Mustafa Ali Sahkan PAS Akan Tukarkan Anwar Ibrahim Selaku Ketua Pembangkang

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 11:20 AM PDT

Kita memang cadang nak tukar Ketua Pembangkang - Mustafa

KUALA TERENGGANU, 29 Mac: Menjawab soalan sama ada Pakatan Rakyat (PR) bersedia menukar Ketua Pembangkang, Setiausaha Agung PAS, Datuk Mustafa Ali berkata, ya.

-HD

Nalla & Peguamnya Jahil Undang-undang. Timb Speaker Tutup Ruang Lucut Kelayakan Anwar

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 10:39 AM PDT

Tiada Peruntukan Lucut Kelayakan Anwar

-mstar

Ugutan lucut jawatan Anwar tanda jahil undang-undang

Ulasan GB

Sebenarnya Nallakarupan ini membawa suara siapa apabila menyatakan Anwar tidak layak menjadi PM malah Ketua Pembangkang sekalipun?

Sebuah akhbar arus perdana membawa tajuk besar:
"Anwar tak layak jadi PM: Nalla"

Tajuk tersebut sebenarnya hampir sama dengan tajuk
"Najib: Anwar not qualified for PM post"

A Hopeless Situation Beyond Redemption?

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 08:08 AM PDT

Recently, I managed to exchange views with a few friends briefly in the usual fashion of social niceties. I was taken aback by the sheer optimism that my friends displayed in their belief that there would be a change in the government of this country. I confess. I am a pessimist. So, for a change, I put on my political thinking cap and gave careful thought to certain issues that are close to my heart.

The first question that I want to raise is whether our country has successfully addressed economic/social woes such as:
  • poverty and inequalities in income/social class
  • lack of access to health care
  • poor educational standards
  • corruption
  • accountability
  • justice
  • freedom of speech
  • observance and practice of human rights
  • cultural and religious heritage
  • etc etc

Secondly, to what extent have the leaders on BOTH SIDES of the divide demonstrated their political will to bring about change for the country and the leadership to push our nation forward in as many areas?

I reckon it is quite premature for some to think that the Opposition can take over the government. Of course I want to see that happen but realistically, I doubt it can happen in the next GE because of many reasons and I really hope I am WRONG.

It is one thing to talk a lot, to sit behind the computer screen and to be an armchair critic hiding behind a pseudonym or nickname. It is another thing to be out there in the streets working in civil society with like-minded individuals. Not many are ready to sacrifice their time and effort at the grass-root level for the sake of idealism and lofty hopes and ambitions. Personally, I do know a number of people who have selflessly given their best in their endeavour to bring about change in various areas of our society. And I have to say that it is when one works at that level that one really gets to see an accurate picture of what is really happening in our country.

I think we have to be realistic in our expectations for the next general elections and not to be deluded by what some leaders may want us to think or by our own nationalistic hopes. The following part is written very carefully in veiled terms and one would have to read between the lines to get at what I am trying to say. :-(

Some of us may wonder if collective effort is the key to bringing about change rather than the more logical and appropriate 'What can I do to...?'

Now that is on the part of the citizens. But what about on the part of the elected leaders? How much have they done to have earned the right to be selected for re-election? Are there other forces at play? Would candidates be fielded on a merit basis or what?

Did any of the current cohort keep silent in the face of blatant lies? Failure to speak up based on what one believes can be regarded as negligence in executing their duties and responsibilities. An individual is complicit if they recognize a problem and fails to do anything about it. Some may say - it does not concern my constituency but what if it concerns all Malaysians? I was particularly disappointed upon discovering that few actually expressed their concern with regards to the death of the NS trainee at the Terkok Camp in Sungei Siput.

Do we have a situation where people in leadership positions are listening to self-serving, short sighted people who are more interested in concocting wonderful statistics/data/aims/white-washing facts in economics and political data without ever going down to see how people really lived? Worse still, without ever having a heart for the nation except for their own interests or that of their alliances?

The scenery from the ivory tower of leadership must have been viewed through rose-tinted glasses. It is exacerbated if there are leaders who constantly laud and magnify their own successes while being blind to problems in their own backyard. Worse still, some are actually conditioned into thinking that all is fine and anyone who criticizes this wonderful leader must be a traitor.

Life is not about allegiance to leaders but about accountability and sticking to principles, ethics and honesty. But then again, there are those who do what is most politically expedient. Expediency is about attaining an end by focussing on what is convenient and practical in terms of narrow advocacy goals. Does this mean that one could be ignorant when something is wrong morally and ethically?

Whilst we may delude ourselves into thinking that we are armed with knowledge thanks to net connection, we have not been led to a situation whereby we can be masters of our own destiny merely by our vote. Some try to simplify the world in which we live by thinking along those lines. In fact, I feel that the future looks less and less than the past and to me, it has become quite scary and in a strange way - threatening because of the uncertainties that we face.

Idealistically, many of us construct and re-construct what we perceive to be possible scenarios of our future based on whatever theories or write-ups that we have gleaned from various websites. I don't think it is as simple as that. Rather, I reckon that new areas of unpredictability are being created by the same powers/people who try to take control of what they perceive to be threatening. How ironical! And who are the losers?

Are we then in a stage of creative destruction whereby we unconsciously but wilfully destroy what lies before us in transform it into what SOME people may hope to see thanks to their own selfishness? I think we are at that stage where 'progress' can be self-destructive because it begets greed and more greed to the extent that it is no longer a class struggle that we see but change or modernization that is slowly changing the face/nature of society bypassing political debates and important decision-making processes. Is it then a tacit equation of latency and impermanence of social change? I don't know. Is it a hopeless situation whereby there is nothing we can do to change the course of nature or development?

I thought I had some suggestions but when I brought up some ideas, alas, I was made to realize that all that had been done in the past to no avail. Does it imply that the situation is hopeless? When I look at the many issues and the political maturity of some, I think quite pessimistically. I just wonder how many can change their minds just because the way a couple of hundred quid is being doled out. What then lies before us?

I really think we need to take a hard and serious look at all the implications of issues that are before us. Forgive me if I sound too pessimistic. Pardon the rants of an idealist and a once-upon-a-time hopeful pessimist.

No country for righteous men by Commander (Rtd) S THAYAPARAN, formerly of the Royal Malaysian Navy

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 06:45 AM PDT

We have two kinds of morality side by side: one which we preach but do not practice and another which we practice but seldom preach. - Bertrand Russell

COMMENT A long time ago when I attended Sekolah Staf dan Komando (Command) Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (Bagian Laut), I used to have these lengthy discussions with one of the 'dosens' (lecturers), a retired admiral whose quick wit complemented his piercing intellect. The aftershocks of the Iranian Revolution were like tremors reminding the very international (Western and Asian) mix of officers training there of the precarious ground we were standing on in the reality of the rise of political Islam.

Reading Malaysiakini's interview with Yazid Sufaat (left) brought back memories of those discussions which would seem prophetic if not for the fact of hindsight. You have to remember that Indonesia had always struggled with the radical impulses of its Muslim community and beneath this was the simmering ethnic tension being stoked by the powers-that-be.

But what concerned this retired admiral was the threat of radical Islam from Malaysia, which he claimed was the more serious threat to Indonesia. Yazid may just be a lackey, but we have had far too many lackeys causing lethal mischief in the region and specifically in Indonesia - with Jemaah Islamiah bomb-maker Nordin Mat Top being the poster boy for the mendacious nature of the Umno regime with regard to how it promulgates the practice of Islam in this country.

Two Malaysias

The tale of two Malaysias is not only about the hypocritical nature of the manner in which Islam is practiced in this country but more importantly how we as a community react to the Arabisation or Islamisation of this country. The former is easier to identify and the blame rests at the doorstep of the ruling regime. Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has stated that Malaysia is an Islamic country in one of his numerous defences against attacks on Umno's Islamic credentials by PAS.

This is a matter of public record and whether his statement is true is something I have no interest in arguing since I suspect any such discussion would be an exercise in pedantry. It should surprise nobody that the thinking of someone like Yazid could be shaped in this country. His search for a deeper understanding of Islam led him first to his local imam, then to the shores of a foreign land where he is charged with funding sectarian violence.

And when he is finally incarcerated under the ISA, it's done in secrecy and his wife is also threatened and imprisoned for a spell. After seven years, this wanted Islamic terrorist is released because, in his words, he capitulated to the desires of his captors. And after being released, he mocks his captors. What kind of rehabilitation is this? What kind of message is the regime sending to others who share the same philosophy as Yazid?

Recall that Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein (right in photo) lamented the death of Nordin Mat Top and reassured Malaysians that he could have been "rehabilitated". And recall too, that the Malaysian authorities want to reclaim the bodies of Malaysian terrorists who were killed in Philippines. I'll leave it to the readers to decide what kind of message is being sent.

We're taught to fear one another

Gaze at the two faces of Islam that is presented to Malaysians and the world. Prime ministers have talked of Islam Hadhari and the moderate Islam of 1Malaysia but yet in practice they are anything but moderate. The two Alis (Ibrahim and Hasan) are allowed to run riot whipping up religious fervour and the notion of Islam as being under attack is perpetuated by the propaganda organs of the state. Muslims are taught to fear the 'other' while the 'other' is encouraged to fear Islam.

The ruling regime appears always on the side of 'Islam' even though in the name of Islam, great wrongs have been perpetrated against non-Muslims. Take for example the cow-head protest where the home minister sat with the protesters labeling them the aggrieved party even though they were eventually charged in court. How about when reporters for a local Islamic magazine went 'undercover' to a local church investigating claims of conversions and then spat out (and recorded the act) the Holy Communion? What do you think would have happened if Islam was insulted in a similar vein?

And let us not forget the recent 'Allah' controversy where Christians were told they could not use 'Allah' in the Malay edition of the Bible even though its usage was accepted throughout the Muslim world. Is it any wonder that this atmosphere is conducive to the creation of a certain kind of fanatic?

There is a simple axiom that history teaches us that the ruling regime has obviously not grasped. When you set yourself up as keepers of the faith (Islam in this instance), eventually you will find yourself pitted against those who think you are derelict in your obligations. In this case, it's fanatics like Yazid and his ilk.

For some readers (depending on your religious affiliation) quoting the late Christopher Hitchens would seem the height of inappropriateness, but I think it would do us well to remember one of his less acerbic but instructive quotes, which is, "The secular state is the guarantee of religious pluralism. This apparent paradox, again, is the simplest and most elegant of political truths."

Slavish interpretation of religious text

And how do we non-Muslims and 'moderate' Muslims deal with this onslaught of Islamisation? Even though in my comment pieces I have been hard on Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat on their 'tempered' stand, I give them credit for softly participating in the discourse.

I am very well aware how the regime they are up against would twist their words and a stint under the ISA would be the official response. Let's us consider former Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin's (left) defence of Islam as a 'moderate' religion in the face of anti-Semitism and violence that the likes of Umno and Yazid seem recklessly and obsessively (respectively) interested in advocating. Asri's 'moderate' comments have been met by scorn by certain quarters who are more interested in pointing out that Islamic holy text is rife with anti-Jewish sentiment.

Having read these texts, I could also point out the numerous justifications used by other believers of other religions to justify their prejudice and bigotry. The banning of Seksualiti Merdeka for instance was met with approval from not just certain Muslims but also Christians based on their own religious dogma.

And for all this talk of Muslim anti-Semitism what is rarely addressed is the insidious Christian variety of the evangelical kind that fund settlements in the illegally occupied territory in Gaza in the belief that the rapture would lead to the conversion of Jews to Christianity.

I can understand why some 'moderate' Muslims are unnerved of speaking up. When they do, they are reminded of the fact that although their own religious convictions are not dependent on a slavish interpretation (like most other 'moderate' adherents of other religions) of religious text, the religion itself is blamed for everything wrong in this country and the world.

Asri's response to Hindraf

Although I don't have a problem with the defence of Islam as a 'moderate' religion with regard to the Jewish question and terrorism, I doubt Asri's sincerity when it comes to anything to do with Islam or race relations in this country. And let's face it, in this country religion and race are intimately entwined. I suppose Asri's response to the Hindraf demonstration and Indian community grievances was not that of a compassionate Muslim but that of a supremacist Malay.

Here's what he said, for those who can't recall: "Sangat hina kehidupan mereka di dalam negeri mereka.

If Asri as a Malay can't see the inequality of his own multiracial society, how can he as a Muslim reflect on the moderate nature of Islam? And therein lies the rub. For years we have been so excluded from the discourse that any noise that conforms to our expectations is greeted with relief and applause. Any political party which superficially addresses these racial and religious problems is viewed as a saviour.

I realise that I sound like a broken record but if we don't attempt to address these issues in an honest and open manner, we will never be a united country no matter which political alliance governs us. Malaysiakini.

Apabila Mahathir Melihat Dalam UMNO Dah Terlalu Banyak Lembu-lembu....

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 08:36 AM PDT

Turut hadir Ketua Menteri Melaka Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Moo sana moo sini bak kata si kartunis Zunar.

DHIMMITUDE - it does appear so innocuous

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 06:12 AM PDT

What does this word mean ? Obama used it in the health care bill. Now isn't this interesting? It is used in the health care law.

Dhimmitude I had never heard the word until now, nor did barely anyone unless they read the ObamaCare Bill. Type it into Google and start reading. Pretty interesting. It's on page 107 of the healthcare bill. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists. It is a REAL word.

Word of the Day: Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

ObamaCare allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Does anyone find that odd… and frightening? Folks, this is exclusively an Islamic concept under Sharia Law. So exclusive they had to make up an English word to define the concept. Why would our government start interjecting Sharia Law concepts into new broad and sweeping legislation like health care reform that would control the US population? ….Anyone?

Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking", and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient. So a Christian (Jew, Buddhist, Aethiest, etc) , will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of their assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because they refuse to buy health insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan and all other U.S. Muslims will have no such penalty and will have 100% of their health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-Muslims paying a tax to subsidize Muslims. This is Sharia Law definition of… Dhimmitude. This is not a Western Civilization concept

Dhimmit has two purposes: To enrich Muslims AND to drive conversions to Islam. "Sure, I'll be a Muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?" (not for me, I will suffer first). So… are you asking yourself, why would our president and the people who wrote the healthcare bill put this in there??? I recommend sending this post to your contacts. This is desperately important and people need to know about it — quickly!

This really is happening in your country. A fraction at a time.

Wake up America ! They're coming in the back door.To check it out on Snopes click here: Health Insurance Exemptions. Askmarion.

My Genarasi - Video That Brought Back Young Memories

My Genarasi – Video That Brought Back Young Memories – This is a good video to share with you guys. It's a short film made by Jinnyboy from Hitz.fm and it's really brought back the memories during young days in the primary school and secondary school.

My Genarasi - Video That Brought Back Young Memories

Thinking back to the days, it's fun and really naive, and happy too. Remember you brought cool school bags to school? Remembers those trolley bag with cartoons on it? It's really funny, when seeing other people has a better stationery set and myself wanted one too. Autograph book was like a indirect way to get a girls contact during primary school, so that I can hide the shuness inside of me. Haha. Who's need autograph book now when there's Facebook?

My Genarasi - Video That Brought Back Young Memories

The eraser rubber flipping game was very stupid too, it was a heat during form 2 where everyone has their own 'rubber' and 'battle' with each other in class. Pepsi-cola, beer bottle cap game and more, are all from my time, wonder what's with today's kids? Spamming on Facebook wall? DotA all day long? Or iPad iPad iPad? =D

[Bergambar] Kebakaran Di Suria KLCC, Orangramai Kosongkan Bangunan

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 06:07 AM PDT

Anwar: SPR Terus Melakukan Penipuan

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 03:56 AM PDT

"Saya fikir kita perlu duduk bersama mereka lagi.

-mc

Mayat Bayi Dalam Beg Dikerumuni Anjing Liar

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 02:32 AM PDT

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 12:58 AM PDT

As a pre-schooler, I would croon the Mandarin version of Historia de un Amor without really knowing what I was singing.

The strains of "Wa Ti Xin Chi Yeo Ni May Yeo Tar..." would fill my grandmother's house when the cousins got together for sing-song or dance sessions. Yours truly, being one of the youngest, would be in the shadows watching the older ones do Latin dance practices.

It was only much later that I realized how this song is Historia De Un Amor written by someone from Latin America.

According to Wikipedia:

Historia de un Amor (Spanish for "a love story") is a song about a man's old love written by Panamanian songwriter Carlos Eleta Almarán. It was written after the death of his brother's wife. It is also in the soundtrack of a 1956 Mexican movie of the same name starring Libertad Lamarque.

The song tells of a man's suffering after his love has disappeared. It may be interpreted that love is a story for a woman but it's just an episode for a man. It was sung or played by many artists: Guadalupe Pineda, Eydie Gormé & Trio Los Panchos, Los Paraguayos, Nicola Di Bari, Abbe Lane, Julio Iglesias, Angélica María, Nana Mouskouri, George Dalaras, Perez Prado, Laura Fygi, Iva Zanicchi, Dizzy Reece, Pedro Infante, Dalida, Ana Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Yasar, Lili Boniche, Los Tres Ases, Dany Brillant, Sargis Maghakyan Sr., etc. In the film "Visage" by Tsai Ming-liang it was sung by Laetitia Casta. It has also been heavily covered in Chinese, with at least 3 sets of lyrics.

This is the translation for the lyrics:

You're no longer by my side, my love,
And there' only loneliness in my soul.
And if I can no longer see you,
Why did God make me love you
To make me suffer more.

You were the reason for my existence.
Adoring you, for me, was religion.
In your kisses I've waited,
For the warmth given me,
By love and passion.

That's the history of a love.
Which has no equal,
That made me understand,
All that's good, all that's bad,
That gave light to my life,
Then turned it off.
Oh what a dark life.
Without your love I will not live.
That's the history of a love.

This one is supposedly the best Mandarin version:

I also love the  version sung by Edyie Gorme and Trios Los Panchos which you can watch AT THIS LINK.

The French version is called Histoire D'un Amour made famous by Dalida which you can enjoy AT THIS LINK.

Here's a more romantic version by Laura Fygi AT THIS LINK.

Nana Mouskouri gives a more upbeat version AT THIS LINK.

And a very romantic version HERE by Luz Casal.

Finally, a Flamenco version can be enjoyed AT THIS LINK.

Do leave a comment to share your views/memories of this song....Thanks!

Harga Minyak Naik Lagi Jika BN Menang PRU Nanti

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 12:31 AM PDT

Melayu Ridhuan Tee dakwa Dong Zong KOMUNIS!?

Posted: 28 Mar 2012 10:02 PM PDT
