Pasar Malam-Style In Taylor's University – University was pretty happenings last week for two days. As early as 9am, the Char Koay Teow uncle has already started his job frying koay teow. I don't know it's nice or not, I also don't really have much confidence in him, but I did see many people queuing up for it.
What's happening was the Borneo Jazz Festival brought in a few hawker-style food stall to Taylor's for 2 days to promote the Borneo Jazz Festival which is happenings now. I have no idea, the event is this weekend but they promote it few days before, how can people here have time to buy air tickets to fly there? Anyway, it's nice to see the food stalls here, it feel lively, awesome, fun, shiok, and shuang, although I didn't buy anything. Hahaha. I was too lazy to queue is another reason.

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
"Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
"You will simply call her, 'Mom.'"
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and mothers-to-be from Masterwordsmith!!!

In May 1967, in brazen violation of previous truce agreements, Egypt ordered U.N. peacekeepers out of the Sinai, marched 120,000 troops to the Israeli border, blockaded Eilat (Israel's southern outlet to the world's oceans), abruptly signed a military pact with Jordan, and, together with Syria, pledged war for the final destruction of Israel. May '67 was Israel's most fearful, desperate month. The country was surrounded and alone. Previous great-power guarantees proved worthless. A plan to test the blockade with a Western flotilla failed for lack of participants. Time was running out. Forced to protect against invasion by mass mobilization — and with a military consisting overwhelmingly of civilian reservists — life ground to a halt. The country was dying. On June 5, Israel launched a preemptive strike on the Egyptian air force, then proceeded to lightning victories on three fronts. The Six-Day War is legend, but less remembered is that on June 1, the nationalist opposition (Menachem Begin's Likud precursor) was for the first time ever brought into the government, creating an emergency national-unity coalition. Everyone understood why.
You do not undertake a supremely risky preemptive war without the full participation of a broad coalition representing a national consensus. Forty-five years later, in the middle of the night of May 7–8, 2012, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shocked his country by bringing the main opposition party, Kadima, into a national-unity government — shocking because just hours earlier, the Knesset was expediting a bill to call early elections in September. Why did the high-flying Netanyahu call off elections he was sure to win? Because for Israelis today, it is May '67. The dread is not quite as acute: The mood is not despair, just foreboding. Time is running out, but not quite as fast. War is not four days away, but it looms. Israelis today face the greatest threat to their existence — apocalyptic mullahs publicly pledged to Israel's annihilation acquiring nuclear weapons — since May '67.
The world is again telling Israelis to do nothing as it looks for a way out. But if such a way is not found — as in '67 — Israelis know they will once again have to defend themselves, by themselves. Such a fateful decision demands a national consensus. By creating the largest coalition in nearly three decades, Netanyahu is establishing the political premise for a preemptive strike, should it come to that. The new government commands an astonishing 94 Knesset seats out of 120, described by one Israeli columnist as a "hundred tons of solid concrete."
Senator Australia cadang turut saman Utusan

Today is a first for me, running wise that is. This is the first time I paid to participate in a race and am sitting out of it on purpose. Well, not really on purpose but for a personal reason anyway.
Early Sunday morning, 3.00am, the PJ Dawn Half Marathon will flag off and I'll be fast asleep on my memory foam mattress and hoping all my running buddies will have a fun filled and most importantly safe race. I would have loved to have been there joining them for the race as the route is a pretty fast one and I was hoping to have brought down my half marathon personal best in this event.
But alas, that was not to be when I found out who was part of the organizing team. I signed up for this event the moment it was announced a few months back, way even before they actually announced who the organizers were. A smart move on their part if you ask me, cos if they did announced it early and people knew who was a part of the committee, they have a very low participation rate.
Well, to cut a long story short, the moment I discovered this person was part of the team, the wife and me decided we'd rather waste the entry fee than take part in this event. Looks like I'll just have to wait for another race to see if I can bring down my half marathon PB timing even more.
I'll be praying and hoping that the race will go through without any problems and that all the participants will come out of it having a good time. With that said and done, all the best to all the runners for the race tomorrow :D

Here's a selection of jokes for golfers and those who love a little bit of humor in their lives. I am posting these for laughs with no intention to offend anyone. Have a restful evening!
A young man, who worked at a driving range, picked up a couple of dozen old balls one day and took them home with him, stuffing them into his pants pockets.
On the bus on his way home, an elderly old lady sat down next to him, so he had to scrunch them up to make room for her. He noticed after a while the lady was glancing sideways toward his pockets.
A bit embarrassed, he said to the lady, "It`s all right ma`am, they`re just golf balls."
She nodded and smiled sympathetically and a few moments later said, "Tell me - is that something like tennis elbow?"
What Would You Do To Play a Better Round of Golf?
Near the end of a particularly trying round of golf, during which the golfer had hit numerous fat shots, he said in frustration to his caddy, "I'd move heaven and earth to break a hundred on this course."
"Try heaven," said the caddy. "You've already moved most of the Earth."
Teaching the Wife to Golf
"Where am I? How did I get here? Why does my head hurt?"
"You're in a hospital, sir. I'm with the police. We weren't sure you were going to wake up. You had a golf club wrapped around your neck. Just tell us everything you remember."
"Well, I was teaching my wife golf and of course, I won every hole. But on the little par 3, 17th hole, we both hit right to the green, and we both putted right to the pin. When I walked to the flag, I saw one putt had overshot, but the other ball had apparently sunk. I didn't know whose it was, so I pulled the flag, looked in, saw it was her Spaulding in there, and I said, 'Looks like your hole, dear.'"
"That was the last thing I remember."
The Toughest Shot
A golfer stood over his tee shot for what seemed an eternity. Looking up, looking down, measuring the distance, figuring the wind direction and speed. Driving his partner nuts. Finally his
exasperated partner says, "What'staking so long? Hit the blasted ball!"
The guy answers, "My wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse. I want to make this a perfect shot."
"Forget it, man, you'll never hit her from here!"
Ten Sentences Which Are Taboo in Golg :-)
Look at the size of his putter
2. Oh shit my shafts all bent
3. You really wacked the hell out of that sucker
4. After 18 holes I can barely walk
5. My hands are so sweaty I can't get a good grip
6. Lift your head and spread your legs
7. You have a nice stroke, but your follow through leaves a lot to be desired
8. Just turn your back and drop it
9. Hold up.. I've got to wash my balls
10. Damn, I missed the hole again

-SH

Here's a very interesting article by Liz Langley of AlterNet:
The fantasy of wealth has such power. If we had a few million to throw at the people who engage, inspire and entertain us, here's who we'd award it to:
1. Brainiacs: We all make mistakes
"Can it be doubted that three-kilogramme brains were once nearly fatal defects in the evolution of the human race?"
The question was posed by the late, great Kurt Vonnegut in his novel Galapagos. Once you read about the idea that our brains were not an entirely beneficial adaptation, you never forget it. It pops up whenever you see us doing something that doesn't seem very evolved at all.
It popped up when we read Jennifer Welsh's "Did A Copying Mistake Build Man's Brain?" on Live Science. It doesn't judge our big brains as harshly as Vonnegut, but does suggest it was the cellular equivalent of an inattentive Kinko's employee that made us who we are.
Here's the gist: When cells divide they make a copy of their entire genome. These copies sometimes spawn errors or "mutations," one of which is duplication: making more than one copy. These extra copies are inessential to the original so evolution can noodle with them…like (we suppose) if you order two pizzas and it's okay to go crazy and get pineapple and jalapenos on the second because you have the first, essential, tummy-filling pizza.
Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla studied one gene in particular, SRGAP2, which they think went through this erroneous duplication process 2.5 million years ago but made an incomplete copy that that may have interfered with the original, ancestral copy.
The second duplication coincided with the decline of Australopithicus and the "Homo, which led to modern humans," and the expansion of our brains.
They added this partially duplicated genome to a mouse genome and "it seemed to speed the migration of brain cells during development, which makes brain organization more efficient," and had more "spines" which connect with other brain cells and make them look like human brain cells.
Could this tiny copying error have put us on such a remarkably different trajectory than our ape relatives? Ask anyone who ever hit the wrong key by accident: one error can truly change everything.
2. Bigfoot and time warpers
There's one creature that some consider to be the bridge that connects homo big brain to our ape relations: Bigfoot.
We're agnostic about Bigfoot. We're dubious about the existence of the ape-man, but have seen enough seemingly impossible things to be wary of saying "absolutely never." Besides, real or not, his legend has enriched the culture and we wouldn't shoot him even though we could. In Texas.
John Lloyd Scharf of Salem, Oregon isn't happy about that. Life's Little Mysteries reports that Mr. Scharf emailed the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission to find out whether the manimal (or womanimal) was protected.
The short answer is "No," but we'll say this for David Sinclair, of the law enforcement division of Texas Parks and Wildlife: he took the question seriously, replying in part that "A nonprotected, nongame animal may be hunted on private property with landowner consent by any means, at any time and there is no bag limit or possession limit."
Scharf is concerned that this would mean you could shoot the last of a previously undiscovered species and LLM says the matter has been taken up by the cryptozoology site Cryptomundo.
It would be sad to kill the supposed only member of a supposed species, but honestly we think it's a baseless concern. Everyone knows Bigfoot doesn't even live in Texas. He goes from Star Wars event to Star Wars event, winning costume contests as Chewbacca and getting babes and prize money. That's how he stays below the radar. Anyone who could elude the press this long is no dope.
And who's to say that Bigfoot isn't as elusive as he is because he's got a warp drive?

I was doing some spring cleaning around the house today and came across these two pictures from 1978. Jolted my memory quite a bit as I had forgotten where I had kept these pictures. I was part of the first Malaysian chess team to ever set foot in China. Quite an historic visit. We played the Chinese in Shanghai, Hangchow, Suchow and Peking.
The first picture was snapped by a Chinese photographer in Shanghai. The Malaysians were facing the camera. I'm the one sitting at the table nearest the cameraman, oblivious to everything else.
At the tables behind me were Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Christi Hon and Tan Bian Huat. The three Malaysian players nearest the long row of tables were Subramaniam Ramiah, Hu Yu Kuang and Chan Swee Loon.
The second picture was taken when we went on a cruise on the West Lake in Hangchow. We seven players all stood around while the four Malaysian officials sat. We were quite diverse, coming from different parts of the peninsula: Bian Huat and I were representing Penang, Abdul Rahman represented Kelantan, Christi and Subramaniam represented Selangor, Swee Loon represented Perak and Yu Kuang represented Johor. Back in 1978, these were the only states that were affiliated to the Malaysian Chess Federation.

Are you tired of being short? If this sounds like you, there are a wide assortment of options for you to choose from. However, one option to avoid altogether are exercises that claim to be able to make taller yourself by stretching and lengthening your bones after you've hit puberty. This, frankly, is impossible to do, and anyone who claims otherwise is simply trying to scam you out of your money
