Almost certain, PAS to leave Pakatan

Almost certain, PAS to leave Pakatan

"Some of our leaders are considering a move to pull the party out of Pakatan Rakyat if DAP and PKR do not approve its plan to introduce hudud law should PR wins the next general election. On my part, I think PAS should opt out."

A PAS central committee member from Terengganu told me over the phone last nite after receiving my text message.

"Even many of PAS members like the idea. We believe PAS can stand on its own as had been in the past (in Kelantan).

"Without DAP and PKR, we are confidence PAS can win more seats in the coming general election, God willing.

"We can understand DAP's rejection for hudud but not PKR Muslim leaders who actually know so much about the law. Our leaders had reiterated many times that hudud is meant for Muslims and will not affect the non-Muslims.

"Maybe some Muslim figures in PKR had to agree with DAP in order to keep Pakatan Rakyat's smooth running. I personally think PKR and DAP and team up well but only in certain aspects," he said without giving details.

He, however believes most Muslims in the country, including those with Umno are supporting PAS idea of a 'true' Islamic country in Malaysia.

"Why not? Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan and other Muslim countries have introduced hudud a long time ago and they never encountered with serious problems. Even expatriates and non-Muslim are comfortable with the system... and they never complained!

"Like it or not, PAS will lead the charge for hudud if PR wins... with or without the support from DAP and PKR. We will not compromise."

To a question about the possibility of PAS leaving Pakatan before the national poll, he said: "Almost certain... if they (DAP and PKR) reject hudud!"

Fakta Sebenar Isu Air Di Selangor

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 11:22 AM PDT

Krisis air Selangor

Krisis air Selangor : Hasil kaji selidik Jawatankuasa Pemantauan Air Selangor.

Krisis air Selangor : Kesimpulanya

-tunhitler

Saudi Arabia: Sri Lankan arrested for praying to Buddha, could be beheaded

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 07:09 AM PDT

The Chakra, July 26
A Sri Lankan youth employed as a domestic aid has been arrested in Saudi Arabia for praying to a statue of Lord Buddha, which is considered an offence according to Islamic Sharia law. According to the Bodu Bala Sena, the youth bearing passport no. 2353715 identified as Premanath Pereralage Thungasiri has been arrested by Umulmahami Police, which is a grave situation. While the youth is a Buddhist, the charge levelled against him is that he paid obeisance to the Buddha at the house where he was employed.

The Bodu Bala Sena organisation further said those employed in Muslim-majority countries are prevented from practicing their religious faiths, and if found to do so are punished severely. Recently a Sri Lankan woman was arrested for gazing at a child at a shopping complex, where she was accused of witchcraft, on the grounds that she had a black cord around her wrist.

On prior occasions too many Sri Lankan female domestic workers were forced to embrace Islam, and wear the traditional attire, while so far four Sri Lankan youth have been beheaded in that country. (Source: Ceylon Today)

Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocratic monarchy where the religion of Islam is the official religion. Non-Islamic proselytism and conversions are illegal and conversion by Muslims to another religion (apostasy) carries the death penalty. Under Saudia [sic] Arabia Sharia Islamic law, children of Saudi parents are considered Muslim, regardless of the country or the religious tradition in which they may have been raised.

This And That

The Olympics is finally here and I'm pretty excited about it, especially the track and field event, to narrow it down even more, especially the marathon event, where I get to see one of my idols, Meb Keflezighi run. The fact that he's sponsored by the very same sporting shoe brand, Skechers, that I use for my runs is also another reason for my excitement. Unfortunately, I just heard from the wife that the men's marathon event is somewhere in two weeks time is kind of a downer. At least the women's marathon event will be a week earlier so that's a blessing :D In the meantime, I'll just immerse myself in the other events till the marathon starts.

I'm a little under the weather currently with a horribly blocked nose, sneezing fits and sand paper like throat. Normally, it wouldn't bug me much cos I could just sleep it off but unfortunately, tomorrow I have my own mini little Olympic like event to run, a 13.3KM relay run to take part in and having this blasted flu is not going to make that run a very fun thing to do. If it was a solo run, I just might DNS, but since it's a team event, I can't let the team down and run the event even if I have to crawl on all fours tomorrow!

I've just pumped myself up full of Clarinase to clear the blocked nose and taken lozenges for my throat so hopefully that'll be enough to see me through tomorrow. After that event I'm going to take a complete one week break from running to heal the over worked legs and then begin my second marathon training in earnest.

On a different note entirely, I'm shaking my head in utter disbelieve with the clowns we have running this country, especially more so with our very own song writer, the Information minister for coming up with such an utterly horribly intelligence insulting song for our national day celebrations next month. I'm not going to go into details about it cos unless you've been living under a rock somewhere, you would know what I'm talking about.

I won't even begin to talk about the even more horribly design retarded logo they came up with (which I read that even then, it's copied of some logo from a few years back). I'm speaking with the experience I have coming from working in the design and print industry for close to 25 years that I have never seen a logo more distastefully designed than that! I seriously would love to meet the 'creative' fellow who came up with that. As far as I'm concerned, I'm boycotting the national day celebrations and am going to just design some custom t-shirt at FoulMouthShirts.com instead. I truly hope the opposition would just come up with their own national celebrations instead.

With that said and done, happy weekend, folks!

Singapore sex city, sex 4 favours, business, grades

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 05:33 AM PDT

Singapore is indeed a 'sex-charged' country or 'sex city'.

This year alone, three corruption charges have been brought to the court - all of them sex-related.

The first case involves ex-SCDF head,  Peter Benedict Lim Sin Pang who is facing charges of obtaining sexual favours from not one but three women. He is reported to have had sex in a car at a carpark for four out of the ten occasions.

The second case involves ex- Central Narcotics Bureau (NCB) Chief Ng Boon Gay is accused of "receiving sexual favors" from Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, a former employee of Oracle in Singapore in return for "furthering the business interests" of the companies she was working with at the time.

The latest case involves Associate law professor Tey Tsun Hang from the National University of Singapore (NUS) who is charged with six corruption counts of allegedly showing favour to his former student Darinne Ko Wen Hui between May 2010 and July 2010.

Two Ministers and Two Patriotic Songs

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 05:23 AM PDT

On 1987, the late Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat, Minister of Information twice, from 1978 to 1982 during the leadership of Tun Hussein Onn , and from 1987 to 1999 when the leadership of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad . composed a patriotic song called 'Setia'.

In an article written by Andrew Sia of The Star:

Tok Mat, as he is known, freely admits that his job was really as a Propaganda Minister.
In his political memoirs, Umno: Akhir Sebuah Impian (Umno: The End of a Dream), he explains how his ministry's campaigns, such as Setia (Loyalty), were actually a response to the Team A versus Team B split in Umno in 1987.
"I had to bring Malay loyalty back to Umno. And I had to raise a presumption that anybody who supported (Team B led by Tengku Razaleigh then) was not loyal. I went all out in this psychological warfare," he writes.
"The Malays were numb to political arguments ... I needed something that penetrated the heart. I needed a song."
So he wrote one himself: the famous Setia song with its supposedly patriotic lyrics ("Demi negara yang tercinta", or "For our beloved country", goes the first line) that was broadcast for years especially via the Government's RTM (Radio Televisyen Malaysia) stations.
Tok Mat admits in his book that he first used Information Ministry staff in 1977 on a "mission" to topple the PAS State Government of Kelantan.
He reveals that later, in 1995, during the Sabah state elections, he sent 500 ministry staff members to "campaign for Umno" against PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah, which was controlling the state government then).
"The officers went to the ground," he explains in fluent English at a recent interview.
"They rented rooms in villages, they slept and ate like the locals, they gathered information and persuaded the people. This silent propaganda works very well."
Since government machinery is supposed to be neutral, I ask Tok Mat if he considers what he did an abuse of power.
He replies: "You could say I abused radio and TV, but it was a privilege I had. I could not depend on TV3, (The New) Straits Times, Berita Harian or Utusan Malaysia because they were then controlled by Anwar Ibrahim's boys. I had no choice but to use RTM.

Fast forward to 2012. This year, Malaysians will celebrate its 55th year of independence. To commemorate that occasion, the song Janji Ditepati was recently released. The lyrics were written by Information, Communications and Culture Minister Rais Yatim while the melody is by Aye, Jasnie and Arman E six. Look at the lyrics of the song:

Goodbye, Three-In-Ones!

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 04:06 AM PDT

For as long as I have known her, Angela has constantly reminded me that 'Powdered coffee 'creamer' isn't food, it's processed chemicals'. Recently, she sent me the following article. I googled for the source and discovered that it was first published in Natural News.

by Ethan A Huff, Staff Writer, Natural News

Every day, millions of Americans add powdered coffee "creamer" products to their morning cups of coffee because they falsely believe that these substances are somehow healthier than real cream. But little do they know that most coffee creamer products contain no actual cream, or food for that matter, as they are really nothing more than a crafty blend of toxic chemicals.

When powdered coffee creamers first came onto the scene back in the 1950s, they actually contained real dehydrated cream and sugar, which made them a convenient, non-perishable source of cream for coffee. Over time, however, manufacturers began to phase out the cream, and replace it with things like processed vegetables oils, stabilizers, chemical sweeteners, and other additives that were less expensive and that more easily dissolved in coffee.

Today, the average canister of so-called "creamer" substitute contains not a trace of actual food, at least not food in the technical sense of the word. Take the Coffee-Mate brand of coffee creamer, for instance. The original powder flavor contains corn syrup solids, hydrogenated vegetable oils, and a handful of stabilizing, emulsifying, and flavoring chemicals (SOURCE: HERE).

Not only is there no "cream" of any kind in Coffee-Mate's Original Powder, but there are also no natural food ingredients whatsoever. This is why some countries actually require that powdered coffee additives be called "whiteners" rather than "creamers," since they do not actually contain any real cream.

Dr Asri: Tindakan JAIS Pecah Masuk Rumah Rosakkan Imej Islam

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 05:59 AM PDT

-TMI

JAIS serbu rumah tanpa waran, pecahkan pintu pagar

Mahkamah Tolak Permohonan Lynas Corporation

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 02:12 AM PDT

-selangorku

Introducing the Celtic Thunder

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 01:00 AM PDT

Celtic Thunder is the name of two different music groups. The original Celtic Thunder began performing traditional Irish music in Washington, D.C. in 1977.

The original Celtic Thunder played its first gig in May of 1977 at the Harp Pub in Baltimore, and went on to become one of the most influential traditional music groups in the U.S. Called "a great Irish band" by the Village Voice and "one of the best Irish folk acts in America" by The Washington Post, Celtic Thunder has released three albums. The band's second album, The Light of Other Days, won the Indie award for Best Celtic Album.

The band's founders are brothers Jesse Winch (bodhran, bouzouki, guitar, harmonica) and Terry Winch (button accordion). The Winches, first generation Americans, learned their craft alongside their father, Patrick Winch, and his friend P.J. Conway, as they played for traditional Irish ceilis in New York City in the 1950s.

Along with another original member, Linda Hickman (flute, whistle, vocals), the band has featured Laura Murphy (lead vocals), Regan Wick (piano, Irish step-dance), Nita Conley (vocals, guitar, piano), Steve Hickman (fiddle, harmonica, vocals), Tony DeMarco (fiddle), Dominick Murray (vocals, guitar), Rob Thornburgh (fiddle, vocals), Marty Somberg (fiddle), and Patrick Orseau (fiddle).

The Celtic Thunder band should not be confused with the PBS TV production (and related CD/DVD), which features a variety of commercial Irish and non-Irish material sung by an assortment of male vocalists and others, and who also calls itself Celtic Thunder.

The group known for its specials on PBS is a singing group composed of male soloists who perform both solo and ensemble numbers. Celtic Thunder debuted in August 2007 at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland.[1] They are accompanied by the Celtic Concert Orchestra under the direction of Phil Coulter, the musical director of the group. Siapa Yang Terjejas Tanpa Cukai Eksais, Protonkah Atau Perut Tun?

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 01:08 AM PDT

Kereta nasional tetap murah tanpa duti eksais

"Dulu nak mansuh PTPTN (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional) ... sekarang cukai eksais kereta pula.

... sedangkan kita belum mencapai status negara maju lagi," tegasnya.

"Saya nak tanya Rafizi, siapa yang buatkan negara banyak duit, seperti yang dia selalu kata banyak duit negara kerajaan habiskan. Pakatan?" soalnya lagi.

"Itulah Pakatan Rakyat. Mereka berpakat untuk menipu rakyat sahaja.

"Rakyat jangan mudah terpedaya dgn janji-janji palsu mereka ni," tambahnya lagi.

Salleh Man Terima Surat Perlantikan Sebagai YDP MAINPP, Fitnah UMNO Terkambus

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 10:42 PM PDT

UN human rights leader calls for ‘independent’ Rakhine State investigation

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Friday called for a "prompt, independent" investigation into ongoing human rights violations in Burma's Arakan (Rakhine) State after ongoing violence between the Buddhist and Muslim communities.

We have been receiving a stream of reports from independent sources alleging discriminatory and arbitrary responses by security forces, and even their instigation of and involvement in clashes," said Commissioner Navi Pillay said.

"Reports indicate that the initial swift response of the authorities to the communal violence may have turned into a crackdown targeting Muslims, in particular members of the Rohingya community."

Meanwhile, Tomas Quintana, the UN expert on human rights in Burma, will visit the country for four days starting on Tuesday, at the invitation of the government.

Quintana will visit Arakan State for one day said the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in a statement on Friday. Quintana will report his findings to the UN Human Rights Council, OHCHR said.

The violence in Arakan State in western Burma has claimed up to 78 lives and thousands of homes and businesses were burned during June.

High Commissioner Pillay said, "The government has a responsibility to prevent and punish violent acts, irrespective of which ethnic or religious group is responsible, without discrimination and in accordance with the rule of law."

Pillay expressed dismay at the derogatory language used against the Rohingya by state-run media, some independent media, and social networking websites.

She noted earlier commitments by the government that said it would conduct an investigation and a recent fact-finding mission by the Myanmar Human Rights Commission.

"I also welcome the government's decision to allow the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar access to Rakhine State during his planned mission to Myanmar next week. It is important that those affected from all communities in Rakhine are able to speak freely to the Special Rapporteur," the High Commissioner said.

"But while he will be able to make an initial assessment during his one-day visit, this is no substitute for a fully-fledged independent investigation," she said.

She also called on Burmese national leaders to speak out against discrimination, the exclusion of minorities and racist attitudes, and in support of equal rights for all, and stressed that the United Nations was making an effort to protect and assist all communities in Rakhine State.

"Prejudice and violence against members of ethnic and religious minorities run the risk of dividing the country in its commendable national reconciliation efforts, undermine national solidarity, and upset prospects of peace-building," she said.

This week, the European Commission, the US, Asean, Islamic organizations and Quintana, the UN special human rights reporter, have called for access to western Burma by humanitarian groups and for a credible investigation.

Earlier this week, 58 civil society groups condemned what it said is a "wave of abuse launched by state authorities in Myanmar against the Rohingya community," in a statement released on Tuesday.

It also charged Bangladesh with flouting international law in its attempts to prevent fleeing Rohingya from entering the country.

The coalition group – led by Refugees International, the Arakan Project, and the Equal Rights Trust – issued a series of recommendations that were delivered to the governments of Burma and Bangladesh on Tuesday.

"In Myanmar, what began as inter-communal violence has evolved into large scale state-sponsored violence against the Rohingya," said the statement.

"Many Rohingya continue to be victims of violence and cannot leave their homes for fear of persecution, and are thus deprived of their livelihood and most basic needs," said the advocacy groups. "The urgent humanitarian needs of those displaced (IDPs) – including those not in IDP camps – are not being adequately met and there is concern that those displaced will not be allowed to return to their homes as soon as it is safe to do so, thus creating a situation of protracted displacement."

Power never takes a back step
by Josh Hong

So, High Court judge Rohana Yusof quashed Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein's order last year declaring Bersih unlawful. In other words, the umbrella group that is made up of more than 60 NGOs can now function as a legal entity with head held high.

It is vindication for the Bersih 2.0 steering committee, especially for Ambiga Sreenevasan, Pak Samad Said and Maria Chin Abdullah.

And also a small victory in Malaysians' long and tumultuous walk for political freedom.

Of far greater significance are Justice Rohana's remarks that "in my view, the decision is tainted with irrationality... The decision to declare Bersih unlawful was made without taking into account some relevant facts or by taking into account irrelevant facts".

This is a damning verdict on the home minister who claims to hold a master's degree in law from the now not-so-prestigious London School of Economics.

In plain language, Hishammuddin is simply kepala angin and his paranoid behaviour before the two Bersih rallies - July 2011 and in April this year - was nothing but befitting a mad dog.

Then again, the quality - or the lack of it - of this particular Umno princeling has always been highly controversial, and his keris-waving antics were a major contributing factor to Umno's losing Malay votes that remain vivid in the minds of many.

No amount of whitewashing will be able to erase that racist and jingoistic image of his from public memory.

When a group of cow-head protesters hurled insults at the Hindus in August 2009, Hishammuddin - whose father is fondly remembered as a gentle statesman - rushed to their defence by arguing pig heads had been used to stir up Muslim sentiments.

Still, any seasoned lawyer will know two wrongs never make a right, and the correct approach was to condemn both, instead of practically endorsing the act of either of them by appealing for 'understanding' in front of the media.

Persistently high crime rates continue to plague Hishammuddin's records. He and the inspector-general of police may blame them on 'perception', but facts speak for themselves. Car parks in shopping malls are no longer safe, while break-ins are as banal as one's frequenting a mamak stall across Malaysia.

Tell missions to remove travel advice

Who are now the best people for the home minister to consult as to whether the rising crime rates are merely a public perception? Malacca state exco member Latiff Tamby Chik and Faizah Shuib, widow of the late former deputy home minister during Mahathir's era?

If the government is so certain that KL is as safe as Singapore or Oslo, perhaps it can tell the foreign missions, such as Austria and Ireland, to remove their travel advice over street crimes in our capital.

One may ask how on earth the worst-performing and internationally notorious home minister has been able to keep his job until now? It has to do with the fact that removal of Hishammuddin from cabinet will entail severe consequences for Najib Abdul Razak, the apprentice prime minister who is best known for being adverse to taking risks.

Najib may look popular according to surveys, but he has no faithful allies in government, thanks partly to his vainglorious wife. Given Hishammuddin's fleeting loyalty and opportunistic character - who once praised Mahathir profusely as his 'idol' and conveniently forgot his own father's and grandfather's contributions to forging ethnic unity - even kinship ties can become fragile before the temptation of power.

As Malcolm X put it succinctly: power never takes a back step - only in the face of more power.

Hishammuddin now sees himself just two steps away from Seri Perdana, and any attempt to block him will likely result in a concerted effort to engineer an early downfall of Najib involving Muhyddin Yassin, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (another infamous fence-sitter) and, no doubt, Mahathir Mohamad, who has been scheming for his son Mukhriz to be fast-tracked into cabinet.

So, expect him to stay put.

But the docile, almost slavish mainstream media are equally responsible for sustaining Hishammuddin in his position. Other than Utusan Malaysia, the New Straits Times, Berita Harian and The Star that are now completely written off for their propagandistic deception, the Sin Chew Daily, too, is in the habit of back-scratching.

Don't forget: on the eve of the Bersih 2.0 protest last year, several Sin Chew senior journalists spin-doctored the rally - which was in full compliance with our constitution - as being unlawful and an attempt to subvert the 'rule of law'.

Now that the High Court has chastised Hishammuddin for his reckless behaviour, the self-congratulatory Sin Chew must issue an apology for distorting the good intentions of the Bersih 2.0 steering committee or make itself a laughing stock with its own assertion to 'uphold integrity'.

So must Hishammuddin.

Or maybe it does not really matter any more, since a large segment of the Malaysian electorate is ready to punish him and his cohorts through the ballot box.
