ISA repealed?

ISA repealed?

ISA repealed?

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 11:59 AM PDT

so it seems. our dear PM's malaysia day present for us?

well, in his malaysia day's speech, that was what he announced… but wait, don't get your hope high yet. we all know this will be sort of an election bait, don't we? and it's very hard to tell if he is sincere or not. oh well, maybe sincere in repealing ISA but then read between the lines, please.

The prime minister said that new laws will be enacted to protect the peace, harmony and security of the country.

huh? one out, one in… what's the point? isn't ISA, a law to protect the peace, harmony and security of the country? anyway, he said that the new law to be introduced for preventive detention will be limited to cases of terrorism. oh really kah? but then again it would be terrorism as define by umno!

see, here says

Najib said that under the new laws, detentions could only be extended by the court and therefore "the power of detention will be shifted from the executive to the judiciary, unless it concerns terrorism."

"unless it concerns terrorism". i thought the new law is already for terrorism. so if it is not concerning terrorism, what will it be? who knows it might be the same thing as what people had been detained for under ISA! najib should name this law the 'anti terrorism act' and really use it for terrorism only.

(to be continued)

btw, HAPPY MALAYSIA DAY TO ALL!

Raya at Home & Selamat Hari Malaysia

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 09:47 AM PDT

I am typing this in my hotel room in Keningau, Sabah. I reached here today 15 September and will come back home to Kinrara on 2o September.  I love Sabah very much! If you have read this blog before, you'd probably know I have been here many times but this time around I am on duty. So automatically I feel very lost, home sick and missing the boys at home very much.

Family and friends in the Peninsular is probably beraya sakan right now but I am working la pulak! Darn.. But I don't feel that bad coz I have hosted some friends over last weekend. Since we're not having an open house this year, the food served was not so much and the people who came also not so many lah! Just 10 families only.. Erkk tak banyak ke 10 families?

On second day of raya recently, my aunt, Cik Pura served her special Mee Kari recipe to us at her house in Taiping. It was Azman's first time trying it and he loves it so much that I gotta learn how to cook that stuff. FYI I am not a noodle person, I am hardcore nasik lover but takpelah demi suami terchenta…

The Mi Kari is rather different than most of you probably have eaten, this one is curry powder and tomato based, laced with bunga kantan (ginger shoot) and daun kesum ( leaf of  erkkk.. ok I dunno what Mat Salleh calls daun kesum LOL). I put a whole lot of chicken, kerang, fish cakes and fish balls in the soup and served it with blanched yellow noodles, blanched sawi, taugeh, fresh tomatoes, lime and more fish balls and cakes.

Food!

Chillies for spicier taste

On top of the noodles, I also made my favourite chicken rendang served with ready made lemang, rojak buah, cut watermelons.

Above is Kak Iena, she is mad about lemang and rendang. All these food was served at 5pm but everybody was busy watching TV, playing with the kids etc until Kak Iena started to devour the lemang sampai ditinggalkannya laki dia kat luar! LOL lawak giler…

After that baru the rest sibuk nak  makan. Perhatikan gaya Nize mengambil mee kuning! bergaya bukan?

At far back, in the black tudung is my beloved friend Ejam Aris. She is so nice and helped me wash dishes, sort out cutleries etc etc tapi pompuan ni kalau dia kerja maid memang dia dah kena seterika di merata-rata bahagian badan termasuk organ dalaman la aku rasa.Sebab dia sedikit potpetpotpet! But I lap her… muah muah Ejam Aris and Dhea sekali!

Ada sorang mamat ni pulak orang datang beraya umah dia sibuk pakai baju gambar katun penyu. Laki sapa tatau? Dasyat betul bini dia tak gosokkan baju ekk?

Kak Iena ngap ngap!

These are my pretty ladies! Love all of them very much! Thanks for coming, thanks for helping out. Harap maklum I don't have any maid or mom or helper, just Azman and Miki..

Standing : Yasmin. Sitting from left, Atie, Kak Iena and Ejam. Actually I'm kinda sad that I didnt take so many pics. No photos of Rohaiza's family, Abul's family, Anita's, Nannoor's, Diyana Yang's family (eh tu nama aku) etc etc etc.. Sorry! it is my loss.

Despite the lack of pics, I was happy that day because my too-big-for-the-three-of-us house was bustling with laughter and full of people! Coincidently these 4 young girls who live in our neighbourhood came to "beraya". I invited them in sonce I already have food and drinks to serve and they stayed from 5 to Maghrib time!

Miki was super happy to get to play with them, he showed them our new baby rabbits and they were playing with the furry cuties sampai kena kencing rabbit LOL! I was so busy in the kitchen/dining area, I almost forgot about these girls until the 4 of them, Miki and Irfan (Atie's son ) was running in and out of the house, playing kejar-kejar. So meriah and Kak Iena asked who are their parents, then only I realized, "Eh… Entahla Kak Iena, aku pun taktau anak sapa tah main lari-lari dalam rumah ni!" Haha… Don't worry dik, no kidnappers or serial killers in this house cuma ada bujang available je nama N***.. Opps,, hehehe

Miki and trhe girls at the rabbit cage

Miki and the girls at the yard

I kesian these two guys who went back without second helpings. Lain kali datang lagi OK? Aku masak lain untuk korang. Can't help it coz all the food habis licin.. Tapi takde la sampai nak makan rojak buah kena share sepinggan kan? Ingat aku takde pinggan ke? Buat manja-manja lak duk rapat2.. ehh tak sesuai! hehehe

Laki sapa tengah amok ni?

Lepas amok terus syahdu peluk pintu! Thanks for coming Apai!

At night more families came but like I said I took no pics of them. I thank again to everyone who came and hope you've enjoyed the food. Hope to beraya again but gotta wait until i come back from Negeri Di Bawah Bayu.

Enjoy you long weekend everyone! Selamat Hari Malaysia…

ISA Dihapuskan. Rakyat Jangan Cepat Melompat.

Akhirnya Najib akui demokrasi negara pincang

-HD

Najib: ISA dimansuh, tiga proklamasi darurat dibatal

Response to DS Najib’s announcement

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 09:52 AM PDT

Alhamdulillah, I welcome the announcement by the Prime Minister regarding his plans to repeal of the Internal Security Act, to review the Printing Presses and Publications Act, and to move a motion in Parliament to revoke the declarations of Emergency that still exist to this day, despite Malaysia celebrating its 48th year as a nation.

Even so, as all plans to change the laws of this country must first be brought to and passed in both Houses of Parliament, I urge all Malaysians to exercise a good deal of caution until these proposed changes actually come to pass.

Furthermore, we must work to ensure that whatever laws replace the function of the ISA, for instance, does not turn out to be as deviously draconian, if not more.

While this is a victory for all Malaysians, it is important we acknowledge that the victory is not complete. Reforms to our electoral system, our judiciary, in the police force, in basic governance and many other aspects of Malaysian life must continue. In fact, the Najib administration cannot but speed up these reforms. Take note of the following, among others:

  1. Dato' Seri Najib must swiftly embrace the eight demands of Bersih 2.0 in ensuring that the upcoming 13th General Election will be a truly free and fair affair;
  2. he must commit to the setting up of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) that has until today been swept under the carpet;
  3. the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the VK Lingam case must be realized and effected;
  4. to dismantle the Umnoputra-centric "piracy" of the Malaysian economy; and others.

Therefore there are no laurels for us tonight, really.

There is much work that needs to be done, and all sides must stay true to the cause of reforming and correcting all the mismanagements and misrule of this country.

All sides must work together, regardless of political leanings or ideologies, to ensure that this country we call our home will remain the home of our children, their children, and their children's children.

All sides must work together for a better Malaysia.

Bagaimana Dengan Kenyataan Khalid Abu Bakar Menuduh Aminul-Rasyid Seorang Penjenayah?

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 09:00 AM PDT

," kata Surendran selaku peguam mewakili keluarga Aminulrasyid.

Dismantling the ISA - A way to remember Najib...

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 07:43 AM PDT

The Internal Security Act (ISA) 1960 will be abolished and two new laws will be introduced to safeguard peace and order, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today (here).

The government would also repeal the Banishment Act 1959 and reviewing other laws to be in line with current needs while a comprehensive study will be carried out on the Restricted Residence Act 1993 and the Printing Presses and Publication Act 1984 where annual renewals would be done away with, and replaced with issuance of licence until it is revoked.

Perhaps by dismantling the 'draconian and unjust ISA' (a reference by the Opposition and foreign governments who hail US-style of pre-emptive law which allows detention without trial at Guantanamo Bay), Najib would forever be remembered in Malaysia's history as the man who went that 'extra mile' despite dissent within party, politics, power and policy circles, to get rid of a legislation unfit for a civilised society and country like Malaysia (here).

Our PM will certainly then add a new dimension and stature to his position and win the accolades from all sides of the political divide, including the Opposition. But will this decision get to the Opposition's satisfaction?

I am not sure how others - the rakyat, politicians, the media and bloggers - would react to this but I have my own standpoint.

While supporting the dismantling of the ISA - and while waiting for the new two set of laws being introduced - the government, via the Home Ministry, should hold key grips on some elements of the ISA, especially with regards to religion and race.

I am totally against a 'free country' where freedom of speech and freedom of the Press would be used as vehicles by certain quarters to incite disharmony among our multiracial community and to challenge the authorities (esp the police and army) if the alternative laws contain more loopholes.

I remember that amendments to the ISA were supposed to be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat earlier this year but was postponed, not realising there was already an agenda to abolish the whole system. However, the announcement today fell short of a government guarantee that while the replacement laws will be suffice enough to maintain law and order in the country, the 'transition period' prior to its introduction will also be put under tight surveillance.

As our politics are under heavy influence from recent international events, we should forget that our multiracial politics differ much from that in the West or the Middle East. Our politics is not as easy to handle as that in the one-race country.

The Opposition will look out for flaws in the dismantling of ISA although they were the ones who wanted it. And now that they do not have any more quests, their attention would be focused on the new laws to be introduced.

And let us imagine Malaysia without ISA or similar laws. A free country? I don't think so. A free country will expose our citizens to a more marginalised social structure in the sense that no action could be taken against those who make disparaging remarks that belittles each others' race, religion and color.

And since our politicians are fond of riding on such sentiments, things could get even worse than before.

So, there are pros and cons to the disbanding of the ISA. Just like the disbanding of the English medium school in the late 1970s, we may take many years from now on to realise that there is a need to uphold such a system... and going back to where we had started.

Personally, I do not agree with some provisions of the ISA but some are still very much suitable in our Malaysian context.

And I also wonder what will be the function of the Home Ministry. Will the PM abolish the portfolio as well or change its name, say... to Ministry of Immigration (like Australia and some Commonwealth nations)?

Whatever it is, everything is up to the premier. Its his prerogative rights!

Noh Omar Gelabah Mengenai Konspirasi Penjarakan Khir Toyo

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 07:28 AM PDT

Konspirasi tumbangkan Dr Khir: Noh 'tak tahu menahu'

Gigil tak bila GB kata kena masuk penjara jugak? Relaxler. Lom kena lagi. Doa banyak-banyak.

ISA Repealed!!! *updated*

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 06:22 AM PDT

For sure, the elections is round the corner. Read the following news extracted from Malaysiakini:

Prime Minister Najib Razak will abolish the Internal Security Act and amend a number of laws which have long been criticised as overt attempts to stifle democracy.

In a special televised address today in conjunction with the eve of Malaysia day, Najib announced the following:

  • Abolishment of Internal Security Act (ISA), which allows detention without trial.
  • Three Emergency declarations to be lifted.
  • Amendments to freedom of assembly laws, which will recognise Article 10 of the Federal Constitution but will be "strongly" against street demonstration.
  • Annual renewal of printing permits for newspapers system will be replaced with a one-off licence, which can be withdrawn.

The ISA, which is a preventive detention law, was enacted in 1960. While initially the draconian law was used against the communists, it was often abused by the government to muzzle political dissidents.

Over the years, many key politicians were nabbed under the law which empowered the home minister to detain them for up to two years, which can be extended thereafter indefinitely.

"Realising the reality that Malaysia has changed, feeling the pulse, apprehension and aspirations of the rakyat who want a Malaysia that has a more open and dynamic democracy, where opinions, ideas and concerns are given more attention so that we can stand on par with other democratic systems in the world based on the universal philosophy of from the people, by the people, for the people, the government, under Section 3 Article 150 of the federal constitution, will table to both parliamentary councils a motion so that all three proclamations of emergency are lifted," said Najib.

With the lifting of the Emergency declarations, it means that the ISA-type Emergency Ordinance (EO) will also lapse.

Apart from the six PSM leader who were detained for one month in July, there are currently about 6,000 held in detention under EO.

Publishing permits for newspapers will remain but they will not be required to renew it every year.

"A comprehensive review (of laws no longer relevant) will involve the Restricted Residence Act 1933 and the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 where the annual licences will be abolished and replaced with licences which would be issued until it is cancelled," said Najib.

"The government will also review Section 27 of the Police Act 1967 to take into account of Article 10 of the federal constitution on the freedom of assembly with the principle that it would be against street demonstrations.

"However, the permission to assembly would be given through methodologies which will be decided later but it would consider international norms."

Hanya Kerajaan Berjiwa Rakyat Akan Dipilih Rakyat

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 05:52 AM PDT

5 Tahun Penjara Untuk Penembak Aminul-Rasyid. Cukupkah Untuk Menyedarkan Polis?

Kematian Aminul: Kpl Jenain dihukum 5 tahun penjara

Koperal Jenain Subi, 49, hari ini dijatuhi hukuman lima tahun penjara setalah didapati bersalah atas tuduhan menyebabkan kematian remaja Aminulrasyid Amzah.

Mahkamah Sesyen Shah Alam mendapati Jenain bersalah atas tuduhan tersebut mengikut Seksyen 304(a) Kanun Keseksaan.

Hakim Latifah Mohd Tahar turut menetapkan jaminan sebanyak RM10,000.

The Curse

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 03:14 AM PDT

I have been very busy with marking college exam papers and have not been able to keep up with the news. I will be blogging later in the evening though. In the mean time, my friend's son just came to my house and showed me this essay which I thought was a brilliant piece of work for his AS practice for the A levels but the poor boy came to my house very upset because his teacher gave him a D which is a Band 4 for the exam. For Band 4, it means the student has made many technical errors, confusion of tenses, wrong subject-verb agreement, frequent spelling errors and absent punctuation apart from other problems. Judge for yourself if he did make such errors. (The teacher is a native speaker.) I just told him to continue to try his best because I believe in him and that he is a good writer. Here goes...

Write a short story called The Curse. In your writing create a sense of mystery and suspense.

At night, the harbour was always misty. The chill in physical form always drifted by you, sending shivers down the spine. Silhouettes of various boats, tankers and cruisers lying idly by the dockside could be seen through the dense fog. One couldn't see their reflections in the black waters lapping the dock supports, only emptiness.

The air was silent and bone-chilling cold. Usually it was peaceful at night, full of people, mainly fishermen, enjoying the night sea breeze before heading home. But tonight, there was tension in the air. And there weren't many people. Just one. He stood there on the docks, restlessly looking over the waters for a sign of his destiny.

Suddenly, it came. A bright light broke through the shroud of the fog, like opening the gates of heaven itself. The man's eyes widened slightly. His breath quickened and his whole frame was shaking, not from the cold. However, he still held his ground. Right up until the lights got bigger and bigger. The foghorn got louder and louder. It engulfed him, and a shrill scream rose up into the frigid night air.

Six hours earlier...

Coming home from school, sixteen – year - old Marcus Damon came through the door like a tornado. Energetic and full of vigour, Marcus had just got back from a soccer match, where he was awarded the Most Valuable Player title. This came to no surprise as Marcus is the top athlete for Gekkoukan High School. With the top clubs clamouring for his signature , Marcus couldn't wait any longer for his time in the sun.

However, there was a downside to his fame. Arrogance fuelled every step he took and his headstrong manner made him more enemies than friends. One of them was his own little sister, Tilly Damon. At thirteen, she was a freshman at Gekkoukan and lived under the cloud of her brother. Everybody, from classmates to the principal, expected her to be a great sportswoman like her brother.

Much to their surprise, she was cut from a whole different cloth. She was a musician, playing instruments ranging from the triangle to the tuba, and played them well. And what a singer! An angel in full tilt couldn't have done better. Recording companies were looking for her signature and there was a bright future in the Japanese music industry

Both siblings were always at odds with each other. With their parents deceased, Marcus acted as the guardian. Thus, Marcus always placed his priorities ahead of Tilly's. He knew of his sister's amazing musical talent, but he was more concerned over his own sports career. More than once, he left his sister standing in the cold at her concerts, always exploring a new advertisement position or club contract.

That was the very reason why Marcus was home from school early today. Tilly finally had the star role in the school choir. She had very much wanted Marcus to see it. Although he had grudgingly promised to attend, it all changed. Marcus had received a text from his agent, and he was excited.

"Marcus, had an offer from Europe. Finally matched your evaluation, hundred thousand pounds a week, need to talk to you about this when you get back".

Marcus knew he just couldn't pass up an opportunity like this.

That was why he was home, and not at the concert.

He threw his bag on the kitchen counter and went upstairs to take a bath. To pass the time while waiting for his agent, he plopped himself in front of the TV. Time passed by. Somehow, Marcus had fallen asleep on the couch. When he woke up, he moaned groggily and tried to look at his watch. However, in the dark, he could pretty much guess it was night time.

Suddenly, he was blinded by a bright light. It was like a spear gouged in his retinas. Grunting in mild pain, he squinted to see a slight form at the light switch. It took several moments for his vision to clear. Once it was, he could clearly see the form and breathed out a sigh of relief. It was only Tilly.

Slightly built, with a cute baby face, her flaming red hair tied into a ponytail, she was usually quiet and never bothered Marcus. But tonight, her face was all red and she was trembling violently, looking like a volcano that just exploded. Her wild red hair, usually neat, accentuated this image. Marcus couldn't help but start laughing. Loud.

Tilly suddenly snapped at the sound of that laughter, shouting, "What are you laughing about!"

"O-o-oh sis," Marcus stuttered, unable to control himself, "Y-y-o-u should see yourself! All red and wild!" ending in another fit of giggles.

"Ah sis, I know what this is about," he said, grinning, "I missed your play again, didn't I?"

"You fool! How could you?! After I begged to tears!" Tilly said, unable to control her own flow of tears.

"My agent called, saying about some advertisement stuff I needed to do," Marcus shrugged, thinking the argument winding down, turned back to the TV.

"Where is your 'agent'?" Tilly said in a menacing low voice.

"Didn't show!" Marcus retorted back.

Finally, the volcano.

Tilly hurled so many expletive descriptions at Marcus's way that even he wondered where she learned so many words. However, the most important ones were these cursed words, "I hope an oil tanker runs over you!". Which from here, tired of his sister's insults, Marcus headed out of the door and walked towards the pier, and the black waters…

Honour RM70m court award, govt urged

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has been urged to step in to resolve the issue of Pahang government's refusal to pay a logging company RM70 million awarded by the Kuantan High Court.
DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said that the federal government could readily provide a grant or a friendly loan (without interests) to the Pahang government if the latter found it difficult to come up with the money. Said Lim: "I think it's about time the prime minister intervened… He is a Member of Parliament from Pahang. This is his own state and he shouldn't ignore this." Lim also said that the Pahang government has misused and abused Order 73 under the Rules of the High Court 1980, which states that no judgment or orders can be enforced against the government. "We believe that the state government is using this law to shield it from paying the judgment sum. "Legally, the state government may be protected from enforcement actions under this section. But ethically, in the eyes of public, local and foreign investors… the state has failed to honour its business contractual terms and the court of law." Lim said that never in Malaysian history has the government refused to pay an amount when it has been decided by a court.
"In Penang, (Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng had always paid what is being awarded by the court even though this was something done by the previous Barisan Nasional state government." "Why? Because this is what he (Guan Eng) preaches: a good government, transparency and abiding by the law. That's why Penang has seen a huge jump in foreign investments," said Lim.
Breaching logging contract
Ten men, directors and shareholders of a logging firm Seruan Gemilang Makmur Sdn Bhd, are now on a hunger strike relay to compel the Pahang government to abide by a court ruling to pay their company some RM70 million. The company had in 2002 sued the state for breaching a logging contract in which Seruan Gemilang claimed it was issued a permit to clear 8,000 acres of forest in Pekan, said to be owned by Pahang Umno. However, it was later discovered that the land was owned by the state government and not Pahang Umno, eventually forcing the company to cease operations until the matter was resolved. In May 2007, the Kuantan High Court ruled in the company's favour and ordered the Pahang government to pay them more than RM37 million plus interest of 8% per annum. The total comes close to RM70 million. The men started the strike in front of a temple in Segambut on Sept 8, rotating in pairs. Two have since been replaced after they collapsed last week and earlier this week.
'No respect for law'
PAS' Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and PKR's Selayang MP William Leong visited the hunger strike protesters this morning. "The Pahang state has no respect for the law. The court has ruled, don't mislead the public. For the state government to completely disregard the court… it is either bankrupt or is just a bunch of gangsters," he said. "The BN has been in power for too long… getting away with murder in the case of Altantuya Sharriibuu, and it has already corrupted the whole judicial process with Anwar Ibrahim's trial," said Khalid. "How can you have a BN state government with such attitude? This is typical of Umno and BN attitude," he said. It is understood that the hunger strike would last until tonight as the protesters are planning on continuing it near the Balok beach in Kuantan.
Seruan Gemilang manager Lee Sin said this decision was made because there are more than 100 investors, staff, and former workers who would participate in the strike in Pahang. "Besides the 10, we also had other workers who lost their income when the Pahang government stopped the logging work. Eventhough some of them have passed away, we hope to help their family if we can get back the payment," he said. The group is also hoping to seek an audience with the Pahang Sultan to raise the matter.

English Essay Writing Competition Prize-Giving Ceremony

The following is the coverage by The Borneo Post on the prize-giving on 10th September, 2011 at 9:00am at Premier Hotel, Sibu:

Local English teachers get help from foreign experts
Posted on September 11, 2011, Sunday

SIMPLY THE BEST: Lau (second right) handing over a certificate to Catholic High School team while Wong (right), Dr Hu (back row, third right) and others look on.

SIBU: Foreign English language experts and consultants are already moving around primary schools in town, helping local teachers elevate the standard of English.

This was revealed by Sibu Divisional education officer Wong Chung Kung yesterday, saying these native speakers of English Language engaged by the Education Ministry hail from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada and others.
"These experts will start from primary schools here, and it is hoped that with their expert guidance, the standard of English will improve tremendously, beginning from primary school level," Wong said in his speech at an English Essay Writing Competition 2011 at Premier Hotel here.

The competition was jointly organised by Sarawak Australian Graduates Association, central region (Saga) and The Borneo Post, supported by Sibu Education Department.

In this regard, he called on teachers to give their fullest cooperation to these foreign teachers and consultants in the quest to uplift the standard of English among students in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was quoted by Bernama recently as saying the Education Ministry would hire 370 foreign English language experts from 2011 to monitor the teaching of the language in Malaysian schools.

He was also quoted to have said the recruitment was in line with the implementation of the government's policy of upholding the Malay language and strengthening use of the English language (MBMMBI) for Year 1 pupils from next year.

Wong while acknowledging the importance of the English Language, said the ministry despite replacing the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI), would continue to place strong emphasis on the language.

He explained that MBMMBI was never meant to diminish the importance of English Language.
"When we stop PPSMI, and come up with MBMMBI, we still continue to place strong emphasis on English. For that reason, foreign English teachers and consultants were engaged to help elevate the standard of English," he said. Turning to the students, he advised them to read widely, noting that newspaper was an ideal source of information.

He said while it was important to focus on subject matter, it was equally crucial to have a sound general knowledge.
"So I urge parents to encourage their children to read newspapers to attain knowledge and not be contented with having mastered the subject matter for Physics, Chemistry and so on," he suggested.

He added that reading newspapers would go a long way to help improve students' communication skills.

Wong noted that many straight-A students were let down by poor communication skills during interviews.

"In essay writing, we can express ourselves freely and let our ideas flow. Having done that, we need to arrange our points together, making them presentable to readers.

"In essence, we are communicating to our readers through our essays," he said, adding that essay writing was among the effective ways to improve communication skills among students.

Meanwhile, in the junior form category (Form 1 – 3), Renee Ngu Chu Chen from SMK Tung Hua emerged winner, taking home a cash prize of RM150, certificate and one year's free subscription of The Borneo Post.

Phoebe Ting Bi Jia of SMK Methodist came in second followed by Annie Tiong Ci (SMK Tung Hua).

In the senior form category (Form 4 – 5), Brandon Ling Kie Chai of SMK Methodist grabbed the top post, followed by Marina Khadijah Wanli (SMK Methodist) and Kimberly Hii Wen Fei (SMK Tung Hua).

In the junior team category, SMK Methodist came in first, followed by SMK Tung Hua and SMK St Elizabeth.
SMK Sacred Heart and Catholic High School shared the top spot for the senior team category while SMK Tung Hua settled for third placing.

Among those present were Saga chairman Temenggong Vincent Lau, vice-chairman Dr Hu Chang Hock, secretary Tony Hii, academic officer from Sibu Education Department, Yong Swee Wah; SMK Methodist principal Yong Choo Tiong, See Hua marketing manager Kueh Nguan Seng and The Borneo Post Sibu branch manager Lawrence Ling.

Najib Kepada Mahathir: "I Help U, U Help Me"

Posted: 15 Sep 2011 12:24 AM PDT

Apa pula status Mahathir minta Najib lewatkan PRU, sindir Pakatan

-TMI

Dr M: Tarikh p'raya 'hak istimewa' k'jaan

- Bernama

Ulasan GB

Tindakan Mahathir menyatakan penentuan tarikh pilihanraya itu hak prerogatif kerajaan menjelaskan kepada kita tentang dua perkara.

Pertama beliau masih menyangkakan beliau PM.

Jadi apa hairan jika Mahathir kini membodek Najib? I HELP U, U HELP ME!

Itulah kisah yang sebenarnya.
