BN mula khianati janji turun harga kereta

Janji Di Capati
Pakatan did not seek an immediate removal of all excise duties but a staggered 20 percent reduction annually over five years. This gradual reduction of excise duties will in effect result in approximately 4-5 percent reduction in car prices annually. Hence the impact on the second-hand car dealers will be very limited. Secondly, Mustapa must have failed his economics because a reduction in taxes will not result in loss of job opportunities.
The minister has even tried to scare Malaysians that cheaper cars will cause the trip from Shah Alam to Kuala Lumpur to take three hours due to worsening traffic jams, which will then "cause" the construction of more "tolled highways". Malaysians are forced to buy pricey cars not out of choice, because the BN government is more interested in protecting its crony car manufacturers who are unable to compete internationally and to enrich its toll concessionaires with uber-lucrative highway privatisation contracts.
We believe that this breach of a key manifesto promise by the BN, prominently highlighted during the election campaign by the mainstream media, will only be the first of its many broken promises to come. There is no political will to transform the current crony economy which is suffering from excessive protection, inefficiency and corruption. Instead, the BN will use every excuse to tax Malaysians directly via multiple channels such as car excise duties and the Goods & Services Tax, or indirectly via lucrative privatised utilities or highway concessions.
Taxing the rakyat more, while maintaining the existing duties are the only means by which the BN government will be able to continue funding its largesse and excesses. Extracts of Tony Pua's article in Malaysiakini

The New Paper
Actress Chris Tong's pet saves her from late-night attacker
by Abigail Goh
SINGAPORE - Man's best friend saved a woman in distress.
MediaCorp actress Chris Tong's dog attacked her robber, preventing him from grabbing the keys to her four-year-old Mercedes-Benz SLKClass car.
The incident happened at 1am yesterday morning in Cheras, a Kuala Lumpur (KL) suburb.
Tong, 30, who is based in KL, was out buying supper.
She was walking with her year-old Maltese, Baby, to her car parked at the side of the street when she was shoved from behind.
She was sent sprawling, bruising the left side of her face.
She also suffered scrapes and bruises to her arms and legs.
She said in a phone interview from KL last night: "I was caught unawares because the man came from behind and I was pushed to the ground.
"At that point, I was too scared to think. My mind went blank."
The man tried to grab her car keys but Baby started barking and tried to attack him.
The man kicked the dog. Fortunately, people who heard the commotion started shouting at the man. The frightened robber then ran off.
Tong said the attacker was tall and had tanned skin.
"I was worried for Baby but luckily the robber's kick did not hurt him," she said.

A mosque and an Islamic religious school were torched today in Lashio which is a town located in Shan State, eastern Burma.
The mob had gathered at the surrounding area of the mosque, which is the largest mosque in Lashio, located in No.8 quarter at 8 pm tonight and they set fire to the building at around 8.10 pm.
According to some sources, fire brigade did not take any responsibility upon late arrival of fire engines and not extinguishing. Fire fighters just simply claimed that they did not receive any further instruction to do so.
The mob moved on to the Islamic religious school and orphanage and set it on fire. That school gives shelter to more than 200 students.
M-Media correspondent reported that the tension appeared after the dispute between a man and a woman who had been set on fire and later it was spread out as the man is a muslim. Based on a local resident, our correspondent confirmed that the man is not muslim. The victim was admitted to Lashio hospital.
The authorities have issued Section 144 in Lashio in response to this.
In Lashio, there are five mosques and an orphanage. Around 1500 muslim families are residing in.

Suami saya memperjuangkan kebenaran, suami saya bukan pesalah.
Jangan biarkan suami saya keseorangan." Isteri Safwan Anang.

UMNO's affairs are no longer my business. It becomes my business if UMNO unashamedly continue to behave as though it's the only choice Malays have. Malays now have a choice. The Malays in Raub do not have problems with me being a DAP MP- what they see is just an MP with whom they can relate to, speak and seek service from.
This is a welcome change- people can actually judge you in terms of what you can do instead of judging you on the basis of who inherited a particular status. UMNO with its ingrained behaviour of living off past accomplishments and latching on to its origins will have no relevance as people adopt achievement norms instead of acscriptive or pre-assigned norms. I hope the people of Kedah will soon discover the uselessness of succumbing to the imputed abilities of the son of Mahathir. Accordingly I don't agree when Tun Daim says that Najib should be given a second chance. Why? Because he is willing to play ball to Dr Mahathir?
He managed to get only 133 parliamentary seats despite spending billions, setting aside only a small portion of the RM20billion savings in withdrawn subsidies in the form of BR1Ms and other income transfers. Where is the balance 14 billion or so? Najib got 133 seats despite bill boarding across the country's highways where people vomit at the sight of the condescending billboards. Despite also declaring so many economic initiatives. People are not buying Najib's craps anymore. Otherwise, he would have gotten 5 million Malay votes. Pak Lah got 140 seats.
The UMNO warlords were not willing to be forgiving and wanted him to go. Najib of course committed political non-feasance by standing idly by, encouraging others to kick out Pak Lah. He was of course the direct beneficiary if Pak Lah was ousted. Continue to this great article by Sakmongkol AK47 here.....

When it was Breivik, it was "far-right", although many would argue that Breivik's knee-jerk protectionism was more akin to the hard-Left. Whatever. It's still a label. Because you see... journalism... it's about the facts. It's about accuracy. It's about telling the story to people who know little or have heard nothing of it. Sure, I guess Omar Khan, Jewel Uddin, Anzal Hussain, Mohammed Saud and Zohaib Ahmed could be atheists. Their names do give something away about them -- but why is this up to the reader to infer? When discussing Pastor Terry Jones -- he's not just "a man who wants to burn Quran's" is he? He's a white, Christian pastor from Gainsville, Florida.
I'm not even saying that "Muslim" should be the key factor here. Of course they were British Muslims. Like the Boston bombers were American, of Chechen and Avar descent.... Muslims. See it doesn't have to be the operative word. It's not trying to attack Islam to state a fact? It's just a fact!
You'll hopefully know that in no way would I want to use an incident like this to demonise Muslims as a whole, or the Muslim community, but as some of the very same religious heritage as these men, I find it fundamentally disconcerting that we can't seem to call a spade a spade in this country. They were Muslims. They were Islamists. They were jihadists and yes, they were extremists. You don't talk about the "kuffar" and try to blow people up otherwise. Oh and the headline of the BBC piece? "EDL bomb plot: Did the police miss it?" Now does that sound like a jihadist bomb plot? Or does it sound like the EDL were planning to blow people up? The article in full here........

The myth of the 'Zionist Crusader'
The Muslim holy war to expel the Christian invaders did not begin until almost a century after the initial Crusader conquests.
The Jewish connection to the Land of Israel is organic and ancient. Jewish redemption and the Jewish future are centered on the Land of Israel. Anti-Israel propagandists can continue to rob the State of Israel of its legitimacy by portraying Jews as a foreign, imperialist element in the Land of Israel, yet in the end, the truth will win out. The Zionist movement – an anti-imperialist movement to the core – returned the Jewish people to their homeland. The myth of the "Zionist Crusader" is a distortion of history that has only yielded lies and misery. Hat tip: EOZ

On the 26th of November 2008, a group of terrorists struck a dozen targets in Mumbai, India including the iconic, 103-year old Taj Palace Hotel. The siege at the hotel lasted two days and three nights and was covered extensively by international media. But there is an amazing, inspirational back story about the heroic actions of the Taj staff couched in the culture of the Taj Hotels company. What can the staff, who saved lives while endangering their own, teach American companies about ethical behavior?

He is blunt and to the point. It is also about the West's yawning and ignoring the atrocities that Muslim's commit in their own countries. If the latest act of jihadi terror was different in nature, the reaction by mainstream Islamic groups and prominent Muslims in Britain was not. It was exactly the same as it has been after every tragic incident. Old press releaseswere brushed off and sent afresh to the media. While ordinary Britons and non-Muslims around the world are bewildered by these never-ending acts of terrorism, the response of the leaders of the Islamic community is the tired old cliche -- Islam is a religion of peace, and jihad is simply an "inner struggle." Gov't to slash car prices in five years, says minister
FellowMalaysian: This is another reason why Malaysians are fast losing confidence with the BN-led government. They are insincere in fulfilling their promises - why announce now when it will only be implemented five years down the line? With archaic-minded Mustapa Mohamed re-appointed as its minister, the International Trade and Industry Ministry will suffer yet another five years of quiescent inactivity under this clueless minister, whose only claim for achievements is his ability to survive through the years because of his Mahathir link.
Anonymous_3f89: Irresponsible and insensitive to the need of the poor, the international trade and industries minister gleefully (happy for reasons only known to himself and Umno) has declared, five more years of continued plunder. The poor is to continue paying for higher price cars to further enrich the wealthy. Public transportation is so poor that without a car, the poor has no other means of transportation to move around. The total cost of owning a car at such a high price is sometimes more than 50 percent of total personal income. The poor, regardless of bangsa (race) or budaya (culture) are literally a modern-day slave, working hard day and night, and month after month, slaving for Umno's cronies.
Iamleavingbutdecidedtostay: In the first place, BN and its policies created this artificially high car prices in Malaysia. Now they are saying this and that.
Rakyat Malaysia: As usual, BN people need to continue eating away the rakyat's money until the next election, which is in five years' time later. By that time inflation will be like 50 to 500 percent. Will the 20 to 30 percent reduction in car prices have any effect then? In the meantime, BN people will continue to eat our money.
Hajile Leumas: Please abolish the AP system as an immediate step if BN government is sincere in reducing the price of cars for the rakyat. Five years is way too long. Think "outside the box" to implement this sooner. Proton cars are being sold outside Malaysia for much less than its price in Malaysia.
iTalk: It is not just to have the means to milk the cows, but they must know how to feed the cows properly in order to have more milk from them. This what BN leadership is good at - "you help me and I help you". Many acts are implemented in time as baits for voters and we have to wait three to five years in order to see better deals for baits..
Jessy 6: Local car manufacturers should not be afraid if the government reduces car prices. They must start thinking of how to make local cars better and more competitive with international car manufacturers like Honda, Mazda and Mercedes-Benz. Or shall I say the government should not be afraid?
Oscar Kilo: "He (Mustafa) said that prices will be reduced in accordance to the market force..." Hello? The market is already forcing the prices down, but Umno-BN resists the force and artificially inflates the prices. Idiot.
Timothy: That was fast and far-sighted. Already dangling a pre-GE14 carrot.
Hplooi: Remove all forms of government support and subsidies to Proton and all government-linked companies (GLC) car manufacturers. Free up the market and prices will automatically come down.
No Fool: The rakyat cannot continue to support the inefficient local auto industry for life, and Malaysians don't owe them a living. AP for the import of cars should be auctioned out through open tender based on market value, instead of giving it away to cronies at way below market price for them to make easy money. The savings from the selling of APs can be offset some of the reduction in car excise duty.
Jean Pierre: Yes, reduce 1 percent every year until the fifth year, and then promise to reduce the remaining 25 percent if BN is re-elected. Brilliant.
Anonymous_5fb: Sudahlah (enough). Five years from now is another GE, and the promises continue. I wonder how to reduce car prices without abolishing or reducing excise duties. But since Pakatan has the same manifesto in reducing car prices, perhaps Tok Pa (Mustafa) can consult PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli or DAP publicity chief Tony Pua. Jangan segan-segan ya (don't be shy), Tok Pa.
Dpillai: How do you reduce car prices without reducing excise duties? Based on Pakatan's plan, Rafizi promised to abolish excise duty in five years in stages. Currently a Honda Accord in Peninsular Malaysia is RM140,000 but only RM90,000 in duty-free Langkawi. The excise duty is RM50,000. Therefore, a gradual reduction over five years will amount to RM10,000 per annum or 50,000 in five years, which is about 50 percent. How is BN going to bring down prices without reducing duties?
Kgen: How will 200,000 jobs suffer as a result of lower car prices? On the contrary, the industry will be simulated by more sales and thus creating new jobs. Maybe some second-hand car dealers will incur losses initially but most of them will be able to recover. Stop giving silly excuses not to lower car prices.
Clever Voter: Any reduction in prices will impact financially on those cronies with vested interest. That's why prices will not come down. That's what PM Najib Razak meant when he said he had the people's interest in mind. But sadly only 51 percent of the voters understood this.
Multi Racial: Firstly the BN government will not do anything if Rafizi of Pakatan did not make the bold promise to slash car price upon Pakatan winning Putrajaya. Secondly, he only talks about a gradual price cut over five years, why not immediately? Who they are protecting? He did not mention APs. When will the BN government remove the APs for good? Having APs is the direct cause of high car prices. There is no need to protect Proton and Perodua, both have burdened the people enough. No more issuing APs, enough of the additional tax paid by Malaysians.
Five-year wait too long for cars price-cu

aNt's aNgle: It was extremely saddening to hear that Dr Xavier was dropped from the Selangor Exco.
The man, in particular, of the many other good and great things that he had done had contributed immensely to the disability cause and animals.
It was a joy for me to work with him at the Exco level. I managed to get a number of milestone things for the two pet causes in my work with the

A devoted mother-of-four who lost her battle with cervical cancer has left her family a moving 20-point plan of how to live a happy life after her death.
Annmarie James-Thomas hand-wrote the poignant life guide shortly before she died in March aged 44.
Her heartbroken husband Geraint revealed the contents of the note on what would have been his wife's 45th birthday.
ANNMARIE'S POIGNANT 20-POINT LIFE PLAN
1. What you put out comes back all the time - no matter what.
2. You define your own script. Don't let others write your script for you.
3. Whatever someone did to you in the past has no power over the present. Only if you give it power.
4. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.
5. Worrying is wasted time. Use the same energy for doing something about whatever worries you.
6. Whatever you believe has more power than what you dream or wish or hope for. You become
what you believe.
7. If the only prayer you ever say is 'Thank you' then that will be enough.
8. The happiness you feel is in direct proportion to the love you give.
9. Failure is a signpost to turn you in another direction.
10. If you make a choice that goes against what everyone else thinks, the world will not fall apart.
11. Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn't lie.
12. Love yourself and then learn to extend that love to others in every encounter.
13. Let passion drive your profession.
14. Love doesn't hurt. It feels really good.
15. Every day brings a chance to start over.
16. Doubt means "don't". Don't answer. Don't rush forward.
17. When you don't know what to do, be still. The answer will come.
18. Trouble doesn't last always.
19. This too shall pass.
20. I will act with the intent to be true to myself

-FMT
