Ernest's Mural At Chew Jetty – Boy On Boat – Went to Chew Jetty last week to check out the mural by Ernest Zacharevic which is about a boy with fishing rod on a sampan. I'm so outdated already because it had been there for like a month. Anyway, I still want to go check it out and capture photo because it's cute.
Weather wasn't that nice that day, it was hazy, humid and hot! Argh. I couldn't spend a long time under the hot sun, it's very uncomfortable as I was unprepared. Just went there spontaneously and did not expect the weather to be so hot.
Here's Hueisean with the mural. It's drawn on the wall of a homestay wooden house at Chew Jetty.

Famous Super Hokkien Mee Behind Penang Plaza – This Hokkien Prawn Mee is quite famous among Penangite as it's often known for waiting long to be served and also sold out very early by 9am +++. Super Hokkien Mee is the name of the store, it's just a gimmick telling you that it's 'SUPER'. Haha.
Located behind of Penang Plaza in a coffee shop called One Corner Cafe on Jalan Bawasah, Super Hokkien Mee started selling early in the morning for breakfast. I went there few days ago with my friends to check out how good it was. We ordered at 8.30am and were told that we have to wait until 9am. That's fine for us.
Pricing was surprisingly higher at RM4.50 per bowl, just like KL-price. You know, you still can find RM2.50/bowl of Hokkien Prawn Noodle at Cecil Street Market. How about the taste? The soup does indeed taste sweeter with a strong aroma of prawn, probably cooked with lots of prawn shell. Tiny prawn slices can be seen in the soup and unfortunately, boiled egg was not present in the soup.
Overall, it tastes good, but somehow might lazy to wait and wake up early for it again. XD Will try another one that sells out early at Pulau Tikus soon.

-SH

Some people find that they cannot pay attention and have a tendency to daydream when they have gone through three or four pages without remembering a word. One cure for this is to stop reading and deliberately seek some distraction, then return to what you were reading with renewed attention. Get up and walk around, get a coffee, draw a picture, count your pocket change - anything. Then pick up the document again and take up from where you left off. No-one can tell you exactly what to do if your mind wanders when you read, because to some degree this problem is an individual one which you must work out for yourself. The important thing is to do something about it, not just tell yourself, as so many people do: "I can't concentrate".
Perhaps the best general advice is: Do not mix play and work. When it is time to work, work hard. Apply yourself to your task and keep going as long as you can give the job full attention. You should be able to read for at least an hour or two without interruption. When you begin to feel that you are not getting as much out of your reading as you ought to, rest for a while. But if there is more work remaining to be done, make the rest period short. It is surprising how quickly you can refresh your mind by turning to something entirely different for a few minutes. It does not take long to get your mind out of a rut, and when you return to the report or book, you will be alert and ready to go at it with a mind refreshed.
What is critical is your reading speed however. If you read too slowly you give your brain the chance to wander on to something more interesting - especially if what you are reading is boring! So learning to read fast with effective levels of concentration and comprehension is a far better use of time than wandering along at a slow reading speed, allowing all sorts of other thoughts to distract you.
If this suggestion does not solve your problem, there is another thing you can do. Form the habit of reading in the same place each time you read. Make this place, wherever it may be, in the office or at the desk in your study, a place for "concentrated" reading. Write your reports and fill out your crossword puzzles somewhere else. After you have tried this for a week or two, you will find that your habits will begin to work for you, which does not mean of course, that they will take over the whole process. There is still the matter of will power.

Over the past days I have been rummaging through my store room, digging out my old cassette tapes. There is quite a lot in the two boxes, about 350 of them. And I'm not even counting the old cassette tapes that a friend passed on to me last year. If I were to add them to my own personal collection, I would dare say that the number would be close to 600.
Among them, I discovered that I still had 14 pieces of new cassette tapes that have not been opened at all. Type I cassette tapes mostly with a few Type II tapes thrown in. "Don't unwrap them, a facebook friend told me. Antique pieces, he said. Ha ha, I'll believe him when someone makes me a jolly good offer for them!
So I took my screw drivers to the cassette deck. Opened it and the first thing I saw were the two broken belts. No wonder he could no longer play his cassettes. By a dint of good luck, I was able to locate the specific replacement belts for this model. Cost me about RM60 just to have them delivered from overseas but it was worth it because I'm now able to use it to play my old cassette tapes.
I was surprised when I pulled out the two boxes of old tapes from the store room. Most of them are still in rather good condition, which means they are still playable. Many of them are originals but about half were collections of songs compiled by the old record shops in George Town.
A pretty nostalgic journey, I tell you, just by looking at the cassette tape covers. The earliest cassette tape I ever bought was in 1979 but by the late 1980s, my cassette tapes had been replaced by compact discs. Still, much of the music on the cassettes are now unavailable on any other media. It will make good sense for me to digitise the collection. If I have the time, that is....

Masuk PAS: Kontrak Abby jadi duta tudung ditamatkan
-mk
Karut betul tindakan syarikat tudung (AlHumaira Contemporary) berkenaan.
Pengeluar tudung bukan satu.
Rezeki itu di tangan Allah. Kita berharap Abby Abadi bersabar.
Baru 1 jam dilancarkan sudah mendapat respons LIKE seramai 705 orang.

"Life is a series of steps. Things are done gradually. Once in awhile there is a giant step, but most of the time we are taking small, seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway of life." ~Ralph Ranson.
There are many good reasons why the title above is so, and one really good reason. Here are a few of the good reasons:
• Genuine success at anything requires understanding your fundamental purpose in trying to do the thing and then finding the best perspective to carry it out. These places in time and space aren't easy to spot and take lots of hunting time and effort.
• What you really want and how you define things like success and failure and surviving and thriving, are usually done by the trial and error method and are forever growing. Also, sometimes you really don't know what you want until you have enough of what you don't want to know the difference.
• In order to graduate from surviving to thriving you have to become a master reality repairer and that requires knowing and acting on the truth about how people and life actually operate, apart from what you think you know. Obviously getting to this level of wisdom doesn't occur overnight.
• Negative thoughts and failures are permanently perceived realities that aren't so easily "deleted" in your mind and heart; subtle negativity is even harder to "catch and release." We all have blind spots that are invisible to us.
• We have much more experience at failing to survive than succeeding to thrive, which is most often a entirely new and unfamiliar experience, requiring dedicated experimentation and practice. And, the proper feedback only comes in the form of later consequences of the results you get.
• Most people fail to survive because they quit too soon (instant need gratification), and this is even truer with the journey to the door to thriving. This last door is often just around the next corner you are most likely to give up on getting to.
Now the one really good reason why it is so difficult to go from surviving to thriving has to do with a very fundamental belief we all have about life. We can either believe: (a) There are two opposite and warring forces in life—good and bad—that work for or against us, or (b) There is really only one force in life that is good as the ultimate reality and we wrongly interpret and act on it as having an ugly twin.
At best, the first belief can only lead to a 50% survival success rate, whereas the second belief is the only reliable path to thriving. What is most amazing is why it takes so long for this second belief to surface and gain the following it deserves. That is a question for all time.
Practically speaking, many of us lean towards the single force belief. However, true thriving can't involve even subtle doubts that creep into occupying the space between you and your noble goals. The leaning has to let go to a full and "hold-back nothing, close your eyes, hold your breath and jump in with all fours" kind of embracing. That sort of total commitment isn't so common because it is putting all your eggs in one basket; we generally don't think that is such a good idea so we hide a few reserve baskets. Consider this story:
A pig and chicken were walking down the sidewalk of main street one Saturday morning. They both noticed a sign in the diner window that read, 'Ham and egg breakfast—all you can eat for $ 1.50.' "Wow," said the chicken, "That's quite a deal!" The pig responded, "Well that is easy for you to say." "After all, all you are doing is making a small contribution, but for me it is a total commitment."
The outcome of having single-mindedness about life is never disputable. Anything less than a full and utter commitment to single-mindedness gets half-baked results in the big scheme of things. This is in spite of the convincingly compelling case for sticking with the dual, good vs. bad belief.
In a paradoxical way, understanding the reasons for the difficulties that confront us in first trying to survive and then eventually thrive, makes them a little easier to overcome. Thriving is the most difficult thing to do in life, but it is not impossible.

I am not calling him stupid for such a remark but he should have known that what the BN government is doing now is also 'Islamic' in many ways.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had said that the present cause of the Federal Government is based on the requirements of Islam under the concept of 'Maqasid Al-Shariah'.
Among the policies of the Maqasid Al-Shariah practiced by the government was to preserve and empower Islam but at the same time, it also protected and respected the human rights of both the Muslims and non-Muslims.
In respecting the human rights of the Malaysian people, he said the government had abolished the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Barisan Nasional is certainly not isolating or ignoring Islam but its cause is the struggle that is required by Islam. Islam is moderate and Muslims must be moderate. Any forms of fanaticism and extremism are deplorable.
And Islam does not separate the mosques from churches. That's why the government had acted to quash out Al-Maunnah from Sauk and Ibrahim Libya in Memali, Baling. In many other cases, deviated cults were also banned, including Al-Arqam, if Guan Eng can recall.
I hope the Penang Chief Minister understands what is hudud in the true context before politicising it, hoping to get some mileage from PAS and to see the government takes a rupture.
MCA, Gerakan and MIC had long understood the moderate Islamic administration within Barisan Nasional and such an approach had augured well in keeping up with the rights of the non-Muslims to practice their faith and doing what they want as long as it is doesn't break any law.
So, don't try to turn the tables on your political foes MCA and Gerakan because they are the moderate parties and their leaders and members are also the moderate ones, unlike you people in DAP and your partners in Pakatan Rakyat.
And who is telling you that Umno supports PAS' hudud?
You should instead give more attention to PAS for its refusal to compromise on its plan to implement hudud law should Pakatan wins the next general election. What have you done to stop them when your dad Kit Siang and Karpal Singh were so sharp in hammering Nik Aziz and Hadi Awang?
Got no balls to join them? Or you simply dont want to interfere because you enjoy the free ride on PAS in Penang! I think you yourself like hudud!
Its good that you also defended PAS by saying that while the Islamist party only wanted to implement hudud to Muslims in the country, Umno had wanted to implement Islamic laws on all Malaysians. From where did you get such a story?
Guan Eng, bro! The national transformation policy, through the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and the Economic Transformation Programme, was centred on the Maqasid Al-Shariah
Maintaining accounts, protecting respect and origins and preserving the assets through a strong economy, these are principles of the Maqasid Al-Shariah. In addition, the 1Malaysia People's Textile Shop represents another element of the Maqasid Al-Shariah.
So, stop talking nonsense. If your intention is just to see MCA, Gerakan, MIC and other non-Muslim parties to leave the political pact, you should try again and again because as far as MCA is concerned, they are comfortable with BN and the Islam of Umno.
Besides religious observance, Islam also placed importance on good morals among the people. The concept of merging the intellect with religion was also important in the development of Islamic leadership and civilisation.
Muslims were also facing a challenge when Islam was not perceived as a goal that should be championed and instead made as a tool to achieve a political objective.
That's why there is chaos among the Muslims. Starting from an uncertain direction...one minute championing an Islamic nation, the next minute changing to a welfare state, then there is hudud right up to the problem that we read in the newspapers about husband and wife separating due to politics.
So, YAB Ustaz Lim Guan Eng, please stop saying what you are not certain of. It does not reflect the level of your maturity. Even your politics really suck!

A farmer was sitting in the neighborhood bar getting drunk. A man came in and asked the farmer, "Hey, why are you sitting here on this beautiful day, getting drunk?"
The farmer shook his head and replied, "Some things you just can't explain."
"So what happened that's so horrible?" the man asked as he sat down next to the farmer.
"Well," the farmer said, "today I was sitting by my cow, milking her. Just as I got the bucket full, she lifted her left leg and kicked over the bucket."
"Okay," said the man, "but that's not so bad."
"Some things you just can't explain," the farmer replied.
"So what happened then?" the man asked.
The farmer said, "I took her left leg and tied it to the post on the left."
"Well, I sat back down and continued to milk her. Just as I got the bucket full, she took her right leg and kicked over the bucket."
The man laughed and said, "Again?"
The farmer replied, "Some things you just can't explain."
"So, what did you do then?" the man asked.
"I took her right leg this time and tied it to the post on the right."
"Well, I sat back down and began milking her again. Just as I got the bucket full, the stupid cow knocked over the bucket with her tail."
"Hmmm," the man said and nodded his head.
"Some things you just can't explain," the farmer said.
"So, what did you do?" the man asked.
"Well," the farmer said, "I didn't have any more rope, so I took off my belt and tied her tail to the rafter. In that moment, my pants fell down and my wife walked in...
Some things you just can't explain."
A burglar was going through a condo, he came across a parrot, and the parrot said, "God is watching you." The burglar just ignored it.
The parrot said, more loudly this time, "God is watching you, and Jesus is coming!"
The burglar asked the parrot, "If you're so smart, then what's your name?"
The parrot replied, "Moses."
"What kind of moron names a parrot Moses?" laughed the burglar.
The parrot replied, "The same fool who named his two pit bulls God and Jesus."
The Snooty Receptionist
There's nothing worse than a snooty doctor's receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong in a room full of other patients. I know we all have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it.
An 86 year old man walked into a crowded doctor's office.
As he approached the desk, the receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you seeing the doctor for today?"
"There's something wrong with my penis," he replied.
The receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a crowded office and say things like that."
"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.
The receptionist replied, "You've obviously caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and then discussed the problem further with the doctor in private."
The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered.
The receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes?"
"There's something wrong with my ear," he stated.
The receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice. "And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?" "I can't piss out of it," the man replied.
The doctor's office erupted in laughter.
Doctor, my sex drive is too high!
An 80 year old man went to the doctor.
The doctor asked him what was wrong.
The man said "My sex drive is too high, I want you to lower it."
The doctor said "You are 80 years old and you want your sex drive lowered?"
Yes, the man replied, as he points to his head and says
"it's all up here, and I want it lowered
The Taco Bell Chihuahua, a Doberman and a Bulldog are in a bar having adrink when a great-looking female Collie comes up to them and says, "Whoever can say liver and cheese in a sentence can have me."
So the Doberman says, "I love liver and cheese." The Collie replies, "That's not good enough."
The Bulldog says, "I hate liver and cheese." She says, "That's not creative enough."
Finally, the Chihuahua says, "Liver alone......cheese mine."
A frog telephones a psychic hotline and is told, "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."

-Muhammad Hanifa Hamdzah

BBC documentary on the fate of Singapore during the Second World War - and the role of a number of English people who helped the Japanese. This documentary will show what a great arsehole Winston Churchill was! He too indirectly contributed to the carnage in Asia. Also two British arseholes, one an aristocrat and an air ace, betrayed Britain. The people in the colonies paid with their lives, fighting the Japanese for Britain (mere canon fodder). Guess what, nothing much was done to the aristocrat, the air ace who was not an aristocrat, was only interned for a mere two years. Millions died, they were responsible for Pearl Harbor, the fall of Malaya and Singapore. 1 Hour. Just like in Malaysia today, people in high places become untouchables.

Most if us are incredibly comfortable in our own homes. It is where all of our comforts are kept. Part of the daily grind of a job is having to leave the home. The task is much more difficult if you have children to consider. Many of us would love to be able to work from home. We are more comfortable and can be much more productive. However, very few regular jobs offer this type of flexibility

-SH
