Why Turkey Will Never Join the EU By Andrew C. McCarthy

Why Turkey Will Never Join the EU By Andrew C. McCarthy

When Recep Tayyip Erdogan became prime minister of Turkey, it was anything but clear that he would last more than a few months. The military, the constitutional guardian of Atatürk's secular order, had killed the Islamist administration of Erdogan's mentor, Necmettin Erbakan, only a few years earlier. At the time, Erdogan was jailed for several months as a seditionist. Though he was nonetheless permitted to assume the prime minister's office in 2003 after leading his Islamist party to victory, the man who famously proclaimed "I am a servant of sharia" still aroused great suspicion. To survive and thrive, Erdogan would have to find ways to erode and nullify his Kemalist opponents. Thanks to Europe, he had cards to play.

It had long been a Kemalist dream to integrate Turkey fully into the West. The leaders of the secular order it was Erdogan's goal to supplant craved acceptance into the European Union. Ingeniously, Erdogan grasped the brute truth: Turkey would never in a million years be admitted into the EU; Europe's leaders would never tolerate it.

Of course, to say this aloud would be so déclassé, so downright Islamophobic, that the French and Germans would rather be caught sipping California wine. So rather than be forthright, they have constructed for Turkey an open-ended European-integration "process" — and is there anything transnational progressives love more than a "process"? This one is a limitless series of hoops for the Turks to jump through, at the end of which rainbow Ankara will be admitted to the club . . . probably right around the time hell freezes over or the euro becomes the world's reserve currency.

Like all Islamists, Erdogan has contempt for Europe and the West. The objective of Muslim supremacists is to dominate and Islamize them, not emulate them. Yet the prime minister is artfully resourceful enough to exploit to his advantage the Kemalist dream of European integration and Europe's responsive gamesmanship. For among the steps Turkey must theoretically climb on the ladder to Euro-worthiness are religious liberty, the separation of religion and the state, and civilian control of the military. As Erdogan saw, the EU-integration process was the surest way to cow the generals into accepting elected Islamists and to break secularist constraints on Islamic supremacism.

In their obsession over not being seen as Islamophobic, in their purblind insistence that aggressive supremacism is not the nature of mainstream Islam, European elites assume that they know Islam better than did such Muslim giants as Atatürk and his contemporary, Hassan al-Banna — the Muslim Brotherhood founder who notoriously wrote that "it is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated" and that Islam sought "to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet."

It is an unremitting fact that mainstream Middle Eastern Islam is totalitarianism packaged as "religion." To be sure, critics of Islam can go too far with this point. It is wrong to say, as some do, that Islam is not a religion. The doctrine has a number of spiritual principles — the oneness of Allah, to take a prominent example. There are, moreover, interpretations of Islam that focus only on its spiritual and mystical elements. If such interpretations were dominant, Islam would be of no more moment to us than it would if it were true, as the fiction holds, that Islam is a "religion of peace" that has been "hijacked" by "radicals."

But the fact is that Islamic supremacism is the preponderant Islam of the Middle East. Yes, it is a religion, but it aspires to be so much more: to control every aspect of life, to impose sharia's political, social, and economic strictures on civil society. Therefore, the guidelines for religions that pose no threat to free societies cannot be applied to Middle Eastern Islam without putting liberty in grave jeopardy.

Bajet "Bunga Telor" - Najib Bakal Di"Mubarakkan"

Posted: 29 Sep 2012 10:26 AM PDT

Bajet 2013, bajet 'bunga telor'

Marilah kita sama-sama berdoa agar ianya menjadi kenyataan.

Allahumma arinal haqqa haqqan, warzuqnattiba'ah,

[BONGKAR] Penipuan SPR - 64,100 Pengundi Pos Didaftar Dalam Sehari, 5 Juta Tiada Alamat

Posted: 29 Sep 2012 08:01 AM PDT

-HD

Anwar:Cubaan menipu PRU,SPR daftar 5 juta pengundi tiada alamat

Dr M asked George Soros for help in peace project!

Dr M asked for Soros' help in peace project
  • Steven Gan
  • 7:41AM Sep 26, 2012

EXCLUSIVE "I am glad that your opinion of me has changed," wrote former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a personal letter to then nemesis George Soros six years ago - 11 months before he met the billionaire financier for the first time.

In the letter, Mahathir referred to the Jan 7, 2006 interview with Soros by New Straits Times when the philanthropist visited Jakarta for an interfaith meeting, where he said he agreed with the measures the Malaysian premier had taken to deal with the regional financial crisis of 1997-98.

NONEFour days later, Mahathir wrote a three-page letter to Soros urging the much-maligned currency speculator to join him in his Global Peace Forum project, which sought to criminalise war and outlaw it as an option to settle international conflict.

"I write to invite you to lend your name to this effort to achieve the ultimate human rights - the right to life," said Mahathir in his Jan 11, 2006 letter.

Both octogenarians - Mahathir is 87, Soros, 82 - have had a bitter war of words in the wake of the Asian financial crisis, with Mahathir calling Soros a "moron" and blaming him for igniting the imbroglio, while Soros hit back by describing the Malaysian premier as a "menace to his country".

The 2006 letter, which Malaysiakini has a copy, indicates that it was Mahathir who first approached Soros with an olive branch in hand.

Apparently, Mahathir was taken by Soros' view on the war in Iraq, for which he had funded campaigns against the re-election bid by then United States president George W Bush in 2004.

"Whatever may be the differences between us, we seem to have identical views on war, i.e. on killing people in the pursuit of a national agenda," said Mahathir.

Regime change

The Global Peace Forum was initiated at an international conference in 2005 organised by Mahathir's Perdana Leadership Foundation.

"The conference yielded a resolution to make war a crime and to campaign worldwide to criminalise war - to regard it as being no different from murder," Mahathir told Soros.

"This is not going to be an overnight, one-off thing. It is going to take years, decades and maybe centuries. But the first step in this journey must be taken now. You and I may not live to see the change. But it should not deter anyone."

NONEMahathir took pains to reassure Soros that his participation in the Global Peace Forum will not affect his other philanthropist work.

"I am aware of your other concerns - about democracy, etc. But this anti-war campaign for the ultimate human right will not be in conflict with any other rights that you may espouse. So I hope you will join."

It is not known what Soros had said in his response to Mahathir, but it is likely to be a polite "no" given that he did not join the Global Peace Forum.

Mahathir met Soros in Kuala Lumpur 11 months later, where the two foes buried the hatchet.

Following the meeting, Mahathir said that he accepted that Soros was not involved in the devaluation of Malaysia's currency.

However, three days ago Mahathir dug up the hatchet and fired yet another salvo at Soros, claiming that the international financier was seeking regime change in Malaysia, following reports that some NGOs have received funding from international donors.
The enmity between Mahathir and Soros can be traced back to the early 1990s when Bank Negara Malaysia - then considered by some financial observers as a rogue central bank for dabbling heavily in high-risk currency speculation - lost RM5.7 billion to the likes of Soros.

Myanmar Muslims request to OIC and Turkey Government

Posted: 29 Sep 2012 05:41 AM PDT

In The Name Of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum WRT

Myanmar Muslims request to OIC and Turkey Government

We, Muslims from Myanmar, wish to say thank you for all the good and effective deeds done for all of us in Rakhine. Please may you all kindly allow us to humbly request from all of you:

1. To continue with the assistance of aids and political pressure for Rohingyas.

2. Kindly pressure Myanmar Government to give Equal Rights to all the Muslim citizens of Myanmar.

3. To extend the Rakhine donation and political pressure to the whole Myanmar.

(a)    Donation and charity works should be for all Myanmar citizens irrespective of race and religion. (Ref. 1)

(b)   To give financial support to the various NGOs working on Humanitarian activities.

(c)    To give financial support to the soon to be set up (Internationally backed) Human Right (Equal Rights) Education for all the citizens of Myanmar.

4. Kindly pressure Myanmar Government to made laws prohibiting:

(a)    Hate Speech on Islam (Ref. 2) especially on Muslims of Myanmar, including Rakhine Muslims.

(b)   Derogatory name calling as Kalars, Bengali-migrants, Bengali-illegal-migrants, Indians etc.

(c)    Racial Profiling on all the Muslims in Myanmar.

5. Continue to push at UNGA and UNSC for ICC on Myanmar Government and Rakhine leaders although it may not yield the immediate results as Myanmar Government is still in power and the USA and EU lead Democratic countries, China and Russia may oppose the action as they have the commercial and political interests in Myanmar. But it may act as a warning to the Myanmar authorities not to repeat anymore atrocities on its Muslim citizens.

6. Need to push the United Nations Security Council  to convene an urgent meeting to give a mandate for sending a number of peacekeeping Forces in order to protect the civilians (POC) from physical violence. WE repeatedly got the unconfirmed news that there are still repeated hostile attacks between Buddhists and Muslims in Rakhine state, both sides claiming that other side was responsible to start the aggression or assaults.  (Ref.3)

7. Regarding OIC 's intention to setup a TV Channel to Counter Islamophobia (Ref. 4), we wish to advise to open a media office in Yangon, Myanmar (may be in collaboration with Al Jazeera news) as the local reporters for Myanmar news and even for the Foreign News Agencies were proved to be unprofessional and biased in the recent Rohingya conflict. Kindly consider to recruit and train at least 50% Muslim staff as reporters, cameramen, journalists and editors.

Assalamualaikum WRTB.

Dear OIC leaders,

Please may you kindly allow me to advise the Organization of the Islamic Conference to try to change the present image of Islam by the non-Muslim world. Because of the extremists' action of violence especially on-unarmed civilians, nowadays quite a lot of non-Muslims are looking with the suspected eyes on all the Muslims.

I am not here to argue anything about Jihad. However, we all must acknowledge that some people against Islam had successfully re-branded all of us after the end of cold war. As there is no more evil group against them, weapon producers need to create a new enemy. So they re-package us, Muslims as a new enemy and successfully re-branded as Terrorists. With peace after cold war, they are going to lose every thing. With the creating of a new enemy, re-branded, Terrorist Islam, they could keep on getting profits by selling weapons to both sides.

Dear brothers, I am here to think out of the box to win back the hearts and minds of the whole word, especially non-Muslims and even including our enemies.

Former US president Bill Clinton called for the US to increase the foreign aid, suggesting it was important in fighting terrorists and "cheaper than going to war". He said, "Spending this money to be in a world with more partners and fewer terrorists and more possibility for growth and more prosperity for Americans is a very inexpensive thing to do."

Yes, Mr Clinton is absolutely right. Why should not we do the same thing to get what we want?

It is very difficult to change other people, or the whole world's perception on all the Muslims. It is a lot easier to change our selves. We need to re-brand and repackage the image of Islam by changing ourselves.

Christian Missionaries had shown us the example for centuries. Their charity work of building schools, hospitals for the poor, regardless of race and religion around the world is the good example to follow. Oil rich OIC countries should lead and other countries, Muslim organizations, NGOs and individuals should chip in. Muslims should lead all the Humanitarian aids and helps around the world.

We hope and pray that all of the Muslims would be able to realize that the greatness of a person or an organization does not lie in the power it wields, or in the armory, ammunitions, or wealth it displays but in the greatness of its heart and its good deeds. What we have is not important, not only the whole world but Almighty Allah would definitely care and record what we do with our possessions or wealth on poor and needy. We would get the rewards not only in the hereafter but in the present world, depending on our deeds but not according to our possession in the present world.

We would be most remembered not for material achievements but for the generosity, kindheartedness, donations, helping hands extended to the needs, poor etc along our life span. Someone once said, "a man never stands as tall as when he stoops to help a little child."

There is greatness in giving and we could see the shame in grabbing with greed. The never-ending grabbing person is in some kind of bondage to greediness, wanting, longing for everything, and he could not let go of anything he saw means that actually he is a virtual slave to this material world and was bankrupt spiritually.

Dear Muslim brothers, let us forgive and forget all the wrong doings of others on us. We all should stop any kind of revenge. We need to have peace with the whole world including Israel. Allah had given a lot of land and wealth to all of us. Instead of fighting we should made peace and help to resettle our Palestinians friends in our own countries. We have to accept peace with Israel even if we could not get back all we want. Once we show our good will, generosity, kindheartedness others will definitely change.

We cannot win over our enemies with revenge, hatred or terrorism. We could, Insya Allah easily win over their hearts and minds with forgiveness, generosity and loving kindness. We could easily re-brand Islam by re-packing it in our charity works.

So let us start charity work of building schools, hospitals for the poor, regardless of race and religion around the world. Muslims should lead all the Humanitarian aids and helps around the world. Let us all re-brand and re-pack Islam in a kindlier gentler and noble form.

Wasalaam

Yours Humbly

Muslims of Myanmar

Awasi Tingkah Laku & Gelagat Anak Gadis Anda!

Posted: 29 Sep 2012 05:31 AM PDT

Johor Bahru – Keseronokan melakukan seks kali pertama selepas terpengaruh dengan video lucah di Internet menyebabkan seorang gadis berusia 13 tahun sanggup meniduri tujuh lelaki, termasuk beberapa penjawat awam, sejak awal tahun ini. Gambar fail

The restaurant also serves a brand of coffee called Illy.

Had American Breakfast here some weeks ago.
Pity that only two halves of bread.
Not enough for an adult, seriously.

The indoor of the restaurant is decently clean.
Outdoor is for smokers. 8-)

Negeri "Fixed Deposit" BN Terpinggir Lagi Dalam Bajet 2013

Posted: 29 Sep 2012 03:06 AM PDT

Bajet 2013 pinggir rakyat Sabah, Sarawak

The Secret of the Korean Eunuchs

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 10:47 PM PDT

A recent analysis of records of court eunuchs in Korea suggests that castration prolongs life. The documents pertaining to eighty-one Korean eunuchs who lived between the mid-16th and mid-19th centuries showed that, on average, they lived 14 to 19 years longer than their non-castrated peers.

According to Kyung Jin Min of Inha University in Incheon, South Korea, "It provides some of the most compelling evidence yet that the male sex hormone, testosterone, reduces male lifespan."

More alarmingly, the conclusion supports the theory that testosterone-fuelled reproduction comes at a price because it increases the risk of heart disease and cancer and reduces the strength of the immune system.

Quite eeriely, Min revealed that many earlier studies show that castration prolongs the life of animals from 24 to 27 months in rats, for example.

Over HERE, BBC reports:

Castration before puberty prevents the shift from boy to man. One of the scientists involved in the study, Dr Cheol-Koo Lee from Korea University, said: "The records said that eunuchs had some women-like appearances such as no moustache hair, large breasts, big hips and thin high-pitched voice."

Eunuchs had important roles in many cultures from protecting harems to castrati superstar singing sensations. The imperial court of the Korean Chosun dynasty used eunuchs to guard the gates and manage food. They were the only men outside the royal family allowed to spend the night in the palace.

They could not have children of their own, so they adopted girls or castrated boys.

Najib Bacul! Berani Hentam Anwar & PR Tapi Pengecut Untuk Berdebat

Sama-sama kita nantikan.

Belanjawan Bingai: Hutang Negara Semakin Bengkak Menjadi RM502 Billion

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 10:18 PM PDT

MP Bagan Lim Guan Eng

" MP Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw

" MP Lembah Pantai Nurul Izzah Anwar

-selangorku

The Citizen Scientist Who Spawned a Revolution

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 05:38 PM PDT

Unbeknownst to many, books may not be in the limelight or celebrated on a grand scale such as in commemoration of wars or campaigns of any sort but in their quiet and subtle ways, have triggered social change in many parts of the world. "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine stirred racial sentiments in the pre-American revolution period whilst Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin" awakened anti-slavery feelings that was the pre-cursor to the American Civil War. Well, "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson's Silent Spring is another one of those impactful books that set the scene for the environmental movement. Known only as a natural history writer, Carson's book eventually led to the banning of DDT in the US ten years down the road.

When 'Silent Spring' was released on September 27th, 1962, it exposed the hazards of the pesticide DDT - particularly on birds. Very bravely, Rachel Carson argued that the uncontrolled and questionable use of DDT not only killed animals and birds but man as well. She also questioned how people could just simply accept the claims of the industry without studying its deadly and far-reaching effects.

Wikipedia tells us that Silent Spring has been featured in many lists of the best nonfiction books of the twentieth century. In the Modern Library List of Best 20th-Century Nonfiction it was at #5, and it was at No.78 in the conservative National Review. Most recently, Silent Spring was named one of the 25 greatest science books of all time by the editors of Discover Magazine.

Carson, a renowned nature author and a former marine biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, was uniquely equipped to create so startling and inflammatory a book. A native of rural Pennsylvania, she had grown up with an enthusiasm for nature matched only by her love of writing and poetry.

Hailing from Pennsylvania, Rachel Carson, formerly a marine biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, she loved nature, writing and poetry. Carson wrote other bestsellers such as " Under the Sea Wind", "The Sea Around Us"), and "The Edge of The Sea" glorified and poetically explained the complexity and inter-connectivity of the web of life.

I am writing about this because almost three decades ago in my first job in an environmental organization, I had to read extensively about DDT and its horrible effects hence Carson's book has always had a place in my heart. The most unforgettable chapter in this book is  "A Fable for Tomorrow" where Carson skilfully expounds on a fictitious (?) American town where all forms of life forms from marine life to the birds of the air to the four/two-legged creatures that walk this earth (including man) had been "silenced" once and for all  by the insidious and devastating effects of DDT.

According to Wikipedia

DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is an organochlorine insecticide which is a white, crystalline solid, tasteless, and almost odorless. Technical DDT has been formulated in almost every conceivable form including solutions in xylene or petroleum distillates, emulsifiable concentrates, water-wettable powders, granules, aerosols, smoke candles, and charges for vaporisers and lotions.

First synthesized in 1874, DDT's insecticidal properties were not discovered until 1939, and it was used with great success in the second half of World War II to control malaria and typhus among civilians and troops. The Swiss chemist Paul Hermann Müller was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1948 "for his discovery of the high efficiency of DDT as a contact poison against several arthropods." After the war, DDT was made available for use as an agricultural insecticide, and soon its production and use skyrocketed.

In 1962, Silent Spring by American biologist Rachel Carson was published. The book catalogued the environmental impacts of the indiscriminate spraying of DDT in the US and questioned the logic of releasing large amounts of chemicals into the environment without fully understanding their effects on ecology or human health. The book suggested that DDT and other pesticides may cause cancer and that their agricultural use was a threat to wildlife, particularly birds. Its publication was one of the signature events in the birth of the environmental movement, and resulted in a large public outcry that eventually led to DDT being banned in the US in 1972. DDT was subsequently banned for agricultural use worldwide under the Stockholm Convention, but its limited use in disease vector control continues to this day and remains controversial. Last week,The New York Times featured an excellent article by Eliza Griswold on How 'Silent Spring' Ignited the Environmental Movement where she wrote:

On June 4, 1963, less than a year after the controversial environmental classic "Silent Spring" was published, its author, Rachel Carson, testified before a Senate subcommittee on pesticides. She was 56 and dying of breast cancer. She told almost no one. She'd already survived a radical mastectomy. Her pelvis was so riddled with fractures that it was nearly impossible for her to walk to her seat at the wooden table before the Congressional panel. To hide her baldness, she wore a dark brown wig.

"Every once in a while in the history of mankind, a book has appeared which has substantially altered the course of history," Senator Ernest Gruening, a Democrat from Alaska, told Carson at the time.

"Silent Spring" was published 50 years ago this month. Though she did not set out to do so, Carson influenced the environmental movement as no one had since the 19th century's most celebrated hermit, Henry David Thoreau, wrote about Walden Pond. "Silent Spring" presents a view of nature compromised by synthetic pesticides, especially DDT. Once these pesticides entered the biosphere, Carson argued, they not only killed bugs but also made their way up the food chain to threaten bird and fish populations and could eventually sicken children. Much of the data and case studies that Carson drew from weren't new; the scientific community had known of these findings for some time, but Carson was the first to put them all together for the general public and to draw stark and far-reaching conclusions. In doing so, Carson, the citizen-scientist, spawned a revolution.  PLEASE CLICK HERE to read the rest of this fantastic article.

Please read the entry on DDT listed in Wikipedia as it explains in great detail the deadly effects of DDT.

Click here if you want to see the shocking list of the many chemicals used (including amount used)  in the Vietnam War.

Today, we remember Rachel Carson and her 'Silent Spring'. We may not be facing the devastating effects of DDT but there are other threats that we face such as GMF foods, dangerous chemicals in certain medicines and all kinds of questionable practices. May there be more brave and enlightened/informed people who can blaze the trail for a better society, better life. I salute and remember Rachel Carson - for all the passion and love she displayed in her life for the environment and the betterment of mankind. May she rest in peace always.

Anwar cabar Najib debat Belanjawan 2013

"Kalau bermotif untung seperti sekarang, tak mungkin berhasil.

Woman raped by police accused of "indecency"

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 04:51 PM PDT

Ah, the glories of the Arab Spring: "From victim to accused: Tunisian raped by police indicted for 'indecency,'" by Antoine Lambroschini for Middle East Online, September 26:
Tunisian civil society groups expressed outrage on Wednesday after a young woman was accused of indecency by two policemen jailed for raping her, amid criticism of the Islamist-led government for rolling back women's rights. The woman and her fiance were summoned by a magistrate on Wednesday to face the two policemen, both found guilty of rape and jailed, who accuse her of "indecency" and "assault," a group of Tunisian NGOs said in a statement.
The interior ministry said the woman and her boyfriend were apprehended by three policemen on September 3, when they were found in an "immoral position." Two policemen then raped her, while the third held the handcuffed fiance. The NGOs, which include the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women and the Tunisian League of Human Rights, slammed what they described as a procedure that "transforms the victim into the accused." It "is designed to frighten, and to force her and her fiance to waive their rights," they added. Read it all here in full.....

Egyptian Evangelical Church Attacked with Stones and Gas Bombs

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 04:49 PM PDT

According to Al Masry Al Youm, Kasr El-Dobara, the largest evangelical church in the Middle East, located in Egypt, was recently besieged by "unknown people" hurling "stones and gas bombs." The first gas bomb thrown at the church Thursday afternoon, September 13, was signaled as an error by police, but it was soon followed by other bomb attacks, which went into midnight and early Friday. Worshippers locked themselves inside the church and put on masks to avoid gas poisoning.

Some of those trapped inside looked for help by trying to contact politicians, journalists, and even the "moderate" Muslim Brotherhood. All the latter did was announce on TV that the attackers were not members of the Muslim Brotherhood. After the besiegers left and the trapped Christians finally came out, not a single police or security agent to counter the attacks or protect the church could be found.

"Opinion: Stop calling criticism of Islam ‘Islamophobia,’" by Jackson Doughart and Faisal Saeed al-Mutar

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 04:47 PM PDT

National Post, September 26:

The English language needs a moratorium on the word Islamophobia, a term often used to describe bigotry against Muslims. Unfortunately, it is also used reflexively to denounce critics of Islam, who contribute to a valuable and ongoing debate concerning the relationship between the West and the worldwide Islamic community. This subject is important because several Western countries, such as Denmark, Great Britain, and the Netherlands, are being forced to reconsider their approaches to immigration and culture in light of deep clashes between the Muslim immigrants and the native population. These tensions have captured much attention in recent weeks with the series of violent protests that have spread to over twenty countries, emanating from the controversial Innocence of Muslims film. Can’t Believe I’m a Mom Now

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 03:37 PM PDT

It was just like yesterday when I found out I was pregnant. In a blink of an eye, here I am, being a mommy now and Annakate turns 3 weeks old today! Unbelievable!

There is so much to learn being a new mom. Handling a newborn is no joke and the sleepless nights are definitely unavoidable. Whether a new mom decides to breastfeed or bottle feed with formula, the little one is bound to wake up once or twice throughout the night to be fed. Having said that, I chose to breastfeed because of the endless benefits reaped by my newborn and myself. Breastfed babies have stronger immune systems, better digestive systems, less illnesses, and grow up healthier than formula-fed babies. I obviously want Annakate to be healthy and strong.

13-day old Annakate

My 13-day old Annakate

A lot of people wonder why new parents have sleepless nights. A newborn's stomach is just a tiny size of a small cherry. Therefore, the baby will be giving hunger signs every 2-3 hours as milk is easily digested (especially breast milk). I have learnt from my daughter's cue of hunger signs when she opens her mouth in a big 'O' shape and shaking her face away to look for mama's boobies. And of course, crying is a late sign of hunger.

I am also learning how to teach Annakate the difference between day and night. I try not to let her sleep more than 2 hours during the day so that she will fall into a deeper sleep at nights. As she is growing 'older' each day, I realize her naps are getting shorter. Not too sure why. For the past several nights, I would change her into pajamas by 730pm and dim all the lights around the house. Then I would be nursing her one last round before the real bedtime kicks in at 8pm. She will usually sleep 3 to 4 hours before waking up for another nursing session. And of course, the nursing session will last between 20-40 minutes, and soon after, she would fall asleep again for another 2.5 – 4 hours. An early tuck-in with her do save me from complete exhaustion. I just got to be very patient now with such schedules. Sooner or later when Annakate turns 8 – 10 weeks old, she will learn to sleep longer stretches.

Day 3's Poopy

Meconium Poopy Diaper on Day 4

Changing her diapers is always an adventure as Mike and I will always wonder 'Is it just a wet diaper?' or 'Is it a big poopy diaper?'. This is simply because Annakate will cry a bloody murder each time we strip her butt naked. I wish there's something to calm her down during diaper change. I tried singing, talking, comforting, distracting her with pacifier, but nothing seems to calm her down. Hopefully she will grow out of it. She just doesn't like being naked. Period.

A newborn baby is strong for someone so tiny, but she still needs our protection to stay safe and healthy. I have to always remind myself that her neck and head are always supported. And boy, Annakate is so squirmy wormy! It is no wonder why I felt all those brutality during pregnancy.

Week 2 Check Up

Annakate at her Week 2′s Well-Baby check up

With that, I have had 2 well-baby visits with my pediatrician so far. One on her week 1, and the most recent was her week 2 check up. Dr Washington checked her from head to toe and she declared Annakate a one feisty, healthy baby! Praise God for that. Dr Washington also did a bloodwork test for Annakate on her week 1′s visit to ensure her bilirubin count continue to stay low. And yes, Annakate's risk of getting jaundice is super low. Thank God for this!

Annakate Week 2

Annakate has a strong head!

As mentioned in my previous entry, Annakate's birth weight was 8lbs 2 oz (3.685kg) and her discharge weight was 7lbs 12oz (3.515kg). Her first well-baby visit's weight was at 7lbs 12.5 oz (3.53kg). Guess what? Her most recent well-baby visit's weight recorded a stunning 8lbs 10.5 oz. (3.926kg) Whoa!! Annakate gained almost a pound in 1 week! You go, girl. Keep drinking, keep, keep drinking! And I can't wait to see how much she would weigh at her next well-baby visit in November.

Annakate 21 days old

My 3-week old darling stretching!

I can go on and on and on and on, and I know this is a whole new journey for me. Oh, I can't wait to get 100% normal again so that I can fully take care of her by myself. I am blessed to have Mike with me for the first 2 weeks and his mom stayed with us this week to help out. I will be on my own from Week 4 onwards. God, please heal me faster so that it will not hurt to take care of my precious daughter!

Motherhood rocks

Mother and Daughter

Ah, so much more to learn, too much information to gather, and feeling overwhelmed with everything so new. I know God will give me the strength to be a great mommy to Annakate. She is all worth my sweat and tears.

Motherhood rocks! ^_^
