruhanjaya pembaikan SPR

-HD

Xenophobia, Racial and Religious Discriminations blocking the private doctors’ Postings for the training everywhere

Posted: 23 Jul 2009 05:49 AM PDT

Dr Thet Thet Soe had asked me, "I'd like to know whether there are any postings for clinical. I've passed MRCP Part 1 and want to get on-job-training there. Pl advice me how shall i proceed?"

Dear Dr Thet Thet Soe,

In Malaysia and Singapore, as the members of the ASEAN, which is acting as a club for governments and neglect the citizens, Myanmar Government endorsed doctors only could get official postings to get on-job-training. Other Myanmar citizens need to attend the MSc in Medicine or relevant subjects to get the required, MRCP approved training in Malaysia. Singapore conveniently just ignores the ordinary Myanmar Doctors.

Similar practices are sadly practicing in most of the countries around the world, including the so called 'democratic' and 'free' UK.

Those governments had given various excuses to deny me the required training after I passed the MRCOG Part 1, held in Singapore. Although I had 10 yrs of experience, the MRCOG board recognized it as 2 slots of six months each only.

(According to my Professors and Rectors, may be, they value the Demonstrator posts in Medical University.) MRCOG told me to get another year of training in OG proper. But I could not even get that proper training in Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar.

Nowadays, as UK is under EU, they are freely allowing EU member doctors from poor former East Europe. All the other doctors must get the Immigration approval. In my POV (Point of View) his is also a form of an unfair DISCRIMINATION against other doctors coming from the whole world. This is not MARITOCRACY nor DEMOCRACY but EU CRAZY only.

Even for the Malaysian doctors, who used to enjoy free visa status and easy training or working in UK, I had read the news about UK Immigration, requiring a letter from the Malaysian Ministry of Health that the doctor's service (seeking training in UK) is required by Malaysian Government.

But one of my patient's daughter, Malay doctor, passed the MRCP Part 1&2 simultaneously. She got the required training in Australia after passing Australian exam in KL.

When I got the degree in Dec 1975, it was still recognized by General Medical Council (now changed the name) of UK but later only, after 1981 or 1983, they derecognized the Burmese Degrees.

When I applied for the registration, they illegally backdated the effect of the new law and said that I failed to apply earlier and the registration for Burma is closed. I appealed to them with the legitimate excuse that General Ne Win's Socialist Government never allowed the ordinary citizens and doctors to hold FE (Foreign Exchange) or to legally send the required registration fees of 60.00 pound. They refused to accept and my Medical Defense Insurance Company from Hong Kong (still under British at that time) refused to fight for me. Since then, I stopped paying them the insurance fees because if they even refused to fight for the registration for the doctors, they are useless for me. I even sent a copy of the my MO appointment letter from the Brunei Government requesting me for the GMC registration. They stated that after processing my application, they are satisfied with my qualification and experience but they need the GMC approval.

National University of Singapore advertized in the Malaysian Newspapers offering training for the foreign doctors in O&G who had 5 yrs' working experience in any field. They stated that those who passed the MRCOG Part 1 would be given priority. I applied to them and sent one copy to the PM Mr Lee with the appeal letter, stating that although I was qualified, applying for the training posts meant for the foreigners, NUS would give a flimsy lame excuse that my basic M.B., B.S. from Burma (not changed to new name at that time.) was not recognized by Singapore. I reminded him that Singapore had accepted numerous doctors sent or endorsed by the Myanmar government for the specialized training. PM Mr Lee's secretary replied a letter to me that Mr Lee let the NUS to decide for my application but did not wish to interfere in their work. Later only I knew that those RACIST KAISU Singaporens just want to attract the Malaysian Chinese doctors.

When I got the rejection letter from NUS, I wrote a very strong letter protesting the Singapore's discriminatory policy on even training foreign doctors.

And for the training in Malaysia, this country is also willing to train any doctor/specialist endorsed by Myanmar government. But for the individual doctors wishing to get training, just look at the problems I encountered.

I applied to many Universities but after even could not get an acknowledged receipts for my applications, at last, I accepted the job offer from the Welfare Organization for my survival.

Later, I wrote an appeal letter to the Minister of Education and tried to hand over the application or appeal to the Education Minister. Although I could not see the Ed. Minister because he was away, his secretary sent my application to the Chairman of The University Hospital Governing Board of Directors, under University Malaya. The Chairman sent the letter to the Director of the hospital. The Director replied that the hospital could accept me.

When I went there for enquiry, the Malay Muslim Director was kind hearted and advised me to fill up the formal application forms and sent me to see O&G Professor / Head of Department, a Hindu Indian. He told me that there were 12 slots in the MRCOG recognized training and it was even difficult for the citizen-Indians to get the post. To make it short, I got the job offer but the MMC or Malaysian Medical Council refused to grant me an approval. They stubbornly told me that as they had just approved the three years' extension of the Medical Registration to work with the Welfare Organization. They said that the foreign doctors are not allowed to change work place.

I appealed 9 times with the newspaper cutting of the Malaysian International Trade Minister Ms Rafidah Aziz's promise at the WTO meeting in Australia. She said that according to the WTO agreement, the foreign professionals like doctors and engineers are allowed to change from one work place to another in Malaysia. I appealed to the MMC that she had made that promise to the International body under UN as a representative of the Malaysian Government, PM and Cabinet. They need to honour the promise.

At last, I even wrote a complaint letter to the Deputy Health Minister to instruct the DG under him, who was the MMC Chairman, and even threatened to sue the MMC for my loss of income. Because of MMC's first letter stating that they could not issue another registration, I resigned from my job and the Welfare boss also agreed my resignation and issued a release order for me. After all we do not have any official contract but just extensions with the verbal agreement to continue to work only. After waiting for about 9 months, I had to appeal my old boss, DG of the Welfare Association to accept me to work back for them. The boss was kind enough to accept me back.

After waiting or wasting the three years to expire the MMC registration, I went back to UH. The job offer was expired and I was told that if I want the official training post for MRCOG, I have to attend the Masters in Obs & Gynae offered by UM. As I had passed the MRCOG Part 1, they would give exemption to me for the MSc Part 1 exam. I agreed but need to go through the application process for both positions. MSc entrance was decided by UM board and Medical Officer Post approval had to go to the PSD/MMC/Immigration. (PSD = Public Service Department)

But the CATCH 22 was, to practice while studying, I need a MMC Registration. So after getting the 4 yrs MMC Registration to study, MMC refused to give a green light to work, using the same old LAME EXCUSE that the foreigners could not be issued 2 MMC Registrations.

I decided to continue the training but the Head of the Department ordered that I was exempted from examination only but need to go and work in A&E and Surgery Departments as a first year trainee. I do not need those 2 slots as I had even got the approval for those two slots from MRCOG UK. I fed up with the process and refused to even attend the MSc. I never appeal to MMC as it may fall on deaf ears but the UH authorities were kind enough and appealed for me and I got the approval one year later.

So I went through those two training slots for one year. I got the taste of the busy, overworked and underpaid MOs. I had to leave the house before 6.00 AM, arrived home after 10 PM. Even need to go to hospital on Sundays and all the holidays. Need to take 24+12 hr duty for 8-10 times per month, including Saturdays or Sundays. The worse part is, we have to do Sunday on-duty, no off  day given on Monday.

So once I got PR, (called Red IC which is equivalent to the Green Card) I withdrew from MSc course and applied to transfer to the Accident and Emergency Department, where the job was tougher, more demanding but need to only work in 8 hrs shifts. There I could work as a locum doctor moonlighting in private practice.

I had to sacrifice my carrier because the salary for MO was too low and they refused to give quarters and refused to accept our children in the University I was working. How could we effort to send our children to the very expensive private universities when we are denied any form supports from the government like the locals. And we need to even pay more than the persons who were supported with all kind of help using our tax money. Even after we got the PR, we need to pay more.

Later, there was a new ruling allowing the foreign doctors to work and study if they got the MO posts first and applied for Post graduate training later. But nowadays, MMC practice a Xenophobic practice and strictly refused the foreign doctors to get a paid job while undergoing a training until and unless he had got the PR.

You may think I was bad mouthing all the countries and never tried in my own country. Although I was qualified to attend any Master Course as I got all round 4s, that was near dictinction marks in all the subjects, according to the Universities' Act. That was even pointed out at the Parliament Science and Education Committee meeting by our late Rector MP Prof U Tun Thin. He told us that he had even mentioned the present Medical University Rector Prof U Than Win and my name as an example. According to the University Act, after one year training under a consultant the student who got 5 in that subject or who got 4 in all the subjects are exempted from sitting the MSC qualifying examinations.

Although I got the top marks in the written examinations for Masters Entrance exams in Burma under Ne Win's government, they failed me for 4 times. At last DG U Shwe Tin told that even if I were a Chinese, they could accept me but as a Muslim, he labelled me with a RACIST word Kala and refused to accept for post graduate course. Thank God, the present leaders are much better than RACIST Ne Win's apartheid government and accepting Muslims.

I was the student of the O&G Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe. She had done Hysterectomy on my mother and had taken care of my wife's AN cares during our two children. Her husband was the Health Minister and she was closed to the former PM General Khin Nyunt's wife while working with the Women and Children NGO. During her visits to KL, Myanmar Embassy was usually busy with other General/Ministers visits. We were requested by the HE Ambassadors to help her during the visits. So later she would call the Myanmar Embassy to inform her visits to us in advance.

She knew about my plight of badly requiring the training and volunteer to help. She even kindly requested my letter giving her authority to arrange my training in Myanmar. I even informed her that I am willing to work as a volunteer but if MRCOG board wish to recognize the salaried staff, I could work with the salary of 300 Kyats per month for at least a year. That was equivalent to only RM 1.00 or 0.30 cents in US a month,  the amount they pay for the voluntary House Surgeons.

But the lower ranking officers in Ministry of Health and DGME refused to accept me by giving the lame excuse to the Minister that I had left the country by kicking off? Actually although I left because of the unfair racial discriminations and denying me the post graduate studies locally, I dare not open my mouth because of scare of denying the Education clearance and Passport.

So I think the best for you is to get at least one year training under a consultant and ask that consultant to write a letter of recommendation and to contact his/her friends Physicians in UK to arrange for your training job. May be you get the Myanmar MSc first or if possible five years' experience. Malaysia usually needs five years experience after graduation even to appoint as a MO.

If you are financially secure to spend and stay in KL without income and could pay for the fees, it is very easy to get into the MSc course  as there is no much discrimination on race and religion even on foreigners.

Kaki Mat Sabu Perlu Dibedah Dan Dimasukkan Besi Jumaat Ini

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 07:27 AM PDT

Mat Sabu: Polis dah macam gangster

" katanya.

Sikap kerajaan BN, katanya, amat berbeza berbanding Pakatan Rakyat dan kebangkitan rakyat menerima keberanian mereka menyertai perhimpunan itu jelas menunjukkan kerajaan BN semakin menuju kehancuran. -HD

Purported anti-Bersih script surfaces online by Yow Hong Chieh July 11, 2011

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 05:54 AM PDT

The media were to highlight that the Bersih assembly was illegal. — file pic
KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Popular website Malaysia Today today leaked what appears to be a letter from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) with guidelines on how to demonise Bersih in the run-up to last Saturday's rally.

The letter, ostensibly issued on June 17 and signed by national communications head Jalil Hamid, said such treatment was necessary because the rally "will certainly go beyond issues of fair and free elections" to inflation, Teoh Beng Hock and even the controversial Lynas plant.

Attempts by The Malaysian Insider to contact Jalil and other senior press officers of the prime minister's department were unsuccessful.

"The protest, if not countered, could undermine the government, the economy and national security. This note sets out the policy guidance and the do's and don'ts in managing the issue," the guideline released by Malaysia Today this morning read.

In the guidance note, it states it was written up following an Umno political bureau meeting to discuss Bersih and was also circulated to bureau members, the letter said.

In it, the PMO reminded media outlets to discredit Bersih and its leaders as "a group of politicians and politically-inclined individuals who lack credibility" and to stress that the rally was an "illegal assembly".

Bersih was also to be painted as a front for the opposition or foreign agents as well as an attempt by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to find an undemocratic and unconstitutional "shortcut to Putrajaya".

Usual "attack dogs" like Ibrahim were to be shunned in favour of newer faces. — file pic
Media were told to highlight stories of how businesses, tourists and ordinary people would be affected; question Bersih's funding; target Anwar, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and "budak suruhan DSAI and tali barut DAP" (Anwar and DAP's lackey) Mohamad Sabu; and use file photos of Ambiga with opposition leaders to highlight their close association.

The press were also instructed to use fewer old faces like Datuk Zulkifli Nordin and Datuk Ibrahim Ali as "attack dogs" in favour of fresh Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth leaders and non-governmental organisations; mobilise friendly bloggers; and play up images of ugly street demonstrations in other countries.

The do's and don'ts detailed were:

* [The home minister, Inspector-General of Police, Deputy Inspector-General] and Internal Security and Public Order Director are to brief media editors at KDN (Home Ministry). The meeting was to reinforce the branding as "perhimpunan haram" (illegal assembly), and that Bersih is an unlawful organisation and the perpetrators are out to create chaos.

* KDN, which has jurisdiction over all print media, needs to exert its authority in ensuring the press toe the line.

* Confine politicians to just making political statements. Let the police do their job.

* PDRM can start calling up Bersih organisers based on the hundreds of police reports lodged so far.

* Encourage the use of third party validators.

* Pre-empt chaos and disorder (fear paradigm). The "show of force" by Umno or silat groups well before July 9 may be imperative to deter demonstrators.

* The soundbytes in our favour MUST come from across the country and across the ethnic lines. The soundbytes should not just be confined to the Malays or those residing in the Klang Valley.

* We must not allow the rally to be exploited by international elements.

* As a pre-emptive measure, the authorities should stop the launch of Perhimpunan Bersih 2.0 scheduled for June 19 at the Chinese Assembly Hall. Likewise, a related Perkasa event called "Lawan Perhimpunan Bersih" at the Sultan Sulaiman Club on the same day should also be halted.

* [EC] should counter Bersih demands for free and fair elections by highlighting the various initiatives it has undertaken so far. Use the highly successful Sarawak PRN as its model. It should not meet up with Bersih people.

The letter said the goal of the exercise was to neutralise opposition noise, reinforce the view that public sentiment is not with Bersih and the opposition, send a strong message that the government is in full control of the situation and avoid adverse impact on investor confidence in Malaysia.

Bersih claimed a turnout of 50,000 for Saturday's street demonstration, which went ahead without police permission after protracted negotiation with the authorities.

The coalition of 62 NGOs took to the streets despite previously accepting Najib's offer to move the street rally to a stadium, after the government refused to allow the gathering to take place in Stadium Merdeka. Malaysian Insider.

Media lies and who really disrupted KL businesses by Gursharan Singh Jul 11, 11 3:47pm

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 05:58 AM PDT

During the Bersih rally on July 9 three groups of security forces gathering in Kuaka Lumpur were noted. All three together with the police security measures, that can be said to have contributed to the traffic disruptions, inconvenience to public and losses to businesses on that day.

However, TV and other mainstream media with BN politicians and those aligned to them, continue to report that the group responsible for the disruptions, inconveniences and losses in KL on was Bersih 2.0 comprising over 60 NGOs whose members include many distinguished citizens who are titled persons, professionals and other leaders including political leaders from PKR, PAS and DAP.

The government-controlled TV stations' newscasters, and those responsible for the news content, seem to have selective observation faculties and memory, possibly due to orders from higher-ups.

The other two groups involved that day, the 'Patriot' headed by Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Perkasa that is perceived to be aligned to Umno were equally responsible for the disruptions to the city, with thousands of their supporters who had gathered near Maybank/Puduraya/Bukit Bintang areas.

Also those on the streets were mostly ordinary Malaysians, many of whom were Malays. So to refer to the Bersih 2.0 group as 'opposition' in the news is misinformation.

The newscasters also failed to clarify as to under what category Patriot and Perkasa members fell under. If the media refer to Bersih supporters as 'opposition' then these two should rightfully be referred to as 'government'.

RTM should provide balanced views and be impartial to politics. Maybe this partiality is responsible for the viewers having little confidence in the truth of their news and has sent the rakyat to the cybermedia in search of the truth. Malaysiakini

Bishop's place in Najib's team to Vatican unseemly by Terence Netto Jul 11, 11 8:43am

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 06:07 AM PDT

Yes, I am a Catholic, we should actually write to the Holy See, to tell them that Bishop Murphy Pakiam is playing politics, bending over backwards to paint brush away, the plight of the people in Malaysia. Remember last year's Christmas celebrations. Not forgetting the Bible issue.

COMMENT In the wake of grave developments on the political front, the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur Murphy Pakiam must give serious thought to the propriety of his being part of the delegation that will be led by Prime Minister Najib Razak for a visit to Pope Benedict XVI on July 18.

endon funeral 201005 murphy pakiamPolitical developments in the country, especially in connection with the controversial Bersih march, affect the credibility of the Najib administration in ways the Catholic community cannot be indifferent to.

Hence the titular head of Catholics in the archdiocese of KL, the biggest in the country, cannot remain unconcerned about these developments, not only because of their weightiness but also for their connection to matters of deep concern to practitioners of the faith.

The PM's call on Pope Benedict at the latter's summer residence outside Rome has been reported as foreshadowing the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Vatican and Malaysia.

pope benedict visit palestine israel 110509 04But sources say the visit has more to do with Pope Benedict's desire to promote Christian-Muslim dialogue than with the setting up of diplomatic ties.

It appears the PM's Department would like to put the most favourable spin on the visit - as presaging the establishment of ties.

With a general election on the cards, it is said that news of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Vatican would draw good vibes from the nation's 850,000 Catholics, a community whose political awareness makes it highly sensitive to the delicacy of its position in a Muslim-dominant nation.

Malaysia has about 2.2 million Christians in a population of 28 million. The Catholic composition of this sector is large, not just by dint of number but by its heft in the educational and care-giving sectors, two areas of traditional concern to the faithful.

Malaysia is one of 17 countries in the world that does not have diplomatic ties with the Vatican. Sources say the establishment of such ties entails a more involved process than just a visit from one head of state to another could accomplish.

The demonisation of Ambiga

But the Najib administration, with an eye to the photo opportunity that a call on the Pope would entail, albeit in connection with Christian-Muslim dialogue and not the establishment of diplomatic relations, may want the highest placed Catholic cleric in Malaysia in the picture, presumably for the impact it would have on Malaysian Catholics.

That impact would be favourable had it not been for the kind of duplicity that has come to characterise the administration in matters to do with Muslim-Christian relations in Malaysia.

NONEFor example, in Kota Baru several days ago, the PM, at a gathering estimated at 20,000, described Ambiga Sreenevasan, chairperson of Bersih, the pressure group for electoral reform, as "anti-Islam" for the watching brief she held as the then president of the Bar Council in the Lina Joy case a few years ago.

Lina Joy was a Muslim who converted to Catholicism before marrying a member of the faith. She filed a case against the Registration Department for maintaining that her religious confession in her MyKad be marked as Muslim when she had converted out of the religion.

She lost the landmark case at every stage of its adjudication in the courts in what many felt was a violation of the freedom of religion guarantees in the Federal Constitution.

Najib's tagging of Ambiga as "anti-Islam" was an astonishing misconstruction of her professional role as legal counsel in the Lina Joy case. But this is precisely the kind of distortion that has come to mark the PM's deportment in matters of grave concern.

Pope Benedict has made the defense of freedom of religion a foundational plank of his papacy. He is certain to look askance at a leader who has little or no grasp of professional legal norms, let alone constitutional ones.

Crackdown on Bersih

In connection with the controversy-ridden Bersih 'March for Democracy', the PM's conduct was equally questionable.

The pressure group had wanted to hold a street march. But, in deference to the king who intervened to head off a confrontation between what would have been rival marchers from Bersih and other strident bodies, Bersih opted to hold a rally in the Stadium Merdeka.

Bersih's right to hold a street rally was affirmed by the Malaysian Consultative Congress of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism, of which Archbishop Pakiam is a member of repute.

Initially, Najib was on record as saying that Bersih would be allowed to hold a stadium rally but he later denied this. Flummoxed, Bersih went ahead and insisted on their right to hold their rally at Stadium Merdeka. This led to a situation where a ham-fisted police force came down hard on Bersih supporters, detaining several political activists even before the rally planned for July 9.

A few days before the Bersih gathering, the PM, speaking to a gathering of silat groups, made strident allusions to Bersih, holding forth in tones that held eerie echoes of his deportment at a another rally, nearly a quarter century earlier, when he led an inflammatory Umno Youth demonstration in a stadium in Kuala Lumpur that heightened racial tensions in that fraught time.

Archbishop Pakiam does not need lessons in moral theology to know that licentious conduct, if not repented, begets the same.

archbishop murphy pakiam and pm najib razakThe PM may have whispered into Pakiam's ears in an unctuous chat about his early days in a Catholic school at an Open House hosted by the Archbishop on Christmas Day, a function that later became controversial because of untoward arrangements requested by a flunkey from the PM's Department.

But if education in a Catholic school has any meaning, it is for its emphasis on value-formation.

From the start of his papacy in 2005, Pope Benedict has demonstrated in speeches and encyclicals that few moral theologians are his equal in the cogency of his arguments for the link between Christian values and universal values.

To a leader of the Pope's intellectual mettle, it would be an embarrassment for Pakiam to play the role of equerry on behalf of one who needs to do some serious thinking about universal values, the promotion of which is the aim of Benedict's push for dialogue between Muslims and Christians.

Tembakan Ke Hospital: Hishamuddin Dan Polis Usah Berdalih Lagi. Ini Buktinya!

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 06:00 AM PDT

-MR

What An Irony!

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:37 AM PDT

Recently, a very prominent leader gave a speech at an international meeting. According to THIS SITE, he said:

We need to hear the concerted voices from moderates in all countries and from all walks of life. And when we do, the prize of peace is there for all to see.

10. But while one man standing in the road is a nuisance, a mere distraction, ten men standing together are far harder to ignore.
And if those ten become a hundred, a thousand, a million, a billion even, they become a force so big, so strong and so united in their common cause that those who espouse hatred will face a very simple choice.
They can join us, or they can remain where they are and be crushed by the force of our collective will.

11. So it is for people who cherish moderation, dignity and justice everywhere to stand firm, and stand proud, to dissipate the pull of terror and to deny those at the margins a foothold in the middle ground - ensuring that frustrations, wherever they are felt, are heeded and that voices, wherever they speak out, are heard.
Do you know who said those words?

Make a guess!

If you do not know, CLICK HERE to see the whole speech.

And all that was spoken before July 9th, 2011.

The people have spoken. Loudly. Clearly. In a united chorus!

Let's hope he walks the talk now and listens to the frustrations of the people.

Indeed, in the twinkling of an eye, ten became "a hundred, a thousand, a million, a billion even, they become a force so big, so strong and so united in their common cause that those who espouse hatred will face a very simple choice.

Who are trembling and shivering now that so many have spoken?

Will he listen to the rakyat?

Or in his own words, "will they remain where they are and be crushed by the force of our collective will?"

Only he can answer that! But will he?

Dr. Myo Kyi Tha continued (in other posting) :  Though he is Saya of our Sayas, he always listen to us and answer our questions. When I was sometimes harsh at rounds when there were some
disagreements between us, he privately told me how to argue professionally. As I can remember, he nev…er blamed me.
I was lucky to have him as a teacher and a senior. Some of his students follow his way and treat us fairly.
To be honest, I was lucky to have such nice seniors. (I don't mean all of my
seniors.)
My Comment: I still remember one incident. I was just a 3rd MB Studentin Medical Unit.Prof. DMMK asked a question why Total and Diff WBC count was done on a Hepatitis pt. She asked the House Surgeons, Part 2 block and Part 2, Part 1. When no one dared to answer, (may be some of them knew but dare not speak up in front of her) she looked at us, 3rd MB students and (pre)remarked that we were also useless as our seniors and would not be able to answer her question.

I am very lucky, the night before only I had read the De' Gruchi's Clinical Hematology in Medical Practice, at the foot note there was written about that.

I started to answer, "In De' Gruchi's it is written that if leucopaenia, it shows the virus infection…" Before I finished answering Professor DMMK shouted at me with the very loud voice, " ကိုကိုႀကီး ၾကည့္ေန နင္လုိေကာင္မ်ိဳးက စာေမးပြဲက်မႇာ… you used to read up to the unnecessary minor details in
foot notes, if you continue to read and answer like this, you will fail in the
examinations. You need to present properly like this, "Causes of leucocytosis
first….than only Leucopoenia."

I felt very sad and angry with her attitude towards me.  Although she could not break my mind or determination at that time, later only could change my ambition and abandoned the dream of becoming a Physician.

When the son of her friend, Head of Microbiology, from our junior class, answered wrongly, she said softly with kind words, "As a distinction Candidate should not answer like but give a better presentation, if you answer like this…it is better." Actually she corrected his wrong answer in front of all of us.

Why? Cronyism? Skin colour? Religion? Family background?

Note: Even at 3rd. MB she knew me well. 5 times LYC (living in the same town, Mandalay.) IMM LYC 3 times and on the 3rd. time she did not agree
with my answer but I could attract the other examiners by arguing with her. 1st MB Jr & Sr 10 Grade 5 and 1 Grade 4. 2nd MB Anatomy Gr 5 Physio
she was my ext examiner in Distinction Viva. She had a heart to tell," " ကိုကိုႀကီး ၾကည့္ေန နင္လုိေကာင္မ်ိဳးက စာေမးပြဲက်မႇာ" although I had given the right answer, in front of my seniors, HSs (HOs), Assistant Surgeons (MOs), ALs and patients.

She was declaring her friend's son, in 3rd MB Jr (in that yr, our Jr class was rushed to reduced the teaching period and pushed up together with our class.) is a Distinction Candidate?

Iheard that Dr. Shwe Nyan (Rakhine/Buddhist, younger brother of Dr. Min Nyan, Anatomy Dpt., who was denied PASSING Medicine MSc entrance) was also neglected by UMMS. After he became senior experienced dr in his ward only, UMMS declared that…, "this time I will choose you in the Surgical enterance exam", PROUD SHWE NYAN refused to sit the exam and requested to transfer to MOH. I heard that once MSc Surgeon complained to the superiors that Dr Shwe Nyan was operating all kind of diseases
without a specialist degree! The superior officer laughed at him and told him
that it was up to DrSN, if he had ability, let him do…..

Tindakan Tidak Bertamadun Polis, PAS Desak KPN & Timbalan Letak Jawatan

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 04:38 AM PDT

-hd

Bersih 2.0: The Najib regime blew three chances at redeeming themselves

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 01:50 AM PDT

Murphy's Law was probably thought up with the Najib regime in mind. In my opinion, the Najib regime had three chances to come out honourably from the Bersih 2.0 rally but they fucked everything up.

The first was when Bersih 2.0 invited all parties to walk with them to demand for clean and fair elections. I see nothing wrong with that. It was an open invitation to both the ruling party and the opposition parties. The Najib regime could have declared that yes, they were also for clean and fair elections and yes, let us work with you to improve on the electoral process. That way, they could have been seen as above board and they wouldn't be viewed with the deep suspicion as now.

Like I mentioned earlier, there can not be two ways about it. You either support the Bersih 2.0 cause for clean and fair elections, or you do not. By demonising Bersih 2.0, my only conclusion is that the Najib regime is not bersih (clean) and can only be kotor (dirty). Who can blame me for believing this? So the Najib regime failed in this respect and they should not blame the Opposition for supporting this cause. Najib, you had your first chance and you blew it!

The second was when Najib offered Bersih 2.0 the use of a stadium for their rally, instead of walking through the streets. Initially, I had thought that this was a magnaminous offer, an olive branch, a compromise made after the request by the Agong to avoid using the roads of Kuala Lumpur. But what happened after that? The Najib regime went back on their words. No use of any stadium in Kuala Lumpur, they demanded. Looking back, this smacked of insincerity, a plot to throw Bersih 2.0's plans into disarray. The regime could have regained some goodwill by opening up the Stadium Merdeka for this purpose. But they didn't. Najib, you had your second chance and you blew it!

There was still a third chance at redemption. Now, knowing jolly well that Bersih 2.0 was proceeding with their plans, the Najib regime brought in 7,000 policemen to shut down the Kuala Lumpur city centre. On the day of the rally, the policemen appeared in battle gear, all ready to confront unarmed citizens who only wanted to walk for clean and fair elections.

Now, if the Najib regime still had their brains with them, they would have used this opportunity to direct the policemen not to confront the people with chemical-laced water cannons or tear gas cannisters or shields and batons but be ambassadors for the government by ensuring that the walk to the Stadium Merdeka would be smooth. So what if the doors into the stadium remained shut. The whole objective was to walk to the stadium anyway. And if the policemen on duty can marshall the people along without incident - be a friend rather than an enemy - a lot of the tension would have been dissipated. Najib, you had your third chance and you blew it!
