Anwar will not give up. His Black 505 rally will go on amid the fact he has lost, Pakatan Rakyat did not win the 13th general election and he failed to become a prime minister.

So crazy for power. He keeps the lies and strews it around, dodging the people into believing that Barisan Nasional's legitimate win was a victory robbed from him.

By hook or by crook, he wants Najib's seat. Read his latest blog post:
We won the elections but UMNO has used the Elections Commission to steal our victory. They have cheated the people. They have violated their rights. And now the police are being instructed to issue unwarranted threats of prosecution if we proceed with this rally.
To the people, let me say this:
Ignore these threats. It is your constitutional right to assemble peacefully. Your lives cannot be dictated by the police, or UMNO or the Prime Minister.
Tomorrow marks our 15th Black 505 rally. It is your right to demand that the Election Commission heads step down for the widespread fraud. The ink was not indelible and that itself is a crime but tomorrow's rally will leave an indelible imprint in our history. Your children and my children and the future generations to come will remember it.
The whole nation is under threat. Rallies in open space like the Padang Merbok opens the door to provocation and it may spill to other parts of Kuala Lumpur.

But it is their intention - provoke the police and create a scene so that the authority and the government will take the blame. Just like Bersih 3.0, the demonstrators got notorious and attacked the police personnel and destroyed public properties.

To Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and IGP Khalid Abu Bakar, dont get scared and do not tolerate should the rally turns ugly. No discount on law and order, please!

The police must act accordingly. Bring them in if they create chaos and disrupt our peaceful Saturday. The opposition will definitely make noise and criticise the authority as usual but dont get intimidated as they actually know they are wrong!

To measure pollution levels for the major air pollutants:
Singapore use Pollution Standards Index (PSI)
Malaysia uses Air Pollution Index (API).

So, what's the difference?

Not much difference, I guess.

Wikipedia says:
The air quality in Malaysia is reported as the API or Air Pollution Index, which is based closely on the PSI.

Kenyataan Wan Ahmad Cenderung Sokong BN

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 07:02 AM PDT

"Kita tengok sekarang, cepat-cepat angkat sumpah, cepat-cepat ubah (pendirian), sebelum ini cuma nak boikot taklimat dia kata," kata Wan Ahmad seperti dilaporkan. -mk

Ulasan GB

Bila MP Pakatan Rakyat mahu boikot dituduhnya sebagai mengkhianati amanah rakyat, bila tak diboikot dituduhnya pula hipokrit.

Rakyat takkan lepaskan penipuan SPR. Pengerusi dan Timbalan Pengerusi SPR wajib dipenjarakan. Bertenggeklah kamu di belakang Najib, insyaAllah Najib juga bakal tumbang tidak lama lagi.

Chandra Muzaffar: Asean must urge UN to end persecution of Rohingyas in Myanmar

Chandra Muzaffar: Asean must urge UN to end persecution of Rohingyas in Myanmar

Dr Chandra Muzaffar. By RASHVINJEET SINGH BEDI

PETALING JAYA: Asean can persuade the United Nations to end the persecution of Rohingyas in Myanmar, said International Movement for Just World (JUST) president Dr Chandra Muzaffar.

"Asean has a major role in persuading the five members of the Security Council if they want the UN to act on the atrocities in Myanmar.

"Their voice carries more weight as Myanmar is part of the Asean family," he said at a recent forum 'Plight of Muslims in Burma in the 21st Century: An Initiative for Solution and the Way Forward' organised by the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia.

Dr Chandra said that the UN would be duty-bound to protect the Rohingya if the Security Council adopted a resolution that says they were victims of genocide.

He added that civil society group within Asean should pressure their governments to take a lead on these issues.

Dr Chandra said that although Myanmar appeared to be opening up to the international world, it was done within the backdrop of military rule.

"The root of the problem is the military regime which is cruel, harsh, brutal and barbaric," he said.

The Rohingya are considered by the United Nations as one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. They are considered to be stateless and are often subjected to arbitrary violence and forced labour.

University Malaya's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences visiting senior research fellow Dr Maung Zarni said that Asean should consider the genocide of Rohingya and the mass violence against Muslims in Myanmar as an issue of wide importance as there were regional consequences.

"Asean countries would be affected with the flow of refugees into their countries and the emergence of human trafficking gangs," he said.

Dr Maung pointed out that eight people died in clashes between Buddhist and Muslim asylum seekers from Myanmar in a detention centre in Medan. Police also uncovered a plot to bomb the Myanmar embassy in Jakarta recently, he added.

"The Burmese government cannot say that Asean is interfering in their affairs," he said.

As of April, there are almost 95,000 refugees and asylum-seekers from Myanmar registered with the UNHCR in Malaysia. An estimated 28,000 of them are Rohingya.

Dissenting M'sians are not a clear and present danger by Commander (Rtd) S Thayaparan formerly of the Royal Malaysian Navy

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:21 AM PDT

From Malaysiakini

"A safe army is better than a safe border." -  BR Ambedkar

COMMENT Director of Internal Security and Public Order Department Salleh Mat Rasid said, "So far, the police can still keep the peace. We keep in touch with the military and will ask them to help if necessary." What exactly does Salleh mean when he says "so far"? Although I (and I am sure many people support the oppositional forces in this country) may have different views on the necessity of these 505 Black rallies, one thing is for sure, if the security forces in this country do not hamper the peaceful assembling of anti-establishment forces, "peace" is maintained along with the principles of freedom of expression and assembly.

Post-GE13 what we have been witness to as far as massive rallies are concerned is that a restrained or should that be constrained Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has resulted in peaceful assemblies where responsible citizens gather and disperse without destabilising the country or public safety. In other words, "so far", with everybody behaving responsibly, those canards of "street protests" disrupting the everyday lives of ordinary citizens have been exposed for the venal propaganda which is best left to the propaganda organs who almost never address the issues head on.

azlanAs it is amongst a certain section of the Malaysian public, the PDRM has no credibility whatsoever. Custodial deaths, corruption and the perception that the PDRM is beholden to their political masters is the public face of an institution that is supposed to protect the interests of every citizen of Malaysia regardless of political affiliation.

Therefore, when Salleh advises the public "not to get involved with the opposition rally or with activities that violate the law", his lack of objectivity, not to mention his unprofessional behaviour, is on full display. Firstly, how is participating in an opposition rally violating the law? Now if the opposition had failed to satisfy whatever bizarre formalities are required to hold this particular public demonstration, then Salleh should have qualified his statement.  Secondly, this continuing equating of support of oppositional forces with violation of laws is frankly moronic considering the results of the recent general elections and the fact that the opposition is the establishment in certain states.

The reality of subservience

It also points to the immaturity of our public institutions, not to mention the perception of subservience, no not perception, the reality of subservience to their political masters. If the PDRM gave an escort to opposition rallies like those that they did with the cow head protesters, I am sure this reality would be dispelled overnight. As it is the best people can hope for is that when it comes to opposition rallies, if the PDRM does not do its job - maintain minimal police presence - the chances of a peaceful gathering, are almost guaranteed. However, what it more troubling is the casual manner in which Salleh mentions that he is keeping "in touch" with the military and will "ask for help" if necessary. Exactly what kind of help is Salleh asking for?

Looking back at the disreputable manner in which the PDRM engaged with ordinary citizens in rallies pre-GE13, I can only conclude that what the PDRM may need help in is tear-gassing citizens and dialoging with Malaysians with batons. Now is this the kind of help that the military should be extending to the PDRM? Now as a former military officer, I know very well that the military and the PDRM maintain contact and exchange ideas on a whole range of security issues affecting this country. We work in tandem keeping the country safe from enemies both foreign and domestic. I have no idea how it is now, but causally mentioning that the military would be called in for is essentially a domestic issue, is tantamount to threatening the public with military force.

I am surprised that there was not an immediate response from the armed forces. But then again, I have been surprised by the responses of the armed forces on a whole range of issues. However, maybe I am mistaken. Perhaps what Salleh meant by "military" was members of Relawan Rakyat Malaysia or Rela. After all, despite objections from many retired service personnel, Section 22 of the Rela Act 2012 enabled Rela to use the established army rank structure. Perhaps these are the "military" personnel who have been used before to "disrupt" peaceful assemblies but who have been stamped with the respectability of Army ranks. Who knows?

(Concerning the Rela Act and army ranks, the Retired Armed Forces Officers Association (RAFOC) were assured that the relevant schedule would be repealed once the election (GE13) was concluded, but no action has been taken. RAFOC approached Ahmad Zahid Hamidi before he left his post and reminded him of his reassurances that action would be taken, but to date there has been no information forthcoming from the current defence minister.) Neither the PDRM nor the military can afford such bad publicity. Both of these institutions are grappling with their own internal problems concerning a whole range of issues that have brought them into public opprobrium. Many retired service personnel who support the establishment or the opposition are dismayed that these institutions are drawn into the games of the political forces of this country.

Deserving of a reprimand

To casually claim that the military would be used against dissenting citizens of this country is something that deserves a reprimand from the federal establishment if it is truly interested in the integrity of our security forces, not to mention the welfare of its citizens. Silence merely confirms the decrepit state of our security apparatus, where anything goes as long as it serves the interest of a political party hell-bent on maintaining its hegemony. It is also further evidence of the racialist right wing strategy that in the long term will eventually destabilise the peace and security of this country.

I realise that these days any criticism of the public institutions of this country is spun as criticisms against a specific community. The least the PDRM or those who are in control of it could do is not drag other institutions into their messes. The fact that establishment forces are not cognisant of this is merely a reflection of the hubris that comes with uninterrupted rule.

Obama Offends Catholics in UK : Says Religious Schools Divisive

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:19 AM PDT

President Barack Obama angered some proponents of Catholic education during his visit to Northern Ireland this week when he told a Belfast audience that towns will remain divided "if Catholics have their schools and buildings, and Protestants have theirs." An article, which subsequently appeared in the Scottish Catholic Observer, carried the headline, "U.S. President Undermines Catholic Schools After Vatican Prefect Praised Them."  The article said Obama "made an alarming call for an end to Catholic education in Northern Ireland," and quoted from recent remarks of the Vatican's Archbishop Gerhard Müller, who had said that Catholic education was "a critical component of the Church."

Special Report: Obama's Assault on Religion — Click Here Now
Dr. Matthew Bunson, senior correspondent for Our Sunday Visitor and author of the new book "Pope Francis," tells Newsmax the president should have chosen his words more carefully, and he pointed to the contribution that Catholic education has made to bringing about the 15-year-old peace in the once-troubled region. "While I understand the background — the backdrop of his remarks in terms of the painful history of the religious strife in northern Ireland — it is unfortunate that his remarks could be construed by some as an attack on religious education," Bunson explained.

"It's an opportunity I think, though, to make note of the very significant role that religious education — especially Catholic education — has played in ending the strife in Northern Ireland, in particular the role of Catholic educators in helping to raise new generations in Ireland, who recognize the importance of cooperation, of peace, and that is something that's worth celebrating."  Read the whole piece here............

IDF soldiers swear allegiance to Israel - on a Koran

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:15 AM PDT

From the IDF Blog:
Over the next few minutes, the Golani Brigade's soldiers who drafted in March of this year will swear allegiance to the State of Israel and commit to do all they can to protect it. Muhammad, an Arab Muslim resident of the Galilee village of Dabburiya, is one of them. Like his friends, he's excited for the ceremony to begin.

The ceremony begins. As the brigade commander finishes his speech, the soldiers quickly run to their commanders, their families and their friends who have come to show their support and encouragement.

When Pvt. Muhammad Atrash's turn comes, he doesn't look for anyone in the audience. "My parents wanted to come, but I convinced them not to," he explains. "Jerusalem is very far from our home, we don't have a car and it's an hour-long drive."

The commander tells Muhammad to stand in front of him. Instead of the Hebrew Bible, the young soldier picks up a Quran, decorated with gold ornaments. He swears his allegiance to the State of Israel, holding the book tightly and smiling. "I'm mostly trying to feel the experience, because It's my first time ever in Jerusalem," he says.

For Muhammad, 18, this is an important step in his unique relationship with the Israel Defense Forces – which began a year and a half ago, when his older brother, Milad, 19, chose to enlist.

"While still in high school I asked my family, 'Why don't we, the Muslims, enlist?'" Milad recalls. "'Why do the Jews, the Druze and the Bedouins enlist, while we don't?' They explained to me that Jews serve because it's their country, that the Druze [community] had signed agreements with the IDF and that we have a lot of Islamic movements that oppose military service in the IDF."

Milad's response? "I told them I don't care about that. I want to join the army to protect my village, my country," he says.Hat tip: EOZ

The Arab citizens of Israel want more jobs in the public and private sectors and equal distribution of public funds

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:14 AM PDT

Khaled Abu Toameh: The Arabs of Israel
The Arab citizens of Israel are not fighting for political rights, which they already enjoy -- otherwise, there would not be so many Arab political parties, or Arab Members of Parliament in the Knesset. Rather, they are fighting for better services and equality. They want more jobs in the public and private sectors and equal distribution of public funds.
Any attempt to politicize the case of the Arab Israelis will only cause damage to Arab citizens, most of whom remain loyal to Israel.
The sharp rise in the number of Arab volunteers for national service is an encouraging development that shows many Arab citizens have lost faith in their representatives, particularly those who are trying to incite them against Israel. Hat tip: EOZ

Syria: America Sidelined By Charles Krauthammer

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:13 AM PDT

The war in Syria, started by locals, is now a regional conflict, the meeting ground of two warring blocs. On one side, the radical Shiite bloc led by Iran, which overflies Iraq to supply Bashar Assad and sends Hezbollah to fight for him. Behind them lies Russia, which has stationed ships offshore, provided the regime with tons of weaponry, and essentially claimed Syria as a Russian protectorate.

And on the other side are the Sunni Gulf states terrified of Iranian hegemony (territorial and soon nuclear); non-Arab Turkey, now convulsed by an internal uprising; and fragile Jordan, dragged in by geography.  And behind them? No one. It's the Spanish Civil War except that only one side — the fascists — showed up. The natural ally of what began as a spontaneous, secular, liberationist uprising in Syria was the United States. For two years, it did nothing.

President Obama's dodge was his chemical-weapons red line. In a conflict requiring serious statecraft, Obama chose to practice forensics instead, earnestly agonizing over whether reported poison-gas attacks reached the evidentiary standards of CSI: Miami. A primitive culture of the Camel Jockeys - Many Jordanian teens justify "honor killings"

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:11 AM PDT

From AFP:
Belief that so-called honor killings are justified is still common among Jordanian teenagers, a Cambridge University study revealed on Thursday. The study by researchers from the university's Institute of Criminology found that almost half of boys and one in five girls interviewed in the capital, Amman, believe that killing a daughter, sister or wife who has "dishonored" or shamed the family is justified.

"Researchers surveyed over 850 students, and found that attitudes in support of honor killing are far more likely in adolescent boys with low education backgrounds," a statement said, adding that the research is published in the criminology journal Aggressive Behavior. "Importantly, the study found that these disturbing attitudes were not connected to religious beliefs."

Between 15 and 20 women die in so-called "honor" murders each year in the Arab kingdom, despite government efforts to curb such crimes.
Keep in mind that the same Arab attachment to "honor" that justifies murdering their own daughters and wives also justifies lifelong dedication to destroying Israel. Erasing shame is the most powerful motive in the Arab world, and nothing short of annihilation of the source of the shame can be effective. Which is reason #7492 why peace is impossible. Khaybar antisemitic series update

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:10 AM PDT

The Blaze reports:
A new Arabic-language television series, "Khaybar," scheduled for broadcast in the Muslim world during Ramadan next month is raising alarm among Jewish groups due to the deeply anti-Semitic messages it reportedly conveys. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) on Tuesday denounced the content of two of the episodes which were posted online this week. "The episodes, which series producers reportedly claim have been leaked, reveal the degree to which classical anti-Semitic narratives are being promoted in the program," the ADL writes. The Zionist Organization of America is calling on President Barack Obama to pressure Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to stop the broadcast of the multi-million dollar production. It writes:
The television series, Khayber, celebrates the victory of Muhammad's Muslim army over the Jewish tribes living in northern Arabia in the battle of Khaybar in 629 C.E. [A.D.] According to most Islamic sources, the Khayber story ends with the slaughter of thousands of Jewish men, women and children. The vanquished Jews were forced thereafter to hand over half their produce to the Muslims until later expelled by the Caliph Umar.
The pro-Israel blogger who writes under the pen name Elder of Ziyon is so concerned that "hundreds of millions of Arabs will be exposed to antisemitism and incitement" that he's started a petition calling on human rights organizations to condemn the series.

Reports: Angry Demonstrations Forced High-Level Hamas Delegation to Flee Cairo
Arabic media outlets are now suggesting that the popular anger directed against the delegation was more substantial than originally reported, and that the delegation was forced to leave Egypt ahead of schedule for safety reasons.
Reports describe thousands of students and veterans attempting to storm the hotel, with hotel workers succeeding in closing the doors only after some protesters broke through. Other sources had Hamas political bureau Khaled Mashaal escaping the hotel via the back door, leaving behind Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and the rest of the delegation. Demonstrators called for the delegation to be tried and arrested. Hat tip: EOZ

"Moderate" Iran President-elect Rowhani tied to Iranian jihad bombing of Jewish community center in Argentina that murdered 85

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:06 AM PDT

But don't be concerned. The mainstream media assures us he's a "moderate"! "Iranian President-elect Hasan Rowhani tied to Jewish-targeted bomb plot that killed 85," by Cheryl K. Chumley for The Washington Times, June 20 :
Hasan Rowhani, the president-elect of Iran, was part of a special government task force that plotted in 1994 to bomb a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, a terrorist attack that ultimately left 85 dead and hundreds wounded.
The Washington Free Beacon first reported the connection on Thursday. Argentine authorities say the Iranian government plotted the bombing while members of Hezbollah actually carried it out. Interpol still maintains a list of 'most wanted' Iranians believed to be tied to the attack, Ynet News reported.
A former Iranian intelligence officer who defected in the 1990s said the attack was the brainchild of a special committee tied to the Supreme National Security Council. Mr. Rowhani served as secretary of that council and as a member of the special committee during the formation of the bomb plot, Ynet said.... Hat tip: Jihad Watch
