Iran warns nothing will stop its mighty submarine fleet from closing strategic Hormuz oil route

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:30 AM PST

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran's navy chief warned Wednesday that his country can easily close the strategic Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, the passageway through which a sixth of the world's oil flows.

It was the second such warning in two days. On Tuesday, Vice President Mohamed Reza Rahimi threatened to close the strait, cutting off oil exports, if the West imposes sanctions on Iran's oil shipments.

In response, the Bahrain-based U.S. 5th Fleet's spokeswoman warned that any disruption "will not be tolerated." The spokeswoman, Lt. Rebecca Rebarich, said the U.S. Navy is "always ready to counter malevolent actions to ensure freedom of navigation."

With concern growing over a possible drop-off in Iranian oil supplies, a senior Saudi oil official said Gulf Arab nations are ready to offset any loss of Iranian crude.

[Video] Kain Shahrizat Terselak Luas - Ada Kondo Mewah & Restoran Meatwork Di S'pura

-mk

Jingga 13 tinjau kondo mewah milik Shahrizat

-KD

Ulasan GB

Kain dah terselak, nampak semua.

Terima nanti padahnya.

Egypt's new religious masters close down Christian TV station.

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:24 AM PST

(Cairo) Well behind all the faux words of respect, honour and equality that will be afforded towards Non-Muslim in Eygpt. It appears that followers of the majority faith, you know the ones who belong to a religion of peace have pressured the Egyptian Goverment to close down a Christian TV station for offending Islam.

Yup its seems the faith which well out of its way in which to offend others,(but always taken out of context) has as usual turned the story around when it comes to minority faiths living in their midst.

So much for democracy in Eygpt then. Hat tip: Eye On The World.

Turkish airstrike kills 35 Teens, world remains silent.

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:18 AM PST

(Ankara) Turkish Drones flying over Kurdistan spotted a group of people traversing from Iraq into Turkey. So presuming that they were a bunch of PKK terrorists, they dropped a few bombs on them.

Problem was, that gang of people weren't PKK terrorists, but rather a bunch of Kurdish teens who were trying to make a few bucks by smuggling in fuel from Iraq into Turkey and 35 deaths later, the Turkish military has found itself having to explain why it has murdered so many young people. To make matters worse, it transpires that the group which was hit had been redirected by the Turkish military to take a certain path. A path we now know led only to their deaths.

The thing is I don't see the chattering classes letting off the UK,US or even Israel when they get anything wrong on the battlefield. Which lets be honest has them all foaming at the mouth if a terrorist gets as much as a splinter in his finger. Funny enough I don't expect to see any liberals lamenting the loss of these poor people, never mind protesting at their untimely demise. funny that.Hat tip: Eye On The World.

A Creative and Productive Day

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:16 AM PST

As the school holidays are drawing to a close, I decided that I would make the best of today. It has been a most productive day indeed :-).

The morning was spent doing the usual household chores. Then, my former singing partner's son came by and we had a jam session - me on the piano whilst he sang and played the guitar. Unfortunately, his parents are in Perth for otherwise, it would have been an even livelier jam session.

By afternoon, I mended four pairs of my older boy's shorts, one pair of my younger boy's shorts and a pair of my linen trousers. Following that, I decided to do a video clip of my favourite song from the 1970's - "Close to You" popularized by The Carpenters. I had recorded the MP3 file just past midnight this morning. I took some time to compile the selection of images and then put it all together in the following clip. The vocal section was recorded in one take.

After I uploaded the clip to Facebook, I went about making chocolate banana raisin muffins with walnuts. Originally, I had planned to make Banana Poppy Seed Muffins but both my husband and younger boy requested for the other combo.

Here it is...

Eighteen minutes later...

Right now, I am waiting for my wholemeal bread to be ready...I started kneading the dough before I made the muffins and it should be ready in an hour. However, I am waiting with bated breath because instead of using brown sugar, I used gula melaka :-(. So I am most anxious to see if it will turn out properly!

In reality, my kitchen has been closed since 2008 when my older boy left for KL to pursue his tertiary education. For health reasons, I decided to reopen my kitchen and to start cooking again.

Having said that, I must say that home-cooked meals or desserts are certainly the best.

May you and your family enjoy heartwarming moments together over the dinner table. Take care and have a pleasant evening!

Update: Here's my wholemeal loaf...not too happy with it because I added a little bit too much butter. Serves me right for not measuring it properly and falling back on my faulty estimation.

It is only now that I realized I used the wrong proportion for the bread. :-( I had used the one for muffins. :-( Still, it smells and looks yummy and I have yet to dig in :-). Cheers

"Burning books in Cairo", by Ryan Jones

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:14 AM PST

Yet another nail in the coffin of the dangerously delusional idea that the 'Arab Spring' is a step forward for freedom, democracy, human rights, et cetera. Earlier this month, in a development nearly two weeks old (as of this writing), approximately 192,000 rare books and manuscripts belonging to the Institute of Egypt in Cairo went up in flames, destroyed by rampaging Muslim mob.
Israel Today Magazine, 27 December 2011:

Any number of political analysts have tried to write off the electoral gains by Islamist parties in Egypt, insisting that once in power, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist al-Nour Party will take a pragmatic approach to governing.

It is the same nonsense that was spouted as the Nazis rose to power in Germany, when the Ayatollah Khomeini made his triumphant return to Iran, when Yasser Arafat's PLO terrorist organization was elevated to the status of a national government, and when Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election.

On December 17, an Egyptian mob - presumably of the type that has been voting for the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Nour - demonstrated that they have no intention of "modernizing" or adopting Western-style pragmatism when they torched the Institute of Egypt in Cairo. Among the casualties of the Islamist assault were some 192,000 rare books and manuscripts.

The Institute of Egypt was established by Napoleon Bonaparte when he invaded Egypt in the late 18th century. For centuries the Institute of Egypt housed priceless chronicles of the nation's history, as well as the findings of hundreds of top scholars and scientists.

The Institute of Egypt symbolized Egypt's connection to the West, and for many its establishment was the start of the "modern era" in Egypt. And that is why it had to go. Because Egypt's Islamists have no intention of modernizing, not on Western terms, at any rate. Like the Ayatollahs in Iran and Hamas in Gaza, their ultimate goal is to return Egypt to a medieval form of life where a strict interpretation of Sharia Law governs the actions of all.

The first to suffer will be Egypt's Christians. They are suffering already. But most of this is being ignored by an international community determined to paint the "Arab Spring" as a positive phenomenon. It is certainly a positive thing to throw off the yoke of a repressive dictatorship. But it is a negative thing to replace that repressive dictatorship with oppressive theocratic rule.

That the world is championing this change in Egypt when just 30 years ago the same scenario played out in Iran with devastating results just goes to show that mankind is doomed to never learn from his mistakes.

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:19 AM PST

Bekas Hakim Datuk Arifin Jaka Meninggal

Kebetulan?

Bukan!

Ittaqullah!

Tindakan Hassan Ali Sudah Keterlaluan, Harakahdaily Pertahan Berita

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 04:15 AM PST

Harakahdaily pertahan berita, ini transkripnya

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Dis: Harakahdaily mempertahankan berita kenyataan Mursyidul Am, Tuan Guru Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz semalam mengenai pertemuannya dengan Datuk Dr Hasan Mohd Ali.

Kita buat salah, bila kita sedar buat salah, tarik balik, minta maaf. Ini ajaran agama. Bukan senang manusia buat salah nak tarik balik, bukan senang. Tiba-tiba dia ni tarik balik.

Kita ucap syukur, moga ramai lagi orang yang buat salah, tarik balik dan minta maaf.

Wartawan: Dari segi parti sendiri tok guru, terimalah?

Terimalah.

Wartawan: Pertemuan itu di mana Tok Guru?

JKR 10

Wartawan: Ustaz Nasha...

Saya beritahu kelmarin, kalau Datuk Seri Presiden tak buat jemputan macam ini, saya akan buat. Saya suka sangat. Macam kita nak kahwin. Apabila kita kahwin, kita buat jamuan nama dia walimatul urus.

Denda kerana celupar mulut dia. Jadi kalau orang zaman Nabi pun ada buat kesilapan dan Nabi betulkan cepat-cepat, inikan zaman kita tengah 2000 tahun, maka banyak benda-benda silap.

Wartawan: Tok guru, kedudukan Ustaz Nasha lepas ini, mungkin di Parlimen Bachok macamana Tok Guru?

Parlimen Bachok tu orang Bachok tengoklah.

Viral video of a meme proposal by Malaysian netrepreneur Timothy Tiah to her girlfriend Audrey Ooi, which even prompted a congratulatory tweet from Christina Perri (who sang the song in the video, A Thousand Years)…

Not a fan of meme, but the proposal is cool… at least something extra to be remembered and laughed about when they got old together. Congratulations to the couple, and have a beautiful wedding.
