some of the interesting QUOTES...

"I grew up in Tanjung Malim and my family here is very simple and ordinary. Nobody in my family talks about our royal blood and wealth. But my grandmother once told me: "You are special and, when the time comes, you will know."

They hiked up a mountain for four hours and reached a cave guarded by an old couple who, Kamal says, are immortals.

"If you tried to pass them without their blessing, you would cough blood and die," he said.

Inside the three-metre-high cave, Kamal saw gold bars stacked like a pagoda, US$15mil (RM46mil) in jade and US$10mil (RM31mil) in diamonds and stacks of US dollars.

"He said I was the reincarnation of Emperor Nurhaci (1661-1626) of China. He felt an energy on my head which was superhuman because an emperor, unlike an ordinary human, has to think more.

"I'm the reincarnation of two emperors of China," Kamal added.

He elaborated that a few years ago, the royal family decided he would be the sole administrator of the royal wealth kept in secret accounts in about 1,000 banks worldwide.

"This means that 86.7% of the world's money belongs to me," he said.

He produced an A4-sized paper with the photographs of the national treasure, the immortal couple and several "official-looking" letters from an international bank certifying he has an account of five trillion euros (RM20tril).

"That is a small amount. I have more money in other banks and institutions," he added.

Kamal has not made any withdrawal from the account as "it is not money that you can move just like that".

"The money is under the control of Indonesia, Germany, Britain, the US and the Euro Central Bank and I've got to go smooth with them," he said.

"I can't use the money directly but I will invest in certain projects. Like three trillion euros (RM12tril) to green a desert in China."

Born in the year of the dragon, Kamal believes 2012 is his year. In March, he says he will negotiate with institutions such as the IMF to be recognised as the Emperor of Indonesia.

Orang Cina Ada Sebab Kukuh, Mengapa Kena Pangkah “Bulan”!

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 10:39 AM PST

"Kita(Pakatan Rakyat) sepatutnya diberi peluang memerintah.

-BuletinOnline

The Sokal Affair

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 06:53 AM PST

Did you know that Wikipedia contains many interesting articles? Here's one on a publishing hoax!

According to Wikipedia:

The Sokal affair, also known as the Sokal hoax, was a publishing hoax perpetrated by Alan Sokal, a physics professor at New York University. In 1996, Sokal submitted an article to Social Text, an academic journal of postmodern cultural studies. The submission was an experiment to test the publication's intellectual rigor and, specifically, to learn if such a journal would "publish an article liberally salted with nonsense if it (a) sounded good and (b) flattered the editors' ideological preconceptions."

The article "Transgressing the Boundaries: Towards a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity", published in the Social Text Spring/Summer 1996 "Science Wars" issue, proposed that quantum gravity is a social and linguistic construct. At that time, the journal did not practice academic peer review and did not submit the article for outside expert review by a physicist.

On its date of publication (May 1996), Sokal revealed in Lingua Franca that the article was a hoax, identifying it as "a pastiche of Left-wing cant, fawning references, grandiose quotations, and outright nonsense . . . structured around the silliest quotations [by postmodernist academics] he could find about mathematics and physics".

The resultant academic and public quarrels concerned the scholarly merit, or lack thereof, of humanistic commentary about the physical sciences; the influence of postmodern philosophy on social disciplines in general; academic ethics, including whether Sokal was right or wrong to deceive the editors and readers of Social Text; and whether the journal had exercised the appropriate intellectual rigor before publishing the pseudoscientific article.

Navy SEALs Rescue Hostages in Somalia

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 06:31 AM PST

Night Mission Leaves 9 Captors Dead, After Weeks of White House Planning.

Jumping out of an Air Force plane flying high enough to avoid puncturing the nighttime silence, members of a Navy SEAL team parachuted into Somalia's darkness to rescue two aid workers, an American and a Dane, from their three-month captivity.

The operation, which unfolded early Wednesday local time in a remote region of Somalia, extracted the two hostages unharmed and left their nine captors dead, according to the U.S. military. It represented the first public report of an extended U.S. ground raid in that country since a 1993 operation in Mogadishu that left 19 American service members dead and prompted the U.S. to withdraw from Somalia.

The raid was planned and carried out after U.S. officials developed intelligence on the hostages' location and information that raised concerns about the deteriorating health of Jessica Buchanan, a 32-year-old American originally from Ohio. "There was a window of opportunity for military success," Navy Capt. John Kirby, the chief Pentagon spokesman, said Wednesday. "Within the last week or so, we were able to connect enough dots to make the decision."

The operation was the culmination of weeks of secrecy and strategy sessions among officials at the White House, the Pentagon and U.S. military commands abroad, according to defense and senior administration officials. The plan was propelled by the urgency of freeing Ms. Buchanan and Poul Hagen Thisted, a 60-year-old Danish man. Working for a Danish nonprofit group that removes land mines from conflict zones, the two were taken hostage Oct. 25, 2011, by gunmen with unknown motives.

The White House and top Pentagon officials tracked the situation from that day, officials say. On Nov. 23, the White House held a formal meeting of the national security staff to discuss it. Officials appear to have been uncertain then of where the two were being held. At that meeting, President Barack Obama directed that the efforts to find Ms. Buchanan continue, a senior administration official said.

By January, U.S. officials appear to have homed in on the location, near Gadaado, Somalia, east of the Ethiopian border. Last week, aides briefed Mr. Obama on new intelligence reports that Ms. Buchanan's health was deteriorating. Administration and military officials didn't provide details of Ms. Buchanan's health condition, citing privacy restrictions. Members of her family couldn't be located to comment Wednesday.

Don Meyer, the president of Valley Forge Christian College, the Pennsylvania school from which Ms. Buchanan graduated, said the college community was "grateful" for the rescue by the U.S. commandos. "I'm glad they are on our side," he said. John Brennan, the president's senior counterterrorism adviser, began providing Mr. Obama daily updates, noting that a rescue attempt was likely imminent.

To carry out any rescue, the military chose a commando team that included members of SEAL Team Six, the elite special mission unit that carried out the May 2011 raid into Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden. On Saturday, senior national-security officials held a video teleconference to discuss rescue options, the senior administration official said. At a Monday evening meeting with Mr. Brennan in the White House residence, Mr. Obama authorized the operation.

On Tuesday evening in Washington, before leaving to watch Mr. Obama deliver his annual State of the Union address, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta watched the raid unfold on a video link at the White House. The Air Force provided overhead video of the raid as it unfolded, officials said. Across the world, an Air Force plane ferrying the commandos had taken off from an undisclosed location and flew over Somalia, close to the Ethiopian border. The commandos jumped out.

They were on the ground for about an hour. The SEALs found the encampment where nine armed men were holding the two captives. They reported that there were also explosives at the location. Military officials provided few details of the armed encounter, including how the hostages were being held or the details behind the fight that left the captors dead. Provisions had been made to detain anyone who surrendered but the SEAL team didn't take prisoners, defense officials said. After the team freed Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Thisted, Army helicopters landed to ferry the SEAL team and the rescued hostages to safety.

The president was told at 6:43 p.m. that Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Thisted had been rescued and were safe. At 9 p.m., as he entered the House chamber to deliver his address, Mr. Obama turned to Mr. Panetta to tell him, "Good job tonight." After the speech, Mr. Obama spoke with Ms. Buchanan's father to inform him of the successful rescue mission, administration officials said.

The first stop for the freed hostages was a U.S. base in nearby Djibouti, Camp Lemonnier. Military officials declined to say later whether the hostages remained there or were taken elsewhere, saying they were at a medical facility in the region.

For the military, Tuesday's raid represented something of a return to Somalia. Under the Bush and Obama administration, the military has conducted occasional strikes at suspected terrorists. But until Tuesday, there hadn't been a public report of an extended ground raid. U.S. ground forces have mostly steered clear of the country since 1993. That year, U.S. special operations forces trying to capture Somali warlords ended up battling militants in a clash that left hundreds of Somalis and 19 American service members dead.

Pentagon officials said they haven't confirmed whether the captors holding Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Thisted had direct ties to pirates, characterizing them only as criminals. Still, military officials said that some pirates move between trying to capture ships and other criminal activity.

Emmanuel Ksiangani, a senior researcher at the South Africa based Institute for Security Studies who monitors Somalia, said the raid was unlikely to deter kidnappers in that country, parts of which has been buffeted by waves of drought, famine and armed conflict over the last two years.

"This doesn't change the dynamic of these people having no other source of livelihood and so they will try again," said Mr. Ksiangani. "They will use this as a propaganda tool. Even if these were criminal elements, they will say they killed innocent people and try to capitalize on the deaths of Somalis to create resentment against the United States." Wall Street Journal.

Roadshow Hassan Ali Akan Dedah Pekungnya Sendiri

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 07:26 AM PST

Banyak bercakap risiko dedah kelemahan

-SH

Azmin: Pakatan sedia gempur serangan Hasan Ali

Chua Soi Lek Dibidas Cuba Takutkan Cina

Cuba takutkan Cina: DHPP bidas Soi Lek

Hindraf terus bersama ABU

Hindaf terus bersama ABU dan mendokong usaha menukar parti pemerintah kerajaan Malaysia - Waythamoorthy klik

GEORGE TOWN: P Uthayakumar's statement that Hindraf Makkal Sakti has withdrawn its support for the Anything But Umno (ABU) movement is his personal stand, said his brother.

According to Hindraf Makkal Sakti chairman Waythamoorthy, the movement respected Uthayakumar's view, but had reached a collective stand to the contrary.

He said Hindraf's official stand was to fully support and cooperate with ABU because "ousting Umno from Putrajaya is a common goal for all."

"We in Hindraf respect his views though collectively we differ from his personal opinions. Hindraf's voice is a mix of its grassroots supporters, not based on an individual," he added.

Yesterday, Human Rights Party (HRP), Hindraf's political offshoot, information chief S Jayathas issued a statement that a five-member Hindraf supreme council had decided to pull out from ABU.

The statement advised supporters not to attend any future ABU forums, in light of the violent attack on Hindraf activists in Jalan Kebun, Shah Alam on Jan 21.

The statement also listed Uthayakumar as Hindraf's de facto leader.

However, when contacted this morning, Jayathas failed to clarify who appointed Uthayakumar to this post and when was it done.

Asked why Uthayakumar had previously declared Waythamoorthy as Hindraf's leader and that he was only a legal advisor, Jayathas said it was to stop certain quarters from manipulating the issue.

A few minutes later, Jayathas uploaded a 2007 Wikipedia posting on the HRP website which referred to Uthayakumar as "Hindraf de facto leader."

On the five-man supreme council, Jayathas claimed that it was formed well before Hindraf's mammoth street protest on Nov 25, 2007 and its members were P Karuna, P Siva, K Waran, besides Uthayakumar and himself.

Asked why the supreme council was never publicised before, he said: "We laid low. But now, we want to be active."

'We can't do it alone'

Meanwhile, Waythamoorthy stressed that Hindraf's collective official stand was to support any third force from the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak to "dethrone Umno and its mandores from Putrajaya".

He said Hindraf would continue to work in tandem and move forward with any force that had a similar agenda to ABU's.

"We will work with anyone to end Umno and their mandores' atrocities against society, especially the poor and marginalised communities," the London-based activist told FMT.

Hindraf's decision to adopt a multi-pronged strategy and engage with any third party forces to oust Umno was made at the movement's second annual convention held on Dec 4, 2011.

Uthayakumar did not attend the convention.

Waythamoorthy said Hindraf had consistently fought to end Umno's rule but realised that it could not do this on its own.

He said Hindraf's cooperation with third forces against Umno was solely based on a consensus that human rights and equality should be across the board starting with the poorest groups.

He said Hindraf coordinators unanimously agreed that a concerted effort from all parties irrespective of race, religion or creed was the best way to address the issue of the poor and marginalised Malaysian Indians and those in a similar position.

"Hindraf can never do it alone, without cooperating with others who have common goals," he said.

Bekas Mufti: Tiada Masalah Menteri Besar Pegang Portfolio Agama

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 03:46 AM PST

-tvsnews

PETRONAS StreetSmart – Road Safety Inspiration for Adults and Kids

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 02:04 AM PST

Throughout the great many years that I have stayed in KL, and the countless of times I have been to KLCC, never once I step foot at the Petrosains. I always thought that it is for kids to get some informal learning through museum-like exhibits. Okay! I was wrong! I am so sorry! In case you all have been as ignorant as I was, Petrosains is a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS. They manages the visit operations of the world renowned PETRONAS Twin Towers and the interactive science centre, Petrosains, The Discovery Centre.

The Petrosains is actually so interesting! Azman and I was there to check out one of the many sections of the Petrosains and it is called the PETRONAS Street Smart exhibition. The moment I stepped in the place I saw how nice the set up was and how much Miki would love this place, he might not want to leave!

The PETRONAS Street Smart exhibition has been operating for the past 10 years and serves as one of the PETRONAS' key CSR programmes. It aims to continuously encourage science education as well as address current social issues, namely road safety by focusing on science and technology.

Apparently the PETRONAS StreetSmart exhibition which is an interactive Travelling Exhibition, has travelled extensively throughout Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.

Designed with mobility in mind, the exhibition will continue to work around the country reaching beyond urban areas especially into small towns and remote locations. Since its inception, PETRONAS StreetSmart has engaged over 1 million visitors and participants, achieving high levels of participation throughout various communities and schools.

When we were there, we were so privileged to be briefed by Tengku Nasariah Tengku Syed Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Petrosains Sdn Bhd herself. She said "The exhibition was aligned to Petrosains' approach of using a variety of techniques, learning tools and programmes to encourage the appreciation and adoption of road safety awareness among society, especially students from the primary schools."

True enough, the entire exhibition is full with highly interactive exhibits arranged in such a way that they seem to be built along roads and highways. Very interesting indeed, I can pictiure Miki walking (and insisting that his parents also walk within the "roads"  and not breaking any rules. Cute! They have road signs all over… Great for kids to learns the meaning of each one.

Miki would love reading this and 10 million questions based on just one sign! :p

"Safe Riding" exhibits. This educated riders on the risks they face on the road.

Above is me hitting a helmet at the Skull Protector exhibition. This exhibit shows the importance of wearing a SIRIM- approved helmet while riding bikes because dude, I am telling ya…. even my weakest blow to the non-SIRIM helmet could be fatal!

All these exhibitions have been recognised for their relevance and impact since its introduction in 2001.  Since then it has received the full backing of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) who acknowledge the exhibits social value and impact, as well as economic importance.

Above – Azman trying the Buckle Up exhibit, which is probably the stay exhibit here! It allows us to experience forces up to 5 times the body weight simila to those is a crash of about 10km/h. Wow!

Over tak? Sampai 2 orang explained to me this exhibit. Maybe I was so bengap! LOL

Our guide for that day! very nice and friendly!

Heheh! My friend Nannoor was also there! Let's bring our kids there together-gether eh Nannoor? Below are the list of great many activities that children can do here. I highly recomend this place! Really!

For ticketing and booking, you can browse here! They have speacial rates for MyKad holders. Anyway, I am glad that now I know how wonderful Petrosains can be! Although I only check out the Street Smart exhibition belum masuk semua lagi!?!!  I am really eager to take Miki here soon!

So fellow Mommies and Daddies.. How about a toddler outing to Petrosains eh? Let me know!  :)

"Saya hanya mampu melihat kerana semuanya berlaku terlalu pantas," katanya.

-HM

Ribut Di Chemor: 18 Rumah Rosak Teruk

IPOH: Sebanyak 18 rumah rosak teruk manakala empat lagi serta sebuah sekolah agama rakyat (SAR) hampir ranap dihempap pokok besar apabila ribut melanda Kampung Ulu Chemor dekat sini hampir dua jam, malam Isnin.

- BERNAMA

Settling down…

Posted: 26 Jan 2012 12:16 AM PST

It's almost the end of January. I'm done with all the back-to-school stuff except maybe for a few more additional payments here and there for a few families. The children seemed to have settled down including the ones in boarding schools or hostels.

Maya's daughter who went to a fully residential school, initially called her mother during the first week, crying and asking for her mother to take her home, but during the CNY break, Maya told me that her daughter is okay now and in fact is beginning to enjoy the activities at the school.

As for Azman, Sofie's son, after sending him to the culinary school, I will not make it a habit to visit him often although it's just in Ipoh. I want him to become independent. Besides if need be, he can always call/SMS me, and if I feel that I should, then I'd go and see him. If I feel that what he's asking for is something he can settle for himself, I shall let him settle it himself. I'm not here to spoil them rotten, I'm just helping them seek a brighter future for themselves so they can become independent. I do hope that Azman's enthusiasm will continue until he completes the whole course and will not end up as hangat-hangat tahi ayam (google translated that as "warm-hot chicken droppings").

Wina, Fuzi's daughter, will be sitting for her SPM this year, and being someone who is keen to do well in her studies, had already arranged for tuition for herself. She is under our Education Sponsorship program, so the tuition fees will be covered by her sponsor. Her ambition is to become an accountant. I hope she will succeed. Wina is Fuzi's hope to do well and to take care of her younger siblings should anything happen to Fuzi.

As I had always mentioned, our intention is to help these families become independent. I don't intend to help them all their lives. In fact, although I still do keep in touch with Lin, I no longer visit her as often because I see that the family is doing okay now with 2 of her daughters already working. Yes, her 2 younger children are still under sponsorship but at least I don't have to worry much about them.

Of course, there are families who, the more you help them, the more they become dependent on you even though your intention was to help them become independent. The K's for example, would still from time to time attempt to borrow money although I never gave in. We only help out with their children's educational needs, not anything else. Both of them are working – no doubt they don't earn much, but still, they should spend according to their budget.

I still remember asking Hana to list down her children's educational needs. She mentioned a few things in her list, stuff like books, bus fares etc, and at the end of her list, she wrote, "Motosikal RM2,500." Errrk!

Then there was Rosnah, who bought a second hand car when her husband was still alive, so she could easily transport him to the hospital for his appointments. After her husband's death, she wasn't willing to part with the car. Okay, understandable. But just because we helped out with her daughter's schooling needs, she asked if we could help out to pay for her car repairs.

Ah yes, sometimes you help them by giving, sometimes you help them by NOT giving. I just hope I will make the right decisions in determining whether or not to give.

Whatever it is, as coordinator for our Children Education Fund & Education Sponsorship, life is not so hectic for me as it was at the end of last year and early this year. It had however been quite a while since I went for my house visits, and since the schooling matters are almost settled, maybe I should start planning for my house visits - especially those whom I have not visited for quite some time.

BUT… before that, I shall first take a break… my kind of break… I shall go into adventure mode!! I already have some plans with my adventure loving friends over the weekend, so yep, coming right up….

fun ahead

The ABU-Hindraf gathering at Jalan Kebun, Shah Alam on 21 January 2012 that ended up being roughed up by Malay thugs and ruffians allegedly at the behest of UMNO and in connivance with the local police proves that this country is at the verge of a total collapse of civility, respect and tolerance. Viewing the video that was uploaded in several blogs, it was clear that the fracas was started by a group of thugs led by one Muhamad Razali alias Baharom. I do not know if he is from the force or paid by someone to create trouble, but one thing was certain i.e. from the language uttered by the thug, it was derogatory aimed at the Indian community intent at causing a riot.

My question is what if it were an Indian gay that started the fracas and the audience were mainly Malays? I am quite sure there will be a riot and the police will be there in droves and in double quick time making the arrest. What is actually happening to this country today, especially that of the police force that is suppose to protect us? Is the government in control or have they lost the interest to run this country? Or has that responsibility to govern being handed over to the police? Can Home Minister Hishamuddin say something please? Where are the 60,000 security guards that the government has been talking about? Blue Ocean strategy they say.

I am utterly disgusted at the initial response by the state police officer whose remark reflects total ignorance, arrogance, lack responsibility and incompetency. I just wonder where he was when the trouble was brewing. Was he at home or attending a kenduri kahwin somewhere? Wasn't he briefed by his officers or was the briefing given by the thugs themselves? And now he comes up with a statement that they have arrested six people whose age ranges from 16 to 19 years old. But the video shows that the main perpetrator to be someone much older and a fatso. Why hasn't this thug being arrested? Or has he being told to go into hiding until all is safe and clear?

If this is what we call efficiency of the police force, then I beg to differ. If the police had responded well and professionally, they could have affected arrest that same night because there was police presence that was witnessed to the fracas. Obviously the policemen that were there had the slightest clue of how to react and to control the situation. This clearly shows the standard of training of the policemen now that were no better than the Rela guards. I am sorry to say this because I have many police friends, but I believe they too are equally disappointed at the lack of professionalism in the policemen. Had they been some military gays, I would have hit at them much harder.

I do not know if the six and several others will be charged for causing a public disturbance. Whatever the outcome, the punishment must be seen to be punitive and not just a simple fine and a warning. This incident could have caused a racial riot that we do not wish to experience it once more.

Forum Seks Kelab Taat Suami Arqam Diserbu

-HM

Kempen 'Rasulullah Tokoh Seks Suci Islam' rendahkan martabat Nabi Muhammad, tegas Muslimat PAS

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 Jan — Dewan Muslimat PAS menyelar kempen "Rasulullah Tokoh Seks Suci Islam" yang dilancarkan Kelab Taat Suami sambil menegaskan "Islam tidak menjadikan seks sebagai agenda utama."

Ketika dihubungi The Malaysian Insider, Ketua Dewan Muslimat PAS Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff berkata Kelab Taat Suami Malaysia pimpinan Fauziah Ariffin sepatutnya menggunakan kelebihan lain Nabi Muhammad berbanding kehidupan seks.

Begitulah diantara cara-cara bagaimana si iblis memperdaya manusia.

Sabda Nabi saw:

Dari Abu Hurairah, r.a., dari Nabi s.a.w., bahawa Baginda bersabda: "Aku tinggalkan dalam kalangan kamu dua perkara yang kamu tidak sekali-kali akan sesat selagi kamu berpegang teguh kepada keduanya, iaitu kitab Allah dan sunnah Rasulullah," (s.a.w.). (Imam Malik).

'PwC'gate to audit 'Cow'gate?

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:07 PM PST

The latest news is, PriceWaterhouseCoopers will be appointed the auditing firm for National Feedlot Corporation. Its already a market talk, and DPM Muhyiddin Yassin is said to have given it a go.

Why PwC, a firm plagued with 'scandals' and misconstruing its professional ethic? Ask why Maxis boss Ananda Krishnan is mad about it!

Don't we have other credible auditing firm for the job? Being a big name and a foreign-based company does not always guarantee satisfactory result, isn't it?

Apart from scandalising the court (there is an ongoing case against the firm at the Kuala Lumpur High Court) with fabricated evidence and documents, PwC is also believed to tamper with auditing reports for Felda listing.

Read this article here. It posed a question to Muhyiddin: "Tan Sri, can you imagine Chin Kwai Fatt (pic), the MD of PwC Malaysia, and master of document fabrication, auditing Cowgate?"

It says, Chin Kwai Fatt is now trapped by the fact that one of the documents he has fabricated in an ongoing Kuala Lumpur High Court case not only contradicts his own witness statement, but also the amended defense of all the defendants.

And I agree to this - Why is the Auditor General's report not enough for the truth about the NFC to be made public?

A-ahhh... looks like things start to brew again...
