A Week In Taylor’s University #3

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 09:01 AM PDT

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#1: One of our drawing.

A Week In Taylor's University #3 – This is the 3rd series of "A Week In Taylor's University". This is not my 3rd week in the school though, it'd been I don't know how many weeks already, I only know I am now in semester 3, closing to the end of semester in about a month time. Sometimes I think, my tuition fees is very expensive, at about RM9,000 per semester (after scholarship discount for me is RM6,000-RM7,000), I get 14 weeks of study week. 14 weeks total up not even half a year or 4 months. In the short 14 weeks, it's already RM9,000. Expensive.

Now I only realised that other school does collect almost the same amount of school fees, but somehow they get 3 semester a year, which total up 7-9 semester. Woww.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#2. Convival Bazaar by The Design School. I wonder why we, Interior Design was not invited to join. Hmm.

Last week was beautiful because after a busy week before and submission, we finally got some rest for, a few days, but the coming weeks will be busy again because the next assignment and project have been issued.

The school was kinda happening last week with bazaar and fair going on in the school, selling food and accessories. It's really crowded and, fun.

#3: Gaming session at the Convival Bazaar.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#4: More gaming session.

#5: The stalls at The Convival Bazaar.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#6: Treated myself a cup of Chatime bubble tea after submission and sleepless night.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#7: It's a Chatime Jasmine Green Tea Mousse with Pearl. Yums.

Weather turned better, not so rainy, not so wet, it was just nice with some cloudy days, which then make sitting by the lakeside comfortable and nice.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#8: The ducks were dating by the lake. So sweet.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#9: The interior design gang.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#10: Kendrick in blue.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#11: Kendrick and Arvin.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#12: Fishy! So many fishes in the lake right now.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#13: Trying to attract the fishes.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#14: CK and Sofia.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#15: My team, me, Steve, Jia Hui and Wesley.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#16: Our presentation board. Well, it wasn't a good one because the lecturer said the arrangement was not good. It didn't go with the flow. What I wanted to show is like telling a story which start of with a book cover, and the details and so on. Think out of the box. But she not likey this way.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#18: Inside of the model.

It's pretty much just another week, didn't take much photo on the week too because was just trying to give myself a break, relax myself after a tiring week. Everything went fine, smooth and lazy.

But Thursday wasn't that nice to me because that class was from 8am-7pm, technically. What went wrong was in between 2.30pm-5pm was really very boring, it was the longest break ever as lecturer dismisses super duper early. Sigh.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#19: Another bazaar thingy, the Taylor's Young Entrepreneurs' Day by Taylor's Business School.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#20: Nasi Lemak 2.5. LOL.

A Week In Taylor's University #3
#21: Really crowded. People mountain people sea.

#22: More people.

#23.

#24: Taylor's Las Vegas with no casino and chicks.

#25: Playboy Mansion here with lots of bunny.

#26: Chinese herbal tea, anyone?

#27: Chinese desserts! Yum yum.

#28: Teddy bear.

#29: From the balcony.

#30: Looking down during evening.

#31: Sunset at Taylor's!

After class, Wesley, Jia Hui and I went to the balcony at 7th floor, Block E to enjoy the sunset for a little while before heading home. The traffic was bad on Thursday evening, really bad. Took me more than 30 minutes to reach home which is usually about 10 minutes.

New week ahead! Looking forward to! As the week after this will be a short semester break. Yeah!

[Video Bergambar] Komandan & 37 Askar Korea Memeluk Islam Sesudah Mempraktik Solat

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 10:38 AM PDT

Beware of DAP 'IT tontos' - they will hack you!

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 09:07 AM PDT

Looks like DAP and its allies in Pakatan Rakyat are engaging 'IT tontos' to hack blogs exposing the truth about their lies, cheats and bluffs. The more you write about their weaknesses and stupidities, the more they put your blogs on their 'unwanted' list.

Stopthelies was hacked twice, if I'm not mistaken.

The blog is almost all about DAP political game, its rotten agenda and how it makes donkeys out of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS. They ride on anything for the sake of political survival.

And for a party that self-proclaims as the champion of Press freedom and the rights of speech, it is showing a bad precedent. And what would they do should Pakatan Rakyat succeeds in taking over Putrajaya in the next general election?

If they don't like you, they will hack your blog. If they don't like your opposition towards them, I think they will re-enact the ISA for their own good use!

The last posting by Stopthelies was about Silly Hannah (Yeoh), DAP assemblywoman for Subang Jaya and her habit of tweeting the silliest thing. It often showcase her lack of political maturity, and as such she got to learn more from others.

I wonder if more anti-DAP, anti-PKR, anti-PAS and anti-PR blogs will be hacked after this. So much of the freedom of speech that they 'bark' here and there!

The "I" Factor

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 08:29 AM PDT

Undeniably, mankind has progressed in many unprecedented ways. However, the fact remains that many problems still exist. In fact, those related to moral values seem to be on the increase. To me, all this is caused on the missing factor in the world today. Factor 'I' is integrity. While the world was burdened by the acquired immunity deficiency syndrome in the past, Malaysians are suffering the effects of acquired INTEGRITY deficiency syndrome as seen in those who ought to have that "I" factor!

This disease is rife in modern society where the producer's satisfaction takes precedence over customer satisfaction. Policies are deliberately implemented to deny consumers their rights and defraud them of their cash. You are enticed with pretty promises but when you need the service you were promised you come to the ugly realisation that it was all lies, they just wanted your money.

It is rife in our employment field where too many employees see if they can get out of work or to see what they can get out of work. They willingly enter into an agreement with their employer and then once employed, demand improved conditions of employment without offering improved levels of service. Sadly, there are many employers who offer below subsistence wages yet expect above average performance - much like the struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Needless to say, it is rife in the political arena of many countries, even a little closer home.

What are the symptoms? You know someone or some organization has this ailment when you see what they can get away with the most bizarre acts/statements. What happens is that the more that those unscrupulous ones can get away with it, the less they see the need to actually do what they perceive as the right thing. Eventually, this happens so often that it becomes their nature to do the wrong thing whole actually believing that the wrong thing is actually the right thing. Even the crap that they tell the public sounds true in their ears!!!In other words, there is a complete absence of HONEST INTENT.

Many areas seem to demonstrate a lack of integrity. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines integrity as the ability to have a "firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values." The Oxford American Dictionary defines it as "honesty, incorruptibility."

Recent events have truly shown up the deficiency of integrity. Are leaders consistent in their actions? Can we trust them? Can we believe in what they are saying? Can we stomach their absurdities any more? Frankly, I am so fed up and during such times, I lose my voice in my writing - which explains why I have not been blogging for the past two weeks or so.

Can there ever be a new breed of leaders who dare to rise above moral and ethical standards and adhere to religious and moral principles in the things they do and say? When an organization chooses a leader that does not demonstrate such ideals and cowers in fear of others, it is the beginning of the death of that organization. When an organization follows a leader that looks at others through race-tinted glasses and other leaders DO NOT chastise him, then we know something is seriously wrong.

We HAVE to make a difference in small but meaningful ways to raise awareness about all this crap that we see. Ranting alone is not enough. Most sincerely, I confess I am at my wits' ends trying to figure out how we can escape from this malaise.

Naturally, we must continue to uphold moral and ethical standards not forgetting religious and moral principles. Our challenge is to teach our children and the youth of today and tell them where some went wrong and to ensure they do not follow the wrong examples and to ensure that they do not look up to the wrong models of behavior. The world is full of deceit and immorality and public outcry MUST rise above all the deceit, deception, foul play and compromise of ethics, values and norms.

We MUST speak up when the situation warrants it and demand for the truth and nothing but the truth!!!! We must speak up loudly when things are not and keep silent no more. But what happens when elected leaders keep silence in the line of duty?

May there be leaders who are wise and strong enough to unravel and to expose the truth. If not, our nation will be gnawed slowly but surely by this acquired integrity deficiency syndrome where the truth will then be buried somewhere out there in mysteries that even Mulder and Scully cannot solve!

Please leave a comment if you wish to share your thoughts and views. Thanks. Have a lovely week ahead.

Open Letter to My Son – Miki’s First Bicycle

Posted: 12 Oct 2011 08:24 AM PDT

 Dear Miki,

Each time we went back to Penang, you will be having a jolly good time with your cousins especially Arash and Sarah. Both of them have bicycles that they would ride around the housing area in the afternoons. You wanted to go round and round the place as well but you didn't have a bike so you ran! And you ran and you ran after Sarah's bicycle. You ran until you were drenched in sweat and your cheeks flushed pink.

Don't feel so bad kid, I remember Arash did the same to his big bro Adam when he was your age too… After all, although you are tad taller for our age, you are only 3 years old. Still very much a baby to many…

A couple of weeks ago we finally bought your first bicycle. You used to have a tricycle that was given to you on your second birthday by my friends (thanks ladies!) but being a typical little boy, the tricycle is destroyed by the next birthday party.

At the toy store in Nilai 3, you picked the red and grey bicycle for yourself and it sure look very good on you. It has training wheels of course but I still wondered if you could push the pedals on your own. You didn't get any useful practice with the tricycle, so I was prepared to go for 24 credit hours a series of training before you can ride the bicycle on your own.

But I was wrong. You climbed on the bicycle and instantly you start to push the pedals. Awkward in the first few minutes only but after that you were cycling on your own and navigating the handles like a pro! I am so proud of you. But being three, your legs are still not that strong so sometimes when it went uphill you need us to give you a little bit of a push. It's okay!! We are still so proud of you!

And you know what kid, you look so gomoi-licious cute! I love you!

Check our my new bike guys!

Miki riding his first bike at the park

Look Mummy! One hand!

Yay! I am so excited!

That's my son!

From that first day, cycling becomes your favorite past time, but to ensure your safety from mad rempit estate and fast moving cars, we always take you to our favourite park. Sometimes if I am home early and the weather is right, you make me hang out there until it is almost dark.

I don't mind waiting for you my son, I don't mind at all. Cycling is a good exercise and as I walk briskly behind you and your red bicycle, I was given some time to think.

I am thinking how fast you are growing. I am thinking how you have become mobile. I am thinking how soon you will ask for the training wheels to be removed and then you will speed even much faster. How fast will you go. Will you be safe.

I wish we could make this huge bubble and put you in it. So that when you fall you wont scrape you knee and when some sneeze you won't catch the bug. But I know we can't do that. As much as Mummy and Daddy is here to protect you, Miki… someday you jump on your wheels and you'll be on your own.

And by then I hope we have thought you enough knowledge, enough wisdom to prepare you for the big bad world outside. How I drag that moment to come but Mummy and Daddy always want the best for you, son…

May you always be wise and good, be strong and be kind. Insya Allah, He will take care of you even when we are not. We love you Miki, We love you very much!

Mummy.

Buku 'Imelda Rosmah Boros' akan dilancar esok! ;-)

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 07:16 AM PDT

A 16-page booklet by a PKR-linked NGO presenting a collation of information on the multi-million ringgit ring linked to the Prime Minister's wife will be launched tomorrow.

While the information provided in the booklet is readily available on the Internet, the product of Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) traces the events which have occurred since the expose on the RM24.45 million ring and the issue was made public by SAMM leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin, popularly known as Chegubard, who is also a prominent PKR member.

The booklet kicks off with salacious foreword comparing Rosmah Mansor to the infamous Imelda Marcos of the Philippines and presents both documents said to have been leaked to the NGO by Customs Department officers and the authorities' response to it.

Team Building @ FRIM

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 06:21 AM PDT

Friday was NOT a working day for my team. One of my team member has organized a mini team building @ Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM).

@9:20 i reached the FRIM and i was the 3rd person there besides my colleagues who was organizing this event and my boss whom don't like to be late. Luckily i was not late... Anyway, we were there waiting for the rest to arrive.

The trip to FRIM was different from my previous visit. This time we hired a ranger to bring us around FRIM... My team member has organized a light and easy hike through the planted forest since 1929. There were lots of different species of trees... The Kapur trees (Dryobalanops Lanceolata) formed the crown of shyness which is a popular spot for the entire hiking trip.

Crown Shyness, Malaysia
Managed to capture via my iPhone.
Then we continued walk over to see other species. Guess what? We came across a tree name Jelotung (Dyera Costulata) which its latex is use for...

Ranger : Do you know the latex of this tree is use for making what?
Team: No idea...
Ranger : You know I usually offer Chewing Gum when we reach here but now i don't...
Team : Why?
Ranger : Recently the research found this latex is a good material for high quality Condoms.
Team : High quality Condom?
Ranger : Yes, because of its latex is soft and not so easy to break.
Team : Oh i see...
Ranger : I stop chewing gums now cause every time i chew the gum, I always feel like i chew on high quality Condoms.
Team : Hahahahaa....

After the story of Chewing gum and High Quality Condoms... we move on and the Ranger continued to explain those plants... we have learnt a lot within that two hours hike. It's a very nice hike for a CITY BOY like me. LoL...

Nafikan Hak Royalti Kelantan, UMNO BN Pasti Tumbang

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 07:33 AM PDT

(Surah Ar-Rum
: 6).

Utusan lovin' it: Just defame, get sued and pay for it

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 05:53 AM PDT

Just two days ago:
By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal
October 14, 2011
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The High Court today ordered that Utusan Malaysia pay RM60,000 in damages to PAS lawmaker Khalid Samad over a defamatory article published two years ago.
The Shah Alam MP (picture) had on September 30 won the case, after suing the publishers of the Umno-owned daily last year over the article "Zulkifli bidas Pak Janggut (Zulkifli blasts the Bearded Man)".
The article was published in September 2009.
Commercial High Court judge Dr Prasad Sandosham Abraham ordered Utusan and the group's editor-in-chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Ishak pay Khalid the amount in damages for publishing the article without first verifying the veracity of its contents.

Aziz Bari to sue Utusan for defamation
UIAM law professor Abdul Aziz will sue Umno-owned Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia for defamation over its reports on the academic's remarks about the rulers and religious issues.

NONEThe constitutional law expert told Malaysiakini today, "The main reason is that Utusan has twisted and turned my statements. They portray me as insolent, disrespectful and stubborn."

Abdul Aziz's move comes after Umno, Utusan and NGOs levelled attacks against him in the press with Utusan campaigning against the academic for purportedly going against the institution of Malay rulers following his comments that questioned the sultan's intervention in favour of Jais' for acting despite the lack of evidence for alleged proselytisation on the recent statement by the Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah over the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais)-Harapan Komuniti controversy.

On Aug 3, Jais enforcement officials conducted an inspection of dinner held by Harapan Komuniti - a social welfare NGO - after allegations that the group was involved in the proselytisation of Muslims.

Subsequently, twelve Muslims were investigated over their presence at the dinner.

Peniaga Perlu Timbang Rasa, Ada Yang Mati & Bersalin Dalam Kereta Kerana Kesesakan Lalulintas

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 05:35 AM PDT

Masalah kerana mereka nak mengaut ke-untungan. Jadi saya harapkan semua jadi rasional. Kerajaan Negeri mengalu-alukan perniagaan tetapi jangan kita nak dapat keuntungan kita menyebabkan orang lain sakit, mati, susah."

Sinar Harian , 4 Okt 2011

Walau bagaimanapun, saya bersyukur tiada kemalangan jiwa berlaku," katanya.

Selepas Khalid Samad & Mat Sabu, Giliran Aziz Bari Pula Bakal Saman Utusan Malaysia

Aziz Bari: Saya tak nafi kuasa Sultan, kaji saman media pesong kenyataan

"Tesis PhD saya berjudul The Development and Role of Constitutional Monarchy yang dikemukakan kepada Universiti Birmingham, England menghurai pelbagai kuasa raja termasuk dalam aspek agama.

Baru-baru inini, Ezam menggesa agar portal berita MalaysiaKini dan Aziz disiasat dibawah Akta Hasutan 1948 atas alasan mempertikaikan titah Sultan Selangor berhubung isu pemeriksaan Gereja Methodist Damansara Utama.

Beberapa Ahli Parlimen membidas Aziz kerana kenyataannya.

"Ramai tahu siapa sebenarnya Abdul Aziz.

-TMI

Looking at the Myanmar Diaspora in KL

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 02:58 AM PDT

Looking at the Myanmar Diaspora in KL

Myanmars always look at the new migrants: Chinese and Indians with disdain as taking their jobs, money, lands, ladies and polluted their race and religion.

With globalization, nowadays Myanmars are everywhere around the world. In Singapore, Myanmar-Singaporeans even became the big headache for Singapore government in the recent election.

In KL there are about 50 Myanmar Monasteries. Prestigious, KL city centre, main tourist attraction area Bukit Bintang or Star Hill area Jl Alor stalls are taken over by Myanmar Chins. They speak Chin, Chinese and Malay fluently but not fluent in Myanmar. Some of my Chin patients prefer to talk to me in Malay and at the dispensary counter communicates with my nurses in Chinese.

KL's Heritage area China town shops are taken over by Myanmar Mons. They could speak Chinese and sub rented the shop lots from locals.

KL's wholesale market Selayang Pasar Borng is transformed into the Rohingya market.

Government owned Medical University in Sabah State is even mocked and changed name to University Myanmar Sabah.

There are at 10-20 Myanmar lecturers in 25 of the Medical Universities in Malaysia. And few thousands of Myanmar doctors are working here.

You could see Myanmar workers in almost all the food stalls, restaurants, clubs and hotels.

Myanmars are marrying or staying together with Malays, Indonesians, Chinese, Thais, Cambodians, and Pilipino etc here.

You could see Myanmar students in universities, Myanmar sailors, Myanmar Pilots, Helicopter Pilots, Instructors in Pilot training schools, Maritime training
school….etc.

I hope this scenario is repeated in other countries around the world.

So…remember this: If we discriminate others as foreign because they, their race and religion are different to us, all the others could also look down and discriminate on us because we are also foreign to them!

Lots of people believe that they have the right to segregate others and feel superior to them, just because they are different to what they are used to.

For decades, thousands of people have been victims of discrimination, preferences and exclusions in view of their race, skin color, sex, religion, language, national or ethnic origin and form of expression, causing extreme
suffering and even loss of life.

Racial discrimination is the ability or power to make distinctions among people based on race, color, decent, national or ethnic origin rather than individual merit.

Xenophobia is a fear of the foreign, of what is strange.

Religious intolerance occurs when someone's opinions and beliefs are not
respected by others due to their religion or way of thinking.

Racism can, will and must be defeated. Almost every country in the world suffers prejudice among its own people, racial discrimination, xenophobia or religious intolerance."

1 Burma advanced concept of General Aung San

Race, religion, and language are thus by themselves not primary factors which go to the making of a nation but the historic necessity of having to lead common life together that is the pivotal principle of nationality and nationalism.

Every student of social and political science knows very well that such slogans as race, religion, language do not alone constitute nationalism. There are one or more races in almost every country. Nowadays, we have different religions being embraced by members of the same nationality.

What then constitutes nationalism?

The main factor is the:

  1. having to lead together one common life
  2. sharing joys and sorrows,
  3. developing common interests
  4. and one or more common things like racial or linguistic communities,
  5. fostering common traditions of having been and being one which give us a consciousness of oneness and necessity of that oneness.

"I want to address the Indians and Chinese residing in this country. We have no bitterness, no ill will for them, or for that matter for any race and nationality in the world. If they choose to join us, we will welcome them as our own brethren. The welfare of all people of this country irrespective of race or religion has always been the one purpose that I have set out to fulfill. In fact it is my life's mission."

I recognize both the virtues and limitations of pure nationalism, I love its virtues, I don't allow myself to be blinded by its limitations, though I knew that it is not easy for the great majority of any nation to get over these limitations. In so far as nationalism encourages us to love our people and love others. In so far as nationalism inculcates in us a sense of national and social justice which calls upon us to fight any system that is oppressive or tyrannical both in our country and the world, there I am completely with nationalism.

I believe in the inherent right of a people to revolt against any tyranny that people may have over them. History has amply demonstrated the right of a people to its own freedom, and that once it is denied to them, even in the case of the peoples who belong to the same stock. There is therefore nothing wrong in the aspirations of a nation if it wants to regain the freedom that is its birthright and attempts to have it. Every nation in the world must be free not only externally (i.e., free from any foreign rule) but also internally.

We cannot confine the definition of a nationality to the narrow bounds of race, religion, etc. Nations are extending the rights of their respective communities even to others who may not belong to them except by their mere residence amongst them and their determination to live and be with them. I am glad to know that you regard yourselves as nationals of this country. So far as I am concerned, I am perfectly prepared to embrace you as my own brothers and sisters.

Reverend Sanghas! You have a tremendous role to play. This is the highest politics which you can do for your country and people. Go amongst our people, preach the doctrine of unity and love; carry the message of higher freedom to every nook and corner of the country, freedom to religious worship, freedom to preach and spread the Dharma anywhere and anytime, freedom from fear, ignorance, superstition, etc., teach our people to rely upon themselves and re-construct themselves materially, spiritually and otherwise. You have these and many more noble tasks before you.

Race, religion, and language are thus by themselves not primary factors which go to the making of a nation but the historic necessity of having to lead common life together that is the pivotal principle of nationality and nationalism.

Nowadays, with the increasing mutual intercourse of nations, there is such a provision in many of the constitutions of the world for naturalization of foreigners. But it is in history that opportunist political leadership taking advantage of the strong national sentiments of the people may try to exploit the nationalism of the people for their selfish individual or group interests. We must be careful of such exploitation of nationalism. For then racial strives and bitterness will be fomented and fostered among us by interested parties in order to divert our attention from the main objective.

Some of us have been going still about the same old way of 'dirty' politics. But is politics really 'dirty'. It is not politics which is dirty, but rather the persons who choose to dirty it are dirty.

Four heritage sites in George Town

Posted: 16 Oct 2011 12:23 AM PDT

I came home yesterday thoroughly spent, having endured more than five hours under the blazing sun with my old classmate, Siang Jin. We were walking up and down the so-called Street of Harmony in the core heritage zone of George Town. He was taking photographs of the heritage sites while I was telling him where to aim his camera.

You see, I am mighty glad that my collaborative work with him is now almost at any end. It was an assignment that began in December last year, which means that almost 10 months have been spent on it. Ten months, 10 long months.

I had spent all this time to talk with people, research for information from long-forgotten books and documents, and spent hours piecing together new documentations for 10 heritage sites in this small area. Most of the work was completed between December and February. And now, all that remained was the photography work. This would be a job that required my friend to come up from Kuala Lumpur. After all, it was his initiative that the assignment ever got off the ground at all. Now he was here to finish it up.

Just like to share a few of the pictures that I snapped with my little Panasonic camera.

This is, of course, the interior of the Church of St George the Martyr in Farquhar Street. This is a perspective that's not normally seen. We asked permission to go up the staircase to the floor above the main entrance.

I think most people would be too familiar with the richness of the Khoo Kongsi's main building in Cannon Square by now. Therefore, I thought that this picture of one of their stone bamboo windows would make a nice change.

Elaborate carvings on the pillars that adorned the Kapitan Keling Mosque in Pitt Street. During one of the last restoration projects for the mosque, the carvings were uncovered after the workers had peeled away the multi-layers of old paint.

Our last stop at the Kuan Yin Temple in Pitt Street. It coincided with Kuan Yin's birthday itself, so the temple was full of people and smoke. These are just some of the big joss-sticks in the front courtyard of the temple.
