My CNY 2013

My CNY 2013

My CNY 2013

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 08:31 AM PST

As a result of my accident, it has been a challenging time to battle pain and to recover. I did not do much this CNY except to rest and rest. Day 1 of CNY saw my family at The China House in Penang where my son performed with his friend.

The only home I visited so far is Marcel's place. Marcel and I have been friends since 1978 and we worked together in a musical in 1987. Currently, he and his wife Elizabeth and son Asher reside in Auckland. Apart from eating the yummy stuff prepared by Elizabeth and Marcel's mom, we had a musical evening together....Marcel also composes and has released his own album...

You can watch another clip AT THIS LINK or over HERE.

Today, a group of former students visited me...something they always do each Chinese New Year since 1998 (with the exception of 2012 when I was away). Here's what I served....

I had a tough time preparing lunch as I woke up late...as a result of my medication and kept reheating/defrosting till my microwave oven was fused...and kabooooooom...

We had a great time and I am so proud of them. Each of them has carved a niche in their career and have beautiful kids. For fifteen years, we will take a pic here in my sitting room before we say adios...

Even my dog, Tiger, had a great time with them...and by the time everyone left, he was completely knackered.

So that's my simple Chinese New Year. I did not go out as I am still on painkillers and other medication. Am not able to drive yet...Life is so short....Carpe diem!

Resipi Saya Untuk BN Menang Lebih Dari 2/3.

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 06:47 AM PST

Kawasan2 yang mempunyai ramai pengundi Melayu..BN seharusnya letak orang Melayu sebagai calon..jangan letak bangsa lain.
Seterusnya untuk bangsa2 lain..Chinese area letak calon Cina and Indian area letak Indian candidate.

Masing2 hendak mengundi bangsa mereka sendiri..bukan ertinya rasis tetapi pengundi tidak suka nampak macam orang bodoh..kawasan Melayu tetapi letak calon bangsa lain..bengang lah jugak.

Banyak sangat dah kita orang Melayu selalu beralah.
Komponen bangsa bukan Melayu dalam BN mestilah berkorban kerusi kalau nak BN menang besar.

p.s.

Wanita Ini Berjaya Islamkan 7 Profesor Barat Hanya Dengan Jilbab

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 11:22 AM PST

Tak lain kerana Ummu Abdul Aziz atas izin Allah!

Tujuh orang professor wanita menyatakan keislaman mereka.

Amiin

How the Malaysian mainstream media spins

Posted: 11 Feb 2013 06:59 PM PST

Anyone reading only the mainstream media in Malaysia would think that the Prime Minister got a rapturous welcome at the Barisan Nasional Penang Chinese New Year function at the Han Chiang High School grounds on Monday (12 Feb 2013). Turning to the second page of the New Straits Times, this ludicrous message was the headline to grab anyone's attention:

Wow, everybody loved the PM. He could do no wrong. He had bowled over the people in Penang with his promises and pledges. However, all this was only a fairy tale. A fairy tale that exists only in the imagination of mainstream media. The reality painted a very grim future not only for the Barisan Nasional in Penang but perhaps across the whole country. For this below was the story that the New Straits Times refused to report. And not only the NST but also the whole gamut of the government-controlled Press.

But suppression of the report in the print media does not mean that the real message cannot get out. By nightfall on Monday, news of the crowd's rejection of the Barisan Nasional had gone viral on the Internet. Prime Minister Najib Razak had become the laughing stock of all Malaysia... Here is the video:

Al-Qaeda plans attack on Chiangmai; southern Muslims in fear

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 09:23 AM PST

The Al-Qaeda threat to attack the US consulate in Chiangmai, Thailand came a few days after five government soldiers were killed by what was described by Bangkok as 'Muslim militants' in the southern region which borders Malaysia.

Although Thailand has never been the target of terrorist, the news about possible attacks by Al-Qaeda on US interest in the kingdom would have an adverse effect on the government's effort in continuing its peaceful engagement policy with the south Muslims.

Any threat by Al-Qaeda will put the Muslims under surveillance, and the possibility of an army onslaught and backlash on them cannot be discounted.

Should the attacks take place, the Muslims and Islam will be under askance all over again, just like the 9/11 attacks on New York World Trade Center about 12 years ago which made the US and its Western allies to review their 'treatment' on any Muslim entering or leaving their countries. Islam and Muslims were condemned as terrorist without mercy.

Even 2 years after 9/11, I was screened, question and had to undergo a thorough body check for almost two hours at the Chicago airport before granted entry. A letter from the US embassy in Kuala Lumpur didn't convince the airport security that I came as a guest to the mayor.

Security around the US consulate in the the northern city was beefed up since Sunday amid intelligence reports that Al-Qaeda was planning an attack on it this month. Public vehicles were also diverted a few hundred meters away.

Although Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra told reporters that Al-Qaeda will not be able to penetrate the security line, the people are worried as the most up-to-date security system in the US failed to detect the attacks on New York.
Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubumrung refused to give details about the threats, but said the reinforced measures had been put in place since Feb 6 and will continue until the end of multinational military exercises, called Cobra Gold, on Sunday.
"They are focusing on staging an attack during the Cobra Gold exercise," Chalerm said. "Some might have come to the country as tourists, but we have in-depth information and are definitely following them."
Chalerm said that some of the groups' members have fled Thailand after knowing that authorities had learned about their plots. "Some of them remained here, but I believe they can't carry out any attacks."
The United States is among the seven nations participating in the exercises, which kicked off on Monday in Chiang Mai. The other countries involved are Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
Chalerm said the reports came from domestic sources and were deemed "dangerous."
In southern district of Pattani on Sunday, militant Muslim were accused of opening fire on the soldiers, killing five of them, and took away the dead soldiers' rifles, he said. One wounded soldier was rushed to a hospital.

The six soldiers were on their way to guard a group of local farmers on their way to work.

'Insurgents' also set off a bomb on a road in Ra Ngae district in Narathiwat province and wounded four soldiers.

These developments would lead to Thailand engaging US and Nato army to paralyse the insurgents in the south as any attack by Al-Qaeda on the consulate or any US interests would provide them with a lame excuse to vent it on the Muslims.

To the Muslims, they have valid reason for fear!

South Australia's biggest Islamic school warns Muslim and non-Muslim teachers that they'll be fired if they don't wear hijab to school functions

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 06:18 AM PST

"Teachers at Islamic College of South Australia's West Croydon campus ordered to wear hijab or face sack," by Bryan Littlely in The Australian, 11 February 2013
An Adelaide Islamic school wants its teachers to wear the hijab for school functions, or they could be sacked. SOUTH Australia's biggest Islamic school has warned teachers, including many non-Muslims, that they will lose their jobs if they do not wear a hijab to school functions and outings. Up to 20 non-Muslim female teachers, who do not wish to be named, have been told they will be sacked from the Islamic College of South Australia's West Croydon campus after three warnings if they do not wear a headscarf to cover their hair.
The order, from the school's governing board and chairman Faruk Kahn, contradicts the policy of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. Mr Kahn yesterday referred The Advertiser to AFIC for comment on the matter. "I have no comment ... I think you better go to AFIC, they are the only ones that are to make comment," Mr Kahn said. School principal Kadir Emniyet did not return calls. AFIC assistant secretary Keysar Trad said the policy was at odds with the national federation, but it was powerless to intervene. "I'm aware there's a policy at that school with respect to the scarf," Mr Trad said. "The AFIC policy is not to require any teacher to observe the hijab. In SA, the board itself has decided they want to operate in their way and we are not allowed to interfere in the matter.
"We maintain that staff should dress modestly but not be required by the nature of policy to wear the hijab." Mr Trad said that matters of unfair dismissal resulting from teachers disobeying the school's hijab policy should be referred to Fair Work Australia. "It's confusing for our children to see their teachers wearing the scarf in school and then they take it off when they are out shopping and the children see them there," he said. "It is also a respect thing for our staff. If they are not Muslim they should not be forced to dress as Muslim.
One long-term teacher at the Islamic College of SA said a new school board was now "forcing teachers to put hijabs back on". "There's no discussion ... you wear it or you're fired," the teacher said. "The teachers have always adhered to the policies and we are respectful of that. "We are respectful of their religion but they are not going to respect us."
Ain't that always the way.

My comment to FB>>>Now I am sure, you do not read or do not understand the Anti-Islam writings in Burmese. In one pic the person even put a dog's pic as Allah….
I wish to repeat that if you do not understand one language you should not allow on your property ie your FB, until and unless you employ the staffs that understand the particular language.
There are numerous Myanmars abusing Islam and Muslims of Myanmar. If you just employ non Muslims, they will be biased against Muslims and would definitely cover-up their own co-religious persons' abuses.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your experience reporting this content?
My reply to FB>>>You need to improve a lot. I am fed up with your inaction on abuses on Islam.

Tidak Mustahil "Arab Spring" Berlaku JIKA Ada Penipuan Dalam PRU - Mat Sabu

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 07:14 AM PST

Mahathir and his Malay dilemma redux by Commander (Rtd) S Thayaparan formerly of the Royal Malaysian Navy

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:35 AM PST

[Mahathir+crying.jpg]
"Saya tak mengharapkan pahlawan. Orang tak selalu baik, benar, berani. Tapi saya mengkagumi tindakan yang baik, benar, berani, biarpun sebentar." - Goenawan Mohamad (Pagi dan Hal-Hal yang Dipungut Kembali)

COMMENT The truth is I enjoy writing about former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad. His lies and distortions reveal far more about the Malaysian psyche than anything said by the rest of the political elite (BN and Pakatan Rakyat) in this country.NONEMahathir's latest threat about needing a two-thirds majority to amend the constitution to kick out Bersih co-chairperson S Ambiga (right) is not merely a threat against Ambiga but against anyone who dares threaten the Umno status quo.

It shows anyone what Umno has in store for those who have the temerity to exercise their democratic rights or should that be, fight for their democratic rights. However, why the need to strip recalcitrant Malaysians of their citizenship? Anyone who has read the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) would have discovered that it is just as pernicious as the ISA. Cold Storage not good enough any more?

The arrest and subsequent charging of Yazid Sufaat and others on terrorism charges reeks of some sort of Pax Americana conspiracy. Understand now that I am not accusing the government of anything (yet) but really, with the release of Yazid from ISA detention and now these arrests, the firebrand with all his Malaysiakini interviews, seems like a government asset. So much for accusing de facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of being a US plant. Anyone who has read the Wikileaks exposes on Malaysia would understand that the spooks from Langley would consider many within the ruling Umno elite as the puppets most susceptible to their charms, not to mention those from across the causeway.

I, for one, will be eagerly waiting for what this trial will reveal with the knowledge that security experience brings that what is not revealed is just as vital as that which is. Of course being the sneaky racist that he is, Mahathir (above) throws in the usual canard that "Malay laziness" is the downfall of the community and their hegemony is sustained by the non-Malays - read Chinese. His reference to Uganda is rather queer, since the Indian diaspora there was kicked out unceremoniously, but I suppose with the Indian Muslim support that Umno enjoys, the old manipulator was merely paying respects to a community that has far more influence in Umno than the fisherfolks and padi farmers that Umno claims to represent.

"The Malays themselves then gave away their economic power by letting non-Malays control trade and related activities," he gravelly intones. Actually what is accurate is: "The Malays themselves gave away their economic power by letting Umno, with the sycophancy of a plutocracy of non-Malays, control trade and related activities... and these sycophants, with the exception of the MIC, did a far better job of protecting non-Malay interest then Umno did with the Malays, which is why the Chinese community or a certain significant majority of it can throw their support behind a certain section of a disenfranchised Malay community attempting a change of leadership."

Malay community's diverse past

Much has been written about the feudalistic nature of Malay society to explain Umno dominance but of course, the subaltern histories of the Malay community have been expunged from the public record. What are lost are the narratives of those Malays who opposed their Malay rulers when they were "giving away" Malay land to the British. We forget that PAS for an extremely long time has been using religious dogma to fight "Umno secularism".

What is lost and what Umno fears are remnants of a Malay polychromatic past, which emblems like flags and literature are slowing resurfacing which reminds the Malay community of their diverse past. How this lost past is slowing being reintroduced into the community and influencing the Malay community is beyond the scope of this piece and perhaps beyond my ability to articulate. The Malay community is fractured but merely claiming that Pakatan is duping those Malays in the opposition is the dumbest form of Umno propaganda. Mahathir's old canards, which perhaps could have galvanised Malay support en masse in the past, are all but over. Signs are evident even to those who practice their dark sorcery in the corridors of Putrajaya that a certain segment of the Malay community is immune to the spells of Umno.

There are obvious signs we can point to. Anwar's rallying cry that Umno has betrayed the Malay community through incompetence and corruption. PAS' Islamic agenda as a panacea to Umno's moral degradation of the Malay community. The economic deprivation that a certain section of the Malay community which translates into skepticism of Umno and eventually into the arms of the opposition.

In addition, let us not forget that the Umno Baru that Mahathir spawned, is merely the symbol of the schism within the Malay Umno community. Its effects have trickled down to the rank and file which over the years, racial politics, the concept of Malayness and a whole host of other issues have been conflated in what was in essence a power struggle between the warlords in Umno. But it has now has been embraced into the greater oppositional Malay struggle.

I used to think that these newly created constitutional Malays would prove to be Umno's undoing because amongst other things,  a fight for resources between "authentic Malays" and these 'bumiputera barus', would eventually come to a head with the native and interlopers within their own ranks, battling it out for the soul of the community. However, a long-time Indonesian comrade offered an alternative explanation after he took offence at my jibe that Umno had created a fifth column of his countrymen in this country. He felt that the influx of new blood into the Malay community comes with new ideas that are not predisposed to the Umno way of thinking.

A quiet rebellion

As it is anecdotally speaking, I see far more rhetoric against the concepts of Ketuanan Melayu amongst a certain section of the Malay community and a quiet rebellion against the feudalistic nature of their community. I have no idea if this is the result of the influx of "new ideas" but having lived amongst their Javanese brethren, ideas which are slowly taking shape here have deep roots in principles already established there. When Mahathir goes on about the Malay community needing its crutches, what he forgets is that by its dereliction of duty - no, this is incorrect - by an agenda to fossilise the Malay mind, those crutches were only provided to a certain section of the Malay community.

Many were left out in the cold and for those who were not, they realised too late that those crutches did not give them any advantage over the non-Malays but were in fact chains that shackled them to Umno soil. While the non-Malays progressed and could adapt anywhere in the world, the Malays were left with a compromised educational system (for instance) that only seemed to work in this country. For those Malays who support the opposition and who no doubt were the ones left out in the cold, the idea of the 'advantages' that the idea of Ketuanan Rakyat bring is a far more powerful draw than the weak record of Umno rule. After all, with the racist groupings of the alternative front, what they hope for is a Malay leadership, which would take care of their interests and who cares if it is done under a multiracial/cultural cloaking device.

The truth has always been that the only dilemma in the Malay community is the one former PM Mahathir Mohamad created. Malaysiakini

For the Indians, Chinese and Malay, the making of the Indonesian Bumiputras - From the archives

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:10 AM PST

Every single unspent Ringgit earned by the Indonesians are remitted back home whereas the wealth of Malaysia's citizens are reinvested in the country. The Govt machinery runs on taxation income derived from its citizens but spent on the children of Indonesian immigrants who incidentally according to Police statistics account for 33% of all crime in the nation.

The real losers in this scenario are members of the Indian community. Particularly the uneducated who are deprived of the same level of educational opportunity as the children of Indonesian immigrants. And now with free and better education, we can expect even more Indonesians to come over to Malaysia as public education in Indonesia is not cheap. With the population of Indonesians already exceeding the number of Indians in the country, one wonders if there is a hidden agenda to dilute the population mix any further.

How many "Indonesian Malaysians" are currently enjoying Bumiputra benefits? How many of them are already enjoying Govt sponsorships and aid for various reasons? The answers are a well kept secret. The MIC youth leaders were lamenting the fate of Indians in the country recently. Because of public prejudice against Indians, employers were reluctant to employ them. The police have a habit of indiscriminately arresting every Indian youth in sight every time a crime occurs and keeping them in lock up for days. As a result, the youth are reluctant to return to work, unable to explain their absence. Those who do are pressured out of employment when the reason for their absence is revealed. The number of uninvestigated deaths of Indian youth in Police lock ups around the country is rising. And the MIC is looking more disempowered by the day.

The racial polarization caused by UMNO's superiority complex is creating a stronger spirit of protectionism among the Chinese which doesn't help the fate of Indians in Malaysia. Malaysia has forgotten the contribution of its Indian citizenry. Recently, the Selangor state Govt evicted 43 Indian families who had occupied a plot of Govt land in Kuala Selangor for over 80 years. Their appeal for a stay of the eviction order was denied by the Chief Minister of Selangor who incidentally is the son of an Indonesian immigrant.

I write to appeal to you all to stop thinking of the Indian underclass as somebody else's problem. Indians are intelligent, hard working and loyal. But the level of frustration, lack of confidence and lack of entrepreneurship among them is the result of the selfishness of the Govt. With collective contribution of society, this can all change.

Nice letter from a Sri Siva in Malaysiakini about the MIC.

BN ‘Tunggu Mati’ Di Perak: Analisis Buktikan PR Bakal Menang 40 Dari 59 Kerusi

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 03:45 AM PST

"Negeri Perak memerlukan satu kerajaan sah melalui mandat rakyat. BN telah melakukan satu kesilapan besar," ujar beliau.

Sambil menyifatkan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak membuat perhitungan meleset apabila menganggap 'rakyat Malaysia mudah lupa', beliau turut berkata, ia diperkuat lagi dengan bukti bahawa BN tidak berjaya membawa apa-apa perubahan nyata di Perak.

"Banyak slogan retorik seperti 'Perak Aman Jaya', 'Tiada Yang Tertinggal, Tiada Yang Terpinggir' sekadar omong-omong kosong saja.

-Roketkini

Bakal Menantu Najib Perlu Diheret Ke Muka Pengadilan

Posted: 11 Feb 2013 11:01 PM PST

KKemunculan Daniyar Nazarbayev, warga Kazakhstan bersama Perdana Menteri dan anaknya, Nooryana Najwa ketika menikmati nasi kandar di Pulau Pinang malam kelmarin bukti Datuk Seri Najib Razak sorok bakal menantunya itu di negara ini, kata Fariz Musa.

Ahli Majlis Pimpinan Pusat KEADILAN itu berkata, kehadiran Daniyar di khalayak mengesahkan dakwaan mengatakan Najib sembunyikan tunang Nooryana, penjenayah paling dikehendaki.

"Najib bukan sahaja menyembunyikan jenayah seperti kes pembunuhan Altantuya (Shaariibuu) tetapi turut melindungi penjenayah. Inilah sebenarnya Najib.

Sebelum ini, Daniyar – mengikut laporan New York Post dan media antarabangsa lain, menipu bapa tirinya, Bolat Nazarbayez seunit kondominum mewah berharga AS$20 juta (RM60 juta).

Freedom of Hate Speeches and Character Assassination on Face Book and online media by anonymous abusers

Posted: 11 Feb 2013 09:14 PM PST

With a long CNY holiday, expecting less Malaysian crowd of patients waiting for me in the clinic, I came to the clinic with light heart.

But I was not only surprised but a little bit worried when there is full of Rakhine looking and sounding people in the waiting room and in front of the registration countre.

Suddenly, a tough looking stout guy looked like the leader came to me and told me that he had brought his friends to see me. His face looks familiar but I could not recognize him. This is my weak point; my memory is never so good in memorizing names and faces. But all of them look like innocent and imposed no immediate danger.

My memory is curious, once I stop thinking and enter my consultation room, I remembered him. He was the person with Phimosis (narrow opening of prepuce) with stone stuck near the urethral orifice, came to me with five days of acute retention of urine (in-able to pass urine) with urinary bladder distended up to umbilicus.

Although he is a Rakhine Buddhist and has no money and no passport, no UNHCR card but staying with a Rakhine Card, scared and refused to go to hospital, I have operated for him. He wished to go and sell the gold pieces but I told him that he needed to do dorsal slit first and pay later. Actually he came back and paid in full later.

Yes, he brought in a group of Rakhine Buddhists who are ill for a long period without much relieve after seeing at other Malaysian clinics. I checked, given treatment and referred some of them to the various hospitals for further investigation and treatment.

Actually, on normal days I have just a couple of Rakhines and on the public holidays at least about five Rakhine patients per day. We have a mutual respect, I do my job thoroughly as a doctor without looking at race or religion and they trusted me and paying their dues regularly.

I may have a Rohingya patient rarely only, may be not more than one patient per month.

Although I am active on line as a Human Rights activist especially for Equal Rights and Democracy for all Myanmar and all the minorities, because of the special condition and suffering of Rohingyas and because of the relentless Hate Speeches on all the Muslims of Myanmar, I am seen as a Muslim Activist especially by the ultranationalists.

I am surprised and angry when those ultranationalists tried to tarnish my reputation by character assassination with LIES on my family members, extended family members and me by even using the pictures of them. They shamelessly abuses with foul languages and shared by the unthinking people who even never know me. They are like having a sheep mentality and the sharing by hundreds and abusive comments multiply again. My brother had rightly commented that they are like dogs or wolves that have an uncontrollable urge to bark or howl when they heard the howling of others.

Face book authorities are also almost useless even after I reported the abuses hundreds of times. Is this the democracy and free speech but without responsibility that people are fighting around the world?

I am using FB and blog with my true identity. FB should shut down all the anonymous users that were reported or known abusers of others. Or at least they must reveal their identity. It is funny that those anonymous abusers are accusing us as cowards.

Penjelasan isu Perai Power Plant dan mohon penjelasan TNB, Samsung dan Anak Najib

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:19 AM PST

Kenyataan Umum

12 Januari 2013

Adakah TNB pembida terendah, tanpa mendedahkan siapa rakan kongsi membida adakah ia memenuhi kreteria merit sepenuhnya ?
  4. Persoalan juga muncul apabila beberapa gambar anak Najib (PM) bersama beberapa watak penting dalam syarikat Samsung dilihat bersama ketika 'time frame' ramai sibuk melobi projek mega tersebut. Adakah ia hanya kebetulan ?

Sekian.

Countdown To PRU 13..

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:43 AM PST

Everybody must take an oath in the name of Allah..both sides..BN and PR..no cheating at the ballots.
Then we the rakyat will accept whole-heartedly the results of the elections.
Surely some strict guidelines can be plonked on the tables.

If BN wins, Alhamdulillah..
Should PR wins, then we on the BN side have to accept the shocking reality...
We Malaysians hate to panic and store groceries in the pantry..there'll surely be a price hike in rice and other essentials..shortage of food will be clanking madly..

Not all of us are rich with extra funds..to buy ahead and keep the foodstuffs.
And nobody wants the possibility of bloodshed and violent chaos.

Therefore, calm down both sides.
Breathe in and out..do we want a crazy nightmare on the streets after the PRU 13?

Please do not scare the shit out of us already not so wealthy/simple minded people.
We have enough unsorted personal and financial problems..
Nevertheless..we always bersyukur...Alhamdulillah.

If BN and PR can agree to accept the outcome of the PRU 13 without wrecking the peace of the country, then our country have definitely achieved that status of a mentally developed country where the politicians and citizens are emotionally sane enough to protect the prosperity of their beloved homeland from twisted turmoil.

So BN and PR..please do not maul each other savagely when the time comes.
We are not animals..

p.s.
Nanti edit..have to buy fish now..

I want to know..many of us probably would like to know..is it true that for the CNY entertainment in Penang, BN paid 2million ringgit to bring in Psy that Gangnam fello yang joget macam bola getah?
We all mengeluh lah if so..:(
Ada yang kata 2 million USD..is this true?
