Social-media companies Facebook Inc. FB -0.14% and Twitter Inc. are trying to turn political advertising into a big business, courting presidential candidates, political-action committees and interest groups to siphon off some of the billions of dollars spent on election ads.
Over the past year, the companies have met with hundreds of political groups to tutor them on effective social-media ad strategies. They've also staffed up to work with political campaigns to tailor ads to specific voters and snag ad dollars.
"We want to spend every waking moment talking to political advertisers about how they can use Twitter to win," said Peter Greenberger, Twitter's head of political advertising sales and the executive who established Google Inc.'s GOOG +0.05% political-advertising arm in 2007.
When Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney picked running mate Paul Ryan in August, Democratic opposition-research group American Bridge 21st Century wanted to bring attention to its new website, MeetPaulRyan.com. That's when Twitter came into the picture.

Padan muka UMNO! -dollahyankee

One of my favourite "fairy stories" is ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell. This is one of the educating books with a hidden message .This ANIMAL FARM somehow had a special place in my heart as a classics/satire reflecting our country. I have attempted the merging of the Animal Farm story into the Burma/Myanmar scene. I hope some one will be able to write the full adaptation of this animal firm in Burmese Language later.
TQ Yemin Nyinyi for this picture
George Orwell (Eric Blair) was an Englishman born in Bengal and after graduated at Eton, England, he worked in Burma for five years with the British Imperial Colonial Police. He disliked social injustices and opposed both Capatilism and Communism. He passed away in 1984. He also wrote "Burmese Days".
Long long time ago there was a farm called Burma that had all types of animals living in it. Their animal instinct was so strong that even today when you stay in that farm called Myanmar you will find some of them still behave like bloody animals. As they say, you can take the animal out of the farm but you can never take the farm attitude out of the animal.
The farm owner, who was popularly known as 'The Empire' was cruel to the animals. 'The Empire' treated all the animals very unfairly.
'The Empire' knew that they are not the original owner of the farm but had taken it by force. So they used many tactics to hold on the power. To ensure that the animals do not unite, 'The Empire' practiced a concept called 'divide and rule'.
He told the animals called Bamas that they are the original animals on the farm and all other animals are interlopers (Kalas and Uncivilized Hill Tribes in local animal terminology). 'The Empire' then brought in other types of animals from India and China for cheap labour. And while he put all the Bamas in one enclosure, he put the new animals in separate enclosures to ensure the animals do not mix and start becoming too friendly.
'The Empire' was actually very successful in his divide and rule strategy. 'The Empire' thought it would be a good idea if they started to teach some human tricks such as the alphabet and arithmetic and set up a college in Rangoon. They intended to produce a new breed of educated animals to work as Senior Civil Servants for them. Even if not, at least it would keep the animals occupied. And it was quaint seeing those animals dressed up like 'The Empire' and sitting in rows repeating after 'The Empire', 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'I', '2′, '3′.
But what 'The Empire' did not realise is, the Burmese started to become too smart for their own good. Some of the cleverer animals thought that it is not that difficult running a farm. Even we could do this, they said. So, one day, these cleverer animals gathered all the animals for a secret meeting and plotted how to drive 'The Empire' out so that the animals could take over the farm and run it themselves.
'The Empire' treats us animals as second class beings, said the cleverer Burmese. Whenever any animal refuses to listen or protests, it is locked up and separated from the other animals, said the cleverer Burmese. 'The Empire' is enjoying all the profits while we animals do all the work on the farm, said the cleverer Burmese. We animals came here first and should be the owners of this farm while 'The Empire', who just came here recently, takes over as if he owns this farm, said the cleverer animals. 'The Empire' is corrupt, said the cleverer Burmese. 'The Empire' does not practice equality, said the cleverer Burmese. If we animals take over this farm all animals will be treated equal, said the cleverer animals. All the animals became very excited at hearing this and they gleefully agreed to the idea. So they started to plot as to how to get rid of 'The Empire'.
In fact, later on, some of the Burmese with great vision got smarter than even 'The Empire' and some of the Burmese introduced a new idea to all the animals. The clever vision or concept of not accepting that the 'The Empire' were not the Masters and Burmese Animals are not the slaves. And they start calling themselves "The Master/Sir" in local Burmese dialect. These Master or Thakin group then started to revolt 'The Empire' with the help of Wild Pigmy animals, the desendents of the "Rising Sun" from the east. But those Easterners became too Cockey and showed all the cruel animal instints. So all the animals repelled those cruel animal masters with the help of the old masters 'The Empire'.
At the end all the animals from Burma Farm were united and they all prepared to revolt again and 'The Empire' understood that they were weak after the 2nd. Animal World War and have no choise but to give back the Farm to the original owners. 'The Empire' abandoned the farm so quickly he did not even have time to pack his things and he left everything behind for the animals to take over.
Now the animals own the farm and the 'The Empire' no longer rules over them. But not all animals are clever. Some animals just follow the herd like normal animals do, while some animals are manipulative and use other animals for their own gain. So the cleverer animals got together and plotted on how they could now become just like 'The Empire' and get the other animals to work for them while they just rest and enjoy the fruits of these animals' labour.
The best leader all the animals loved, Good White Elephant King (called Saddan Sin Min) was assinated by a big Galon bird even before he was officially crowned. The plot was said to be incited by the deputy of the Sin Min, White Big Boar Master, Shoe Maung. Later while the different animals start quarrelling each group about their own territories. Some tigers start to urinate some of the tree trunks to mark their own territories. Foxes and wolves also follow the same restrictions to mark their own territories.
So the Burma Farm's Democratic Authority was forcefully taken over by White Wild Boar Master Shoe Maung with his cohort pigs declaring that they are saving the Burma Farm from disintegration into many small pieces. He was very clever smart and declared a vision for all the animals. "Our Animal's Belief" and "Burmese Animal's Way of Socialism"
"Burmese Animal's Way of Socialism"was actually a very clever idea. All the animal must work hard and they would get same profit. Rich animal's shops, factories, properties were "animal-nationalized" and put into his Boar-pigs' Army pocket. All the animal banks, animal training sc hools, animal movie cinamas etc are taken over the Wild Boar's pig association of army. Because of the cruel Big Animal Socialist Association's mismanagement the whole farm became power, no enough food, no leasures, no luxuries, and there were sporadic spread of animal diseases all the animals revolt and dethrown the Big Wild Boar.
The daughter of the revered Saddan Sin Min, fighting Peacock princess was chosen to lead the animal kingdom. But the other Boars and Pigs Army who used to enjoy all the previliges took over the farm again. They renamed themselves SLORC/SPDC Boar Generals' Animal mili tary government. And they put the famous princess peacock into animal jail and later confiment in her own cage.
Whenever any animal wanted to embark on an enterprise, it would have to offer a 30% interest to the animal association known as SLORC/SPDC Boar Generals' wives and another 20% to one of the local Pig Association. If any animal was to protest this, it would be locked away under their Animal Laws that they announce or update every week.
Anyway, in the meantime, the SPDC Boar Pig group, who by now had learnt all British, Japanese, communist dirty tactics tried to learn further from a very famous Middle east desert country's POISINOUS BEES' Intelligent tricks by sending Burmese Animal agents disguised as going to learn to breed bees. Now after learning all the Inteligent Agencies tricks around the animal world, SPDC BOARS had now become quite clever, know how to enjoy even the fruits of the animals rebels' black market trades and knowledge of collecting protecting or gate fees and to squeeze profit from animal popy growers and drugtrafficers. The the animals were doing all the work while SPDC Generals were getting rich and fat. While the corrupted Military cronies wine and dine the nation's wealth away all the animals of the farm are almost starving to death.
Some of the animals who voised that they were not happy with this were locked up under Panel Code Fish ( Fish in Burmese also means five) by the cleverer animals from Boars pigs army, just like the old master 'The Empire' did before. But all the animals now learnt that The old master 'The Empire' were gentlemen and humane and present SLORC goons are cruel animals and treated the animal prisoners very badly. Especially Political animal prisoners were well treated by 'The Empire' but the present SPDC goons treated the political animal prisoners worse than the criminal animals. Soon the protest died down as the animals were very terrified of being locked up. You see, animals like wide open spaces where they are free to roam. They don't like being locked up. The very thought of being locked up cows the animals into submission and silence. And as you know, cows always follow the herd. This is called herd mentality.
Now the animals realised that the cleverer animals were now worse than 'The Empire'. Some of the older animals that still remembered the days when 'The Empire' was running the farm actually longed for those good old days again. But it was too late. 'The Empire' or their cousin Americans were now gone and would never return. And anyone who plotted with 'The Empire' or USA would be regarded as a traitor and would be slaughtered and his meat sold to the market.
In the Burma/Myanmar version of Animal Farm, Ne Win and Than Shwe would be equivalent to one of the prize Berskhire Boars mentioned in George Orwell's version. The Myanmar Military and Kyant Pyut as the pigs with the ruling clique in SPDC Junta being the Berkshire boars; the non-army people are all the other animals such as the horses, goats, chickens, geese, etc. NLD U Tin Oo corresponds to Snowball who was kicked out of Army just like Snowball was kicked out of Animal Farm. General Aung San may be honoured as Saddan Sin Min or His Royal Highness White Elephant. His daughter Daw Aung San Su Kyi would be a "Fearless Fighting Peacock Princess".
Junta ass-licking journalists from mainstream newspapers represents Squealer, the pig in Animal Farm which always spin stories to convince the other animals that what the pigs do is always right….And of course the Military IntelligenceI, BSI, and the police are the dogs of Myanmar Junta let loose to terrorise all the o ther animals into submission..
Finally in Animal Farm ruled by successive Myanmar Animal Army leaders: ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS….
Because of the history lessons learnt from the British-empire's successfull implementation of the 'Divide' and 'Rule' concept, even after more than 58 years of independent Myanmar Military is still copying that GAME PLAN OF DIVIDE AND RULE.
There are greedy animals which joined Myanmar Animal Socialist Party, Animal Kyant Phut, Animal Maternity Child Welfare Associations to get power, to get protection and to be rich. Look, if you were the friends and relatives of the Animal Military or the above Animal Associations, you could get land , given petrol permits, permits to buy various goods, contracts e.t.c.
All are equal, but some are more equal than others. Many animals are descriminated depend on their skin colour, the corner of the Animal Firm they are born, their race, religion. Some animal groups are descriminated because they are not the original species but their great great grandfathers had migrated to the Myanmar/Burma from neighbouring farms long time ago. They even could not get the basic animal rights as the residence of Myanmar Animal Firm.
All the Animals migrated out the Burma/Myanmar now know that once an animal is accepted as the adoptive member in any new firm, they were accorded all the same basic animal rights as the original animals, at least on paper.
Today, a handful of the cleverer animals are now running the farm while the others do all the work on the farm. The cleverer animals are given a special name so that you could recognise them from the normal animals. They are called Myanmar Animal Army and ex-Army animals. and many are Ministers, Directors, Managers supervisors e.t.c. above all the animals.. All the working animals are called Civilian MyanmarAnimals. And the Myanmar Animal Army own all the wealth and monopolized all the permits and contracts of the farm.
Today, we can see the very rich Army Generals that got fat on the toil and sweat of the ordinary working Myanmar animals. Animal Junta Generals are used to have the overdose of power and wealth that intoxicates and corrupts their animal soul. The Chief Boars used to get Rabies or some times Mad Cow's disease and became megalomaniac.
First Chief Boar Chief Master Shoe Maungg tried to marry into old ex-Royal Burmese family but failed. Second Boar Chief got Mad Cow's disease and claimed that he was Kyansittha. Present Chief Boar is claiming to be the desendent of the last Burmese King Thi Paw but as a desendent he could not get the full two syllables of the last King's name but the last one "PAW" only, which means in local Burmese Animal language to be crazy.
The Chief Big Boar's one crony pig became filthy rich that he imported two civilian version of the American Animal Army Jeeps, he used one and give one to his unofficial brother-in-law who happens to be Big Boar Chief's son. That big crony even bought and give two helicopters to the Animal Army Government. Actually that was just a peanut for him when he got the monopoly to supply all the Animal Military supplies for Burma Animal Farm Army from Russia Animal Farm Army.
But the ordinary animals even have to giveup the balanced diet of Protein for a long time and some even could not even have regular rice to eat but have to buy the bottled rice water for their meal.
But all the other animals dare not do anything about this because those animals dare to question or demonstrate are repeatedly mass slaughtered and already sold out their meat. Some of the animals are now suffering long term confinements in animal jails. So the rest are all struggling with their miserable lives earning just to survive. The wheels of the economy are slowing down, earning power is less and cost of living is sky high but continues to rise daily so much that a lot of animals legally and illegally moved out of the farm to other farms. Some working and many illegally in other farms around the world.
In 1967 The Boars slaughtered a lot of Pandas who originated from the Nothern Sina Farm just with some minor excuse of showing support to the Nothern Dragon King.
And that Boars repeatedly sacrifice many Camels and destroyed their Bedoin Tents just to divert the attention of the discontented animals who are angry with the Boars. And according to the divide and rule policy they learned from their old masters, they repeatedly created numerous problems among the different animal groups. Because most of the animals are reluctant to fight with their friend s or sa me species, the Boars smear charcoal on the face of the animals so that they could not recognize each other.
So during the White Monkey Calander of 8888 the animals revolted and got some progress. Many animals inside and outside were wishing for the another revolt in the year of 9999 according to the same White Monkey Calander, but it was fizzled out.
Now some animals including me are hoping for a final assault on 666 date which is comming soon. Most of the animals wish to avoid blood shed among the animals and are hoping for the Wild Boars and Pigs for repentance in time because the whole world's animal political pressure. The pressure comes from neighbours Animal Soliditary group called Animal Slaughter Ending Animal Nations or asean, United States of Animals and Uninated Nations (of animals).
If the SPDC Boar Junta failed to give way for the coalation Government led by the Fighting Peacock Princess, Burma Farm's animals anger combined with the whole world animals pressure would annihilate all the Boars Generals. And it may not be a happy ending for the Boars Generals but anyway all the different animals of Burma Farm would happily live ever after that revolution.

Imagine that the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem – the traditional site of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus – has been taken over by Cromwellian Puritans. The new owners of the shrine plan to send bulldozers in, replacing the old church with a monstrous building resembling a concrete spaceship. This is so pilgrims can pray without being distracted by "superstitious" icons. Also, the Old City will be buried under hotels that make Vegas look like Venice.
It wouldn't happen, would it? Christians would fight to the death to preserve Jerusalem. So would Jews and Muslims. And, for once, they'd have the support of secular politicians and scholars, horrified by the prospect of an act of cultural vandalism unprecedented in modern times. Unprecedented until now, that is. The long-cherished ambition of Saudi Arabia's ruling Wahhabi sect to smash up the ancient buildings of Mecca and Medina is nearing fruition.
In Mecca, the house of one of Mohammed's wives has been demolished to make space for public lavatories. His birthplace may disappear, too, as part of King Abdullah's scheme to complement the skyscrapers and shopping malls with a Grand Mosque fashioned from the same materials as a multi-storey car park in Wolverhampton.
As for Islam's second holiest place, the city of Medina, a recent article by Jerome Taylor in the Independent revealed a megalomaniac plan to pull down three 7th-century mosques. Taylor added: "Ten years ago, a mosque which belonged to the Prophet's grandson was dynamited. Pictures of the demolition that were secretly taken and smuggled out of the kingdom showed the religious police celebrating."
Only a small minority of the world's billion Muslims are Wahhabis, despite the tens of billions of petrodollars spent by the Saudis propagating their creed. (Bosnia, for example, is now littered with Saudi-style mosques, replacing the graceful Ottoman architecture that Wahhabis detest.) Many pilgrims to Mecca are revolted by the marriage of Puritanism and greed they find there. Yet protests are scattered and muted. Why? One answer is that the House of Saud, though widely hated, is also feared: its wealth and terrorist connections make it unlikely that, say, a Pakistani politician would speak openly about the desecration of the Hajj.
The West can hardly complain about such gutlessness: this year's Hajj exhibition at the British Museum was creepily sanitised – no mention of bulldozers or the 2,000ft clock tower built right next to the Kaaba, the black cube-shaped building that is the centrepiece of Islamic devotions. But what sticks in the craw is the hypocrisy of Muslims who throw a fit if Israeli archaeologists carry out non-intrusive work underneath the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, "Islam's third holiest place", as we're constantly reminded. Such anger would be more convincing if the first and second holy sites weren't being ploughed up by a police state. Likewise, are cartoons of Mohammed really more offensive than reducing the remains of his life to rubble?
As one Middle East expert put it to me: "Jews disturbing the Dome of the Rock fits into an anti-Western narrative, so Muslims can cope with that. The Saudi destruction of Mecca doesn't fit into that narrative, and so there's virtual silence." Something worth bearing in mind, perhaps, when you wonder why the murder of Muslims by Muslims in Darfur or Syria provokes only limited outrage in the Islamic world. The Telegraph

Rakhines R doing this in Arakan.
But why U Thein Sein is allowing the Radical Monks to do this through the country?
And Daw Suu is pretending to see nothing.
Rakhine and Radical Monks are trying to burn down the whole Myanmarso that they could do Ethnic Cleansing and set up a Bama Buddhist Nationalist Country.

Saya ucapkan terima kasih di atas pertanyaan lanjutan yang diterima setelah saya menghadiri satu forum bertajuk "Islamic State: Which version?

Transcript: Why Nazri is not worried
He said that if a certain opposition figure (name withheld due to legal reasons) is not worried about a leaked video purportedly depicting himself having a tryst with a foreign sex worker, then there is no reason why he should be.
Reporters had questioned Mohd Nazri at his office after the allegation on the Hummer was exposed by PKR leaders at the Parliament lobby today.
The full transcript follows:
Nazri: He (Rafizi Ramli) got no locus standi.
Reporters: (Batu MP) Tian Chua and (Ampang MP) Zuraida (Kamaruddin) were there also.
Then bring him to Parliament lah.
We can show the stuff that they (PKR) have done.
I saw. If it is an offence... Ask Tian Chua to ask me... If it is an offence report to the police... If I have done any offence, report me to the MACC.
Basically they just said it is a conflict of interest.
Who asked the questions?
All three of them (Zuraida, Tian Chua and Rafizi).
No, no, in Parliament, who asked the question?
First time was Tian Chua (who raised the issue) in question-and-answer session.
Then who is the minister in-charge of... so, who give me the question?
They are saying if your son has links with Michael Chia, then you should not have stood up and defend them...
No, no, no. I'm the minister. I've got no personal interest. When he asked that question, I didn't even know what question was coming. It was (the) committee-level debate.
There was also (a) written answer if I'm not mistaken.
That (question was answered) under my name, of course, and what conflict of interest do I have? I don't have any conflict of interest.
And I have no control of the MACC. I can't tell the MACC to drop cases. They are independent.
So because I have no power to do that, how can I be bribed? I cannot do something which they want me to do.
And in Parliament, you must understand, answers come from the MACC, not from me. I don't even know that... when they asked about Michael Chia, the answer came from the MACC, I don't even know that Michael Chia was not arrested, but the answer came from the MACC. I don't know anything.
What about the claim that you were talking on behalf of (Hong Kong's) Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), saying that the ICAC has cleared them of the charges?
That's the answer from the MACC. You see, our system, you know what, first of all, I don't even know the questions that were going to be asked because it was not planned, it was committee-level debate.
When I was answering, they stood up and asked me. So I'm the minister, I have to answer. The answer all came from the MACC.
Okay, all things aside, whether or not the car is registered under Michael Chia's name...
I don't know. It is between my son and Michael Chia... Anyway, if my son drives a car of Michael Chia, what has that got to do with me? What has that got to do with me? He is not a kid below 21 years old, he is an adult.
They are saying that Dato Seri Shahrizat has claimed the same thing and now it has caused her...
Yeah, that's what they are trying to do... but what have I done? I don't know.
But the thing is, you see, even though you can say that it is not your fault, nothing to do with you and all that, but when it comes out in media, you know how the public would view this kind of... it doesn't sound nice...
It doesn't bother me a bit. (laughs)
Like Shahrizat's case, she said: "I don't know anything about my husband… "
That's husband and wife. I don't sleep with my son. I'm not gay (reporters laugh). My son is not my wife, my son is not my lover, I don't sleep with him.
What he does, he doesn't tell me. It is different from husband and wife, okay? Why are you so worried?
Not to say worried; I'm just saying that it does not sound nice in public, then the public... and people will start talking.
Let it be, let it be. You press Wikipedia, 'Nazri Aziz', what come out? All sorts of things. I'm still a minister, my friend, okay? It is not going to hurt me one bit. I'm not affected by gutter politics.
Do you know Michael Chia?
I know him also. You see, there must be this difference, okay. If I'm a High Court judge, and Michael Chia appears before me and my son drives his car, then I'm in trouble.
I'm not a judge in Michael Chia's case. I'm not even the investigator. The MACC is (the investigator) in Michael Chia's case. I'm a minister replying in Parliament.
They claimed that the ICAC has not cleared (Michael Chia), and the ICAC closed the case because they didn't get any cooperation from Malaysia, from the MACC.
No, no, it was a donation... This one, you don't ask me. You must ask the Attorney-General's Chambers, you must ask the MACC.
You know I'm not their spokesperson. I only replied what they gave me. They are independent body, I got no control over the MACC, I got no control over the AG. So how can I be influencing them?
I can't and all those replies in Parliament, you know, are answers given by the MACC, not my personal answers.
You must understand the system. The AG and the chief commissioner of the MACC, they cannot appear in Parliament, they have got no locus standi.
You are the spokesperson?
With their consent. All my answers, anything about the MACC and AG's Chambers, all from them like people who get angry with me (when) I said secular state. That's AG.
People get angry with me because I say Pati (illegal migrants) in Sabah is not a threat. That is security council punya jawab (answer). Kalau PM jawab, PM kena marah. I'm okay, I have no problem. It's part and parcel of my job.
As de facto law minister, although just reading out answer from different agencies, do you see yourself influential because your reply carries weight... ?
I'm a very influential person. I'm a very influential man. There's no doubt about it, very important too.
I'm not scared at all, I did nothing wrong. Those replies came from Parliament. I was merely doing my job, discharging my duties and responsibility.
So you won't consider suing Rafizi then?
What for? Let him be a trumpet blower. Anyway, I don't really want to answer him because he's not an MP.
I think if Tian Chua was there only to let him (Rafizi) make a statement at (the) parliament (lobby), because he's not a member of Parliament, he cannot make a statement here, he's just a wannabe. Make sure you're an MP first, then come to talk to me.
Anyway, even in the Parliament, (during) debates... Ketua Pembangkang (Opposition Leader), that's my level. But of course, MPs ask me, they ask. But this guy, no way.
If one day, he enters Parliament as an MP, he'll bash you.
Suruh dia masuk parliament dulu la. (Tell me him to enter Parliament first). I don't want to stoop low and deal with him, okay?
But since you all come and ask, I just say lah. It's not even a mosquito bite. I'm sorry. If you all come here thinking I'll be upset, far from it.
But do you know about the Hummer?
That's between my son and Michael Chia. I know Michael Chia.
So you confirm Hummer really exists...
I (If he wants to give a Hummer, or a Ferrari, that's Michael Chia's business. He's not giving it to me). I'm the minister, not my son, okay?
So you confirm that the Hummer really exists.
Buat apa nak confirm. Gambar dah ada. You pergi tanya anak I. (Why should I confirm it? The pictures are there. You go ask my son.)
As I've said, I don't sleep with my son, okay? I'm not gay and I'm not incestuous.
Do you see a problem (with the fact) that your son (drives) Michael Chia's car?
Why is it a problem? It's between him and Michael. Go and find Michael lah. Go and find Michael.
Is there a problem?
You can ask him lah if there's a problem. I don't drive the car. Mine is WVJ 6. Everyday I come here, WVJ 6. Wealth, victory and justice. Some people say 'wisdom', I don't want (wisdom).
You prefer wealth to wisdom?
I prefer wealth. That's why I'm rich. I can afford a lot of things but certainly it's not NFC's (National Feedlot Corporation's) money.
I know you don't care about gutter politics and that this is not even a mosquito bite to you. But do you think this issue would harm BN in the election?
Why harm BN? Why BN? What about (an opposition figure's) picture screwing (a) Chinese prostitute and all that? That one don't harm... is what is happening to me worse than that? Huh? Is it worse ah? Is it worse?
If (the opposition figure) is not worried, why should I be worried about this? Your picture all over town, in the cyber world, f***ing this prostitute from China. He's not worried, why should I worry about this. You can quote me on this.
You ask me if I'm worried, on whether it will harm BN. What I'm saying is that this picture of (the opposition figure) screwing this Chinese prostitute going all over the cyberworld, he's not worried. My question is: should I be worried?
(Question inaudible, muffled by other reporters' chatter) The way you answer ...
I don't care. Why are you so worried?
I need to confirm again, you know (of) the Hummer?
No need, the pictures are there. You go ask my son. I cannot be responsible for my son. I don't screw him, I don't sleep with him. He sleeps with his wife, he's got a kid. So whatever he does, I don't know. I know Michael Chia, I'm not worried.
If the allegations really exist?
Go report police lah. Why do you (hold) a PC (press conference)? Right or not? You know anything about me, why you make PC? Publicity seeker lah, cheap publicity. Go report police lah, MACC.
If your son is really guilty...
Guilty of what?
If he really committed...
Committed what? Do you know what you are talking about? Committed what? Kiss a girl?
Conflict of interest?
Conflict of interest? But he is not a minister.
But he is related to you.
He's my son. I have no power over MACC. I have no power on AG's Chambers. How can I? And all those questions, answers, came from MACC. How can I be compromised? I cannot be compromised.
It's not my answer, it's the answer of SPRM. You must understand that. It's not my answer, all these answers are from MACC. If I said Michael Chia was not arrested, that was the answer from MACC, not me. I'm not the investigator, I didn't investigate.
If AG said, if I answer in Parliament that ICAC has already closed the case, that is the answer from AG's Chambers. Not my answer.
I see your point.
So don't worry, I'll still be around.
But you're not going to stand in elections, right?
What has this got to do with ... aiyo ... It's not connected, the question.
That's why when you see me, when someone asks (me a question in Parliament), I stand up and the I look around, because I'm waiting for the answer from the officers. It's not my answer.
Are you concerned that your son and his family are being followed?
I'm a rich man, I'm powerful, good looking. (reporters giggle) Wealthy. So what can I do? My son ask, 'Pa, is it...' I say, 'Look, you are my son.'
Will you lodge a police on your son being followed?
Why should I? It doesn't bother me. I'm popular, I have a film star punya status here you know? Celebrity. Bukan film star local, Hollywood punya (laughs).
No, but there is nothing I can do, (if) they want to follow.
And if Rafizi lodges a report with MACC?
What kind of question it that? He wants to report, he report lah. You know, he's a clarinet player, he told me in his tweet.
In Malay College (Kuala Kangsar), when he (enrolled), I was not around, but those who play the clarinet are jambu, you know. Ni jambu punya style la.

The following reading, which describes the conquest of Malacca by Afonso d'Albuquerque in August 1511, is taken from Tom'e Pires' Suma Oriental, translated by Armando Cortesao [Hakluyt Society, London, 1944, 11, 278-81.]
Afonso de Albuquerque, Captain-Major and Governor of the Indies, arrived at Malacca at the beginning of the month of July in the year 1511, with fifteen sail, great and small, in which came about sixteen hundred fighting men*. At this time it is said that Malacca had a hundred thousand men-at arms, from Kuala Lingi (Coala Penagy)to the hinterland (?) and Kasang (Cacam), which are the limits of the city of Malacca.
And the Malays had many strong palisades, and on the sea were many lancharas and paroas in the river, and on the sea many junks and Gujarat ships which were ready to fight; because there was then in Malacca a captain from Gujarat who was working for war, as it seemed to him that he alone could cope with our ships and men, all the more because of the immense number of natives, though the natives did not back the king of Malacca; because in trading-lands, where the people are of different nations, these cannot love their king as do natives without admixture of other nations. This is genrally the case; and therefore the king was disliked, though his mandarins fought, and whenever they could.
*Albuquerque himself writting in 1513: 'We were in all seven hundred white men and three hundred Malabars......' Continued here.......

The previous was extracted from the best and most accurate of the contemporary Portuguese accounts of Malacca, and it may be usefully be compared, therefore, with the following Malay account of the same event in Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals) which was composed much about the same time. [Translated by C.C.Brown, JMBRAS, xxv, 2-3, 1952, 167-9.]
Here now is a story of Fongso d' Albuquerque. At the end of his term of office as viceroy he proceeded to Pertugal and presenting himself before the Raja of Pertugal asked for an armada. The Raja of Pertugal gave him four carracks and five long galleys. He then returned from Pertugal and fitted out a fleet at Goa, consisiting of three carracks, eight galeasses, four long galleys and fifteen foysts. There were thus forty (sic) craft in all.
With this fleet he sailed for Malaka. And when he reached Malaka, there was great excitement and word was brought to Sultan Ahmad, "The Franks are come to attack us! They have seven carracks, eight galeasses, ten long galleys, fifteen sloops and five foysts." Thereupon Sultan Ahmad had all his forces assembled and he ordered them to make ready their equipment. And the Franks engaged the men of Malaka in battle, and they fired their canon from the ships so that the canon balls came like rain. And the noise of the canon was as the noise of thunder in the heavens and the flashes of fire of their guns were like flashes of lightning in the sky: and the noise of their matchlocks was like that of ground-nuts popping in the frying pan. So heavy was the gun-fire that the men of Malaka could no longer maintain their position on the shore. The Franks then bore down upon the bridge with their galleys and foysts. Thereupon Sultan Ahmad came forth mounted on his elephant Jituji.
The Sri Awadana was on the elephant's head, and to balance him on the packsaddle Sultan Ahmad took [with] him Makhdum Sadar Jahan because he was studying the doctrine of the Unity of God with him. On the elephant's croup was Tun 'Ali Hati.
And the king went forth on to the bridge and stood there amid a hail of bullets. But Makhdum Sadar Jahan clasping the pannier with both hands cried out to Sultan Ahmad Shah "Sultan, this is no place to study the Unity of God, let us go home!" Sultan Ahmad smiled and returned to the palace. And the Franks shouted from their ships, "Take warning, you men of Malaka, to-morrow we land!" And the men of Malaka answered, "Very well!"
Sultan Ahmad Shah then sent out men to assemble all his forces and bid them get ready their arms. That night the war-chiefs and the young nobles were waiting in the hall of audience, and the young nobles said," Why do we sit here idly? It would be well for us to read a tale of war that we may profit from it." And Tun Muhammad Unta said, "That is very true, sir. Let us ask the Raja to give us the Story of Muhammad Hanafiah." Then the young nobles said to Tun Aria, "Go, sir, take this message to the Ruler, that all of us crave from him the Story of Muhammad Hanafiah, in the hope that we may obtain profit from it, for the Franks are attacking tomorrow.
Tun Aria accordingly went into the palace and presented himself before Sultan Ahmad, to whom he addressed the young nobles' request. And Sultan Ahmad gave him the Story of Hamzah saying, "We would give you the Story of Muhammad Hanafiah did we not fear that the bravery of the gentlemen of our court falls short of the bravery of Muhammad Hanafiah! But it may be that their barvery is such as was the bravery of Hamzah and that is why we give you the Story of Hamzah." Continued here....

-selangorku

SITTWE – Crammed into squalid camps, thousands of people who fled communal violence in Myanmar face a deepening humanitarian crisis with critical shortages of food, water and medicine, aid workers say. More than 100,000 people have been displaced since June in two major spasms of violence in western Rakhine State, where renewed clashes last month between Rakhine Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims uprooted about 30,000 people. Dozens were killed on both sides and thousands of homes were torched. Even in the camps near the state capital Sittwe housing ethnic Rakhine Buddhists – who have freedom of movement and are able to work if they can find employment – people are going hungry.
"We don't have enough to eat," said Phyu Ma Thein, 33. "The abbot gave us a bowl of rice but we have no pots, no plates. We have nothing. We're just trying to survive."
The situation is likely to deteriorate, the UN Refugee Agency warned this week, as a new influx of refugees pushes the camps "beyond capacity in terms of space, shelter and basic supplies such as food and water".
"Food prices in the area have doubled and there are not enough doctors to treat the sick and wounded," it added. Most of the displaced are Rohingya, described by the UN as among the world's most persecuted minorities. Seen by the government and many Burmese as illegal immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh, Myanmar's 800,000 stateless Rohingya have long faced severe discrimination, according to rights groups.
Their displacement camps are at crisis point, according to Refugees International (RI) which estimates that even before last month's flare-up nearly a quarter of children in the squalid facilities were malnourished.
"Conditions in these camps are as bad if not worse than ones in Eastern Congo or Sudan," Melanie Teff, a researcher with the charity who visited Sittwe in September, told AFP from London. "Child malnutrition rates are startlingly high. There's an urgent need for clean water and food. If further aid does not come through there will be some unnecessary deaths," she said.
With tens of thousands of Rohingya in outlying villages struggling to make a living since security collapsed after June's unrest, Teff fears official camps could be overwhelmed by a new wave of refugees over the coming months. Myanmar, which is opening up after decades of secretive junta rule, has said it has to accept aid from Muslim countries or face an international backlash. That concession by President Thein Sein last month came despite a series of angry protests by Myanmar Buddhists against efforts by a world Islamic body to help Muslims affected by the violence in Rakhine.
But the flow of aid is still sluggish to the tinderbox province.
In Baw Du Pha relief camp, where several thousand Rohingya refugees from Sittwe live cheek-by-jowl, surviving on rations and severly short of medical care, a mother-of-four told AFP Friday of her family's desperation. "I cannot give my baby rice when she needs it. We are suffering," said Laila, 20. "When my daughter gets sick we have no money for medicine." Compounding the immediate need for essentials such as rice, water and oil, aid workers say refugees are facing a mounting psychological toll with terrified children bearing the brunt. "They lost their houses in the fires. Children cannot be left alone like before. So they're depressed," said Moe Thadar, a local Red Cross worker. With tensions still at boiling point despite beefed-up security, the relief effort is in jeopardy and the outlook for peace is grim unless the two communities can somehow reconcile, according to Teff. "As it stands there is a total lack of hope for the Rohingya. They have been rejected by many countries. They have suffered all around," she said. "The only way out is for the international community to act on the current situation." The UNHCR said the recent bloodshed spurred several thousand Rohingya to take to rickety boats this week in the hope of finding shelter at camps on the coast near the outskirts of Sittwe or escaping the country altogether.
But tragedy awaits even in flight, as around 130 people went missing after one boat sank off the coast near Bangladesh's border with Myanmar while carrying Rohingya refugees heading for Malaysia.
Dozens of other boats were repelled by nervous Myanmar security forces near Sittwe, leaving them with no choice but to dock on the barren shoreline, according to an AFP reporter who visited the scene this week. "Humans need shelter, a place to sleep and eat," said Myint Oo, a displaced Muslim who has lost his house and fishing business. "If you cannot eat and sleep, it's worse than dying."

The political transformation in Myanmar this past year or more has so far seemed to be one of history's more remarkable revolutions. It has seemed, indeed, to be a revolution without losers.
The army, which brutalized the country for half a century, remains influential and unpunished. Political prisoners have been freed by the hundreds. The opposition and its heroine, Aung San Suu Kyi, have successfully entered mainstream politics. What had seemed a purely ornamental parliament is showing it has a function. Foreign countries that had shunned the dictatorship, hemming it in with sanctions, now can exploit Myanmar's untapped market and its treasure-house of natural resources.
One group, however, has lost, and lost terribly.
Around a million members of the mostly Muslim Rohingya minority remain in Myanmar's impoverished western state of Rakhine. They are survivors of relentless rounds of persecution that have created a diaspora around the world that is perhaps twice as big.
As this article went to press, more than 100 boat people, mostly Rohingyas, were missing in the Bay of Bengal. They were fleeing hideous peril at home in Myanmar. Members of the ethnic-Rakhine majority, who are mostly Buddhist, have seen the greater liberties the country now enjoys as freedom to resume persecution.
Members of both ethnic groups are guilty of abuses in the violence that flared in June and again in October. Its main contours are clear, however: a vicious and bloody campaign of ethnic cleansing by the Rakhines that is intended to drive out the Rohingyas. Rakhine politicians say frankly the only alternative to mass deportation is a Burmese form of apartheid, in which more Rohingyas are corralled into squalid, semi-permanent internal-refugee camps.
Most Rohingyas have lived in Myanmar for generations, at least since British colonial days. Rakhines and other Burmese citizens see them all as fairly recent illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, however.
Dozens have died, thousands of homes have been destroyed and tens of thousands of people have been displaced. This must stop, not simply because it is a cruel injustice but also because it threatens reforms and even the future of Myanmar itself.
The violence offers an excuse to those hard-liners who always have equated democracy with anarchy, fearing that, without the army's firm hand, Myanmar's borderlands, all inhabited by disgruntled ethnic minorities, would descend into bloodletting.
In fact, for once the army really does need to be firmer — firmer in stopping violence, detaining perpetrators and helping Rohingyas survive the unofficial commercial boycott that is leaving many hungry and thirsty. Parliament and the government, for their part, need to revise the Citizenship Act of 1982, which has been used as a tool to render most Rohingyas stateless.
Rohingyas with a good claim to citizenship should have it, and their claims should be examined generously: It is not easy to prove your lineage when everything you had has been reduced to ashes.
Citizenship is not enough, however. Leaders need to speak out in the Rohingyas' defence. The one person in Myanmar with genuine moral authority, Suu Kyi, has confined herself to calling for respect for the rule of law. While reasonable in itself, it is not enough.
Elsewhere, Bangladesh must accommodate fleeing Rohingyas. The West has tended to regard the Rohingyas' plight as a peripheral problem that should not deflect it from lifting sanctions and engaging with the new Myanmar, but it should make clear ethnic cleansing on this scale is central to its concerns.
The test of a fledgling democracy is not solely how it cares for its majority, but how it protects its minorities.

Back in 1981, while kicking around a bottle cap with my schoolmates, I fell flat on my face and caused a hairline fracture on one of my front tooth. My gums swelled and got infected. The dentist made in incision to drain the pus and recommended root canal treatment for both front tooth. The colour of the tooth with the hairline fracture turned progressively darker over the years. One night, about eight years after that accident, it broke off totally.
The dentist at the Lam Wah Ee Hospital suggested a dental crown instead of dentures as my other teeth were in good condition. She charged a very nominal amount for the post, crown and materials only. The crown served me well. I had no problem eating with it and could enjoy corn on the cob and even chewing on sugar canes.

God bless our Navy, as they a being led by a 'Dick', they do really need it - edit. If public opinion was a battle the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) had to fight, the two Scorpene submarines would be sitting at the bottom of the sea by now, submerged for good.
Adding to the submarines' infamy, the RM3.4 billion procurement according to the RMN, was a move to prevent a repeat of the '1511 episode' when the Portuguese invaded Malacca. RMN chief Laksamana Abdul Aziz Jaafar said he was confident of the capability of the two French-made submarines in protecting Malaysia's sovereignty. (Does not that guy's face remind you of Bung Mokhtar?-edit)
Here's a collection of posts in social media reacting to the statement:
John Ng Mc: It took the government 501 years after the Portuguese attack on Malacca to buy the two submarines. That must be the biggest joke of all time, what would our government think of next? We are already an international laughing stock with many a policy, this time around other countries will laugh their eyes to tears. We really have leaders with childish brains, giving childish answers.
Kai Fan: Who the hell would want to attack Malacca today? There's nothing in Malacca worth invading, except chicken rice balls.
Steven Lee: The Straits of Malacca is narrow and shallow, and submarines are useless in these conditions. American submarines had to remain surfaced when traversing the Straits. This is also the reason that Malaysian submarines are based on the east coast and East Malaysia. Assuming that someone wants to invade the west coast by sea, the submarines can't do anything to stop the invasion. This admiral is really talking nonsense and an idiot to think that people will believe him.
OneJohn Smith: Kidding, right? No one is fighting/invading over spice routes anymore.
D-man Wong: Better buy some motorcycles too as the Japanese will come down by bicycle.
John Goh Hong Leong: Might as well say buy now and wait for a time machine (to be invented), then send them back to 1511 and destroy the Portuguese armada before they attack Malacca.
Aarif Iman Abdullah: Which idiot came up with that? Come on! That was some 500 years ago.
Tan Shiaw Uen: Seriously? Who else except the Americans will start a war? And if America attacks us, do you think that with the two subs that couldn't submerge (are going to) protect the poor port?
Lee Choong Sing: If we have people of this calibre and mentality helming RMN, we (will) lose the war before it even starts.
Ruben Ruben: Our military is rated one of the best in the world because of our guerilla warfare style. The battle of Mogadishu saw our elite special forces saving the American helicopter pilots as depicted in 'Black Hawk Down', thought the movie did not really portray our armed forces. Why bring politics into the picture? It's embarrassing. Those hardcore soldiers don't need to be mixed in this soup. No sane general would actually use 1511 as a reason (for the submarines).
Benjamin Woo: I was laughing to myself when reading this. Hello! If we are going to be invaded again, it'll take more than two little submarines to stop them, and it won't take three days as well.
Soo Ching Pin: We know the real reason was to prevent the poverty of certain parties in the submarine deal.
Fadzly AG: The foreign army only needs to send intercontinental ballistic missiles to attack us. Those subs are useless indeed.
Raymond Soosai: Two subs can't even detect Indonesians crossing over to Malaysia daily, and we want to worry about invasion already.
Ng Jiunn Jye: In my memory of Malacca's history, we lost because Sultan Mahmud Shah was busy dreaming to win the heart of Puteri Gunung Ledang. Lack of leadership. Just like what we have today.
Patrick Khoo: The subs arrived 500 years too late. Malaysia boleh?
Yong Leng Kee: In 21st century, any invader will likely attack from air, and in less than 24 hours, the game will be over. What is the use of the subs?
Ng Shu Feng: That shows our Navy's quality - instead of planning the future, we try to avoid the past. Malaysiakini

-SH

Ketua Polis Daerah Gombak, Superitendan Rosly Hassan berkata, siasatan awal bomba mendapat kondisi tanah berada di tahap kritikal dibimbangi berlaku pergerakan tanah sekiranya hujan berterusan.
Seorang penduduk ditemui, Aida Ninggal, 50, berkata, ketika kejadian dia bersama suami keluar membeli kelengkapan dapur.
-SH
