I can recall only these few.
There may have been other instances but I shall not bother.
Please try to be careful.
One may get clobbered if unlucky.
Using the car alarm key, I thought I was entering my Wira..this was some few years back.
"Hey..when did I buy this buttoned kind of head rest..why is my car smelling with tobacco?"
Then, I realised I got into the wrong car.
I quickly dashed out and went into my car which was parked just beside it.
I had entered a bank in Kemaman. When I came out, I casually slid into the backseat of 'my car'.
Gosh..my son and his father were in the front..or was I the one in the passenger frontseat...can't remember.
Holy cow! I startled the driver and and another young chap in the car.
Our car and theirs were parked back to back and of course I opened the wrong door.
We stared at each other, I said sorry and quickly let myself out.
They were by then laughing, and so were those who were waiting in the right car..they saw the whole hilarious scene.
I had not paid my car instalments on time..so I thought a few burly looking guys were about to 'tarik' my car..I had just came out from the supermart to buy some groceries.
Running towards them and screaming I said, "Dah bayar dah bayar!"
Guess what! They were milling near their car..mine was just next to theirs..*malu2*
It was already maghrib just now..I hate to go home when the azan is already on because I do believe in all the 'you know what' flying around at that time.
I had already bought some satay, nasi lemak and mee goreng for Hnn and Harris.
Then I went to buy a bag of catfood for the stray cats at P. Selamat supermarket.
Hurriedly, I clicked my alarm but, the door was locked..I thought.."patutnya bukak!"
Again I clicked the car key alarm and tried hard to pull the door open.."kenapa ni?"
Luckily the owner was not there..otherwise I would have been wrongly accused of trying to break into someone's car..
Again, my car was just beside the 'mistaken' car.
Realising my folly, I started my engine immediately and zoomed off.
Such carelessness can happen..and I pray this is the last..hopefully.
I am sure I can be easily forgiven.. afterall I am just an innocent makcik..:)

It is a sad day today. My son's cat, Chanel, passed away today from kidney failure. He was barely one year old. I first blogged about Chanel HERE.
I confess I am scared of cats because I was badly scratched by a cat when I was about five years old. Apart from that, I am also allergic to animal dander so I never had cats. Even when rearing hamsters, I used to be down with allergies all the time until I moved the cages out of the house.
I was not particularly pro-Chanel before I met him and tried to persuade my son to give him away. I had the same reaction when I first met him last November. He seemed er....over-friendly but as time passed, I realized he was actually a cutee. Despite me screaming away whenever he jumped on my bed, I really wanted to cuddle him and play with him.
And now, I will never have that chance.
My older boy is heartbroken. So am I because I know how he feels - because in many ways, he is like me. I wept buckets when my dogs and hamsters died, even when my goldfish passed away. In my younger days, I was even insane enough to lay hands on my goldfish to pray for them :-(. My favourite dog passed away four days before I got married and my wedding photos show the sadness on my face even thought it was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.
When I spoke to my boy yesterday, I had a hunch Chanel would pass away so I reminded him to check with the vet regarding Chanel's progress this morning. Then he called me early this afternoon to break the news. I was so upset and called Cat-in-Sydney to break the news to a fellow cat-lover and she explained to me that it was probably a congenital defect from birth as cats usually develop kidney problems when they are six. Later, Jon confirmed that the vet told him the same thing.
As a mom, my heart bleeds because my son is heartbroken. Honestly, my older boy is my mirror image in character and emotions. I can feel what he feels and vice versa cos we are just so alike. I know how sad he feels now and I am crying too because I wish I could be there to comfort him.
When any of my pets died, I took it so badly that till today, regardless of how strongly I beg or lobby or petition for another pet, my husband will not let me have another pet.
And I told my son the same thing - that he cannot have another pet until he has a less hectic lifestyle.
My heart broke when I called him after dinner to ask about what happened before Chanel was hospitalised and put on the drip....whether he had enough water, food etc. and then he related how Chanel used to eat a lot and kind of went off food for a month and lost weight which was why he sent him to the vet and the rest is history....
I wish I had been kinder and more loving to Chanel when I was with him last year...This is my prayer for Chanel...
My dearest son's cat, Chanel, went to heaven today. We know he is in a better place in pet heaven with you because he does not have to suffer here on earth any more.
Can you please take care of Chanel? I know he is a frisky cat but I also know that my dearest son misses him very much. Somehow, I believe you led Chanel to Jon so that he could have someone waiting for him when he went back home from work, someone he could talk to, scold or even shower love and attention.
Thank you, God, that you let Jon have Chanel for almost a year and thank you for all the happy moments that they shared. Thank you that he learnt what it is like to have a little baby to care for as he had Chanel from the time when he was a kitten.
I am sure you know what Chanel likes to eat and how he loves to play. Please make sure the other cats in heaven do not bully him...Thank you for your love and for teaching us how to love.
Please comfort my son during this time of loss and grief. Surround him with happy memories of Chanel and when he is flooded with memories of Chanel when at home, dry his tears, dear God. Give him strength to endure the pain and the loss. :-(
Thank you for the gift of life to all of us, humans and animals alike. Please bless pet lovers and their pets with health and beautiful memories.
*This post is dedicated to the memory of Chanel and also to my beloved Jon whom I love so much. Take care, son. Mom loves you - ALWAYS.
Specially dedicated to my son Jon and pet lovers
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All of the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor and those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, after so long a time, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
A Prayer For Dog and Cat Lovers by anonymous
My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful for me. Remember that before you get me.
Give me time to understand what you want from me.
Place your trust in me. It is crucial to my well-being.
Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work and entertainment as friends. I have only you.
Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice.
Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
Please don't hit me. I can't hit back, but I can bite and scratch and I really don't want to do that.
Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right foods or I've been out in the sun too long or my heart is getting old and weak.
Take care of me when I get old. You will grow old, too. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say "I can't bear to watch," or "Let it happen in my absence".
Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember I love you!

You keep demanding that my government issues General Amnesty. Even I as President (Thein Sein) enjoys no such thing!
I am sure that my friends U Aung Tin, Dr. Maung Zarni and others want to be free as a Tumbling Kelly (Pyit Taing Htaung) but not a Puppet (Yoke Thae Yoke) with strings…But the catch point is…we (Tumbling Kellys) are seem to be on the ground at the lower position but Puppets are seen high up, flying in the sky, because the strings pulled them up. I hope and pray that Daw is is not metamorphosing from a Pyit Taing Htaung to a Yoke Thae Yoke PRINCESS.
The puppets (or) marionettes of princes, princesses, clowns, orge, and horses are most common in Myanmar. Usually colored red or golden colour with a white smiling face. I never liked to be pulled up like the Puppets. I hate to see the any powerful authorities' trying to convolute even the nonvisible strings of me, Pyit Taing Htaung. I am always willing to talk back my superiors if they are wrong. I am not a very good obedient person. In Burmese,"Ah Htet Phar-Auk Phi" type of person. I don;t want to show off or give orders to my comrades and subordinates. I will work with them or I work the dirty, difficult and dangerous jobs infront of them so that they willingly participate that TASK to help me.

-KD

The middle-aged church volunteer from a small town in Scotland became an instant global celebrity in 2009 with her heart-stopping rendition of the "Les Miserables" number "I Dreamed a Dream" on a TV talent show.
A week is a long time in showbiz -- and in our hyper-speed online age three and a half years is an eternity -- but Boyle is still going strong. She has sold millions of records, received an honorary doctorate, sung for Pope Benedict XVI and performed in Las Vegas. A stage musical about her life has played to enthusiastic crowds across Britain and is headed for Australia, and next month she releases her fourth album, "Standing Ovation."
But the 51-year-old singer who entered the TV talent contest to make her late mother proud is remarkably unchanged. She's still a bit frumpy, though she's acquired a new hairdo, more expensive clothes and a makeover. She still lives in her down-at-heel home town, has outbursts of anger and struggles to overcome her nerves before live performances.
It's a fairy tale, yes, but with dark shadows lurking in the corners.
"People can't accept that you can dream a dream, but part of the dream is also a nightmare," said Elaine C. Smith, a Scottish actress who knows Boyle and plays her in the biographical stage show "I Dreamed a Dream."
"Fairy dust comes out, but shrapnel comes out as well."
Boyle now has a car and chauffeur to take her to appointments, but she sticks close to familiar places and routines. She has bought a new house, a modern four-bedroom two-story in Blackburn that cost 300,000 pounds ($480,000), but locals say she often stays in the modest row house she grew up in.
And she still shows up occasionally to sing karaoke at The Crown pub.
"She belts them out like she used to and is not averse to a duet," said 20-year-old local Helen Cameron. "It's nice that this has not changed her. I think she's under a lot of pressure normally. Here she can be herself."
As well as having the support of her community, Boyle is well protected by her manager, Andy Stephens, and a close circle of friends and family - a factor that helps act as a "psychological vaccine" against the pressures of sudden fame, according to Cary Cooper, professor of psychology and health at Lancaster University.
"If you don't have the proper social support system to protect you, your celebrity status can cause you enormous stress," said Cooper, who has studied the relationship between celebrity and stress. "She is still rooted in her friends and people who know her. Most celebrities aren't."
Boyle's life changed in a few minutes when her first appearance on "Britain's Got Talent" was broadcast in April 2009. The soaring voice emerging from the dowdy, frizzy-haired figure; the audience titters turning to gasps; the shocked faces of Simon Cowell and the other judges - it was artfully staged television, but also a moment of genuine emotion.
"We judged her. Anybody who says they didn't is telling lies," Smith said. "She walked on and opened her mouth, and within minutes everybody watching was in tears."
The Internet clip went around the world, and keeps on going. On YouTube alone it has been viewed more than 106 million times.
Boyle's first album, "I Dreamed a Dream," topped both the U.K. and U.S. charts. So did her second, "The Gift."
Although Boyle's covers of pop classics and musical theater standards rarely make critics swoon, her three albums collectively have sold more than 14 million copies.
This month she's sung on "Dancing With the Stars" in the U.S. and performed in Las Vegas with Donny Osmond, a childhood idol.

It is clear and simple that both Suaram and Malaysiakini have done nothing wrong in uncovering and reporting on all the critical information surrounding the Scorpene submarine deal, potentially among the top corruption scandal cases in the history of Malaysia. What can be so wrong for an NGO and an independent media to expose political trickeries and economic mismanagement of a government? On this, I must salute Suaram secretariat members Cynthia Gabriel (left in photo) and Fadiah Nadwa Fikri (centre in photo) for their flawless and passionate pursuit of the case, and the Malaysiakini team for their faithful coverage of the news. In doing so, they are just like any decent Malaysians who desire a homeland that is just, fair, transparent and caring.
Their biggest 'transgression' is, however, the fact that it involves the current prime minister, backed by a coalition that makes no excuses for its ambition to be government for life. Ever since the farcical Sodomy I scripted and directed by Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his cohorts back in 1998, Malaysia has become a byword for corruption, judicial injustice and political intolerance.
This terribly unfavourable image has remained even long after Mahathir stepped down, because those who came after him have failed miserably to reform the state. Instead of redressing the damage left by Mahathir, they have only accentuated it. Worse, we even allowed a man who is so tainted with corruption and implicated in a murder case to assume the highest office in the country!
It is by now abundantly clear that Najib Abdul Razak is not the reformist that many of the mainstream media pundits made him out to be. His ridiculous remarks that Malaysia needs no women's rights movement and that the country has become a more vibrant democracy on his watch are only contradicted by the lack of women's leadership in both the public and private sectors, unless he means his wife Rosmah Mansor (above), the self-styled First Lady and the condos-for-happy-cows Sharizat Abdul Jalil, whose Ministry of Women he has taken over. Not on equal footing. Najib has also turned a blind eye to the demonisation of both Suaram and Malaysiakini by his mouthpieces such as Utusan Malaysia and The Star. If foreign funding is really such a sinful thing to do in Malaysia, I would challenge all the government bodies and government-linked NGOs to open their accounts for the whole nation to scrutinise. Now that Umno is caught with the RM40million funding controversy, all that the government can do is to dispatch a minion by the name of Abdul Rahman Dahlan (left) to pen a paltry argument as a counter-attack.
What Umno and the Barisan Nasional as a whole have conveniently forgotten is that the people are acutely mindful of the fact that the ruling coalition and the opposition pact do not compete on an equal footing, and this a home truth that continues to fly in the face of Najib even if he wants to repeat his self-aggrandising claim to make Malaysia "the best democracy". Throughout Malaysia's electoral history, the BN has done everything to ensure that the race would not be too close for comfort. As of today, the opposition has no access to the mainstream media, and their public rallies are often harassed and even aborted due to thuggery.
Anyone, practically anyone, who dares to stand up against the big bully would only end up asking for trouble, ranging from being barred from leaving the country (as has happened to several Bersih committee members) to merciless judicial persecution (as Suaram is now facing). Stigmatisation and even demonisation using the issues of race and religion is only part and parcel of the price to pay for demanding greater democracy.
BN spending like there is no tomorrow Meanwhile, the government would resort to the national coffer in dishing out goodies and subsidies especially in the rural areas in exchange for votes. Day in day out, the rakyat are told to be grateful and contented, while the powers-that-be indulge themselves in posh cars and impressive condos. If any of their younglings gets on the wrong side of the law, such as Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz's son (right), the government is to the rescue, while a poor imam who flung a shoe at a judge in protest of the flawed judicial process was sent to jail.
The wasteful manner in which the ruling coalition is handling public monies, clearly indicated in the Auditor-General's Report recently, only confirms that the government has been spending as there is no tomorrow for them, which is most probably true. Given the massive discontent and the ceaseless scandals, I would not be surprised the days for the BN are numbered. Ending this irresponsible and authoritarian regime is now the only way to save the country.
BN politicians should therefore be wise to halt their indiscriminate attack against those who are seen to be against them because, who knows, one day that they may find themselves in need of Suaram and Malaysiakini, too, and that day may not be too far in the future. Malaysiakini
JOSH HONG studied politics at London Metropolitan University and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. A keen watcher of domestic and international politics, he longs for a day when Malaysians will learn and master the art of self-mockery, and enjoy life to the full in spite of politicians.

COMMENT As the MCA general assembly (AGM) drew to a close at its national headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today, what was supposed to be a triumphant concerto, seemed to play discordant notes instead.
At least, to this observer of Malaysian politics, in place of an uplifting confident symphony, the sounds of violent thrashing and ear-splitting keening fills the air. As if a monster, mortally wounded, is about to die. And we all know, attested by countless Ultraman episodes and Godzilla movies, monsters in their death throes will thrash about violently, and let out a loud death knell, before dying.
The gyrations of the soon-to-expire creatures, oft translating into a whole lot of damage, as it tries to either claw its way out of its appointment with death via some lifeline, or avenge itself and injure the one that have dealt it the mortal blow. Observing what came out of the Chinese party's AGM, I wonder if the same thing that happened to dying monsters is happening to the BN component party. The gathering started on a sharp note, as banners adorning the venue, and T-shirts issued to delegates, portray statements that claw at the opposition Pakatan Rakyat.
Singling out Pakatan components, the MCA printed matter stuck daggers into PAS for its "hudud policy", PKR for their economics that "will bankrupt the nation" and the DAP for "inciting hatred" as well as sleeping with the Islamic party which is its "ideological" nemesis.
'BN-blue theme an offering to Najib?'
Similar stinging statements were printed on BN-themed blue T-shirts handed out as part of a new look for the party delegates to wear, in place of their once white uniforms. The BN-blue T-shirts are an offering perhaps, to Prime Minister Mohd Najib Abdul Razak who came a-calling. A huge banner reading "MCA can deliver" was also installed in San Choon Hall where the AGM was held, facing the podium where Najib gave his opening speech.
The statement appeared next to a large 1Malaysia logo, while delegates also held up "I love PM" placards. This may have worked its magic for in his speech, Najib thanked the Chinese party for standing by Umno and promised that the Malay party will also stand by MCA, though he said that they can stand "with" and "by" him, but not "behind" him, in a poorly-hidden attempt at taking a swipe at the sodomy-accusations which plagued opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
But if one were to think that Najib's sodomy-inspired humour were crass, one certainly had not observed the goings on at the MCA AGM closely enough. Something more off colour and off kilter shot out of MCA Wanita vice-chairperson Heng Seai Kie's (right, in photo) mouth as she accused PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat of urging Muslim men to rape non-Muslim women.
What more, her claims were defended by no less then MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek (above) himself. Chua, who once resigned all his party post after admitting to being the person in a sex video allegedly shot by an MCA snoop team before re-taking the presidency, also defended his claim that PAS-imposed hudud is backward and will spell doom for 1.2 million workers in the tourism, F&B, entertainment, hospitality and gambling sectors. Chua also reasoned that the stabs against Pakatan is MCA's way of being on a war footing to face the coming polls.
Such paraphernalia and thrashing about setting the tone of Pakatan-bashing and BN-kissing that took centre stage all throughout the two-day event. No counter-arguments to opposition policy ideas One has to wonder if MCA is hitting out with no holds barred at Pakatan that had savaged them in the 2008 political tsunami, and looking to Umno for a rescue, perchance? While MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai (right) had claimed that the Chinese party is not resorting to attacking Pakatan out of a dearth of policy ideas, we have to wonder why the party came out bristling with long-knifed attacks, and not counter arguments to the policy ideas of the opposition.
It is as if, while Pakatan is trying to deal with policy issue in order to prepare for becoming the next federal government, MCA is sharpening its claws and daggers in order to prepare to become an opposition party. After all, like other BN component parties, they have already experienced it at the state level in the Pakatan-ruled states. Liow, however, insists that the party will make a comeback despite "doubts" about its future being raised by certain quarters.
His confidence was shared by MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong (left) who told party members that if they act like superheroes in the Marvel-comics inspired Hollywood blockbuster Avengers, the party will persevere. What the MCA will be in the coming years will be determined in the ballot boxes of the upcoming 13th general election, as the voters will determine whether the Chinese party will be a superhero, or a monster's corpse. If this year's AGM is any indication, one would feel that the vote will most likely be for the latter. Malaysiakini

After having to pay so much more than consumers in other countries for so many years to buy a car, the majority would say, "Yes! We want cheaper cars!" I remember in the early 1980s when my brother bought his first car — a Mazda 323, which only cost about RM17,000. The other options

An unfortunate event happened to us last week, and Azman lost his Macbook. Sighh… The machine doesn't matter but what I weep for the most is Rafa's photo collection since birth. Sedih kan? Gone also all the pics from Raya and his Akikah. So I went back to my Facebook and kutip-kutip mana-mana gambar I have uploaded before and publish here for future remembrance.
The night before we drove back to Penang, we stop by at IKEA to buy the jars, then the next day we went to Mydin in Bukit Jambul, Penang for the sweets and that flowery, beady decorative thing we superglued on top.
Above – The marhaban ladies doing their thang… most of the guests were outside having lunch. Rafa slept like baby he is.
Below – Pakcik-pakcik yang baca doa selamat tadi tengah nak makan..
Below – We had nasi beriyani yang sangat sedap. Siapa nak contact caterer please ask my Mum! hehe. Lauk-pauk was ayam goreng berempah, dalca, the akikah goat was turned into masak kurma, perut kambing with kuah asam and hati/limpa etc masak lada hitam thingy. Sedap… orang kata lah… I tak sempat jamah dah habis… Ada jugak sambal ikan bilis and jelatah.Pastu ada laksa Penang and lots of kuih muih and tapai pulut…
Below- My and my beloved Aunt, we call her Cik Pura.
Below is me posing before the guests arrived. Gedik kan? Haha standard la baru lepas pantang nak tunjuk pinggang yang tak berapa ada. huhu
Above – Mikael, Rafa el and Sarah Khadeeja, my niece.
Diyanazman kalau tak tangkap gambar sengal memang tak sah! Hahahah..
I love the above pic the most. It doesn't matter if we lost computers and gold chains and diamond rings. Ya Allah just don't take away my family from me. Keep us close, healthy and happy. I can never live without Azman, Miki and Rafa. Amin.

Source: Extracted some conversations on the FB of my friend, Surgeon Dr Saw Aung.
Ko Ko Gyi Essence of Teaching Higher Education (@University) was said to know where to search (which books/publications in library etc)…But with the Google search facility in Smart Phones…while drs discuss the options for treatment during consultations, pts googled and argue ….But Surgeons are in a better position or in the upper hand…But pts would ask for more advanced technology beyond the normal surgeons..
If googled…the results would be few hundred thousands pages for each search….Drs have an advantage of knowing which to read and accept/apply.

Ko Ko Gyi Yes I have Zawgyi font. TQ… And may you allow me to add…One lost screw is only worth RM 1.00. But the knowledge to know that there is a loose screw or lost screw, where to get the specific screw and knowhow to fix it may worth RM 99.00….But we R not getting that kind of consultation fees yet! But for the Surgeons like my brother Dr Saw Aung could earn more for the know-how….But in real life those KNOW-WHO could earn more than know-how professionals.

social mores, I believe the siren is wailing to tell us that the signs of dysfunctional and deviant values have reared its ugly heads in the real world, our country and the Asian region. Worse still, the mass media and online portals have jumped on the bandwagon in the glorification, amplification and magnification of the scenario that directly challenges cultural, religious, moral, legal values/guidelines.
The setting for my rant is the disclosure of the sexual antics of a young Malaysian couple and their nonchalant stand about their behaviour, values and motives because I believe every person must be responsible in his/her actions because everything one says or does (especially in virtual reality) will eventually influence/affect his/her immediate circle being family and friends and the community in which he/she lives.
First of all, I wish to say that I am not judging anyone here but I am very concerned about the way the whole situation has been blown out of proportion. Most importantly, I am very appalled at how the MSM delights in reporting what the couple says about the situation because ultimately, such airing may affect the values, perceptions and perspectives of wider society (especially the youth) in an IT-savvy society. Of course we all know that any story on sexual deviance sells. However, to splash a photograph's of the girl's face on the front page knowing full well that she may be kicked out of the home if conditions are not met is certainly a possible indication at how corporate social responsibility may be at stake in the pursuit of readership!!!
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. CSR is a process with the aim to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere who may also be considered as stakeholders. MORE HERE.
A sensible and educated person should also uphold social responsibility in his/her life to recognize that personal behavior affects others and that one should ultimately be accountable to others, especially the family and the law, or actions/words said.
It is understandable that one who is not refined or educated may demonstrate inconsiderate/rude behavior and then to displace his/her responsibility to others by blaming the external environment for pushing them to such acts of deviance.
Any sensible person with a right mind would try to affect others positively to make the world (or at least the community in which he/she lives) a better place.
The actors of the social scene are no ordinary persons but two young adults who have gone through tertiary education - an ASEAN scholar who has yet to graduate from the law faculty and the other who graduated from a local public university.
Consider the immeasurable trail of damage left behind by their disclosures - the cumulative effects of their behavior/public statements on:
a) their parents
b) their immediate family members and relatives
c) their other agents of socialization who would be wondering where they went wrong with them - e.g. teachers, religious leaders, community leaders, neighbours etc.
Did they show any consideration for their loved ones and friends?
Did they show any concern and/or awareness of how what they did/said impacted others and affected the social ambiance and reputation of the young adults of our country from those who are not Malaysians?
Tragically, I doubt they even realize the effect of what they did and said realistically lasts much longer than the acts portrayed in their postings/interviews.
Their perspectives centres on 'I' and 'We'.
Did they consider or care about the impression that others have on them both on a short-term or long-term basis on their:
a) familial and social relationships - How would their parents, siblings, relatives and friends care and relate to them knowing that they not share their frame of reference in this issue?
Do they care that they have actually hurt themselves when they hurt their loved ones?
b) social standing - How can they appear anywhere publicly in full knowledge that many might have seen their intimate physical details?
c) career path - What would be in the minds of would-be employers who might be questioning their value systems? Worse still, there could be those who might take advantage of them e.g. in the endorsement of certain types of toys or demanding certain favours etc.
b) business opportunities - What would potential business associates think of them, their value system and integrity or morality etc?
Consider this analogy. If one throws rubbish indiscriminately anywhere and anytime, one pollutes the community in which one lives and ultimately, boomerangs back to the irresponsible one.
Honestly, I believe we all have but one life and it is up to us whether we make it count or only make it count for OURSELVES.
Imagine what kind of society we would have if everyone did not uphold socially acceptable values, customs, expectations etc and only concentrated on making money regardless of the means.
Then, narcissistic beings or a narcissistic society would NOT care because they do not realize:
The way the media has gone to town with this issue is sickening. What is their real motive? Can it be perceived as glorification, amplification and magnification of deviance?
Is such sexual deviance newsworthy? Where is their corporate social responsibility? What sort of genuine news values are present in the situation that merited such airing by so many types of media? In this way, they are indirectly telling them and others that such deviant acts are acceptable because it can bring you fame, name and that it is all part of the game of life! :-(
Are they endorsing what they did? Social responsibility can never be cultivated by promoting anything that directly goes against our value, legal and moral system such as lewd and lascivious content. Yes, I know it is a scene where the two individuals were exercising their personal choices in their acts but making them public and then to be elevated for public scrutiny via air space or articles in the MSM is sending another message to the wider society, particularly the younger set.
In an age where one can:
surely the media can play its role by sending a more responsible message to society and be a CSR citizen!
Think about the following scandals:
a) how the local and foreign media reported it
b) how the guilty ones reacted when interviewed:
Did they CELEBRATE their acts?
Were they smiling from ear to ear?
Did they express remorse for what they did?
Did they say that others are 'sexually repressed'?
My bone of contention is not what they do privately but publicly and also how the situation was reported.
Compare it with reports on the Savile Scandal HERE. The family was so ashamed that they even removed Savile's tombstone and his is now an unmarked grave. That is the DEPTH of the remorse, sadness and despair felt by the family members as a result of Savile's actions.
Compare it with reports on the local issue HERE, particularly by the MSM.
I am sure many cannot fathom the rationale, justification or reactions the couple has displayed nor can many comprehend why they can still be smiling when filmed or photographed in the post-exposure period. Neither can I.
There are many theories for deviance including:
I. Rational choice theory including:
Whatever the case, I am quite sure that it is highly probable that there could be a myriad of reasons why they did what they did and that those who know them cannot understand the motives either. May they have closure on this issue and move on to a better life instead of capitalizing on this scenario for mercenary purposes.
One of the first topics I learnt as an undergraduate in journalism class was news values. Consider the following points by Wikipedia which I have posted at the end of this post. I just hope that the media can seriously consider their corporate social responsibility role in such situations and report such incidents in such a way that it deters rather than encourages such forms of behaviour.
All in all, we can clearly see the pervasive influence of the internet on not only the way we communicate but also on our value system. What sort of society do we have when some are proud of deviance and others glorify it? Where are we heading? Is society regressing? Not sure? Check out THIS LINK and another one HERE and HERE. Make your own conclusions and if possible, please share your views. Thanks.
News Values - from Wikipedia
News values, sometimes called news criteria, determine how much prominence a news story is given by a media outlet, and the attention it is given by the audience. A. Boyd states that: "News journalism has a broadly agreed set of values, often referred to as 'newsworthiness'..."News values are not universal and can vary widely between different cultures. In Western practice, decisions on the selection and prioritization of news are made by editors on the basis of their experience and intuition, although analysis by J. Galtung and M. Ruge showed that several factors are consistently applied across a range of news organizations.

Indra Putra Mahayuddin menjadi wira pasukan Kelantan apabila menjaringkan gol kemenangan sekali gus memastikan Piala Malaysia menjadi milik The Red Warriors setelah hampa pada tahun lepas.
Kelantan, juara Piala Malaysia 2010, tiga kali mendahului ATM sebelum wisel penamat masa tambahan.
Susulan serangan pasukan Kelantan, ATM melakukan serangan balas.
Kelantan mula menemui rentak permainan apabila terus melakukan serangan diketuai Kaptennya, Mohd Badhri Radzi.
Begitupun, serangan menerusi Indra Putra dan Afiq terus gagal membolosi gawang lawan apabila berjaya didakap oleh Farizal Harun.
Keghairahan Kelantan dalam memburu gol pertama akhirnya tertunai apabila rembatan kencang NorShahrul Idlan Talaha berjaya menewaskan Farizal Harun pada minit ke-43.
Bersambung babak kedua, tidak sempat Kelantan mengatur rentak permainan, ATM terlebih dahulu menjaringkan gol penyamaan menerusi Rezal Zambery Yahya iaitu minit ke-48.
-SH
Berikut kedudukan jaringan:
ATM (2) mln Kelantan (3)
Rezal Zambery Yahya minit ke-48
Marlon Alex James minit ke-61
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha minit ke-43 dan minit ke-49
Indra Putra minit ke-95

Recently, Eureka featured an article written by Chuck Harrison who has over 30 years of cancer drug discovery and development experience in preclinical and translational settings. The article Magic Bullets: The Next Evolution in Targeted Cancer Therapy The article discussed how new 'armed antibodies' represent proverbial magic bullets–envisioned by a Nobel Laureate 100 years ago can kill tumors with greater efficacy and fewer side effects.
Excerpt from the article:
Whether the idea came in a dream, whether it arrived as a classical "aha" moment in a dusty lab, or at a patient's bedside while scribbling notes, the search for Ehrlich's Magic Bullet took a huge leap when someone asked, "Why not antibodies?"
Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system. In the body, they bind with high specificity to antigens, receptors on the surface of foreign invaders, such as viruses and bacteria. Fitting like a lock in a key, such binding enables immune cells to "see" and attack invaders. And because Nature has innumerable invaders, the human body has many antibodies–10 million to be exact.
Scientists had their missile.
In 1975, Georges Kohler and Cesar Milstein created the first laboratory-produced antibodies, called monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). A year later, on Thanksgiving Day, a doctor named Ron Levy ran a groundbreaking experiment, inspiring him to run through the halls of his lab with joy. He'd created monoclonal antibodies that specifically recognized cancer cells.
In 1979, immunologist and cancer researcher Lee Nadler teamed up with Phil Stashenko, another immunologist, and created a monoclonal antibody targeted to antigens on non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cells. Their drug failed. When given to a man with advanced lymphoma, the mAb bound to few tumor cells. And the patient's immune system rejected the drug, due to the fact it was created from mouse cells.
To avoid rejection, scientists from IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation used recombinant technology to create a part human, part mouse antibody called a chimera. In clinical studies, their "humanized" drug, Rituxamab, cut tumor sizes in half. And when combined with other chemotherapies, it cured 79% of patients. The drug's approval in 1997 led to the development of similar antibody-based therapies, some of which worked by killing cells directly (e.g. Rituxamab), others which slowed or stopped tumor growth by interfering with surface receptors on cancer cells, or some which better enabled the immune system to fight the disease.
