Seorang Kerabat Diraja Negeri Sembilan Gesa Hishamuddin Hussein Letak Jawatan

Lain-lain penceramah malam semalam termasuklah pengerusi DAP Negeri Sembilan Loke Siew Fook, Pesuruhjaya PAS Negeri Mohd Taufek Abdul Ghani dan Ketua PKR Rembau PKR Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Namun penceramah utama malam tadi ialah bekas Menteri Penerangan, Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.

All must be EQUAL under the LAW

All must be EQUAL under the LAW.

  1. Not only all the citizens of differing RACE or RELIGION
  2. but even the animals,
  3. criminals,
  4. illegal immigrants or
  5. even the enemy combatants or enemies we caught in the war

should be protected by law and deal only with relevant proper law of the land.

All must be treated fairly, justly without any bias and protected under the law.

They say the LAW must be BLIND: no matter whether rich and powerful or poor and powerless.

Hooked for Life

Posted: 03 May 2012 06:52 AM PDT

The following article 6 Kinds of Pills Big Pharma Tries to Get You Hooked on for Life by Martha Rosenberg was extracted from THIS SITE.

Excerpt:

Since direct-to-consumer drug advertising debuted in the late 1990s, the number of people on prescription drugs for life has ballooned.

Why has Big Pharma failed to produce new antibiotics for deadly infections like MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococci), C. Difficile and Acinetobacter baumannii even as they leap from hospital to community settings? Because there is no money in it.

Pharma executives "have shown less interest in medicines like antibiotics that actually cure disease than in those that only treat symptoms," writes Melody Petersen, author of Our Daily Meds. "Most blockbusters are pills for conditions such as anxiety, high cholesterol or constipation that must be taken daily, often for months or years. They are designed for rich Americans who can afford to buy them." Nor are medicines for tropical diseases like malaria, which kills a child every 30 seconds, a priority, notes Petersen. They also lack ka-ching.

Since direct-to-consumer drug advertising debuted in the late 1990s, the number of people on prescription drugs -- especially prescription drugs for life -- has ballooned. Between 2001 to 2007 the percentage of adults and children on one or more prescriptions for chronic conditions rose by more than 12 million, reports the Associated Press and 25 percent of US children now take a medication for a chronic condition. Seven percent of kids take two or more daily drugs. Who says advertising doesn't work?

Of the top-selling drugs in 2011, led by Lipitor, Nexium, Plavix, Advair Diskus, Abilify, Seroquel, Singulair and Crestor, none is taken occasionally, or "as needed" and the treatment goal is never to get off the drug, like an antibiotic. Why would Pharma deal itself out of the game?

There are two ways Pharma hooks the US public on prescriptions for life. First, prescriptions that used to be taken as needed for pain, anxiety, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux), asthma, mood problems, migraines and even erectile dysfunction, gout and retroviruses (in some cases) are now full-time medicines. Instead of having a bad day or heartburn, you have a disease like anxiety or GERD which calls for full pharmaceutical artillery. Instead of having body pain to be treated transiently, you are put on an antidepressant like Cymbalta or seizure drug like Lyrica or Neurontin indefinitely.

Waran Tangkap Jika Tolak Sepina - Tamparan Keras Ke Muka Zahid Hamidi

Posted: 03 May 2012 08:37 AM PDT

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) will require a cash outlay of some RM415 million to pay off holders of its redeemable convertible preference shares (RCPS), which mature on Oct 30, 2012, analysts said.

This is in addition to the sizeable RM6 billion capital expenditure (capex) the national carrier needs to raise this year to take delivery of 23 new aircraft. The airline has about RM1.12 billion in available cash as of Dec 31, with net gearing at 4.41 times.

French prosecutors: Najib sought US$1bil for Perimekar by Aidila Razak

Posted: 03 May 2012 04:55 AM PDT

Wow, our Prime Minister. So Guys, change your lifestyle! Ha, ha, ha %#@$#%#@%^$#@@!!!! French public prosecutors probing shoddy deals in French-Malaysian arms deals found evidence that then-defence minister Najib Abdul Razak had sought US$1 billion (RM3 billion) for local company Perimekar from French shipmaker DCN's subsidiary DCNI. According to prosecution papers revealed by NGO Suaram today, a fax shows that Najib had asked for the amount for Perimekar as a condition for a meeting with him on July 14, 2001.

The fax, dated June 1, 2001 was from Francois Dupont, the Malaysian representative for private company Thales Asia International, to one D Arnaud. The document, one of 153 shown to Suaram, was seized by French police from the office of Henri Gide, an officer with Thales. However, no copy of the fax was provided to media at the press conference today as Suaram said it is not allowed to take the documents out of France.

Instead, the NGO, which is pursuing a civil complaint against state-owned DCN for allegedly paying 114 million euros in defence kickbacks to Perimekar, provided media with notes from its French interpreter. According to the notes, Dupont had in the fax detailed out the chronology of visits and future actions during a visit to Malaysia, including details of "negotiation meetings with the Ministry of Defence and the management members of Perimekar".

"(In the negotiations) two contract proposals would be mentioned (from DCNI to Perimekar as well as between Perimekar and the Malaysian government). "(Dupont) finally indicated a meeting with Datuk Seri Najib in France on July 14, 2001 with the condition that DCNI offers a maximum sum of US$1 billion for Perimekar's stay (in France)," it reads. Malaysia purchased two Scorpene class submarines in 2002.

Perimekar is owned by Najib's associate Abdul Razak Baginda, who was acquitted on a charge of abetting in the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuuyaa Shariibuu, without his defence being called. Razak Baginda's company paid 360,000 euro. According to Suaram, another document obtained by the prosecutors revealed that Terasasi Sdn Bhd, a company owned by Abdul Razak and his father, was also linked to the scandal. Suaram's interpreter noted that prosecutors had on Aug 22, 2011, obtained an invoice faxed to Terasasi Sdn Bhd on Sept 19, 2004, to the then-chief executive officer of Thales, Bernard Baiocco, for the purpose of "success fees".

The invoice states that 359,450 euros (RM1.43 million) was to be paid into a bank in Petaling Jaya, while a handwritten note on the fax reads: "Razak demande si ce SF peut etre pris en compte assez vite. Le Support Fee suit avec un rapport (Razak is asking whether the SF can be paid into the account quite urgently. The support fee follows with a report.)" However, Suaram director Cynthia Gabriel said the prosecutors were still trying to determine whether the 'Razak' stated in the note refers to Najib or Abdul Razak.

'The Great Malaysian Robbery'. Referring to the case as "the Great Malaysian Robbery", Gabriel said the prosecutors also found "a slew of companies" had been formed to muddy the money trail. "More retro-commissions have surfaced, allowing the misuse of bodies such as a pilgrimage fund (Lembaga Tabung Haji) and the military pension fund (Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera). "The Malaysian and French people have clearly been misled, cheated and robbed of their monies through blatant corruption and mismanagement of funds in the name of national safety and security," Gabriel (right) said.

As such, Suaram demanded that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission open investigation papers on these new revelations and for the Malaysian government to cooperate with the French inquiry. It also demands that the Defence Ministry lists out to Parliament the companies involved in the procurement process involving DCN and the commissions paid.Malaysiakini.

World Press Freedom Day

Posted: 03 May 2012 02:30 AM PDT

This post is the Joint Message by UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon and UNESCO Director-General Ms Irina Bokova on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day 3 May 2012. Source: HERE

Freedom of expression is one of our most precious rights. It underpins every other freedom and provides a foundation for human dignity. Free, pluralistic and independent media is essential for its exercise.

This is the message of World Press Freedom Day.

Media freedom entails the freedom to hold opinions and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers, as stated in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This freedom is essential for healthy and vibrant societies.

Change in the Arab world has shown the power of aspirations for rights when combined with new and old media. Newfound media freedom is promising to transform societies through greater transparency and accountability. It is opening new ways to communicate and to share information and knowledge. Powerful new voices are rising – especially from young people – where they were silent before. This is why this year's World Press Freedom Day is centred on the theme of New Voices: Media Freedom Helping to Transform Societies.

Media freedom also faces severe pressures across the world. Last year, UNESCO condemned the killing of 62 journalists who died as a result of their work. These journalists must not be forgotten and these crimes should not remain unpunished. As media moves online, more online journalists, including bloggers, are being
harassed, attacked, and killed for their work. They must receive the same protection as traditional media workers.

The first UN Inter-Agency Meeting on Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity met at UNESCO on the 13 and 14 September 2011. We produced a Plan of Action for the UN to build a more free and safe environment for journalists and media workers everywhere. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen the legal foundations for free, pluralistic and independent media, especially in countries undergoing transformation or rebuilding after conflict. At a time of information overload, we must help young people especially to develop critical skills and greater media literacy.

World Press Freedom Day is our opportunity to raise the flag in the fight to advance media freedom. We call on States, professional media and non-governmental organisations everywhere to join forces with the United Nations to promote online and offline freedom of expression in accordance with internationally accepted principles. This is a pillar of individual rights, a foundation for healthy societies and a force for social transformation.

KUALA
LUMPUR:

Will Firefly now please fly KL-Kuching sector

Posted: 03 May 2012 01:47 AM PDT

When Firefly first introduced its flights to Kuching, we were happy to have an alternative way to get home from KL.  Not that the tickets were very cheap, but it offered a competitive alternative to Airasia.  The fares are cheaper than MAS and we get to avoid LCCT and forget a moment how much worse off we all seem to be compared to the old days. hThen it was taken off amidst talks of MAS/Airasia merger or takeover.  In any case it instantly created a non competitive environment and immediately flights from KL to Kuching on Firefly were removed. At the same time, the prices of Airasia for that sector went higher.

Certainly, in the old days, there was senior citizen fares where the tickets were half fares for a full serviced flights on MAS if bookings were made one week ahead. In recent times, the equivalent half fares are not easy to obtain even for zero service airlines like Airasia even if booked one week ahead.  MAS has gone on to increase its fares exhorbitantly, Airasia also increased its fares. It's clearly a case of no competition for zero service airlines like Airasia while fares are not cheaper especially so during seasonal family reunions for festive celebrations. What is most annoying is to see cheap fare promotions for flights to other foreign destinations.

With the merger or takeover no longer in place, hopefully Firefly will continue to fly KL- Kuching sector.  Firstly it is the duty of Firefly to ensure that Malaysians can return home first, before giving cheap fares to the Indonesians or other nationalities to fly home.  It becomes absurd when during festive seasons, non-Malaysians can return home cheaply but not Malaysians using Malaysian airlines. Since MAS is losing billions, why don't they let the Malaysians benefit the service. If MAS wants any form of sympathy for making billions of losses, focus on corporate social responsibility. Take care of Malaysians first.

I have always felt Airasia is Malaysian but seeing how this particular situation is handled, it is hard to feel any sense of loyalty towards Airasia. How could they forget that East Malaysia forms part of Malaysia too?

[DASYAT] Anggota Polis Dituduh Cabul Remaja 15 Tahun Dalam Kereta Peronda

Posted: 03 May 2012 04:37 AM PDT

– Bernama
