It has been one of the worst days of my life.
Just before I left the house to attend the funeral service of a very old friend's dad (also my father's old friend), I received news that a precious friend who lives abroad is down with a terminal disease. My heart broke when I thought of the pain he must be going through. I am broken-hearted for his lovely daughter who will lose the opportunity to grow up with such a wonderful father. Even though we have never met nor spoken to each other, he has become a dear friend of the family for we had been communicating regularly via email till last year when he relocated to a new country. May God give him strength for the challenge and love to surround him.
I just broke down and cried. And stopped. And I cried and stopped and this went on till about 2pm.
I thought I could not make it for the funeral service at 10 am but I pulled myself together and drove giddily to the funeral parlour. The service had begun and I was late.
As I entered the parlour, I was surprised to see my husband there as he had a business engagement. Walking closer, I stood behind him and wondered how come I never realized he had shrunk of late. I was about to tap him on the shoulder when I realized, oh nooooo - not my husband. It was another friend. :-(
I was that delirious, shaken and giddy from shock that I could not even recognize my own husband. I was ok during the service but slowly fell apart at the crematorium. I saw my friend's mom looking so down.
She is the best mom amongst all my friends. Always loving, caring, warm and jovial to my family, she would serve me my favourite Cantonese dish made of various vegetables, mussels, mushroom etc served with her delectable chillie sauce when we visited her during the Chinese New Year.
And when I looked at her this morning, I broke down.
I thought - it could be me the next time or a few years/decades down the road. How would I feel then if I were the widow? I think you can get the picture. She is in her late eighties and had always been the most loving mother to her children and their friends.
Uncle Lee who passed away was a soft spoken man. A man of few words, his gentleness spoke volumes about the kindness within his heart. In the past, our conversation centred round my dad and relatives but after my dad passed away, we did not talk as much - as though it was too painful for our own obvious reasons.
Auntie Lee could hardly walk. Using an umbrella as a walking stick, she was bent over when she walked up to the casket. I could see that the sadness had weakened her and her granddaughters held her up as she placed the white rose on the white casket.
Earlier, I had cried more and more as we sang 'Amazing Grace'.
Part of me was filled with guilt. In February, we had dinner with Uncle Lee's family as his youngest son is a very beloved friend of ours whom we have known since the late 1970's. In my hurry to head home so that Philip could pick us up for karaoke (which did not happen in the end), as I bade them goodbye I forgot to tell Uncle and Auntie "Take care and see you again".
I had this nagging feeling that I might not see him again to talk to him. I resolved to call them the next day but forgot about it till he was admitted to ICU last month. Somehow, I have this perceptive gift and I dread it when I get such vibes. I knew exactly how my dad would die before he did and it happened the way I had seen it 2 days before he died. Four days before my stepmom died, I woke up with this voice telling me "Her death is nearer than you think".
When I visited Uncle Lee two weeks ago, I knew then that it would be tough but I made no mention whatsoever. Yet, I salute Marcel and his siblings and spouses for their utmost love and devotion in taking care of their dad, giving their parents the best. Auntie Lee has always been such an inspiration in every aspect of family life, joy overflowing and love abounding.
I can never understand how in happy occasions, I do not cry when singing that song but at funerals, it bleeds my heart for it reminds me of what was, is and will be....
When the casket was pushed into the incinerator, I really could not take it.
And so I cried, and cried and cried and cried from then till I got home, bathed, changed and cooked.
And cried again till it was time to pick Nick. Then cried again after coming home.
You know, the past few years have been most difficult for me. I have lost so many relatives, friends and also parents of friends including:
This evening, I was at a friend's place and when I came back, he told me that the internet was down. He did not even know how to report to streamyx. (I am now using a borrowed broadband. Not sure if I will have net connection tomorrow.)
Deep down within, I cried but pulled myself together. I don't know how he will cope if I go first. Yet, if he went first, I also don't know how I can cope.
Living as a recluse since 2008 for various reasons means I have few friends. I wondered how many would come to my funeral. It does not matter for what matters is what I leave behind when I go. I have already drawn up the program for my funeral lest they sing songs that I do not like.
I have told my boys that I want a white coffin, lilies and pink roses or carnations. For sure, the following songs will be sung at my funeral and have requested my younger son to be on the keyboard and older one to play the violin:
Less idealistic, more pragmatic and certainly more loving to myself, my loved ones and friends. More time is invested in those I love.
While driving my boy home from school, I asked his friend with whom we car-pool, "J, you are so blessed that your granny is still alive. Have you ever told her you love her?"
"No," he answered softly.
"Well, do hug her and tell her you love her when you get home. Tomorrow might never come and it would be too late."
We all kept silent. The reality of our mortality hit home.
Why am I sad?
Because, I am getting older.
The day will come when I leave this world. And I want to leave gracefully, painlessly if possible and leave a legacy of love behind.
I told my boys that if ever they regret not knowing me enough, all they needed to do was to read my blog, my facebook updates, my poetry and my youtube videos.
And not to remember the negatives but to cherish the memories of times shared which nothing in the world would be able to bring back to life.
I always tell my loved ones that I love them, not once but a few times a day - certainly before they go to bed.
It is not easy to grow old. I cannot think as fast as I could before and often, I could be talking to someone without remembering their names until much later.
It is not easy to sweep the floor and see how much hair fall and to comb my hair in the mornings and see how it has greyed. It is painful to see lines on my once-upon-a-time good complexion or even the ravages of the sun on my arms in the form of pigmentation.
My cousin who lives in US told me that I need to see a grief counsellor. Perhaps he is right. I find difficulty in coming to terms with death, losing loved ones. Perhaps I never got over the pain of losing my mom at the age of 11. The sharp shooting pain is still there even as I type this.
I have been attending so many funerals of late that I shudder whenever the house phone rings for fear that someone has passed away :-( I have lost 28 pounds to date. Angela says I might be thinner than her soon. My tightest jeans is now hanging on me. :-( And all the stress has given me no appetite. It was only almost at 7.30pm this evening when I realized that I had not eaten anything at all today.
Regardless, I am sorry for this emo-filled post.
It has been very difficult for me the past few months. Yet, I look to Angela for strength for she is such a strong woman. Two of my friends survived the battle against the big C - Angela and Esther - and BOTH are very strong and positive sisters. So, I will wipe my tears now, put ice on my swollen eyes and try not to fear the time when I have to leave this world or if my loved ones go before me.
I will always love them and the memories of my thoughts, experiences etc remain not just in their hearts but also in my blog.
Please take care, dear readers. Live life to the fullest. Cherish, treasure and appreciate all that you have, even what you do not have. be thankful for little blessings, for health, your family and may happiness and health be yours all the days of your life.

PKR questions minister's 'RM1.5mil payout' to actress
3:54PM Apr 18, 2012
PKR has picked up on a police report that claims a federal minister had paid a popular local actress up to RM1.5 million in four months of their "intimate relationship" that has spanned three years.
The police report was lodged by one Noor Azman Azemi, 38, on March 13 at the Ampang police station.
He said he had lodged the report following an accusation by the actress on March 3 that he had absconded with RM200,000.
His relative then gave a copy to Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, who revealed the contents to journalists at the Parliament lobby today and questioned the source of the minister's funds.
Zuraida (left) claimed that the actress had received RM58,000 last October, RM112,000 in November and RM330,000 in December, as well as RM510,000 in January this year.
Reading out from the polic report, she said Noor Azman claimed to have been assigned by the minister to work as a driver to the actress (names withheld pending comment) three years ago.
Noor Azman, who said the minister told him to keep tabs on the actress' "every movement", described himself as the "trusted middleman" who helped channel the funds into her personal account.
He further claimed in the report that the minister would secretly meet the actress each week in hotels around Kuala Lumpur.
"At every meeting, (the minister) would hand over RM100,000 to RM200,000... the cash would be taken by me and (the actress) to be credited into (her bank) account in Menara Perkeso, Jalan Ampang," alleged Noor Azman.
He said he had resigned on Feb 29 this year, as he could not manage the pressure of working for the minister and because he had to report on the actress' movements while the minister was overseas.
Noor Azman also said the actress has lodged a police report against him because she was dissatisfied with his resignation and she had been "scolded" by the minister.
Zuraida said the minister has seven days to respond to the allegations and answer as to the source of his funds.
Subang MP R Sivarasa, who was present, said: "I'm under the impression that their relationship might have been going on for more than three years, so imagine how much (the minister) must have spent."
Malaysiakini attempted to contact the minister involved but there was no response up to the time of writing.

Misteri tugasan luar negara Shafee
-mk

Prices of residential properties are expected to climb further by five to 10 percent this year, said a report by CIMB Research.
While appreciation could be higher than projected, the government will likely remain cautious over 'runaway' property prices.
The report said 2012 would be another good year for house price appreciation, backed by several advantageous factors and despite the slower real GDP (gross domestic product) growth projection.
"Buying momentum continued to be strong, driven by inflationary fears," said CIMB.
On the other hand, supply growth "should remain depressed as developers have only just started to focus more on affordable homes costing not more than RM500,000 in the Klang Valley." The growth of prices in the Klang Valley will be driven by new infrastructures such as the MRT (My Rapid Transit), covered walkway projects and river rehabilitation.
Although new records will likely set this year, overall transaction values are doomed for a slowdown following two years of high growth of 30 percent on average.
"In view of credit-tightening measures by the central bank, we believe that the growth in transaction value should slow to 10 percent to 12 percent this year," it added.
CIMB also emphasised that the risks to volume and price projections have taken into account the global economic outlook as well as the performance of the local stock market.
Meanwhile, the commercial property market may be on the darker side, as oversupply will likely affect the sector in the coming years. This early, occupancy rates for both retail and office segments have begun to drop.

SOURCE:Pics from Myanmar Muslim.net, News @ MMSY & Myanmar Muslims' properties and houses are arbitrarily being destroyed!
"At night, they are still destroying Thein Lwin's house in Yaenantthar Village near Kanma Township," Nyi Nyi Lwin and Maung Maung Ni, victim Myanmar Muslims, said.
"While men were demolishing Al-hajjah Wah Wah's house, women took her valuable goods away lawlessly and forcefully, and so she lost 0.7 Viss of gold (more than 1 kg of gold) and about 7 million Kyats (Myanmar currency,) during attack," Nyi Nyi Lwin, who is now evading, narrated.
"And they attacked the Mosque too, leaving nothing at all," he continued.
The main triggering factor for this terrible attack is competition for business between Wah Wah, a Myanmar Muslim business woman, and other non-Muslim business group supported by local authorities of USDP, the major political party of the present Myanmar government.
In the beginning of April, Wah Wah won fairly and officially the auction for business ferry licence which was formerly monopolized by the group who has a strong relation to USDP.
But this group did not want to transfer the business to her and requested her to hire these boats for a week. Thus she accepted their request and asked them to give the boats back when a week completed.
At that time, they refused to transfer the business to her and asked her by force to continue this hire.
Moreover, Win Naing, a USDP politician at Hluttaw(Myanmar Parliament), threatened her to transfer this business to his group, telling that if not, they would create a Muslim-Burma riot.
That is why, she unwillingly transfered this boats to this group again. After this event, on 13th April, two non- Muslim local guys started to fight a Muslim visitor, and so Muslims reported and charged this case to local police station but the police force took no action.
"At this night, the local people start to attack Muslims' houses, shops and the Mosque," Nyi Nyi Lwin added.
On this day, houses of Jabbar, Habilay, Zay Zay Oo, Pishow, Wah Wah, Eisop, Aung Moe Lwin and Raja's shop had been destroyed.
Up to now, the local authorities announce nothing and take no action for this sorrowful transgression. The transgressors continued destroying, attacking to Habilay's shop and Thein Lwin's house who is Wah Wah's brother on 14th April.
For negligence of the government authorities to victims and some USDP authorities' involvement in this riot, Myanmar Muslims are feeling very unhappy for their helpless situation and unsatisfied due to such unlawful act in the newly democratized country.

Awas cara Terengganu tawan Selangor
Semuga Allah memperkenankan doa kita.

CONFLICT IN BURMA: PERCEPTIONS AND HISTORY
The conflict in Burma – seemingly going on forever – has generally, if not usually, been portrayed as "ethnic". It conjures up a Bosnia scenario where ethnic groups killed each other in bloody wars, or that of a fragile country about to be "balkanized", i.e., broken into warring ethnic segments were it not for the country's military rulers. In order to justify its harsh rule, the military regime has diligently played the ethnic-conflict and the balkanization theme which more or less haunts all states and governments of the world.
Looking at Burma, it is conventionally seen as a country of numerous ethnic groups which are mutually hostile and suspicious, and as a country where governments, even military regimes (as at present, and since 1962), have had a very hard time holding it together. From this perspective, unity in Burma looks very fragile, or that the sense of common nationhood is non-existent. This view does seem to justify military rule since the military is, in this argument, the only force capable of preventing the breakup of the country and keeping the 135 "national races" from tearing each other apart.

RELIGION is the Trump card of dirty politicians and dirty governments
Of course not. But this is the trump card of dirty politicians.
In this way,
Religion is a matter of individual conscience while politics is a social science.
Of course, as a social science, politics must see that the individual also has his rights, including the right to freedom of religious worship.
But here we must stop and draw the line definitely between politics and religion, because the two are not one and the same thing.
If we mix religion with politics, this is against the spirit of religion itself,
And politics is frankly a secular science. That is it.
Every student of social and political science knows very well that_
Some of us have been going still about the same old way of 'dirty' politics. But is politics really 'dirty'. It is not politics which is dirty, but rather the persons who choose to dirty it are dirty.
Each of us is a political animal as Aristotle declared
Politics means your everyday life. It is you in fact; for you are a political animal as Aristotle long ago declared.
The worker works for his wages, the peasant tills for his living, the clerk and the official toil for salaries, the trader and the broker struggle for decent incomes.
It is, all, the question of livelihood.
Thus you have to live and get certain things that are yours for your living, and this is your politics. This is your everyday life; and as your everyday life changes, so changes your politics.
It is for you to have such opportunities for your livelihood and better life that we say there must be freedom,
And this is politics. Politics then is quite human!

-SH

Let's roll back to my 2011 year end vacation... The 17 days Northern Thailand + Bangkok trip. It was a superb trip as i have taken tans of nice pictures with my Nikon D7000 - High Definition (HD).
Anyway, my friend has booked a nice dinner on the sky - This is an open air restaurant on the roof top of a building/hotel i.e LE BUA. The restaurant is famous for its spectacular view of the sunset and lights up moment of the city of angel, Bangkok!
The Sirocco restaurant is one of the fine dining restaurant in Bangkok. At the end we spent around RM500+ for a meal high up @ the nice restaurant in town. Expensive dining with the ultimate experience of the most beautiful view of Bangkok. And a windy night on the roof of the building. Worth and value for money? Hmmm... try it and let us know eh~
The DOME @ LE BUA is a popular place for enjoying the view of Bangkok too... Actually you don't need to dine in that expensive restaurant to have the nice view. You could drop by the Dome Skybar to enjoy the view too. Just buy a RM50+ cocktail to enjoy the scenery :) I think this is much more worth than the dinner if you have a tight budget :p
So do plan your trip to drop by this place... you will not regard...

Election fever is here!
Gambar daripada sumber yang boleh dipercayai. ;)
In the meantime, report by Malaysiakini:
Speculation has heightened that the general election is around the corner when teachers from schools in the Johor Baru district that will be used as polling centres were summoned to attend a day-long briefing by the Election Commission today at the indoor stadium in Jalan Tebrau, while staff at their respective schools would operate on a skeletal basis.
Notice of the briefing was hurriedly conveyed yesterday to selected staff of schools that have been designated as polling centres.
While it is not known if such briefings have been scheduled in the other states on the peninsula, sources say as goes Johor, so will the other states.

Ever since I joined Buddies in 2004, I've had to face quite a number of deaths of my clients. Thank God I'm not really the type who gets emotionally involved in my cases, but that doesn't mean I don't get affected at all. I mean, who wouldn't get touched seeing children still needing love and attention losing their parents, right?
The first of the deaths of my clients that I had to face was that of Rose. Rose had been a client of Buddies for quite some time, but after a while she went missing. By the time my fellow volunteers managed to get hold of her again, I was already a confirmed buddy, and so they assigned me to this case. By then Rose had been diagnosed with late stage of cancer. I only got to know Rose for the last 2 1/2 months of her life, but during that short period she did tell me from A to Z about her life story.
Anyway, when Rose died, her 3 children were all still in primary school. The oldest then was only 12, and the youngest 9. None of Rose's siblings were well-to-do, and none were willing to take in additional financial burden. But luckily, the children's paternal family came to the rescue. After visiting the children's paternal grandma and aunt who took them in, I was convinced they were in good hands and the new guardians were also financially capable to bring them up. So I didn't really have to monitor their case anymore, although from time to time, I do get news from their aunt. The kids are doing well.
Then there was Lily, who had to lead such a complicated life. Nobody had expected her to go so soon. Despite her HIV, her condition wasn't too bad. But she died due to complications arising from dengue. Her 3 children were all still young, including her youngest son who was just 5 years old then, and was also HIV+ to add. An uncle willingly took over responsibility taking care of the children, but although I tried to convince them that they didn't have to worry about taking care of a HIV+ child, after listening to too many other people who insisted they knew what they're talking about, the child was sent to a shelter home for HIV children, separated from his sisters who continued to stay with the uncle. The uncle however, did promise to visit the boy from time to time.
I have lost contact with this family, and so I don't know how they're doing right now.
The next death was that of Azman's, Yah's husband. They had 4 children, including the youngest who was still a baby then. Yah had problems with her in-laws then, and had to resort to "running away" together with her kids from their house near her in-law's house. She moved back to her parent's house. I did continue to visit them after the husband's death, but Yah, who initially was a very strong and determined woman, changed for the worse after she began befriending another PLHIV, Mr Darling. She starting going out (and sleeping with) men, determined to take revenge on them. Her 2 older children ended up asking to go to an orphanage. The 2 younger ones continued to stay with their grandparents. I withdrew Yah's financial assistance as I didn't want her to spend the money for useless things. Lately however, Yah has changed (or at least she admitted so) and now she is already working at a factory and her kids are back with her. We do keep still keep in touch from time to time and the children seem to be doing okay.
Another death I had to face was that of Rina's. When Rina's case was referred to us, her condition was already very bad. So I never really had the chance to get to know Rina better. I only had the opportunity to visit her at her house once, to help bring her to the hospital, and another visit was when she was warded at the hospital. The next visit was at the morgue, the day she died. Rina left behind a son, who was then just 8 years old, but his grandparents were able and willing to take care of him, and so I didn't really have to follow up on the case after Rina's death.
Then last year came Shila's death. That was the first time I had to handle the janazah right from preparing the kafan, to bathing and finally to kafan the body. Shila died at home, not at the hospital, and after I found out that the regular lady who usually handles all the janazah management at that kampong was not around, I offered myself since I knew what to do and had the experience (although that was my first time handling the body of an HIV+ person). Shila left behind one daughter, Laila, who was then 11. But Shila had all the while stayed at her mother's house, together with her mother and a few other siblings, so there wasn't really any problem about who was to take care of Laila. But since the family wasn't well to do, Laila, who was already under our education sponsorship programme, still continues to get sponsorship for her educational needs. But I don't really have to follow up on this case too often.
The latest case is of course that of Sofie's. This case is somehow different from the other cases I've had to handle. Probably because I visit this family more often compared to the other families, not because I practice favouritism, but because of Sofie's fragile condition. The first time I was assigned to her, she was actually bedridden. That was 4 years ago. Nobody thought she could survive any more than a year. But for the sake of her children, she persevered for 4 years. Sofie herself, despite her condition, was never the type to just do nothing and wait for assistance to come in. The moment she felt a bit better, she'd try to do something to earn some income for the family. By late last year she started selling nasi lemak near her rented house, after getting some assistance from the government's e-kasih programme.
There were times however, when she felt unwell and couldn't open her stall. In other words, the family was still not stable and independent enough. I still visit the family regularly every month. The children were already treating me like family. Unlike other children who'd only go out with me if their mother came along, in the case of Sofie's children, they didn't even have to think twice about going anywhere with me without their mother tagging along.
Although the children are now under the care of their aunt Rozi, Rozi too treats me like family and had been endlessly thanking me for helping out her sister. The children now still needs care and help. Unlike the other children under their new guardians whom I only follow up from time to time just to find out how they're doing (a few I have lost contact totally as their new guardians prefer not to keep in touch with us), looks like for Sofie's children, I will still have to continue with my monthly visits.

Pasport dipulangkan, NFC masih beroperasi?
-HD
Kerajaan buka tender ambil alih projek pusat Fidlot Nasional
Benarlah apa yang GB suarakan dahulu bahawa "betul-betul rakyat pula cuba diperlembukan" dengan pengeluaran tender NFC.
Ia hanya "wayang" UMNO/BN menjelang PRU13.
