Syabas Kelantan: Pertumbuhan Kelantan Lebih Pesat Mengatasi KDNK Negara

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 11:22 AM PDT

-HD

Tapak pasar diganti dengan apartmen 25 tingkat

KOTA BHARU, 5 April: Lot 1910 Seksyen 54, yang dahulunya terdapat sebuah pasar yang dikenali Pasar Kubang Kerian, bakal berubah wajah apabila satu unit apartmen 25 tingkat yang bernilai RM115 juta siap kelak.

Projek berkenaan diurus Syarikat Sentosa Jaya Development Sdn Bhd dengan kerjasama Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan, Majlis Perbandaran Kota Bharu Bandaraya Islam (MPKB-BRI).

-HD

Ulasan GB

Ia mengesahkan lagi bahawa PM, Datuk Seri Najib Razak memang seorang PENDUSTA apabila beliau menyatakan Kelantan negeri termiskin.

A Touch of Kindness

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 09:44 AM PDT

Some of you would have been aware that I was ill for two months from January till early March. Despite visits to the doctors and even an expensive ENT specialist at a private hospital, I could not recover completely until God made a way for me.

I seldom exchange emails with readers because not many readers write to me :-). But a few months ago, one particular reader whom I have never spoken to or chatted with in any medium, started writing to me. Initially we exchanged views on our children and later on, the exchange was mainly on health issues.

It was this reader's touch of kindness in my life that gave me the breakthrough.

Sometimes, strangers are kinder than people we know.

On one fateful morning, I was informed that his friend would pass some Chinese herbs to me.

That friend of his called me and we arranged to meet at a nearby petrol station so that I could pick up the herbs.

Sharp on time, the gentleman appeared and passed me four bottles of capsules. I called the number of the Chinese physician who prepared the capsules and received clear instructions.

Shortly after that, I drove to my one and only girlfriend's home in Penang and took the medication. Two hours later, I really felt much better and the post-nasal drip just disappeared completely within 2 days.

I have saved half of the medication for a rainy day that I hope will not come :-).

Thank you so much YK for your kindness, generosity and the love of God shed abroad in your heart. Even though we have never met and I have never even heard your voice nor do I know what you look like, I thank God that in this cold cruel world where people turn away so easily, you have reached out to touch my life with your kindness and to share the herbal preparation that really made a difference. God bless you and A who sent me the medication.

Special thanks also to Uncle Khoo Soo Hay who took the trouble to email me specific instructions as to where I could get medication and even offered to buy me those medication and for me to collect it from his office when I said it was quite difficult for me to drive there. Thank you, Uncle Soo Hay, for writing to me a few times to ask about my health.

Thanks also to KS Cheah and other readers and friends who prayed for me, called me or wrote to me. Thanks to Walla who sent me websites that gave sound advice on chronic sinusitis.

In another incident when I had severe gastric cramps, another doctor friend unexpectedly passed my some medication at a meeting. Again, I was touched by kindness.

You might be wondering why I am writing this post. Well, after the previous angry post, I told myself I have to think of something positive and recalled the times when special individuals had touched my life.

Even though there could be many individuals who can be cold-hearted or indifferent, I know there is hope for mankind as long as there are those of us who dare to be different and to reach out in love.

Take care and God bless you and yours always.

Will Bersih 3.0 clean up the Election Cheats of EC?

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — Election watchdog group Bersih 2.0 confirmed today it will hold its third rally for free and fair elections on April 28. This time, the rally, which will go on from 2pm to 4pm at Dataran Merdeka, will include simultaneous protests at various venues in the peninsula and east Malaysia, as well as across the globe.

At a press conference to announce the rally here, Bersih 2.0 co-chairman Datuk A. Samad Said said "Bersih 3.0" was necessary to warn Malaysians that the country is about to face its "dirtiest" polls to date.

The soft-spoken national laureate said, this time, the rally should draw at least 500,000 people as it will be held at several locations nationwide and across the globe.

"When I walk anywhere, people would call me and ask me when (the rally will be held). From that interaction, the many emails, meetings and through Facebook, I predict that there will be at least 500,000 people this time," he told the packed room at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH).

He expressed the 84-member coalition's disappointment over the parliamentary select committee's (PSC) 22-point electoral reforms proposal, saying that despite the Najib admistration's repeated assurances and promises, the panel had failed to introduce meaningful reforms to the election system.

"Neither the government nor the PSC appears to have taken a serious view of the many allegations of fraud. Both have glossed over the disenfranchisement of so many citizens both overseas and within Malaysia.

"Many of the other matters that so many Malaysians have painstakingly and diligently presented to the PSC have not been comprehensively considered," the white-haired Samad Said said, reading from a statement in Malay.

He demanded the resignation of the entire Election Commission (EC) over their alleged disregard to reform the polls processes, earning applause from around him.

"The EC has failed in its responsibility, and lost the confidence of the public. They must resign," he firmly said.

Samad Said added that Malaysians must voice their disappointment with the government and the EC and protest against continuing fraud and the "obvious lack of commitment" from the authorities to implement reforms in time for the coming 13th general election.

"As such, Bersih 2.0 will gather, sit and protest in a peaceful manner across the nation and around the world.

"This is to express our deep disappointment with a government that continues to manipulate the electoral system to their advantage," he announced.

"Bersih 2.0, comprising 84 non-governmental organisations, call upon Malaysian citizens wherever they are who love this country to participate in this sit-in.

"It will be a time for reflection by all Malaysians, particularly those in power, as to the kind of legacy and future we intend to leave to the next generation.
"This is Bersih 3.0," he said.

The PSC's final 22-point report was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday and was approved without debate after opposition lawmakers refused to accept the Speaker's decision to reject the inclusion of a minority report to the panel's final findings.

The minority report was to record the views and assertions by the panel's three Pakatan Rakyat (PR) members, who had rejected four of the 22 recommendations issued in the report.

Also speaking at the press conference, Bersih 2.0 co-chairman Datuk S. Ambiga said the coming rally would focus on three key issues - that the EC should resign; the election process must be reformed before the 13th general election; and that international observers should be invited to monitor the polls.

She added that the coalition would be sending weekly reports to the Human Rights Council in Geneva to keep them updated on the event, particularly to draw focus to any event of human rights abuses that may occur before or during the April 28 event.

"We want to keep them aware on how Bersih 3.0 will be handled," she said.

Ambiga, who was arrested during the last rally, said the iconic Dataran Merdeka is not scheduled to host any other event on April 28 and should be available for the event.

She said the coalition was looking forward to discussing the event with the police and any government authority to ensure that the protest would run smoothly and without any violence.

"Security is our top priority," she said, adding that she hoped the police would offer help to keep participants in check.
"Any kind of aggression will not be tolerated. We will be the first to hand over culprits to the police, you can be assured of that," the former Bar Council president said.

Bersih 3.0 will make the same eight demands as its second instalment last July 9, including : cleaning of the electoral roll, reforms to postal voting, the use of indelible ink, free and fair access to media, a minimum 21-day campaign period, the strengthening of public institutions, a stop to political corruption, and an end to "dirty" politics.

Bersih 2.0's last rally on July 9 had drawn a crowd of thousands to the streets of the capital, despite the government's earlier warning that participants would be arrested.

Opposition lawmakers and Bersih leaders had promised the gathering would stay peaceful but chaos had broken out at midday when riot police used tear gas canisters and chemical-laced water to disperse protestors.

The government's high-handed approach in cracking down on the rally had earned it widespread criticism in the foreign media, leading to the Najib administration's decision to enact the Peaceful Assembly Act to regulate future public gatherings.

The PSC was later mooted in October last year as a part of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's pledge to reform the election process.

After 13 meetings, six public hearings and one fact-finding mission to several countries abroad, the bipartisan nine-member panel finally completed its findings on Monday and tabled it to Parliament yesterday.

But to Bersih 2.0 and PR lawmakers, the 22 recommendations had fallen far short of their expectations as it had not touched on specific issues of manipulation in the voter registry and failed to offer a commitment that the reforms would be implemented in time for the coming election.

Among others, Ambiga said today that the PSC report had not made any mention of election offences and stopping dirty politics, which are among Bersih 2.0's key demands.

Kes Task Force Beri IC Serupa Kes Lembu NFC, Lagi Dinafi Lagi Banyak Terdedah Nanti

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 09:42 AM PDT

Mahfuz pertahan dakwaan 'task force' wujud

-HD

Mahfuz reka 'cerita karut jahat', kata SPR

Sehinggalah Suruhanjaya Diraja dibentuk akhirnya pekung SPRM sendiri terdedah satu demi satu.

Dalam kes lembu NFC pula. Suami Sharizat panggil sidang media menafikan.

Rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqin waj'alli min ladunka sulthanan nashiran wa qul ja alhaqqu wa zawaqal bathilu innal bathila kana zahuqan

Hospitalised again

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 07:16 AM PDT

While doing some accounting work at home yesterday, I received a text message from a client, 'Mkck Fizah, mama masuk hospital." It wasn't the client herself who sent the message, but her son who's looking after his mother at the ward. The client? Sofie, and the son, Saiful, the 14 year old boy who can easily pass off as a primary school kid.

It didn't come as a surprise to me, really. Sofie was very frail-looking the last I visited her, and knowing her appointment would be this week, Sofie herself had expected to be warded after her appointment with the doctor.

The SMS came in only after 6 pm, so I decided to visit her only today. And thinking that parking would be easier after 2 pm, I figured I might as well visit after the afternoon visiting hours. I do have my special pass, so there shouldn't be any problem going into the ward.

So after 2pm this afternoon, I left home and headed straight to the hospital… only to find out that parking was still not that easy to get, BUT it was indeed easier than in the mornings. At least I got to park at a designated parking area rather than having no choice but to park elsewhere and walk to the hospital like I usually had to do whenever I went for my clinic duties on Wednesday mornings.

Getting into the lifts shouldn't have been a problem either at that time, but as part of my Kinabalu training programme, I am determined to use the stairs as much as possible. So yep, I decided to walk all the way up and managed to reach the 8th floor in 3 minutes.

Saiful had gone down to the canteen to buy some food, while Sofie was sleeping on her bed. I touched Sofie's hands to check if she was really asleep or was just closing her eyes trying to sleep. She opened her eyes. Some young nurses were writing down some reports but when they saw me helping Sofie to sit, they immediately came to help. My hospital pass just had "Pas Khas" written on it (with my photo, name and IC number) without indicating my position or who I represent, so the nurses must have been extra cautious in case I was someone higher up in authority… :-)

Anyway, the doc had to immediately stop Sofie's present HAART line, keep her off ARV for 3 months before deciding on which combination of ARV should be given for her to start her HAART again.

As I had expected, Saiful and his younger sister Ika had been missing school because while Saiful is looking after his mother at the hospital, Ika is too young to be staying on her own, and so she now stays at her aunt's house nearer to Ipoh. Their schools are in another town where they live. Even if Sofie gets discharged, she'd be too weak to take care of herself, so she and the 2 kids will be staying at her sister's house as well. Nearer to Ipoh and nearer to get to the hospital. I think I'll figure out how to sort their problems later, when Sofie gets discharged.

Later tonight, Sofie's sister called. She went to visit at the hospital and while Sofie was too embarrassed to ask me earlier, the sister asked if I could arrange to get a wheelchair for Sofie when she gets discharged. I told the sister I will arrange for it. To me it shouldn't be a big problem. If I can't get donors, we can always use our Clients Welfare Fund to buy one for her. But I updated this info on my facebook status, and within minutes I had 2 donors interested to sponsor a wheelchair or to at least to donate part of the cost.

That problem settled, next thing is to shop around for one… I need to see the different models and do some price comparison…

Terbukti Najib Pendusta: Aset NFC Tidak Dibekukan Tetapi Sedang Dilupuskan

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 08:25 AM PDT

PKR: NFC sedang lupuskan aset

Najib tipu apabila kata aset NFC dibekukan Oleh Rafizi Ramli

1. Semua pegangan syarikat, saham dan pelaburan di dalam apa-apa entiti yang dibuat selepas tahun 2007, iaitu selepas NFCorp dianugerahkan kontrak RM250 juta untuk mengusahakan Pusat Fidlot Kebangsaan;

2. Semua hartanah, plot tanah dan pelaburan di dalam bidang hartanah yang dibuat selepas tahun 2007, sama ada pembelian di buat atas nama NFC, syarikat-syarikat yang dikuasai oleh pemilik NFC atau pun atas nama mereka sendiri;

Hartanah 1

Alamat:

B-00-22
Plaza Damas 3
No 63, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1
Taman Sri Hartamas
50480 Kuala Lumpur
Jenis: Tingkat bawah, kedai pejabat 3 tingkat
Harga dilupuskan kepada Insun Development Sdn Bhd: RM1.5 juta

Hartanah 2

Alamat: B-01-22
Plaza Damas 3
No 63, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1
Taman Sri Hartamas
50480 Kuala Lumpur
Jenis:Tingkat 1, kedai pejabat 3 tingkat
Harga dilupuskan kepada
Insun Development Sdn Bhd: RM759,000

Hartanah 3

Alamat:B-02-22
Plaza Damas 3
No 63, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1
Taman Sri Hartamas
50480 Kuala Lumpur
Jenis:Tingkat 2, kedai pejabat 3 tingkat
Harga dilupuskan kepada
Insun Development Sdn Bhd:RM741,000

Gambar Individu Terlibat Kes Letup Tandas LRT Diedarkan

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 06:21 AM PDT

On The Dragon's Demises', semalam.

The ROT Continues

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 03:36 AM PDT

Frankly, the quality of life in Penang is NOT getting any better. In fact, it is worsening. I am truly in a very foul mood today because I am fed up with INCONSIDERATE PENANGITES!!!!!

Some love to drive/ride their motorcycles on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD

Example 1
When I went to the nearby market this morning, I was singing my favourite Beatles tune when suddenly, this motorcyclist came at a nerve-wrecking speed in the WRONG DIRECTION along the ONE-WAY street.

My life must have been shortened by 10 minutes.

Example 2
Mind you, this is not the first time it has happened to me. It happened to me yesterday when driving my son home from his piano class. This car suddenly decided to drive on the wrong side of the road and I flashed many times from afar but SHE did not move back into the correct lane.

And I refused to budge.

I kept flashing my headlights at her and she kept moving in my direction.

And I refused to budge. Yes, I am very headstrong!

When her bumper almost kissed mine, she suddenly swerved and moved into the right lane. Can you imagine???

Example 3
This also happened to me a few weeks ago when I was driving home along the street where I live. The white four-wheel drive was on the wrong side of the road and I flashed and flashed but no reaction. Unlike the situation yesterday, this driver was male and was moving at a fast speed. Finally, I honked and honked and then only did he suddenly decide to follow the law and moved into the CORRECT LANE.

SOME LOVE TO DOUBLE PARK
If you are a Penangite and have some time on your hands, please drive to the shophouses in Island Glades. You can see how cars are DOUBLE-PARKED indiscriminately in front of the shops in front of Genting Coffee Shop, at the junction, in front of the homes of residents nearby and you would pull your hair out in frustration!

At E-Gate yesterday, after I came out of the Samsung Service Centre, I could not get out of the car park lot as someone had INCONSIDERATELY parked behind mine. I waved at the passenger in the front seat and he DID NOT MOVE. I waved again and he suffered from serious inertia. Finally, I began walking towards him and he got out of the car so I walked to my car. Then to my chagrin, he walked back to the passenger seat. HAIYO!!!! Can you beat that? And he sat there, waited for the driver to come. So the driver came and got into the driver's seat and I am  not sure if they were exchanging lovey-doveys because she took such a longgggg time to start the engine to buzz off. Honestly, don't these people have any BRAINS or CONSCIENCE? If they want to double park, have the courtesy to wait in the driver's seat to be ready to drive off when people come by. Even then, they should do this only in extreme cases when in an emergency and NOT to cause inconvenience to others.

SOME LOVE TO PARK THEIR CARS AT JUNCTIONS AND INCONVENIENCE OTHERS

Example 1
I had a mild gastric attack this afternoon and after picking up my son from school, I drove to the neighbourhood pharmacy to get my usual medication. After paying, I drove off slowly along the service road in front of the row of shop houses. When I reached the junction, I was stuck. I could not turn out of the service road.

On my left were three motorcycles parked in non-parking zones. On my right was an inconsiderate WOMAN who had parked her car at the junction where we had to turn right along the one way street.

To top it all, on either side of the junction were TWO huge lorries who were parked haphazardly blocking the flow of traffic.

And to exacerbate matters, on the other side of the road was a Volvo parked in front of the house opposite.

That meant that:

a) I could not get out of the service road for even if I did, I would not be able to turn right
b) Even if I could turn right by a stroke of luck, I would not be able to straighten my car and drive safely home because of all the obstruction caused by the idiotic woman in the kancil, the idiotic motorcyclists, the thoughtless lorry drivers and the owner of the Volvo.

I am very sure smoke was coming out of my ears.

Naturally, I honked.

And the woman in the Kancil SCOLDED ME and gesticulated with her hands and indicated that I was incapable of driving.

Boy oh boy, I had to exercise RESTRAINT.

I honked and honked my way through and was stuck as predicted. I could not turn right thanks to the lorry driver who just STOOD THERE AND WATCHED ME.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

And he did not move his lorry.

Neither did the brainless woman in the Kancil.

Neither did the owners of the motorcycles or the Volvo.

Finally, the oncoming car on the left stopped for me to move forward behind the Volvo, and then to reverse, and then forward and then reverse and then forward and then reverse before I could finally make my way home.

SOME LOVE TO THROW RUBBISH WHEN DRIVING
Have you ever been kissed by bits of rubbish thrown by stupid inconsiderate drivers or their passengers? I have seen:

* empty cigarette boxes
* tissue papers probably soaked with mucus or snoot or whatever
* parking tickets
* empty tetrapack drinks
* slips of paper

And what do I do??? HONK OF COURSE! Haiyo! Do they think the world is an open rubbish dump or what? Idiots!

Honestly, what is wrong with people nowadays. I was with a few expat friends yesterday evening and they complained endlessly about the hopeless lack of enforcement in this island!

One of them gave the example of clamping cars that are parked indiscriminately along Beach Street.
She said that most enlightened ones know that the police there have only TWO CLAMPS. So that afternoon, when one of the cars was being clamped after another had been clamped, this driver pulled up in front of them, double-parked, got out of the car and then looked at the people doing the clamping and promptly and nonchalantly walked coolly into the bank.

Now that is blatant disregard of the law for you.

And why?

Because some think of THEMSELVES.

Some have no regard for others and have never heard of civic consciousness at all. Some could not give a damn if what they do affects others most inconsiderately.

There are situations where some with a conscience try to obey the law and then they encounter hiccups in the system and see how preferential treatment is given to those who 'you-know-what'. Hence, even if they wanted to be model citizens, in time, they succumbed and did what they others were doing for otherwise, they argue that they would be waiting till forever!

I think the whole country has to be educated to THINK.

To think not only of themselves but OTHERS and most of all to think of the collective good of this nation. Ya ya ya, idealistic and FOOLISH thinking cos that is UNLIKELY to HAPPEN.

It is so easy for many  just go with the flow and NOT think for themselves. A very good case is Penang.

So many think Penang is getting better because the statistics show a positive movement hence so and so must be a good leader/group or whatever. Shallow thinking indeed. One has to look beyond such COSMETICS!

I beg to differ.

Take a drive up to Penang and you can see the HORRIBLE traffic jams in Penang at almost every single area. If the authorities are not even capable of solving the current traffic problem, how and why are they thinking of a THIRD link that will exacerbate the traffic problem? Illogical.

Now you know why I HATE TO GO ANYWHERE. Home is the best place.

I told my expat friends that I will retire in Taiping and they were aghast with horror and told me horror stories about swiftlet farming there and other malaise that had struck there.

That made me wonder.

What on earth is happening to Malaysia? I am NOT talking about politics.

Good heavens! If we cannot show concern to the man on the street when we drive, what does it show about the civic consciousness of citizens?

I am sick and fed up of rude, cold and blase individuals. I am tired of hypocrisy. Tired of people who use people. Those who hide behind masks. Some who seem to have multiple personalities and can swing from one side to the other.  For me, I believe the last few months have been defining months.

I have given up my foolish hopes and ideals for this country. My blood boils:

  • when I see how people drive
  • when I see how developers are being given the opportunity to RAPE THE HILLS and build scary-looking apartments on hill-stops with almost complete disregard of the environment the impact of such construction on soil movement and safety of the nearby residents
  • when I see the horrible standard of English displayed by secondary students
  • when I see the inability of students to think for themselves
  • when I see the simplistic view of some who think just going to the ballot box and putting a tick will enable them to change the government (pleaselah - there is so much more to do than just rant)
  • when I see how some MPs or ADUNs do not keep their election promises
  • when I see how the character of Penang is slowly being eroded in the name of development
  • when I hear about how three artificial islands will be built in the Tanjung Tokong/Bungah area
  • when I see how MOST Penangites do not ask the state government to show us the structure plan and to justify the pace of development and yet continue to be deluded into thinking that everything is beautiful, with blue skies and everything nice
  • when I see how hawkers charge higher prices but give lower quality dishes in SMALLER proportions
  • when I see how some political leaders are only nice to you IF they think you can do something for them and if they know you are unwavering in your centrist objective stand, it is bye bye honey. They would not even go near you with a flag-pole!
  • when I see how more than ever, less and less emphasis is placed on relationships, ties and people are becoming colder and colder.
etc etc etc

I am deeply saddened.

And so I put lots of jokes in my blog. Hoping that will blow the blues away and even entertain the cybertroopers who visit my blog regularly thinking I will write something political. Sorry lah - they should go visit other political blogs instead of wasting their time here for this is a cynical and skeptical masterwordsmith who has had a hard knock on her head to see reality as it is! I have given up my small ambitions and dreams.

Really, I have had it up TO MY HEAD with inconsiderate idiotic people who only think about themselves themselves and no one else but themselves. Until and unless we take our eyes off ourselves, we can never move forward! And we will be victims to those who spin simplistic solutions to solve the problems in this country. And why, cos many don't THINK. Many don't really care. They think they do but all they seem to do is to care about themselves. :-( What they can get out of this or that person.

How can a modern society degenerate to this level????

It is so frustrating and there is no place for me to go but to hide at home.

Sighs.

End of rant.

Call it a pre-menopausal outburst of some sort.

:-(

This is probably the angriest post I have ever written in my life and I know I put my head on the chopping board by voicing such concerns. But it is the truth.

Unless and until authorities are READY TO ENFORCE the LAW without fear or favour, we are likely to be breeding a new generation of blase individuals who never grew up with a conscience, who do not care about their neighbours, who have complete disregard for the environment and society at large.

Quo vadis, Malaysia?

20 Pelajar Keracunan Selepas Minum Susu 1Malaysia

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 05:16 AM PDT

-SH

- Bernama

Macam-macam Hal, Ketua Ajaran Ahmad 100 Mahu 13 Isteri

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 03:06 AM PDT

Shah Alam - Wajah muda, penampilan menarik, malah petah berkata-kata.

Rumah tangga hancur lebur

Dia mula menyedari bahawa ajaran Ahmad terpesong, namun gagal berbuat apa-apa kerana setiap pergerakan isterinya dipantau pengikut setia Ahmad.

-SH

My Tilite ZRA Series 2 – One Year After Review

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 12:27 AM PDT

My first wheelchair was an Everest & Jennings. At RM1,800, it cost as much as a Honda C70 motorcycle then. It was foldable with full reclining back, removable full support headrest, detachable armrests, and removable and elevating legrests. It was heavy like a tank and handled like one. My weak hands made it even more difficult to propel. I yearned for a smaller and lighter wheelchair.

Over the next two decades, I went through three standard folding wheelchairs with detachable armrest and footrests. In between that, I also had an Etac, a rigid frame wheelchair that was one size too small. I moved on to my first customised folding wheelchair in 2007. The Max Pleasure Synergy set me back more than RM5,000. Unfortunately, the axle broke just after three years.

Fed up with having to repair broken axles and other parts of wheelchair frames every now and then, I decided that I wanted a rigid wheelchair. With less moving parts, there are less probabilities of parts breaking down. Compared with folding wheelchairs, a rigid wheelchair has less flex of the frame. This translates to a more efficient push. I narrowed the search down to the Tilite ZRA Series 2 which is an ultralight rigid titanium wheelchair. As it would be custom-built, precise measurements were needed. It was also to be the most expensive I had ever paid for a wheelchair.

I did extensive research on getting the right measurements and accessories, mostly at the CareCure Community, a forum for people living with spinal cord injury. After an exhaustive two-month of reading up on the experience of people using similar wheelchairs, asking questions and getting good advice and suggestions, I felt that I was ready and placed my order with Bike-On, an online store dealing in wheelchairs and handcycles.

Computer aided design printout of my Tilite ZRA Series 2 wheelchair
CAD of my Tilite ZRA Series 2 wheelchair.

The following are the final measurements for the wheelchair:

Rear seat width: 16″ (no taper)
Seat depth: 17″
Front seat height: 19″
Rear seat height: 15.5″
Cushion: Supracor Stimulite Sport
Front frame angle: 85 degrees
Seat to footrest: 15.5"
Footrest: Titanium with flat ABS cover, 4″ narrow than rear seat width (1.5″ taper)
Seat back type: Folding titanium adjustable height that locks when folded
Tishaft back release bars: Titanium
Integrated push handles
Seat back: Medium folding set at 16″ + 4″ deep rigidizer bar
Seat back angle: 95 degrees
Centre of gravity: 2″
Rear wheel spacing: 1″
Camber: 2 degrees (Titanium)
Front casters: 5″ x 1″ plastic wheels with poly tires
Front forks: Tilite standard
Rear wheel: 24″ Spinergy Spox (black)
Rear wheel tires: Schwalbe Marathon Plus Evolution
Axel: Stainless steel quick release
Handrims: Aluminium, long tab
Wheel locks: Uni Locks, pull to lock
Back upholstery: Black, tension adjustable by straps
Seat upholstery: Tension adjustable bolt-on
Side guards: Aluminium rigid removable
Armrests: Swing away flip-back tubular

Tilite ZRA Series 2
Tilite ZRA Series 2 ultralight titanium Wheelchair.

I have used the Tilite ZRA Series 2 for slightly more than one year now. The measurements for the wheelchair were almost perfect and needed no adjustment when I took delivery of it. Credit must certainly go to the members of Care Cure Community Forum who gave valuable feedback and comments. Having said that, I also understand better now how the wheelchair can be further fine tuned for an even better fit.

My posture has improved termendously. My feet sit flat on the footrest although I now would prefer the footrest to be positioned further forward at 80 degrees instead of the current 85 degrees. Being tucked in like that is causing poor circulation and edema of the feet. Otherwise, the positioning of my legs and feet have reduced occurrences of spasms.

The folding backrest had some play to it when upright. The locking stud on the left kept coming loose and had to be tightened often. One of the pins in the folding mechanism also kept slipping out. This was a known fault of the ZRA Series 2. Tilite redesigned the mechanism to resolve the issues. I requested for a replacement through Bike-On. It was delivered via UPS several weeks later. A big thumbs up to Tilite and Bike-On for this painless process.

The first few months using the Tilite standard forks and plastic front casters gave me a bumpy and uncomfortable ride. I could even feel the bumps while rolling across the thin gaps of tiled floors. The ride became significantly smoother after the forks and casters were replaced with Frog Legs Uni Tines and aluminium Epic soft roll casters. Besides, hair that used to get wound round the axles were drastically reduced.

Other than the position of the footrest that I would like changed, I am also considering a rigid backrest, rigid seat pan and the Q-Grip handrims. The rigid backrest and seat pan could provide better support and at the same time further improve my posture. However, I need to add an extra inch to the seat depth to accommodate the rigid backrest which means I cannot install it on my current wheelchair. The Q-Grip handrims are coated with non-slip neoprene. This will allow me to push the wheelchair more efficiently which my weak hands cannot do with the current anodised handrims. I plan to have these upgrades for my next wheelchair.

All said, I have no regret whatsoever in forking out the amount I paid for the Tilite ZRA Series 2, it being the most important piece of equipment for my mobility and independence. In fact, I wished I had gotten one earlier. I have nothing but praises for the ZRA for its full adjustability, not that I have had the need to adjust anything. The best thing about this wheelchair is that I look good in it. This is my best wheelchair yet and the rigid frame is the only way for me now.

[VIDEO] BERSIH Tunjuk Bagaimana Pengundi Boleh 'Diklon'

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 12:59 AM PDT

* Pengundi yang mempunyai nombor kad pengenalan lama dan alamat yang sama, tetapi berbeza nombor kad pengenalan baru;
* Pengundi yang mempunyai nama yang sama, tetapi nombor kad pengenalan baru yang sedikit berbeza;
* Nama yang sama dengan tarikh lahir yang sedikit berbeza, dan nombor kad pengenalan baru; dan
* Pengundi pos dengan nama yang sama tetapi nombor kad pengenalan yang sedikit berbeza .

The following post by Walla was a comment in response to my re-post of Hazlan Zakaria's article HERE. My grateful thanks to Walla for gracefully sharing such elegant and sharp views for us to consider the issue on a deeper level. Please feel free to share your views in the comment box. Take care and have a lovely afternoon.

Walla Says...

To have blustered that there is no such thing as a minority report, the speaker of the House must have been in a tizzy on receiving one from PKR members of the select committee.

Perhaps he got himself mixed up with the role played by Max Von Sydow, villain in Spielsberg's Minority Report, a scifi movie which had starred Tom Cruise as a law enforcer with a conscience.

Let's see. The speaker must have done a quick search in Erskine May's Parliamentary Practice, a standard reference of our MPs. Seeing nothing there, he could have next found something in the rules of procedure of the South African parliament. There it does say minority reports are not provided for. Encouraged, his researchers must have next been asked to find another similar example. Perhaps they found it in New Zealand as well. Hence, out of more than one hundred parliaments on this planet, he mentioned two and then said none is allowed.

But just across the water from NZ in Australia's state of Victoria, its parliament specifically states that minority reports are allowed (http://is.gd/NVyz6Z).

Furthermore, in a study by the Inter-Parliamentary Union on 88 national parliaments (http://is.gd/l6Vpgn), minority reports are published to include views dissenting from those in a report by a committee which includes the dissenters. As an example, the Austrian house allows for just three dissenters to submit a minority report even when the committee has 26 members.

Another survey by Strom and Saalfeld noted that the right to submit committee minority reports also exist in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland, amongst many others.

In fact, if you search for 'electoral fraud' in the Queensland parliament database at (http://is.gd/cRrnUe), there are clear examples of how its Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee was engaged on dissenting views regarding that same matter which our most mulia speaker of the house is trying to garrot, perhaps with another nambikei garland.

Which returns us to the matter at hand. First, what was the reason for that parliamentary select committee? To study recommendations for our electoral reforms. That includes studying any weaknesses in the electoral system which may open to electoral fraud.

Therefore in disallowing minority reports, is our august house telling the voting rakyat of Malaysia that the committee's minorities are not allowed to submit their different opinions and information to the floor which would otherwise allow the floor to gain either several policy options or an assurance that the final committee report represents cross-party consensus?

SAYS:
3. walla 2/2

In fact, the rationale adduced in the minority report now stillborn would enable a more balanced debate in our parliament. Or are our voters to conclude that one segment of the governing body of this country wants to prevent electoral reforms in all fullness so that it can retain its majority in the house by electoral fraud? In which case why bother to start the committee in the first place? It would then be only a farcical and vexatious act of deceit against the basic right of all citizens of this land to have clean and fair elections. Surely our Barisan MPs do not want to win the next general elections through foul means? But this is a repetition.

Look again at the five recommendations of the minority report. They address the fundamental issues that had stirred thousands of our rakyat to walk in Bersih 2.0 despite the warm welcome with acidified water cannons, rubber truncheons and the tranquilizing gas of ww1 vintage.

In saying no to the recommendations, Barisan is saying it will gerrymander the constituencies and populate the voter databases to the advantage of its candidates against all grains of decency and fairness. This is cheating. And since the speaker of the house cannot possibly not follow the same argument, he must therefore defend himself whether in disallowing the minority report he has therefore been complicit in the process to deny the rakyat of Malaysia their fundamental right to a clean and fair vote.

One must note the following from the World Bank Institute for professional development of parliamentarians:

"Everyone seems to be agreed that where there is an opposition, however small it may be in size, the government would like to carry the opposition with it in legislation rather than be seen to be using its majority to ride roughshod over the opposition and the views it represents.

This is easy to understand in a democracy for it is an acceptance that the opposition members reflect the views of what may be a large segment of the population even if they are numerically very small in parliament. As many of you comment, the opposition can make its presence felt in committees even more than in plenary sessions of parliament and can be quite successful in persuading the government to accept certain amendments in the less highly charged atmosphere of committee deliberations."

In anything, this darkest episode in the history of this country's parliament serves to illustrate that in saying Malaysia aspires to be one of the best democracies in the world, the present PM is only talking through his pink lips. Maybe he would like to shift the blame to his law minister for this colossal fiasco.

But the rakyat will have their Bersih 3.0. That will push GE13 to a later date. Since the longer the delay, the more the revelations of Barisan's bad behavior, the speaker of the House should not be sleeping easy from tonight onwards that the people who appointed him to the chair may also grill him as well.

Check those wires, Pandy.

Mohd Sabu: PAS Akan Gerak 100 % Jentera Sertai BERSIH 3.0

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 07:28 AM PDT

A Samad Said pagi tadi.

Posted: 04 Apr 2012 10:57 PM PDT
