PR's leaders believe their track records in the states they govern adequately show their ability to administer the country. — File pic

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 ― Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders are convinced of their fitness to govern the country if Barisan Nasional (BN) loses hold of Putrajaya in the coming polls, pointing to their achievements in the four states they currently lead. The three-party pact of DAP, PKR and PAS now administer the states of Selangor, Penang, Kedah and Kelantan, following their historic electoral performance in Election 2008 when they denied BN its customary two-thirds parliamentary majority.

DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua noted that in 2008, PR had not expected to make the gains it did, much less being voted into four state administrations.

"But we succeeded," he said. "Now, we are really ready and that is proof that we are ready to rule."

Today, the Petaling Jaya Utara MP added that it PR will be judged based on its policies and not just the personalities behind them.

"The policies are more important… it does not matter who becomes a minister, it is the policy (that matters)," he said.

"It doesn't matter who is elected (from PR), we are definitely much better (than BN)."

In a forum on Sunday, several political observers questioned PR's readiness to rule the country if it wins the coming polls, saying that there were many unresolved issues that could blight the pact's performance.

The observers pointed to the protracted and unresolved dispute between Islamist party PAS and secular DAP over the formation of an Islamic state and implementation of hudud law, a contentious topic in Muslim-majority but secular Malaysia.

Lawyer Andrew Khoo pointed out that PR has also not formed a "shadow Cabinet" to indicate their suggested replacements for the current BN administration, saying this restricts the pact's credibility and confidence in its readiness to govern.

"Although they have a common policy in Buku Jingga… (the) inability or reluctance of PR to form a shadow Cabinet… has meant they are unable to articulate what their policy is going to be," he had said.

Like Pua, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub also disagreed with the observers and recounted PR's achievements in the states it governs as an example of the pact's ability.

He said PR's track record was strong enough to dispel doubts over the abilities of its leaders, even if they have never governed the entire country.

"I feel what is more important is our integrity and our track record… these are the most valuable assets that the PR governments have shown they possess.

"We have produced many qualified leaders who can be trusted… no misappropriation or abuse like leaders from BN," said the Kubang Kerian MP, adding that he was proud of PR's mentri besars and chief minister.

"For three consecutive years, the Auditor-General's Report has proven that we have governed well," he said.

Agreeing with her colleagues, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said that not only did PR's track record prove its competence, the pact's joint manifesto has also bound all three parties together and shown that they are a united front.

"World history and democracies have shown that it is the wants and choices of the people that will decide who should be given the mandate to rule.

"If the people's aspirations are not fulfilled, the people will be the judge and select a replacement… on national level, almost all policies and issues of PR have been used by BN," she said.

The BN coalition has been the only federal government since the country was formed, having previously ruled as the Alliance Party.

Pengerusi & Timb Pengerusi SPR Perlu Letak Jawatan Segera Atau Mahu Masuk Penjara?

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 10:03 AM PDT

Pengundi luar negara desak bos SPR undur

The Shame That Killed The Baby

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 08:00 AM PDT

More than 14 years ago, I sat patiently I sat in the waiting room of my gyny's clinic waiting for my turn. Before me was a leggy beauty who looked quite familiar...I was not sure who she was until it was my turn to see the doctor.

As always, I greeted my doctor and after the usual procedures, she asked me if I knew the patient. Naturally, I said she was vaguely familiar and that she could be an undergraduate. Later on, I was told that the beauty was studying in Australia and was pregnant. However, her boyfriend had abandoned her and she had decided to go through the pregnancy and put up her baby for adoption to barren couple who wanted to adopt the baby. She did not come home for a year and stayed at a friend's home to hide her pregnancy. Apparently, she graduated, became very successful in the corporate world in another Asian country and recently married an expatriate. She is smart, lucky, successful and most importantly, gave that love child a chance to live. But not all have such happy endings.

Last Sunday, a twenty year old unwed mother flung her newborn out of the window of her third floor apartment at the Desa Mentari Apartments in Petaling Jaya after hiding her pregnancy for months. Who killed the baby?

Check out the following editorial taken from HERE.

IT WAS SHAME THAT KILLED THE BABY - The Star Says

SHE hid her pregnancy for many agonising months. But when she finally gave birth, her "secret" unravelled in the most horrifying way when she flung her newborn out of the window of her third floor apartment.

On the surface, the infant was killed by her 20-year-old unwed mother. But look deeper and it is actually shame that took away that little baby's life.

Because this almost unimaginable act which took place on Sunday in the Desa Mentari Apartments in Petaling Jaya is an indictment of how our society treats unmarried mothers and babies born out of wedlock.

The 20-year-old, a factory worker, is not the first mother to kill her child in such a horrifying way. Last October, a 19-year-old restaurant trainee also threw her baby out of her second floor apartment in Selayang. That baby too was alive when he was thrown out. Other women have resorted to trying to flush their infants down toilets, throwing them into dumpsters or simply abandoning them.

Each time it happens, we start our litany on declining morals, lack of religious knowledge and negligent parents.

Then, we follow up with a chorus on the need for spiritual guidance, sex education and vigilance. We even set up a few baby hatches for mothers to leave their unwanted offspring.

If the "soft" approach didn't work, the authorities can threaten to charge these young mothers with murder, and judges can mete out heavy deterrent punishments.

We have done this song and dance repeatedly, but the same scenes keep playing a girl hides her pregnancy, gives birth alone and the baby is abandoned or dies. The child is either discovered mercifully alive or tragically dead and then the ensuing uproar.

In the last five years, more than 400 cases of abandoned babies have been reported and the mothers are almost always teenage girls.

We can be outraged all we want, and focus our anger at these young women.

But ultimately, it is we who have failed these girls.

These baby-dumping cases are direct indictments of our failure to recognise and address our blinkered approach to young people's sexuality. We teach and preach to our children that they should abstain from premarital sex, and expect them to obey blindly. Then, we clam up and do not talk about sex to them, as though acknowledging its existence would be some form of consent for them to engage in sex.

It has only created an unforgiving environment where pregnant girls would not seek help for fear of bringing shame to their families, and risk the community's condemnation.

We do this vigorously, even as our children are inundated with sexually-charged messages through the media and Internet, and even with so much evidence of young people being sexually active.

We offer them no strategy other than abstinence. We terrorise our children especially girls into being ashamed of their bodies and sexuality.

It is a scenario that creates a veil of ignorance, and the result are babies born out of unwanted pregnancies.

Sure, we can continue to be in denial and think that engaging in premarital sex is a moral issue. But young people being sexually active really is a public health matter that requires pragmatic policies.

The reality is our young do not have easy access to reproductive health information and services; some of these young mothers didn't even know they were pregnant. There are also few facilities and services for them to learn about and prevent unwanted pregnancies, and protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases.

But beyond all that, we need to stop the condemnation and do what is right by our children. We need to end the shame, remove the stigma and instead offer compassion and support when they need it most.

The Technological Milestone

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 06:46 AM PDT

Check out 2012 – The Most Important Year Yet in Technology by Alex Daley AT THIS LINK.

I was particularly interested in second half of the article that discussed The Rise of the Robot.

Excerpt:

The Rise of the Robot

Robotics is not a new industry; any autoworker can attest to that. The very first robotic welding system was launched in 1964 in a General Motors plant in NJ. Ever since, the public imagination has been fired by visions of a world where robots replaced deadening human labor in every factory and warehouse, and robotic butlers served our every whim.

While nothing quite like either scenario has occurred in the ensuing years, industrial robotics has been growing at a steady pace, and now has become a $12 billion dollar per year industry. Robots provide precision welding at a breakneck pace; they lift and twist and turn remarkably heavy items; and take on other work that would be dangerous if not impossible for people do manually. But, while the industry continues to grow, it does so at an anemic pace, just barely outpacing global GDP growth.

However, there is another half to the market: service robots. Roughly defined, it's anything not industrial. Or, anything that doesn't help manufacture something. Instead, service robots help us complete more traditional service tasks, from cleaning to delivery. These helpful robots got their start as multi-armed offspring of their industrial brethren in the medical system, helping perform surgeries too delicate for clumsy human hands alone, like this Da Vinci surgical system from Intuitive Surgical:

The growth rate of medical robotics has been astounding and, as uptake from hospitals has skyrocketed, Intuitive has been one of the most successful stocks of the past decade for investors.

However, these types of human-assisted robotics are still a vestige of an earlier age, where robots were fighting with one arm tied behind their back. Or, rather, they were all arms, but were deaf and blind without even a sense of touch to guide them, making it difficult for them to navigate our complex human world.

That's now being addressed with a combination of better and cheaper sensors, and a little bit of intelligence. A number of things had to come together to enable robots to take to the ground (and even in some cases, the air):

· Sensors to navigate the world with. Pioneered mostly by the military—for use in spy satellites, fighter planes and night vision goggles– sophisticated sensors now allow robots to avoid falling down stairs or to judge the distance to an object passing through its path, and they have fallen dramatically in price over the years.

· Algorithms to efficiently navigate in a complicated environment. It's easy enough for everyone except a teenager to figure out how to clean an entire room, but try teaching your laptop how to vacuum. It's an amazingly hard task for a programmer. Add in people and other moving obstructions you can't just run into, and it,s taken decades of programming research to teach computers to move in the real world. But we've done it.

· The power to get the job done. The same technology enhancing electric cars– even if they aren't up to par with gasoline, the rate of change will get them there at some point as they are gaining ground steadily – and making it possible to hold a powerful computer in your jeans' pocket, is now giving robots the power sources they need to enable them to do serious computation and move around the world for hours at a time. Lower power requirements from the increasingly smaller and cheaper components are helping as well.

Those smarts, eyes and ears, and better power sources have all advanced to the point where we can now strap wheels on our robots and get them to do all sorts of things, like the latest, and cheapest yet, robotic lawnmower from Honda. Saturday mornings may never be the same. And, that robotic grass clipper is just one of an arsenal of gutter cleaning, floor mopping, and vacuuming robots now available to save you hours of labor at home.

While you may have seen a few of these home service robots, or may even own one or two of them like I do, the commercial applications are where the autonomous rubber is really meeting the road today.

[BONGKAR] Skandal Noh Omar.. Memiliki Kekayaan Luar Biasa Bhgn 1

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 07:42 AM PDT

Nor bin Haji Abd. Hamid (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Semua pengusaha-pengusaha benih padi tahu hal ini).

Walaubagaimanapun, Syarikat Kilang Beras Seri Merbok Sdn.

KEKAYAAN LUAR BIASA NOH OMAR

Pegawai Khas beliau, Datuk Bibah mempunyai kereta mewah (Toyota Alphard) beserta pemandu.

Petikan:

GB lihat macam buat-buat mengamuk supaya kelihatan jantan macho gitu...
sebab banyk sangat skandal Noh Omar ni.. kalau tak tunjukkan jantan macho,
takut terbarai semua... :)

Banduan Lepaskan Diri Dari Kereta Polis Ditangkap Semula

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 04:55 AM PDT

Ketua Polis Daerah Kuantan, Asisten Komisioner Mohd.

Beliau berkata, pemandu lori berkenaan, Mohd.

[DAHSYAT] Pengawal Keselamatan Larikan RM1.2 Juta Setelah Tembak Rakan Sekerja

Posted: 19 Sep 2012 03:03 AM PDT

Ketua Polis Daerah Taiping, Asisten Komisioner Yusof Mohd.

Najib, Rais, MCMC and TM must read this!

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 10:38 PM PDT

Don't blame Rais Yatim and his ministry. The MCMC, one of the agencies under Rais purview is not the only one to shoulder the burden.

Its the system, the government's regulation and over-protectionism for some of its GLCs. While the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture is responsible to sanction, recommend and implement, some of the government's unpractical policies are just there to stay!

We are inching toward becoming a fully-developed nation by the year 2020, and that is less than eight years from now. However, major hiccups in the telecommunication sector is dampening a comprehensive effort in enhancing the sector and its related services.

According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2012-2013, Malaysia's position in the area of international internet bandwidth took a significant slump, from 60th to 83rd among the 144 countries under the survey.

Our broadband internet subscription per 100 population also slipped from 62nd to 68th while our position in mobile broadband subscription per 100 population stood at 64, worse than than of some African nations!

So, how will the telecommunication and communication sectors cushion the impact of hefty demand for such services when we near 2020?

Being some of the factors that contributed to Malaysia's downward standing (from 21st to 25th), the government, via Rais ministry should consider taking up a more aggressive approach in gearing up such services.

The MCMC, especially those appointed to steer it must open up their mind to new ideas, keeping abreast with latest technology and adopting a more friendlier engagement to new players in the communication industry.

Rais' ministry has a challenging task in meeting the demands and also in meting problems of constraint expertise in the area. The status of a developed nation will not be complete without a commanding telecommunication and communication facilities.

While the government should also open up the doors to new players with the right set of technology in telecommunication sector, the MCMC must also engage them (the new players) in a more positive manner, and not by telling them 'I will pull (revoke) your license' during a handshake! I don't want to name the MCMC personel but I hope such a bad attitude will change or we will take you to task over your arrogance!

What is our broadband penetration rate now? About 62 per cent? With a 2 per cent acceleration rate per annum, we will only be able to cover about 76 per cent of the nation by year 2020, and that will not reflect the status of a fully-developed nation.

The government, on the other hand is not contributing much. Its policy in protecting some of its GLCs, particularly Telekom Malaysia (TM) is hindering MCMC and others in finding the right tempo to enhance its services.

However, I am also perturbed at the government's call for new players to come in and complement the industry. We actually failed to walk the talk.

While encouraging more local entrepreneurs to jump onto the bandwagon, we imposed a grip on the telecommunication giant, Telekom Malaysia. The government provides it with a full protection to the extent that no other players could come close to it.

TM is afraid of competitions, let alone an idea to complement its services in speeding up the internet penetration to the whole country. To TM, such a move would lead to its eventual demise. In other words, new players could maul TM!

That shouldn't be the case.

Companies like Syarikat Jalur Lebar Nasional (Jalenas) acquires the right knowledge and technology to complement TM but Rais's ministry, the MCMC and the government treat Jalenas with askance, sharing the same sentiment with TM!

To date, Jalenas is the only Bumiputra company with experts in the latest broadband technology, acquiring it from Sweden, the world's hub for broadband.

However, we are not receptive to changes. MCMC refused to recognise Jalenas and take it as a partner but to snub the company with its bullying tactics. Prime Minister Najib who launched Jalenas' first project in Kuantan in 2009 is also ignoring its plight, not understanding the paramount need for engaging the latest telecommunication technology for the country.

But I believe Najib is too busy with his routine. So, Rais has to step in and advise the PM on the issue or his ministry will have to take the blame over the sluggish work of the MCMC. Or, does Rais himself understands such needs?

We need to be more open. The government should open up the door to companies like Jalenas to joint hands with MCMC and TM in complementing such a big task in wiring up the whole nation. Even a 90 per cent penetration by the year 2020 will not reflect our fully-developed status.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is an example of how a GLC adopts an open door policy by inviting the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to complement its task in lighting up the whole country. And even with the present number of IPPs, some corners of Malaysia are still in the dark.

We would like to see an openness in managing our communication and telecommunication sectors. Not only that we must open up TM, we must also engage the right people to sit at the MCMC, the people who have the ability to monitor world's innovation and applying it, not a bunch of so-called experts who only warm their seat!

The government, on the other hand, has to employ the right minds who can work and advise the Cabinet on such matters, not a group of 'yesmen' whose role is to 'aye' everything the government decides on.

I hate comparing Malaysia with Singapore but the Republic is at world's no.4 in broadband connectivity, running a 1gbps (giga bytes per second) as compared to Malaysia's between 20-45mbps (mega bytes per second). In South Korea, its between 500 to 800mbps while in Cambodia and Vietnam, its between 50 to 200mbps.

Have you heard that some personal at the Defense Ministry (Mindef) have to fork out extra money from their own pocket to enhance internet speed at their office which stands at only between 2-15mbps?

What a shame!

Kenyataan Media: Dana Khas Pengakuan Terbuka Kerajaan Gagal Tangani Jenayah

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 09:14 PM PDT

DANA KHAS PENGAKUAN TERBUKA KERAJAAN GAGAL TANGANI JENAYAH
1) Kerajaan Persekutuan gagal menugas semula (redeploy) anggota-anggota Polis Di-Raja Malaysia – terutama dari Cawangan Khas dan Pasukan Simpanan Persekutuan (FRU) - untuk meningkatkan jumlah anggota polis yang bertugas dalam Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah terutama sebagai pegawai penyiasat;
2) Kerajaan Persekutuan dan khususnya Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan gagal mengutamakan warga kota apabila bersetuju menempatkan semula Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) seperti IPD Brickfields jauh dari pusat-pusat penduduk, yang secara langsung mahupun tidak merumitkan proses pemantauan jenayah di Brickfields sebagai contoh;
3) Kerajaan Persekutuan gagal menangani masalah jenayah secara dasar, sistemik, dan menyeluruh kerana semua sedar bahawa jenayah berkait dengan keadaan ekonomi yang lemah; malah, Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan dan Kesejahteraan Bandar cuba untuk "menghilangkan" isu "miskin bandar" dengan pengumuman penghapusan miskin tegar menerusi paras Garis Kemiskinan  lapuk (Poverty Line Index) satu ketika dahulu.
Tanggungjawab Keselamatan Diswastakan?

Gadis Dirogol Oleh "Syaitan Yang Dikenali" Di Bilik Air

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 10:30 PM PDT

Abdul Razak berkata, selepas merogol mangsa, suspek bertindak merampas gelang tangan emas milik ibu mangsa sebelum melarikan diri.

Lessons from Tomatoes!

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 07:45 PM PDT

An unemployed man goes to try for a job with Microsoft as a cleaner.

The manager there arranges for an aptitude test (Section: Floors, sweeping and cleaning).

After the test, the manager says: You will be appointed on the scale of $30 per day, let me have your e-mail address, so that I can send a form to complete and advise you where to report for work on your first day.

Taken aback, the unemployed man protests that he is neither in possession of a computer nor of an e-mail address.

To this the MS exist and can therefore hardly expect to be employed. Stunned, the man leaves.

Not knowing where to turn and only having about $10 left, he decides to buy a 10kg box of tomatoes at the supermarket.

Within less than 2 hours, he sells the tomatoes singly at 100% profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends up with almost $100 before going to sleep that night. And thus it dawns on the man that he could quite easily make a living selling tomatoes. Getting up early and earlier every day and going to bed late and later, he multiplies his hoard of profits in quite a short time.

Not too long thereafter, he acquires a cart to transport several dozen boxes of tomatoes, only to have to trade it in again shortly afterwards on a pick-up truck.

By the end of the second year, he is the owner of a fleet of pick-up trucks and manages a staff of a hundred former unemployed people, all selling tomatoes.

Considering the future of his wife and children, he decides to buy some life assurance.

Calling an insurance adviser, he picks an insurance plan to fit his new circumstances. At the end of the telephone conversation, the adviser asks him for his e-mail address in order that he might forward the documentation.

When the man replies that he has no e-mail, the adviser is stunned: "What, you don't even have e-mail?

How on earth have you managed to amass such wealth without the Internet, e-mail and e-commerce?

Just imagine where you would have been by now, if you had been connected from the very start!"

After a moment's silence, the tomato millionaire replied: "Sure! I would have been a cleaner at Microsoft!"

Morals of the story:

1: The Internet, e-mail and e-commerce do not need to rule your life.

2: If you don't have e-mail, but work hard, you can still become a millionaire.

3: Seeing that you got this story via e-mail, you're probably closer to becoming a cleaner than you are to becoming a millionaire. Just kidding!

4: If you do have a computer and e-mail, you're already being taken to the cleaners by Microsoft.

[BONGKAR] Campurtangan Najib & UMNO Di Dalam Projek OPS2020 UIAM

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 08:09 PM PDT

Sekian, wassalam.
